Just ran my party through Skulls Crossing. I'm a generous GM so I often have a tough time challenging my players. They had a cakewalk with Grazuul but the added encounter with the Skull Ripper nearly decapitated our dwarven paladin who has been having a heyday with the mostly giant (ogres, trolls) adventure. Our goblin ranger/rogue/shadowdancer kept failing his save on its dread visage ability. It was saving against the wizards fire spells when he would beat its SR. Finally they got Grazuuls trident to the paladin who with a crit felled the monstrosity. Fun encounter.
Spoilers...

They are all human and they are all siblings. And they are all level 2.

After the initial assault of Sandpoint, my players caught wind of a captured goblin being held in the Sandpoint jail. They interrogated him and learned of the 'secret mission' to the graveyard. They also learned that the goblin was from a place called Thistletop (they forced him to tell them where he was from). So before I could set up the kidnapping of Ameiko by Tutso or anything really, they were all ready to go investigate Thistletop.

They met with Aldern the next morning and went on the boar hunt with him and after they killed a boar, they sent Aldern back to town with the boar and they headed to Thistletop.
Which gets me to my problem of sorts. Assuming the party is successful in Thitletop and find and defeat Nualia, how do I introduce the Catacombs of Wrath and run them without them feeling anti-climactic after their success at Thistletop?
Given that you are making a human monk and already have your racial abilities recorded and have generated your attributes (str, dex, wis, etc). And assuming you are making a level 1 monk, here is what you do.

Hit points: Monks get a d8 for hit points but at level one you don't roll, you get all eight. Plus you get your constitution modifier added (or subtracted for low con). So 8+Con modifier.

Skill points: Monks get 4 plus their Int modifier in skill points per level, including level one. Since you are human you get an additional skill point per level including level 1. At level 1 you may buy a rank in any skill. If you buy a rank of a skill considered a monk class skill you get an additional +3 (but just the first time you buy a rank in that skill). So 4+Int mod+1(human) skill points at first level.

Favored Class bonus: It looks like Monk is going to be your favored class. So each time you take a level of monk you get a bonus. You can choose either an additional hit point or an additional skill point.

Base attack bonus: At level one your base attack bonus is +0. Add this value to your STR modifier for melee attacks or to DEX modifier for ranged attacks.

Base saves: At level one all of a Monks saves are +2. Add this value to your Con modifier for fortitude saves, Dex modifier for reflex saves, and Wis modifier for will saves.

Feats (and bonus feats): At level one everyone gets a feat, humans get an additional feat, and monks get an additional bonus feat. The feats you get for being level one and for being human can be any feat you qualify for. Your first level monk feat must be Catch Off-Guard, Combat Reflexes, Deflect Arrows, Dodge, Improved Grapple, Scorpion Style, and Throw Anything. So a total of 3 feats at level 1

Flurry of Blows: At level one a monk gets flurry of blows. When you attack as a full round action you may make a flurry of blows gaining an extra attack. Instead of using your base attack bonus for this attack add your flurry of blows attack bonus to these rolls. Note that this bonus is lower than your base attack bonus at first level but at fifth level it equals your base attack bonus and at 9th level it begins to exceed your base attack bonus.

Stunning fist: At first level a monk gets the Stunning fist feat for free (yep we're up to 4 feats at level one now). A monks stunning fist feat is quite a bit better than it is for anyone else so be sure to read about it in the monk description in addition to the feat chapter.

Unarmed Strike: At first level a monk gets Unarmed Strike as another bonus feat (5 feats at level one now). Again Unarmed strike for a monk is better than for anyone else so read about it in the monk chapter and the feat chapter. Note that your damage for unarmed strikes at level one is 1d6 (this will improve as you level).

Thats about it, after you record all this, figure out your equipment (monks really need very little) and you should be ready to play.

EDIT: Whoa ninja'ed by so many, I'm a slow typer.
Ok, I'll take a stab at this...

One of my players is going to play a Jester from Dragon Compendium.

So far the adjustments I have made are:
-Increased hit die to d8
-Used the spell progression and spells known as PFRPG Bard using the Jester spell list
-Reduced the Perform(Comedy) skill rank prerequisites of all the Jester's Performance abilities by 3.
-Adjusted the skill list kept all skills it had before, dropped all the ones that don't exist anymore, and added skills that old ones were moved to.

To me, the class still seems underpowered(?). It lacks a capstone ability which isn't too important to me as I doubt we will make it to 20th.

The player said that an older version (first or second edition?) of the jester had an ability that if someone tried to scry, or read thoughts (not sure which or both maybe?) the caster had a chance to be affected by a confusion spell. I think that might not be a bad ability to add (at about 8th level?)

Anyway any thoughts?
I'm about to begin running Rise of the Runelords using PFRPG. One of my players is going to play a Jester from Dragon Compendium.

While these spells make you appear to be the creature, granting you a +20 bonus on Disguise skill checks, they do not grant you all of the abilities and powers of the creature. Each polymorph spell allows you to assume the form of a creature of a specific type, granting you a number of bonuses to your ability scores and a bonus to your natural armor. In addition, each polymorph spell can grant you a number of other benefits, including movement types, resistances, and senses. If the form you choose grants these benefits, or a greater ability of the same type, you gain the listed benefit. If the form grants a lesser ability of the same type, you gain the lesser ability instead. Your base speed changes to match that of the form you assume. If the form grants a swim or burrow speed, you maintain the ability to breathe if you are swimming or burrowing. The DC for any of these abilities equals your DC for the polymorph spell used to change you into that form.

In addition to these benefits, you gain any of the natural attacks of the base creature, including proficiency in those attacks. These attacks are based on your base attack bonus, modified by your Strength or Dexterity as appropriate, and use your Strength modifier for determining damage bonuses.

If a polymorph spell causes you to change size, apply the size modifiers appropriately, changing your armor class, attack bonus, Combat Maneuver Bonus, and Stealth skill modifiers. Your ability scores are not modified by this change unless noted by the spell.

Unless otherwise noted, polymorph spells cannot be used to change into specific individuals. Although many of the fine details can be controlled, your appearance is always that of a generic member of that creature's type. Polymorph spells cannot be used to assume the form of a creature with a template or an advanced version of a creature.

When you cast a polymorph spell that changes you into a creature of the animal, dragon, elemental, magical beast, plant, or vermin type, all of your gear melds into your body. Items that provide constant bonuses and do not need to be activated continue to function while melded in this way (with the exception of armor bonuses, which cease to function). Items that require activation cannot be used while you maintain that form. While in such a form, you cannot cast any spells that require material components (unless you have the Eschew Materials or Natural Spell feat), and can only cast spells with somatic or verbal components if the form you choose has the capability to make such movements or speak, such as a dragon. Other polymorph spells might be subject to this restriction as well, if they change you into a form that is unlike your original form (subject to GM discretion). If your new form does not cause your equipment to meld into your form, the equipment resizes to match your new size.

While under the effects of a polymorph spell, you lose all extraordinary and supernatural abilities that depend on your original form (such as keen senses, scent, and darkvision), as well as any natural attacks and movement types possessed by your original form. You also lose any class features that depend upon form, but those that allow you to add features (such as sorcerers that can grow claws) still function. While most of these should be obvious, the GM is the final arbiter of what abilities depend on form and are lost when a new form is assumed. Your new form might restore a number of these abilities if they are possessed by the new form.

You can only be affected by one polymorph spell at a time. If a new polymorph spell is cast on you (or you activate a polymorph effect, such as wild shape), you can decide whether or not to allow it to affect you, taking the place of the old spell. In addition, other spells that change your size have no effect on you while you are under the effects of a polymorph spell.

emphasis mine

Gaming Style? hmm, I like to see my character grow and gain power but I don't think I'm a powergamer. I like to let the story help dictate the skills I buy, feats I take, etc. But I'm slightly more interested in mechanics than story but pretty balanced really.

As a DM I tend to give my players too much power. Generous ability score generation and bunches of extra treasure. And then they whine that encounters are too easy.

Favorite Module ever? I liked reading Rise of the Runelords: Burnt Offerings but haven't had a chance to run it yet. I'm hoping to put a group together after I have time to read and digest Pathfinder RPG.

I once ran a group about halfway through Age of Worms but due to conflicts with work schedules and such that group broke up.

Most unbalanced character you ran? I once played a monk who I felt was underpowered. I took the dodge/mobility/spring attack feat chain and spent most fights running up, missing (or hitting and not doing damage that passed DR), and then running back. I felt worthless in combat but I was a great scout. I was the mage-killer but we almost always faced really big tough guys and rarely mages. I think the PRPG has done much to bump the monks power without making them too powerful, time will tell.
Age? 40
