Watching as the thugs come out, Alistair mumbles quietly through the spell.
We got bigger problems then trying to follow him. They got a runner off. We do not have much time before we are hunted. Being stealthy is fine but sooner or later we will be seen. A fight most likely will happen...so be ready.

warriors come out and play... ok am I showing my age? This almost seems like that is what is going to happen. Lol

Alistair catches Garran's eye and nods towards the departing thug.

Meanwhile, the Half-Orc takes Alistair's coin and pours him a drink. It's watered down rum, a sailor's drink known as Grog.

Alistair looks from the Half-Orc to the thugs and then back to the Half-Orc. He downs the Grog in one gulp. Nods appreciatively at the bartender and turns to head towards the door. Motioning to each of his companions to head for the door. As he gets to the door...

Gentlemen, no need to be rude...I will wait outside for all of you. I will take one at a time or all at once. Whatever your desire.
With that he winks and blows the speaker a seductive kiss.

While the others make the rounds in the main room, the handsome man goes right to the best sources in any drinking establishment. Stepping up to the bar, he places a silver coin on the bar. When the bartender returns, Alistair slides takes a drink and turns to watch the story bneing told. He makes sure to keep an eye on the thugs.

Alistair turns his head this way and that, trying to get a sense of where they are.
I am not sure exactly where we are but I might be able to direct us to a place where we may get some information. I have made the rounds here a few times.

I do not think we will have any trouble moving about the city, I doubt even the high and mighty queen would block off every entrance to and from this city. We head east out of the city by way of the north bridge. Once across we have two options. A...we turn north and make for Trails End. That neighborhood is not too friendly but I have had a drink or two there...and yes I lost my coin purse just about every time I was there. I think we could get a boat there...for a price. Option B..we turn south and make for Thief Camp which is just above East Shore. Most people there do not care much for the majority within the city itself but we should be able to find what we need there. Once we get a boat we sail north and then west. We land on the north shore of Old Korvosa. Stash our boat and make our way inland. All under the cover of darkness of course. This is if all goes well and we know how our luck is, so it should be fun.

Alistair is a bit taken aback bu Alika's suggestion.
That is not an option. No offense but there are...some rather large creatures that hunt in those waters...It was bad enough seeing them from the safety of a boat. I do not wish to see them up close and personal in their own environment. I suggest we just walk in. The Greys have orders to keep those inside...well inside. I think we could just walk in. Getting out will take a little more work.

He stops and thinks for a moment.
We could take a boat back and forth from the north shore. Coming and going from the city through trails end and the north bridge. They have put so much effort into keeping people inside the island that they may not have the resources to secure the land around the island.

Field Marshall Kroft...I would ask of you...a favor. Given the current situation within the city...I would...My family is minor enough to be overlooked by the queen...for now. I ask that you get word to them to leave the city and head for one of our stables in Veldraine or better yet...Magnimar. There they will be safe from retribution for my actions.

He tilts his head to the side in thought.
It might even be a good place for sable company to regroup.

He drops more coin on the bar in a separate pile.

Keeping his voice down low
Well it would appear that she is consolidating her power base. First she secured her allies and now she is openly removing those that threaten her. She is dangerous and must be stopped...or even Heroes...will become her ally...or a threat. I do not fancy myself an ally so that creates quite the predicament. We should try and solidify our ground before to much is lost.

I made a post to kind of tie in the characters development. During the first book he was a drunk and it would get a bit worse. Then he would start to get better by book three. I felt it would be proper for him to get out of his funk and become a happier drunk. With the time skip...I just decided to bring it full circle and make him a happy drunk.

Sitting down at the table brings food to go with his thoughts. As he contemplates the assortment of food laid out before him, a voice cuts through his musings.
Good to see you again Mug...
Alistair turns to his right to look at the cook that is just smiling with excitement. The word has become a moniker of his real name. He has come to accept it as not only the low point in his life but also a point of rebirth.
Always good to be seen...especially these days. Thank you for the food, much appreciated.

He turns to enjoy his breakfast but his mind has run back to that fateful night.

They all were just trying to relax after Cressida's request to secure Trina and keep her safe. Alistair was not happy at all and his drinking had taken a darker path of late. Anger seem to boil to the surface too rapidly these days. Sitting at his table alone with too many empty tankard about him, the handsome man kept to himself mostly. This night was different. A group of four young men had come in to the tavern and proceeded to make a home for themselves. Their age was proof enough that they lacked the manners to be respectful of those that worked hard to make a living. The rude behavior and loud disrespectful tone was becoming all to apparent to those around them. One such man had grabbed one of the servers and tried to sit her down on his lap. She of course was not having it and tried in vain to get away. Her efforts did however spill the drinks she was carrying onto the young man. He was furious and showed his anger by striking the woman across the face, which knocked her to the ground. This brought the tavern to a stand still. The young man continued his assault on the woman with his fowl mouth. The words themselves almost as vile as his actions. His laughter for some reason kept the others from coming to the young woman's aid. The man lifted the woman back onto her feet with a lack of gentleness. Alistair could not see straight at all and it took him some time to understand what had just happened. Turning his drunken attention towards the commotion brought a level of anger that he had never felt before. Standing up and stumbling his way towards the group of men brought slurred words out of his mouth. To him those words were crystal clear and of perfect tone for the current situation. To everyone else it was just gibberish. As he got closer the young man took notice of Alistair and directed his words towards him but he only got about half his sentence finished before they were cut off. The dashing nobleman grabbed a silver tankard from a near by table and let his arm hang at his right hip. Alistair's hand, turning white from his grip, brings the tankard up in a circular motion over his head, completes the circle back down at his hip, and snaps his hand forward. The silver vessel sails through the air under the now empty tray that belong to the server to strike the young man in the throat. He fell to the ground grabbing at his neck in a jumble of pain and emotion. Before his companions could do anything at all, Alistair had reacted. The young man on the far left had a well used rapier touching his throat from across the table. The one on the far right had a elegant black boot resting gently on his manhood. The third young man that was in the middle had a very drunk and very angry nobleman staring at him. Two words were said and those words were understood by all in the tavern.

Stepping away from the three men Alistair returned his weapon to its sheaf and looked down at the man on the floor. His jaw was broken and his throat had been cut open from the tankard. He would live but it was Alistair's reflection in the blood stained tankard that gave him pause. For in it he saw how low he had come. The anger on his face. The stains on his clothing from his drinking. The dark circles under his eyes. He barely recognized himself. He returned to his table as the tavern slowly return to normal. A now full tankard sat there untouched the rest of the evening as he stared at his reflection in alcoholic surface. Sometime later he woke up at the same table he was drinking at the night before. All the empty mugs were gone except for one. The silver tankard that had a slight dent in the side. Alistair took a look at the vessel and paid particular attention to the damage side of the mug. Turning it this way and that brought to his attention that there were words etched in the bottom.
Here's to Cayden! May he show us wisdom in the bottom of a glass.

Alistair had heard tales of Cayden but never paid much attention to them. He continued to drink but his drinking had become less angry like. That night brought a clarity to his mind. He started to learn more about drinking than just the blackouts. As time passed by and they continued to save the city...his name changed. He was becoming known as Mug. A simple name. A reminder of a dark time and a reminder of a time of healing.

I got rid of the Gloves as the main reason to have them was for the bonus to hit and damage.

I did not know the cape was third party...sorry about that. Got rid of that as well.

Readjust the feats and now two combat feats are what I took for the bonus feats.

So with no 3rd party stuff. May I rework my character to better fit the image I had for him. That feat was a perfect fit for the direction I originally intended but not a problem for me. I can rework it and still make it work. Is that ok with you?


We are in need of a new GM for a Curse of the Crimson Throne. I would say that we are about 1/2 to 2/3 the way through the 1st book. There are at least two players that wish to continue with a third that has voice desire but have not heard anything from for some time.

Alistair dodges the spear enough to come up under his guard and stabs twice at this exposed flank.

The handsome man steps back and resets his stance. Still not sure if his right handed weapon connected flesh or armor as it was hard to tell now but he knows the left one slid right on past the target.
You sure you do not want to give up. You keep tilting when you really should withdraw...You have a chance to live if only you were smart enough to take it.

I have been going through some rough personal stuff lately and I am sorry that I have not been as active as I would like. The quantity of my posts is not there nor is the quality. Planning to move in a couple of months (again) with the drama of personal life and the stress of figuring out all the logistics of the schools for the kids, housing, new doctors and my wife's career is just one huge quagmire of red tape and hoops to jump through. This has all led me to a state of total physical, mental and emotionally drained.

I plan to keep up as best I can with the games but as I know you understand, this is a game and will take a back seat to RL.
Bot me as you need to. I hope and pray that this mess is resolved soon and life goes back to normal.

Alistair casually walks over to the doorway and looks in over Alika's shoulder. He leans against the door frame and smiles widely at the ex guard.
Master Vancaskerkin...you are...or more appropriately were a guard of the city. There was a chain of command to follow and you decided against that for personal gain. No time to wait for the man to talk. Got to move quick and hope for the best. Would have been better to come in all quiet and slow like.

Moving quickly to get to the door, Alistair sighs as he sees that his way is blocked by to many people. Looking up at the window above to see if anyone notices. Not able to see anything from this angel helps the young noblemen to make up his mind.

He moves quickly through the crowded room up over the counter to land beside the door with weapons in drawn and ready. His body pushes back into the corner in hopes of hiding him from view.

I am home from Pennsic War 48.
Lots of excellent fighting and good times even with some very sore ribs.

I am at Pennsic War 48 till August 11th and I will be back to normal posting at that time.

I have my phone and I have the ability to post but the responses will be limited and at odd times. I will have to limit how often I post as my wife has gotten my oldest daughter involved in pokemon go. This is eating up a lot of our data for our phones. I want her to enjoy the game so I am limiting what I do with my phone until we get back home. If it is needed..bot me.

Alistair quietly slips into the shadows and walks toward the wooden gate.

Once there he looks for items that are on ground and proceeds to jam up the gate. Placing rocks and sticks under the gate but also wedging them into the frame of the gate.
