- Aballar has ambitions to write great heroic ballads in the vein of Mintiper Moonsilver, but his epics have a habit of transforming themselves into maudlin songs of heartbreak about whichever damsel has been dominating his thoughts for that particular tenday.
- Aballar’s paternal great-grandfather was an Uthgardt barbarian of a tribe since vanished from the North. Aballar makes much of this ancestry, though in truth his family know very little about this barbarian heritage.
- Perhaps because of this Uthgardt ancestor (or so Aballar claims), the bard has a hearty interest in battle. He’s an enthusiastic, but decidedly unskilled warrior, and has yet to prove himself in real combat.
- Aballar is a native of Leilon, having returned recently after five years studying in the bardic colleges of Silverymoon. He is once again living with his family (the Brokenwoods are a family of cobblers); he is bored beyond measure.
- Aballar’s cousin, Davalentar Sorrim (a cleric of Selune), was a member of the adventuring band known as the Swords of Leilon, and was slain not so long ago at the hands of hobgoblins (see Cyclopaedia of the Realms p21).
Note for DM; I happy to make a Aballar a non-native of Leilon if it doesn’t fit with your campaign plans.
