Hate to do this guys, but I'm going to have pull of the game. I got a new summer job starting up and its made it kind of impossible for me to keep up with my roleplaying. Once again, I'm sorry for doing this and the ghosting, but I also want to say how much of a blast it has been to play with you guys.

It's been fun and I hope you're able to continue with this deliciously villainous game!

Ameliya smiled coyly as Injoe tried to play his little game. She could hardly fault the man for trying to make some coin in such a one-horse town, but he was way over his head if believed he could over-charge them.

The madame said as much she addressed him again. "I must agree with my colleagues, darling. While we would love to make use of such services it would be scandalous on our part to do so without first a trial run."

The moment Ameliya saw the dockmaster a wide smile formed on her lips. Though the man was obviously below her, that did not change the fact that he had proven useful in the past when it came to accidentally losing the cargo of her business rivals in town. As such, the madame embraced him in a hug when he approached the group and planted two quick kisses on both of his cheeks.

"Darling Ingoe. Don't you know by now that when it comes to you that I'm always available for a chat?"

I'm all in for the communal wand as well and Ameliya has money to spend.

Ameliya observed the growing crowd of spectators around Caggan and Kels with thoughtful eyes. They needed to ensure that the rebels in the crowd, if there indeed were any, would see such a public humiliation and be so outraged by it that they'd compromise themselves to right it. Of course, they also had to ensure that the entire town didn't join them either.

It was a perilous tight rope, one that required an even hand and silver tongue to accomplish. At first, Ameliya determined that she would be the one to speak to the growing crowd, but thought better of it.

The madame directed her eyes to their new local Magistrate Temporalis and spoke evenly. "Vade, darling. I think a public address on the crimes of those two fools are in order. Up for the task?"

I'm game for adding another player. Especially one with some stealth and skill capabilities.

As Riley balked against his imprisonment Ameliya looked to the bard with mild unsympathetic disgust. "Because you broke our illustrious Archbaron's laws against large gatherings and worse yet fraternized with a known rebel against the throne, darling. I honestly cannot fathom why you'd think you wouldn't be be punished for either."

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

Ameliya eyed the bard suspiciously, scanning for any sigh of deceit in his words or movements. When she failed to spot any on the surface she decided to simply invade his mind and find her answers there.

Casting Detect Thoughts on Riley to if he's really deciding to come in quietly. Taking three rounds to do so to get the maximum effect and get info on Riley's surface thoughts. He has to beat Will 15 to resist.

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

Ameliya's eyes took on a dark expression as she watched Kels heal Caggan from the brink. Despite the tavern owner's recovery from his beating, Ameliya had still held on to hope that he'd still die from his injuries latter if not now.

The madame sighed. She supposed it wouldn't take that much effort to simply convince the Archbaron to have Caggan executed for resisting arrest along with all his other offenses against the barony. Or maybe she could just convince her compatriots to manhandle Caggan in a manner that would cause his wounds to open up all over again? Either would be agreeable, really.

"Try not to work yourselves to hard when it comes to carrying the lummox, darlings," she says sardonically to Lily and Jerax. "Chances the man will be going to the scaffold anyway depending on how generous a mood the Archbaron is in."

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Ameliya's eyes narrowed as Kels made his confession. The truth was that she couldn't fully decide on whether the bard was telling the truth or not, bare bones and largely uninformative as it was.

She was the verge of questioning him again when she heard Caggan miraculously stir from his pool of blood. "Of course he's still alive," she mumbled disparagingly under her breath before turning to the others. "Well, since Lady of Graves seems unwilling to do us all a favor, I suppose we'll need to bind darling Caggan. Does anyone have a rope or chain fit for the task?"

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

Ameliya had to suppress a sneer from forming on her lips as it became clear that the bard somehow managed to resist her charms. Refusing to be denied the chance at ripping information from the panicking idiot, Ameliya decided it was best try a more traditional tactic of information retrieval. "Yes, yes. Poor Caggan is dead or close enough to it," she admitted, doing so in way that was both matter-of-fact and sinister at the same time. "But why focus on him when there's a more pressing matter. Like I said, you can avoid the same fate Kels if you act smart and tell us what you know of the Angel Knight."

The sight of a bleeding out Caggan did precious little to wither Ameliya's smile as she stood over the dying man. If anything it turned it into a smug Cheshire cat grin. When matters shifted on what to do with the dying man and his establishment, the madame looked towards the tiefling and gave him a playful tsk tsk. "Come now, Jerax. We aren't desperate thugs looking score mere food or drink, are we?" She asked, estimating that the holy warrior's devilish faith and sense of reason would prevail over his understandable thirst for revenge. "Besides, I see no reason to perform a raid when our darling Caggan likely won't live long enough to deal with the consequences. Furthermore, while it is a shame that we'll miss the pillorying, Slenk is quite right in his cost-benefit analysis. Best to let the fool die here and focus on the greater mission. Which..."

The psychic eyes promptly turned to the cowering bard in the corner and shined with an almost predatory gleam. "Has just found its first significant lead."

Waltzing up to the terrified minstrel, Ameliya made her formal introduction to the man with her typical grace. "Hello there, darling. Riley Kels is it? I know things may have turned rather gruesome in the last few minutes, but know that such a fate can be avoided if you are willing to provide us with some information." The psychic's gaze more intense and her voice turned more seductive in its pleading as she called forth her powers of enhancement. "Please, good sir. Tell us all you know about this rebellious Angel Knight. Do it for Cheliax. Do it for Longacre. Do it for me."

Casting Charm Person on Kels. Once again that's a Will 16 or 17 depending on whether Kels is part human.

With the tavern brawl now started in earnest, Ameliya sets her cold eyes on a reawakened Caggan, preparing to blast him with her powers but wanting to taunt him first.

"You should listen to my fellow enforcers of the law, Caggan," she says with sardonic sweetness."If not, well..." the psyhic smiled as she unleashed a onslaught of psychic power on the tavern owner's mind.

The moment Ameliya heard the whisper and the proceeding raised voices she knew a fight was on. "It looks Caggan isn't going quietly. What a pity," she says to the others outside, her tone making it clear she was by no means alarmed or saddened by that fact.

With a wave of her hand, the psychic once again summoned a coat of psionic armor to protect her in the upcoming fight before she promptly moved within the tavern itself.

Casting Mage Armor.

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

As they readied to depart, Ameliya made one last bow to the Archbaron, more or less satisfied with the proceedings.

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

Ameliya had to suppress wide grin as she saw a ripe opportunity fall right into her lap. The madame's eyes moved back to the tall and imposing Archbaron as she readied to make her argument. "The Last Stand is quite the profitable establishment, Your Lordship. I would be a terrible shame if one of your sources of tax revenue was disrupted because of Caggan's lack of loyalty. Perhaps you would see fit to grant me, your loyal agent, the tavern's deed as an added punishment for Caggan's crimes? Public humiliation is all well and good, of course, but perhaps a more material punishment is in order as well to truly make it known to the townsfolk of Lonagacre that such crimes will not be tolerated."

As with all the others, Ameliya swore the oath aloud, speaking in perfect diction as she made it. "I swear my absolute allegiance to Archbaron Darellus Fex, Her Infernal Majestrix Queen Abrogail II of the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune, and the Empire of Cheliax."

When the fires of the orb burned a mark into her hand she suffered its pain with a slight grimace. The scar was unseeingly to her eyes, but Ameliya figured that a glove, makeup or even magic would be able to hide it away.

Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

The revelation that Razelago was a creature of the Nine Hells did not come a shock to Ameliya despite the admitted suddenness of the reveal. Indeed, the fact that the devil's natural form was a mixture of a fly and toddler seemed almost appropriate given how much the madame had come to find the creature's elusiveness to be annoying. Regardless, given the devil's relation to the Archbaron, Ameliya saw fit to give the creature something approaching renewed respect and deference.

Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Infernal:
"It is good to finally see you in your true form, Razelago. Better still to know that we can count an accuser devil amongst our allies. How fortunate of us."

"Why of course not, my lord," she said with a sweet smile.

In actuality the madame found such oaths to be surefire ways to some kind of unseen or wanted servitude more often than not. after all, in Cheliax oaths had a power that could quite literally rouse the forces of Hell against you. That said, Ameliya pegged this ceremony as just that just that. Ceremony and little else.

Besides, she had already sworn her soul to one of the infernal Queens of Night already. This Hellfire Compact was nothing compared to the literal blood and flesh that was shred for that.

As such, Ameliya moved gracefully to the black crystal, her features now wearing a mask of false reverence for the task she was about to undertake.

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

When directly addressed by the Archbaron, Ameliya maintained her beaming smile. She wasn't entirely sure if the mention of her profession was a slight or not, and worse yet knew that there was little she could actually do about it if it was. Regardless of the Archbaron's intentions, the proud madame answered the Fex's question with a white smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Yes, Archbaron. I am indeed a daughter of Cheliax's eldest city, but I came to here to Longacre to enjoy the opportunities provided by your rule of the barony."

When the Archbaron spoke of the threat of the Glorious Reclamation and their new official employment, she nodded her head in understanding. In truth, it only confirmed what she already suspected but the unfolding war and Longacre's place in it. The salary was relatively of lesser importance, but she was hardly one to ignore chance at well-earned coin. Of course, there was other matters that needed to be addressed. "Archbaron Fex. I thank you once more for this opportunity, but I must ask of the finer details of our service to you," she began, her voice being of the most respect and deference. "By your order the previous sheriff was removed from her office, and as such I must ask whether you intended for one of us to replace her in that duty? If so, know that while any one of us could serve in that role, there is also the issue of also replacing the old sheriffs treasonous deputies, who I might add, foolishly decided to assault us while we were in the process of disseminating your new laws. As your new agents are we also expected to replace these deputies on our own? Or will you provide us some of your household guard for the task?"

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

Ameliya had arrived at the Scarlet Crown in her best and finest adornments. Her gown of blood-red silk and lace was enough to be eye-catchingly immaculate but not enough to be overly risque to the courts of Chelish nobility.

When her chill blue eyes landed on the Ameliya made her curtsy and flashed the Archabaron an absolutely beaming smile. "Lady Ameliya of House Arvanxi, at your service. You do us a great service by rewarding us with your presence, Archbaron. Know that we all here are more than willing to continue to work in the employ of the barony and to you and the House of Fex."

I'm also doing just fine with the campaign all things considered. The pacing has been pretty good so far and there's been a nice blend of opportunities for roleplay and combat. I also love the distinctness of the NPC's.

So, yeah, I'm good so far!

With the night finally upon them, Ameliya decided it was finally time to leave the hovel that served as Longacre's jailhouse for her own abode. "I'll see you all tomorrow for our meeting. Try not to kill our prisoners while I'm gone."

Female LE Human Psychic 1 | HP: 11/11 | AC: 15, T: 11, FF: 14 | CMB: +0, CMD: 11 | F: +1, R: +1, W: +4 | Init: +1 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30 Ft.| Spells Known: 0—At Will|1st—2/5| Phrenic Pool—2/2 | Active Conditions: Mage Armor

Ameliya rolled her eyes as she was forced to hear the poultry curses and smalltown dramas that were exposed to her in the jailhouse. It was all pointless racket in her opinion. Still, the madame felt it prudent to say something to the over defiant former deputies, if only out some kind of camaraderie for the people she was currently working with.

Her cool blue eyes narrowed on the deputy in question as she evenly informed them about their predicament. "You do realize where you are, don't you? As lowly as you are, I have to imagine that you at least know of the sear magnitude of your crime and folly. Assaulting representatives of the Archbaron, the very man whose laws you were supposed to enforce and know, was as suicidal as it was stupid. That idiocy will be punished in due time, I assure you, but I would ask you keep in mind that my halfling friend is quite right in that the level of sentencing is still very much up in the air. So please, stop with the schoolyard immiseration. It is embarrassing for one and like as not serves as just another tug at the rope you and your compatriots have so stupidly put across your necks."

Ameliya took a moment to mull over her next move. The idea of sitting in a jailhouse as a mere guard was certainly not the most appealing choice she had forced in her life, but there was the oft-chance that the idiots that had attacked them could achieve some kind of escape if all or most of them weren't there to guard them.

"I'll meet you all at the jailhouse whose I've made some arrangements at the Sweet Caress. I can stay there for a couple hours, but if we are to meet the Archbaron tomorrow I'll have to return there so I can properly prepared for such a meeting," she says, already having taken her gold and preparing to leave for the Sweet Caress.

Ameliya, as this is going to most directly pertain to your character, I'd welcome your thoughts on the manifestations of a psychic's spells and spell-like abilities.

At the moment, I'm inclined to just go with the letter of the FAQ in that spell-like abilities have some sort of manifestation, even if silent and still. A lot harder to stop you from casting them (blindfolds and bindings won't matter) but still evidence who is doing what.

I think that's a fair ruling that even psychics spells are noticeable despite them technically not having showy spell components. Of course, so far, you've been pretty lenient on that since Ameliya did get away with casting Detect Magic in the middle of a huddled with no one noticing. Maybe more subtle spells like Detect Magic, while still noticeable, require a relatively low Perception or Spellcraft check for someone to realize that magic is afoot?

Of course, if that's a bit much, I'm totally willing to just accept that Ameliya's spells are indeed notable regardless of how low-key they are. After all, Ultimate Intrigue has a bunch of feats that help with that anyway, so its not that big of a deal.

Ameliya's eyes ran across the large wooden post, but found nothing of interest that caught her attention. When Doctor Gerya came around to ask annoyingly fair and measured questions on the possible technicalities of the Archbaron's new laws she watched and let Vade use his legal expertise on the subject to handle the situation.

Jerax Hellfire wrote:
"All those issues are under the purview of the Archbaron," responded Jerax as the group walks back to the jail. "His Lordship made those decrees. His Lordship must have a means to carrying them out."

The psychic would only pipe up once they started to make their way back to the jail. "But if that were the case he likely wouldn't have need for us." Ameliya shrugged causally, "Either way, it wouldn't hurt for us to look for hirelings of your own. If only to help supplement the Archbaron's forces. There are plenty of veterans here who will be in need of work. We simply need to find the means of paying them and encouraging to see the value of working for our illustrious Archbaron."

During his asmodean studies in Egorian, the tiefling had heard of some spells from conjurers he encountered in Dice's End.
"Slenk", breathed Jerax, trying to cool down enough to be civil. "I heard there's a low-level spell wizards use to clean up anything. Do you know which spell I'm talking about, and if you have, can you use it on me?"

Now that they were out of view from the prying eyes of the tavern-goers, Ameliya causally snapped her fingers, causing a shimmering corona of purple light to envelop Jerax for the briefest of moments before vanishing altogether. In that time, Jerax's soiled clothes and armor were refreshed and cleaned as if they were never tainted at all. They also smelled slightly of cinnamon.

"There you are," Ameliya says offhandedly, mildly pleased by her results, "Good as new, I trust."

Unless whoever wrote it has addendums that clarify what the natural course of business is, then it raises a rather useful loophole. We have found ourselves to be, for all intents and purposes, the new enforcers of justice. Anyone who we deem to be outside of the natural course of their business is in direct and flagrant violation of Archbaron’s order and shall no have recourse for whatever judgement we deem necessary.”

Knowing that her own business could be endangered by the new laws, Ameliya wasted no time on jumping on Alixus's interpretation. "You are quite right, Reverend. These new restrictions ultimately exist to ensure that the possibility of rebellion amoungst the townsfolk is squashed before it can even form, so it only seems prudent for us to only deem those business we suspect of disloyalty to be found not undertaking the natural course of their business. After all, we have to still think of the town's economy in these trying times.

As she bore witness to the soupy mess Jerax had been so rudely hit with dip onto the tavern floor, the madame raised an eye brow in mild surprise. She was actaully impressed the tiefling had managed to keep his choler in check after such a humiliation. Ameliya couldn't rightly that she would have if the situation was reversed.

Wanting to make sure things didn't escalate for certain, the psychic moved to where Jerax stood and whispered into his ear. "Well done for controlling yourself, Jerax. Bolgart is a fool who most certainly suffer a fool's demise in due time. Just like those idiot Iomedeans. You just have to wait for the proper time and this slight will be repaid in full."

As they stood outside Veda's home, an agitated Ameliya swept at her gown trying to get out some of the blood that had gotten on to it. Her mind still lingered on the damnable deputies that had the gall to attack her. It took Jerax talk of their business at hand to bring her out of it. "Given the... rowdy events that transpired when you last went to the tavern I'd think it wise that we hit it well before night falls," she says sardonically, her obvious desire to avoid an another fight plain of her face. "Why risk having another bout with idiot fools, especially drunk ones."

With the deputy right in front of her unconscious and the other closest to her and Veda dead, Ameliya's cold blue eyes turned to one of the remaining fools who was still standing and fighting.

The deputy attack almost sent Ameliya reeling to the ground as she was stuck by the brigand. Fortunately, she was able to keep yourself standing and endure the pain at her sides. Even as Ameliya spat mostly sincere venom at the deputies her mind was focused on conjuring a veil of psychic energies that could provide her protection.

Ameliya greets the former artillerist with a kind but entirely insincere smile on her lips. "Both my friends here are quite right, Bo. "One of us hopefully. You or Jerax perhaps," Ameliya causally replies to Lily. In her mind it seemed as if their group was the only force truly working to keep Longacre within the imperial fold. So why not one of them? Still, there was always the possibility that such a naked move would prove inciting to a populace that was accustomed to Rhona's more forgiving attitudes. The best case was that Fex was able to find some well-loved local that was also a loyalist to the empire.

After Ameliya takes her own set of keys and safety stows it away in her clothes she says as much to the others, "But if it isn't one of we all better hope that its someone Fex can trust explicitly to keep order. When Ameliya finds it frustratingly difficult to gauge Cimri's mental state, her eyes move to watch the jailhouse, somewhat concerned that the rest of their party hasn't returned yet.

From across the town street Ameliya smiled as she saw a now unemployed Rhona walk away from her former place of work with what little dignity one could muster when they've unceremoniously been given the can.

"A pretty sight, is it not? Incompetence being rewarded with dismissal. Such a rare thing, too. I suppose we should count ourselves lucky for having seen it." she says mockingly, seemingly indifferent to the fact that Rhona's niece was right beside her.

It was a test, of course, a way to see whether Cimri gave away a more signs of conflicted loyalists. Ameliya's vivid blue eyes subtly moved toward the other women, checking for more weakness.

Though she tried it hide under her anger, Ameliya sees the fear in Cimri's eyes as she storms out the Ash House. Nodding in agreement with Slenk she says, "Indeed. The girl puts on a brave face but she's scared. Better she deal with putting up these decrees while we confront with Rhona."

Ameliya sighed. Sometimes she wondered why people found it some difficult to deal with members of their own family. After all, she had murdered hers without much fuss.

The madam turned to Jerax and Veda, the two people of their group who seemed to know Cimri best. "Could one of you speak to her? Her lingering attachment to her aunt may become a problem and it would be in all of interests if Cimri was convinced of that fact before it does."

Ameliya reads the decree methodically, looking them over for any insight in regard to the Archbaron's mindset or possible plans. When she's done she concludes that Fex is, for better or worse, thoroughly done with using a 'light touch' when it came to managing his rabble-rousing peasants. "These decrees will not go down will with the townsfolk, I fear," she says clinically to the others. "Given the war and this Angel Knight I understand the need, but the Allamars will surely use them to drum up more support."

When Razelago begins to speak of replacing Rhona, Ameliya's eyes immediate flit towards Cimri. The girl was obviously disturbed by the idea of her aunt being removed in a more permanent fashion. It was a liability, and worse it was a personal weakness that could very well impair them all at a crucial moment.

With that in mind, Ameliya immediately asked Lily's question with, "The sheriff should be first. Her removal was inevitable really, and she's already looking into us. The faster she's deal with the better. And besides,"[/b] she begins pointedly looking toward Cimri. "With her gone to pasture there's less chance of us having to engage with her... violently."

With her expected summons comes, Ameliya readies herself to once again meet with Razelago and the others. As with yesterday, she dons her cloak disguise before setting out to the burned manor. When she arrives at the Ash House she waits by Razelago's door, being noticeably impatient for their meeting to occur.

Ameliya let out a heavy sigh. "Of course, he isn't here when an actual issue arises. Typically." The madam shook her dismally at the inconvenience. For a moment she weighed whether it would be prudent to simply stay overnight at the Ash House to await Razelago's arrival in the morning but ultimately decided it was utterly beneath her to do so. "Well, this was certainly an eventful night for all of us, yes. So much so, that I'm quite done with it. Ameliya turned to make her exit, but not before making one last comment to Jerax and Cimri. "Try not to hurt yourselves overmuch, darlings. Biting can be quite the thrill, I know, but over excitement can be ruinous the next morning if overindulged." And with last wink she was gone.

Ameliya sighs when she hears of the group's explanation for the tavern brawl. After their break in they should be doing their best to lie low and avoid undue attention, but it appeared that wasn't going to be in the cards. "Well, at least none of you killed anyone. If you had I suspect Rhona and her lackeys would already be here. Speaking of which..." the madam turned to look at Cimri intently.

"You are quite right that this place is beneath me, darling, but I'm afraid that I had no chose but to come given who just visited me. Your aunt suspects something, Cimri," Ameliya finally says, turning her voice into a low whisper that only the group could hear her. "She came to my brothel and asked me questions about the break in at the tannery. She practically accused me of being involved with it even though she obviously had no evidence to prove her case. Apparently, Louslik was unwilling to give any descriptions, thank Asmodeus. Even so, we must be alert from now on. Your aunt may be more of a threat to us that the Allamars."
