There are few who know the truth of the Sylph Ranger who haunts the forests around Sandpoint. Difficult to locate, she often appears when she is most needed, scaring off or killing goblinoid menaces in the area before disappearing into the forest again as though made of the wind itself.
The truth about Annalya is that her grandfather was a djinn from the Plane of Air who became infatuated with a beautiful sorceress. They bore a child who was Annalya’s mother and her sylph heritage passed through into her own daughter, Annalya.
Annalya took it upon herself to wander the Material Plane, seeking out adventure and excitement and yet her sylph nature often prevented her from becoming too famous in any one place. Just over twenty-five years ago, she happened on the sleepy village of Sandpoint and has remained in the vicinity ever since, combating the local goblinoid menace. Even Annalya is unsure as to why she feels drawn to this place but her faith in Desna keeps her there while she waits for a sign.
Now, as the Swallowtail Festival nears and the reconsecration of Desna’s cathedral draws close, Annalya finds herself drawn more and more into the town of Sandpoint and she has made a couple of friends although she still prefers the solitude of the wilds. Nonetheless, she has begun to “listen to the wind” and enjoys picking up on rumours and gossip that often spreads like wildfire through the town.
Although she would be considered beautiful, her shy nature has so far prevented her from attracting many suitors but even she feels the pull of nature and the desire for children. For this to happen, she must learn to become more socially adept although this is a slow process.
