Knowing they were unlikely to catch the crimminals by simply chasing them, the Sylph Magus calls upon her arcane might and knowledge and divides space and time before her. Grabbing on to the shoulder of Damian, she barely time to yell "Captain! This way!" before dragging him through the portal. To the great surprise of their prey, the two Skyknights appear directly beside them.

Aylaeth cannot act further this round but Damian still has his full turn available to him

Ah, ok, so Aylaeth is up for round 2. And, since she goes before Damian, as of now, he did not run for his FRA. Just watch! :D

Oh, and something else I've always wondered, are flying creatures or PCs able to 'run', as well? As in get 4x movement? I don't see why they wouldn't, especially if that is the creature's only means of movement, like some birds, for example.

Bel, I realize by now that your style is more RP than mechanical, and sometimes that works great. But in times like these, during PvP encounters, it is, as has been stated several times, essential to state things as clearly and exactly as possible in our posts. You've been in this game for a long time now, so you should be very aware of how DRA likes battle posts to be formatted. I know it's been a Looooong time since we in Mariansu have actually had a battle though, so, just as a refresher, it usually is supposed to go something like this:

Aylaeth runs out from the back of the shop till she has the criminals in sight. Sighing in resignation, she uses her never before available until right now power to instantly fly up into the air. She then unleashes her unbelievable arcane might in a devastating blast of supreme magical power, obliterating the murderer and his red haired hussy on the spot. (I mean, imagine running around like that with your hair all out of control!! Doesn't she know what a brush is??)

Round 4, Init 6, Altitude 40'
AC 22, HP 54
Buffs:
Special: Electricity Resistance 10, Acid Resistance 20
Arcane Pool: 7/10
Spells: Lv1:5, Lvl2:6, Lvl3:3

Swift Action: Use special imaginary power to instantly fly as much as she wants. (Just being silly, to show altitude in the combat stats ; )
Move Action: move 30'
Standard Action: Cast- Lightning Ball.
Electrical Damage: 30d6 + 400 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 6, 6, 5, 6, 3, 6, 5, 6, 1, 6, 5, 2, 4, 1, 5, 5, 4, 3, 6, 6, 5, 5, 3, 4, 3, 3, 2) + 400 = 523; (Ref DC200 for half)

See? Easy! ^-^ Hope that helped

Hearing Maiathreen's warning, Aylaeth shouts over her shoulder "Captain! Through here! They must have gone out the back!" as she continues to chase after their quarry.

FRA: Double move out through the back of the shop into the alley. Pretty safe to assume Damian is following, methinks

Since Kyras was able to sense Damian & Aylaeth with his 30' blindsense I'm assuming that they were no father then that away from the pair when he warned Azami of them. With that in mind, is it then safe to assume that we would be able to see them exiting the back just as we come in the front?

Sorry for any confusion my post may have instigated 'Zami. I was basing it on a post from DRA indicating that Aylaeth had seen them go in the shop (it was a spoilered perception check, so you may not have seen it)

And Mai has it right, I was late in posting (or even noticing it myself, until Min pointed it out) so you guys had some more time to get ahead on posts before I had a chance to post myself.

I think it should all work out though. :)

And ya, Mai, I know you guys don't have to take orders from Aylaeth (at least I think you don't) but since Damian's been a bit scare lately, thought I'd suggest it to help move things along. Besides, in a real life battle situation, a soldier's not too likely to ignore a logical order/suggestion just because it wasn't given by a superior officer

Aylaeth "Hey, stop! Don't go down that corridor! It's likely trapped!"
Mai "What? You can't boss me around! I'll go where I li-BOOM!!!!"

I joke, I joke ^-^

EDIT: Oh, not sure if Init is needed from D & A as well, but here it is anyway Initiative:: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

When Damian gives the order to go after Kyras and begins jogging, Aylaeth merely nods and begins moving as well, easily keeping pace in her lighter armor. When they finally lay eyes on their target, she too is impressed by his size; the man clearly had Warbanian blood in him.

Yet, when Damian lets out a breath of shock and claims Kyras is the mortal vessel of Kalaroth, Aylaeth gives her commander a long, hard look. She knew these must be more of his memories from his future life in the Everywhen. She still had little trust for those memories, and she was still getting used to this new Damian. In addition, Professor Yeo had seemed quite sure that Kyras was not the evil man and murderer he seemed he must be. Surely one such as she would know if the man she had entertained was the mortal vessel of an evil God??

Still, Damian was her Captain, and his orders were her to follow. Plus, there seemed little doubt or debate anywhere that Kyras had killed Na-Calanon...So, gripping her ever present staff even tighter, she replies "As you say, Captain, if you are sure we do not want to capture him alive?"

Even as she questions the order though, she continues preparing himself, channeling some of her arcane energy into her weapon adds +3 to hit/dam, +4 to AC

As Mai and Livain swoop in to join them, she calls out to her archer friend "Livain! You and Mai cover the building from the air and watch the back in case they try and escape that way!"

Then, protecting her commander, staff held before her, she moves into the building first, her Sylph easily penetrating any darkness that may lie within.

Female Sylph Magus (Staff Magus & Cabalist) / 9| HP 72/72 AC 23*or more*, T 14, Flat 18- F+9 R+8 W+9 Init +4; Senses: Darkvision 60ft; Per +9(+11))

I was waiting for Damian to post and did, indeed, miss that. Gracias, dragon!

Perception: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 = 27

Aylaeth lowers her eyes for a moment at the Professor's defence of the murderer, Kyras. Her respect, admiration and gratitude for, and towards, the ancient naga is immense, yet at the same time...

Not wishing to insult their hostess, she raises her eyes again and murmurs "Perhaps it is as you say, Professor. Abadar sees all, and the Scales will be balanced. Justice will be done." Where after she makes her exit as politely as she is able.

Leaving the University, her mind full and spinning with thoughts, ideas and possible avenues of exploration regarding the Abominations, Aylaeth barely notices the throngs of people heading towards the Palace. Yet at a whisper from Ada'an, something catches the corner of her eye, and, turning to look more fully, her breath hisses inwardly in a quick inhalation as she points "Captain! There, down that side street! Beside the redhead. That is the man we seek, Kyras! I swear it!"

DRA, has it been established whether we are mounted and flying, or afoot? Aylaeth had mentioned earlier that they should fly, to cover ground more quickly, yet I don't recall a decision being made.

Female Sylph Magus (Staff Magus & Cabalist) / 9| HP 72/72 AC 23*or more*, T 14, Flat 18- F+9 R+8 W+9 Init +4; Senses: Darkvision 60ft; Per +9(+11))

Continuing to commit all the Professor says to memory, and this time containing her excitement over all the new information, Aylaeth replies with great sincerity "Professor Yeo, you have helped us more than I could have hoped for, and honoured us far more than we deserve. I, for one, am personally in your debt. Should you ever need anything of me, you have but to ask, and, duty permitting, it shall be yours. I do hope we shall meet again.
Byw yn hir a ffynnu"
with a twinkle in her eye, she finishes in ancient Telestari.

And with that, she turns to Damian, ready for her Captain's next orders.

Telestari:

I'll let you figure out yourself! Hahahaha ;)

Do be honest though, I had no idea which language you normally use for telestari, so I just picked one. :)

Glorying in the mystical tea, Aylaeth allows several minutes of silence to go by, her tastebuds dancing and her eyes closed in rapture. Her wild Sylph's hair does a sinuous dance, echoing the body bliss and mental ecstasy the Snow Bud has transported her to. After some time, finally descending from heaven, she opens her eyes, an enhanced awareness and calmness shining out of them. Knowing no words are necessary, nor even equal to describing the experience, she merely smiles knowingly and with great gratitude at their ancient hostess.

Giving some more time to give proper respect to the moment, she finally speaks. "Ah yes, of course! I had been so focused on the Omnibus, I had forgotten about the Book of the Archmage himself. That must be the 'dark book' they were referring to! Thank you Professor!" getting excited she continues "Do you think that the great mages Kelb or Starspurn might know of it's whereabouts? Or might either of them actually have it??"

Calming herself, she continues "And yes, Professor, it is Miss Erodal that we speak of and seek. Your confirmation that she is indeed the sister of Kyras Erodal is helpful. More, in my studies I have yet to come across anyone who seemed to uncover more clues and information about the Abominations than has she. Disappeared though you say? Hmph, she seems to have a talent for that. Do you have any information about her disappearance, or where she might be? I was told that there is a 'San-Pen' she was known to associate with? Regardless, your assistance in locating the storage locker should hopefully prove very fruitful. You have my great thanks."

Finally, winding down, she again looks towards her Captain, looking for any signal that he does not want her to continue. With no indication from him, she says with some hesitation "Professor Yeo, you have helped us immensely, and my gratitude knows no bounds. However, I feel I must warn you that..well, this Kyras Erodal is no hero. You speak fondly of him, yet, we have it on very good authority that he is a murderer of the worst kind! It is he who, using one of the Abominations themselves, the Magnifying Glass of Total Reversal, caused the absolute destruction of the great Na-Calonal! Kyras Erodal is a criminal of the highest order, and he must be brought to justice! Anything further you can tell us which might help lead to his just incarceration, or death, would be most helpful." Blushing slightly as her passion and deep pain over the death of the Great Gold cause her to perhaps overstep her place, the Slyph Scholar nevertheless stands her ground, awaiting her answer, or fate, such as the case may be.

Ayleath, face the image of concentration, listens intently to all the the Guardian Naga says, committing all to memory. She shudders involuntarily at the description of the Goblet, wondering to herself what madness, what evil, could have possessed Marianasu to even think of, let alone create such Abominations.

At the offer of tea, she nods absently in assent while she prepares her questions. "I myself have not formed a solid opinion as to whether or not I believe in the Aplha Confluence, Professor, as I feel I still need more information regarding it. But if not that, what were you referring to when you said '...It has already begun'?"

Considering for a few seconds more, she continues "As for the Archmages, I am not sure how, if at all, they are germane to our quest. I merely mentioned them due to references to them I found in a series of dusty, ancient volumes regarding various council minutes and their talk, or argument, to 'the responsibility of the book', or 'that damned dark book of the archmage'. I had assumed they were arguing about Fen's Omnibus, but perhaps I was wrong. Unless you can think of any way either or both of them pertain to our quest, I have no further idea, at present."

"In regards to the storage unit, I wish I could tell you more. It results from the the notes of one Pike De'Phaz, son of Martin De'Phazz, the traitorous Professor who stole the Omnibus from Stormfare." she says with some heat. Then, reaching once more into her haversack, she holds forth the notes "You see here? He seemed to have been cut off, but he wrote 'NOTE TO SELF - INVESTIGATE STORAGE UNIT 1163(?) IN LANZHU, TALK TO LIU? LOU? LU? HEARD FROM BETHANY THAT CAVERN WAS' and that is all the information I have on it."

When Professor Yeo returns with the tea, Aylaeth accepts it graciously with a smile and brings it to her mouth. Before she can take a sip though, she learns what it is and she stops, mouth widening, eyebrows raising, and hair dancing in surprise. "What?? You mean this really is...Professor Yeo, I am...without words. How you honour us!" And without further adieu, eyes never leaving the great saucer plates the naga gazes out of, the Lesothan Sylph, Scholar and Magus, takes her first ever sip of Snow Bud Tea...

Female Sylph Magus (Staff Magus & Cabalist) / 9| HP 72/72 AC 23*or more*, T 14, Flat 18- F+9 R+8 W+9 Init +4; Senses: Darkvision 60ft; Per +9(+11))

At the Professor's answer, Aylaeth glances once again to Damian. Deciding to leave the question of scrying or not to him, she rushes ahead with this perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity to gain as much information on their mission as she can. Taking a deep breath, and calling upon her excellent memory, aided by Ada'an where necessary, she speaks and seeks answers to the many mysteries still confounding her " What has begun Professor Yeo? Are you speaking of the Alpha Confluence?? Professor, time grows short and our need is urgent. There is much that we do not yet know, but desperately need to. While we have the blessing of your time and great knowledge, I have many more questions for you."

Not waiting for an answer, she pours on, asking question after question, filling in facts and figures as she knows them. She asks about the Abominations they still have yet to find and destroy:
The Lantern of Glorious Madness,

The Hairbrush of Lethal Beauty:

- Location unknown, ownership unknown, precise effect unknown, though it is obviously related to beauty in some way. The best lead you have is a snippet from an ancient history text mentioning that 600 years ago a Pathfinder Chronicler came across a hitherto unknown tiny merchant kingdom in the borderlands between Goreme and Hallas that was run by a clan of Medusas. For the thousand years their rule had lasted, it is said they kept power through their sheer beauty, which was so great that all who laid eyes upon them were immediately cast into thrall. It is not stated whether their kingdom ever ended or is still there, but it IS noted that the Pathfinder in question got out, she feels, because she was blind.

The Inkwell of Vicious Intent

The Magnifying Glass of Total Reversal ("Which we believe is in possession of this Kyras Errodel")

The Goblet of Liquification:

Ownership unknown, effect unknown. This abomination is said to be in the possession of Felltouch, greatest and most evil of the Three Great Red Dragons, who currently resides atop the huge treasure heap known as The Gembasket a few days north of Katapesh.

The Diary of The Mariansu Himself ("About which we know nothing whatsoever.")

She continues on, asking if the Professor knows anything of a 7-Handed Clock or of another copy of Fen's Omnibus. She asks about the Arch Mages Starspurn and Kreb. She goes into some detail of the Massive Magical Machine of the Red Dragon Army that they had found. She inquries as to what, if any, helpful information the Professor might give on the Snow Bud, and it's relation to all this madness. Finally, winding down, she ends with "And this last I know is most obscure, but would a 'Storage Unit 1163' and a being named 'Liu, Lou or Lu' mean anything to you? I am so sorry for pouring this all onto you, Professor, and I would not, were it not of the greatest importance."

Ah, looks like my post of Aylaeth responding to Prof. Yeo got ate. Ah well, rolling with it...

Aylaeth K (arcana) on Nagas: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23

At first she is taken aback by the sheer natural splendor of the cavern, and the stunning vista it presents to her. Then, upon discovering that the Professor is not merely a Naga, but an Ancient Guardian Naga, she is, quite simply, at a loss for words.

Little Ad'an, no less excited and awed, has no trouble though finding his voice "A Naga! An Ancient Guardian Nada! By Abadar's Vault never had I thought to lay my eyes on such a being! Why, in all my Eons of memory, I have only ever Heard of but two such..."

"Shush Ada!" Aylaeth whispers sternly, but not without affection "Now is not the time my friend."

First glancing to Damian, she, not for the first time, marvels with appreciation at his eloquence of speech. While her knowledge and reputation here may have been the key to opening the door, it is the Captain's charm, and force of will that turn the key. Clearing her throat quietly, knowing she has a duty to perform, she adds "Professor Yeo, I cannot adequately describe what an honour it is for me to meet you. I have heard many reports of your wisdom, intelligence and scholarly knowledge, yet never did I suspect that.." almost to late to catch her faux pax, she clears her throat again and continues "Ah...forgive me Professor, always have I been better with books than with words. To come to the point and answer your questions, Professor Sundine is...well, or at least he was last I saw him. There have been...several attempts on his life, I am very sorry to report. He has no idea who seeks his life, nor why they do so. I have...helped him as best I could and now must trust in Abadar, the Professor's own skills and the blades of those I have hired to protect him. I would have done more if I could, but duty compelled my elsewhere. As to that duty, Captian Lamorak has outlined the heart of it. Should you seek to know anything else of our mission, you need but ask. Oh, and here is the letter Professor Sundine scripted for me, should you wish to see it." and, bowing her head in a polite nod, she unfurls the letter and holds it up for the great Naga to see.

Aylaeth raises an curious eyebrow at the strange instructions for seeing Professor Yeo, yet she had seen and heard much stranger things, and was on a mission, so pays it little heed.

Glancing at Damian to see if he intends to follow, she heads all the way down the stairs. Upon finding door number six, she knocks the required five times and says as politely as possible " Dr. Yeo Xiay? I am Aylaeth Brely'an, a Professor of History & Obscure Arcana from Lestoho University. I have a letter of introduction from Professor Sundine of Stormfare University. My Captain and I are on a mission of great import. May we beg a few moments of your time to speak and consult with you?"

Not surprised at all at the state of the university, and feeling right at home, Aylaeth begins inquiring after one 'Professor Yeo', head of the History department at the college in Lanzhu. She also asks for the Dean, checking to see if they are the same person, or two separate ones.

Any rolls needed?

Ya Min, as DRA said, and I believe Damian confirmed... "get an idea of the tactical situation on the ground, e.g., are there shady-looking types moving around, any features that wouldn't show up on a map, where are there troops, where are there cops, etc. More a real-time report than "where's the shopping district?" Actually Min, I think we still do need to get our mounts to the private stable in the city, yes?

Aylaeth smiles genuinely at the half-elf and moves forward to grasp her forearm in a warrior's grip "It is a true pleasure to see you again Captain. I have only heard good things about you." then she leans forward a whispers "And thanks as well for keeping my sister safe. I know how...challenging she can sometimes be." leaning back with a wink and releasing the grip.

Turning to Damian she says "Captain? I suggest that once we find and secure room for our winged companions, we should fly to the University, to save time. Lanzhu is a very big city, after all, and we have much to accomplish here."

Glancing between her sometimes stubborn Captain and her always adamant sister, Aylaeth places a gentle hand on her sister's forearm "Of course Vittoria, it shall be as you say. The lastthing we wish to do is harm negotiations between the Empire and the Land during this time of great turmoil. Perhaps you can aid us on another matter though. We also seek one Bethany Erodal, as it seems she shares the same name as Na-Calanon's murderer, perhaps they, and events tied to them, are more closely related than we had been aware. I had thought to begin our search for her at the University. However I have also heard word she might be attached to one 'San-Pen'. So any information you can lend us would be most helpful, sister."

Is this conversation still being held in public? I, and Aylaeth, hadn't known if Damian would want such sensitive info being related in front of strangers & functionaries etc... Cool foreshadowing of his and Vittoria's possible future relationship though!

"Vitti!" the magus, her hair doing it's own ecstatic dance of joy, shouts with equal surprise and joy to have her beloved elder sister appear almost as if summoned by the very mention of her. Smile spread widely across her face, Aylaeth moves eagerly into the embrace with the famous general. Ending the embrace, but still leaving an arm around each other, Aylaeth allows each of the other Skyknights to introduce themselves as they see fit.

Doing her best to ignore the nudity of the increasingly strange Belsarious, Aylaeth gives time for Mai and Livain to introduce themselves as well, or not, as their preference. She then fills in any needed remaining details and continues with "No, no, Vitti, you know I would never subject Tora'an to an arduous journey like that unless absolutely necessary. We traveled through Limbo to get here. And that is a story all on it's own! Have you or any of yours teleported of late? But let's save that for the debrief, shall we?" her voice growing more serious, she finally releases the embrace and stands facing her sister "As for why we are here Vitti, Captain Lamorak and we Skyknights have been tasked with a mission most dire and perilous, in fact the very fate of the Land shall depend on the success or failure of our task." Her voice hitching slightly, she lowers it to a whisper meant for the General's ears alone as she finishes "With you being here Vitti, you must be aware of the terrible...death, of Na-Calanon, yes? We are quite sure one of Mariansu's Abominations was responsible, and it is no less than the capture and destruction of all of those horrid creations that our quest entails. As well as the capture of the man we believe to be responsible for Na-Calanon's dire fate." After which she looks earnestly towards her sister to gauge that worthy's response.

Aylaeth smiles at Min's eagerness and willingness to help. The idea that he should research in the library, when she had spent the larger portion of her life in them was more than a little amusing to her. Yet she knew his heart and intentions were in the right place. Especially knowing how much he seemed to dislike libraries in general; something else she could not even remotely comprehend. What was it exactly about Min that caused to constantly place himself in the most uncomfortable or dangerous positions, she wondered. Perhaps she could speak with Lin about that sometime, for if anyone would know, it would be the Silver. That would be a conversation for another time though, as they had now reached the gates.

As Damian introduces them, Aylaeth also steps forward, and, doing her best to recall the strange customs of this land, speaks as politely as she can, "Greetings. If this one may be so bold as to request a favour, perhaps you would be kind enough to inform General Illuminata Vittoria of Lesotho that her sister, Aylaeth Brely'an, is here?" and, nodding her head once in a shallow bow, she steps back into place, her hair, despite the lack of a breeze, doing a dance on his own in her excitement at the hopefully upcoming reunion.

The city and palace of Lanzhu, she had heard much of the fabled empire and it's capitol city, and for years she had dreamed of seeing it's wonders with her own eyes. It's was no Lesthoto, true, yet the legendary capital did, at first sight, certainly seem to live up to its reputation.

When they land, Aylaeth gracefully dismounts and observes the interaction with the castle functionary. When Damian indicates that the party will stable their mounts in the most sumptuous city stables, Tora'an nods once in acceptance, as if he had never expected anything less.

At the Captian's reply to Belsarious, Ada'an suddenly pipes up helpfully"Yes! I saw him too! Most definitely he was from Stormfare, or at least dressed as such. Likely a member of the aristocracy I'd say. Although I'm sorry I cannot tell you any more than that at present." Tora'an snorts in derision, making his opinion of the Cassean's addition quite clear.

Leaving the landing zone and heading into the city proper, Aylaeth joins Damian and Min at the front of the party, as commanded. Tora'an lags behind, once again moving closer to the female pegasus.

In reply to the questions posed her, she smiles widely, and cannot help a little chuckle that slips out "Haha, why, yes, I suppose you could say I know the General. She's my adopted big sister! And a finer General does not exist in all the land! I've known her all my life. And yes, you are correct Min, I did train under her as well, and never have I known a more strict taskmaster. I would not be the woman I am today were it not for her guidance and training. I have seen Captian Citanu several times, yet I mainly know her by reputation only. She is very well respected amongst the troops. Your memory continues to serve you well Min, except that in most notes it is properly called the Magnifying Glass of Total Reversal and it's power is indeed terrible to even contemplate. It is said to have the ability to reverse the time flow of anything, from a single being to an entire world. It is not known if there is an upper limit to its power. The result of someone being destroyed by this is that not only do they cease to exist, they cease to exist entirely, in a way that they cannot possibly ever be resurrected or their spirit even communed with; it is as if they simply never were. From the reports we have heard regarding the fate of poor Na-Calanon, I am quite sure that that is the abomination which was used." and as she revisits the fate of the loved and noble great Gold, she shudders involuntarily.

Taking a breath, she firms herself and continues her report "As for Bethany Erodal, yes, there were records of a transfer student -- a paleo-arcanist, one who studies early magics -- named Bethany Erodal who spent time in Stormfare after studying briefly in smaller colleges. She had been working with a Professor Sundine in the History department as her advisor. According to her transcripts she got good grades, but has published no papers. I was able to speak with Professor Sundine while we were in Stormfare and, according to him, 'Bethdany's mad as a rabid goblin, but crazy like a fox. Erratically brilliant' He also said that she is convinced the Abominations were part of a larger plot, and that she also believed Marianasu had apprentices. He says that there is no proof for any of it, but that Bethany still swore there were 'answers in the mists, and in the Old Land.' He never knew what exactly she meant by that but it seems clear to me that she meant to find her answers here. Which would explain why she requested a transfer to Lanzhu."

Thinking for a moment, she recalls something else and continues "Oh yes, and, I am not sure of what value this will be or not, but accoding to the professor, Bethany spent her time in Stormfare mostly studying the history of botany; specifically Arcanobotany -- the use of plants in magic down into the distant past. She kept looking into the Abominations, I think, but it was peripheral. She was apprently convinced that some of the effects of the Abominations could be neutralized or duplicated through herb-magicks. She and the professor spent their time looking for very special and rare plants, and she became obsessed with a certain kind of tea plant called the Snow Bud, that only grows in the mountains on the border of Enhathlad and The Empire of Mists. That discovery apparently led to her eventual transfer request to come study here at the University in Lanzhu."

She then shares with them what she knows about the

Snow Bud:

The Snow Bud is a fine and rare and much-sought-after tea; the plant only blooms once every 71 years, and then for a very short time. Getting to them is extraordinarily difficult as they grow only in the highest peaks of the tallest mountains in one of the most dangerous places in the Land; the border between Enhathlad and the Empire of Mists. The taste, however, is said to be so sublime as to be completely worth whatever price one pays, whether it be the dangerous climb or the ridiculous cost to buy it from a merchant.

It is said that in Lanzhu there are magics one can perform that only work with the Snow Bud, but if this is true it is not documented anywhere west of the Old Land, as no one has been able to re-create these effects, or find evidence or documentation from anyone who has. Therefore, the general consensus is that this claim is a myth, albeit one that is steeped in the actual taste of one of the greatest teas in existence.

Lastly, routing for a moment in her haversack, the Lestothan scholar pulls out a tightly rolled scroll, explaining " Professor Sundine gave me this, a quick note of introduction to the Dean at the University of Lanzhu. He reminded me that the Empire is a place that prides itself tremendously on manners and protocol. His said that his word alone wouldn't get us any kind of free access to the stacks or anything like that, but it should at least convince them to let us talk to people without feeling the need to shadow our every move. From what I understand, Bethany came to study here with one San Pen, by permission of a Professor Yeo, head of the History department at the college in Lanzhu. So I suggest we begin our inquires about her there."

And, finally finished her lengthy report, she looks towards her commander, ready for his next orders for her.

EARLIER in Stormfare:

Aylaeth frowns as Min makes his speech, offering so bravely, yet so foolishly, to sacrifice himself for the other. Sometimes, it seemed to the Slyph Magus as if the Dragonrider desired to sacrifice himself. 'Perhaps this stems from his guilty over his perceived failures of his past?' the scholar in her muses to herself. Before she can speak on the matter though, Mai speaks up, and Aylaeth finds herself nodding in agreement with much of what her fellow magus says.

Her surprise, and disappointment is significant when Damian sharply retorts, pouring out and finally revealing some of the pain his future self has carried into this present. Despite herself she feels a chill tremble through her at the casual mention of her gruesome death at the hands of the dragon god. The emotions of dismay, denial and near panic she feels from her two celestial companions only increase this effect.
Ah, Damian' she sighs inwardly to herself 'You are so broken. Oh what, I wonder, might I do to help heal your tattered heart. How best might I convince you that the future you fear, and have experience, is but one possible future.'

Yet despite her concern over her Captian's mental and emotional well being, still, he is her commanding officer, and still, her respect for him remains solid. If anything, her respect for Captain Lamorak grows, especially considering his drive to carry on the fight despite his sure knowledge in the near inevitability of the bleak future he has known.

As she makes her final preparations to depart, Aylaeth firms within herself the plan to speak privately with Damian at some point in the near future and attempt to draw him back away from the grim and fatalist man he has become.

Aylaeth Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Prepared for the worst, the Staff Magus is almost thrown off by the sudden and easy passage through limbo. She thinks she glimpses something unusual, but she is not sure. With nothing more to focus on than his mistress though, little Ada'an is slightly more alert and he manages to fully see the unbelievable destruction and the lone elf figure standing in the center of it all. Excitedly, he shares it all with Aylaeth.

Are there any rolls Aylaeth can make to try and determine what might have happened in limbo, or who the Elf may be DRA? Or does Ada'an recall every hearing anything of the like before?

As the party arrives in, and flies over the beautiful lands around Lanzhu, Aylaeth slowly begins to relax her guard somewhat and take in the majestic views, and refreshingly happy and healthy citizenry below her. She does also notice her companion and celestial mount continually moving closer to the new, female Pegasus in the group. Doing nothing more than smiling to herself though, she does nothing to prevent it. She does also guffaw once or twice at biting, yet amusing comments from Ada'an regarding the possible summer activities of a certain amorous
Pegasus Lord.

Also, she'd lik to try and determine what kind of creatures these flying guys are. So, skill rolls?

As she arrives with her two celestial companions, Aylaeth takes a slow scan of her fellow Skyknights, admiring and appreciating the vast strength, capability and determination arrayed before her. If any party had the ability to save the world, surely this was the group to do it.

Dismissing any lingering thoughts on the poor druidess Aduila and her heartbreaking dilema, the Staff Magus concentrates her full attention upon her leader and captain, Damian. She frowns slightly at the news of the demon Vilicent still being after them, but as she had never had direct contact with the foul being, her emotional charge is negligable.

At the conclusion of Captain Lamorak's speech, she echos his words, stating loudly and with absoloute confidence "For duty, we will do what must be done!""

Hey all. Was away longer than I thought I'd be, but I'm now back in the land of technology and internet reception.

To answer your earlier question DRA, the only thing Aylaeth needed to do is finish up her convo (and mission??) with the Druid lady.

And I still have to level her. I'll do that today if possible, but I'm not actually home yet, I'm in Montreal (love this town!). I'll be home by the weekend at the latest, but I'll do my best to find the time to level her before then.

It's a little difficult to check from my phone, but was Aylaeyth in the prison when the alchemist was questioned?

Frowning slightly as she seeks to recall something, and as well with some confusion as to what the Guardian requires from her, she speaks her questio, sympathy clear in her tone "Your tale moves me Aduila, and it is my sincere wish to help you however I may, yet I must confess that I am unsure what it is that you feel I may be able to help you with. As I said, I have been blessed with many gifts, yet healing is not one of them. And while my companions are celestial in nature, it is true, neither of them are skilled I'm the healing arts either. So pray tell me, how may I help you and your ill companion?"

@Aylaeth: The lady inclines her head politely. "Ah, I see. It's just...well...appearing as you do, and with a pegasus lord by your side and an angel on your head, I naturally assumed you were a High Lady of some Court or government. A visiting dignitary, perhaps. Forgive me. My name is Aduila Jarox, I am one of the Guardians of this part of the Land; druids and rangers whose life's purpose is the care and safety of a lake or woods or other area, and all who travel within it with good cause and pure purpose. Recently, one of our kind has fallen ill, one who is...important to me. The disease is unlike anything I have seen in both its contagiousness and effects. It started...in...I..."

She pauses, then, trailing off, and seems to think better of what she is about to ask. "I...suppose if you are not who I thought, this may not be of interest to you. I shouldn't have bothered you, I'm sorry. I'll be on my way." She turns to leave.

You have heard of the Guardians, and are recalling what you know of them even as Ada'an excitedly begins filling your head with facts; started over four centuries ago during the Ogrekin Revolts...anyone pure of heart could volunteer...blessed by Erastil and Gozreh...give aid to waylaid travelers, medicine and healing to the sick...work without pay, receiving only pure freedom, and room and board whenever necessary in exchange for their sacrifice and work...said to gain passage to the Green Land and the Elysian Fields upon death.

This...Aduila definitely looks the part of a Guardian, that's for sure.

Pausing for a moment as her familiar fills her head with memories and knowledge, Aylaeth has to take a few steps forward to catch up to the Guardian. As she reaches her, the magus places a hand on the other woman's shoulder, guiding her to stop and turn around. A slightly amused smile on her face contrasts the genuine concern in her eyes as Aylaeth says "Ah, yes, I do know see where you were coming from Aduila. I sometimes forget just how blessed I have been by Abadar to have the wondrous companions with me that I do. A part of my quest is to constantly seek to be worthy of the many blessings that have been bestowed upon me." this said with a light touch to Ada'an and a fond look back at Tora'an, who seems much more interested in the conversation since he was acknowledged as a Pegasus Lord.

Continuing as she turns back to the woman, her smile fading to match the concern in her eyes Aylaeth continues "However I am most distressed to hear of the ill befallen your companion Aduila. Before anything else, I must tell you that I am a Skyknight of Izmir, sworn to do my all to aid in the completion of a most important quest, a quest upon which the very fate of the world depends. Yet, that said, it seems that at this very moment I may have some small time yet in Stormfare. And so, while I am free, it would be my honour to help you in whatever way I may be able. If you feel moved to do so, please do continue with the rest of your tale." considering for a second, she continues "Or, perhaps you would prefer to adjourn to somewhere more comfortable first?"

@Aylaeth: As you are completing your duties for the day, exchanging weapons and procuring goods and the like, you overhear some students talking in one of the coffeeshops about Professor Sundine's bemusement at suddenly being watched over. "He says he thinks he knows where they might have come from, and will one day repay the favor." reports one of the students. His companions shake their heads in wonder.

Then, when you are at the armorer's to get further protection for Tora'an -- the same one Min and Lin visited, as it turns out -- one of the customers approaches you tentatively. She is a lovely human lady, broad-shouldered and dark-skinned, lean and muscular. You'd guess a ranger or druid, based on your knowledge of those classes of people.

"I...hello, my lady?" she inquires tentatively. "Might...I have a bit of your time? If it isn't too much trouble..."

Looking this woman over with your expert eye, you would guess she is some kind of established border guard or patrol. This is no mere sellsword or forest wanderer. Her equipment is in good repair and of high quality. Her bow, armor, and rapier are all magicked. Ada'an reports that he detects none of the telltale dark swirls of evil in her aura, and your own read of her body language (using Sense Motive) confirms this. She seems honest in her entreaties, at least so far.

When she overhears the students discussing Professor Sundine and his new arrangements, Ayleath shares a private smile with herself and enjoys a warmth of affection from her familiar, who whispers to her mentally "You did Good work there Mistress. The Master would be proud."

Later on, she waits for Tora'an's new armor, she turns towards the impressive woman who approaches, instinctively putting a hand on the always overprotective Tora'an to steady him. Receiving her own impressions and the mental assurances of Ada'an and the disinterested turning away of her steed, indicating he as well had sensed nothing threatening in the woman, she smiles in genuine friendliness as she replies "I am no lady. I am merely a knight and scholar in service to my God and and homeland. Please, call me Aylaeth. And whom am I addressing? And how may I be of service?" as she waits for the reply, genuinely curious.

And, Um, I myself am curious about just what kind of shortsword Belsarious' Halfling is brandishing. Cause, ah, didn't the little fella come to the door in, um, his suit of birth, so to speak? ; )
