Eh I'll have to chew on this one a bit. I for one am not a fan of starting another KS when the previous one isn't yet fulfilled. Still I'll keep an eye on it I am intrigued... Honestly I gotta say though I do like that Henry Lopez at Paradigm (the Arcanis folks!) delayed his Arcanis KS because he wanted to wait for the previous KS he did to ship to backers first. There was a little disappointment but also respect for that. =) Having said that, if End is vouching for how far along this is that outta alleviate a lotta concerns. He's top notch and certainly knows a thing or two about products ;p
Eh I think it was a lot of all the above. Having your KS run the same time as Reaper, Frog (and to a lesser extent Legendary, Adventure Quarterly) isn't going to help, not one bit. Truth be told I thought Legendary would have done a bit better had it not been competing for others KS dollars. Having all the creative staff sort of fall off from promotion isn't helping. Look at projects such as Razor Coast. Logue, Lou, the former Blondie Frog, and others kept releasing teasers, doing interviews, and promotion. Finally, and maybe it goes against the spirit of KS, but it takes a lot more convincing to get me to KS people who I think aren't as proven in the field. The publisher on the KS intro page admits he's never published anything...which already makes me reticent to spend money. They may do a bit better by teaming up with an organization who has successfully published, as at least then we can feel fairly confident that we'd receive this.
I've always found the frogs very cooperative when I've asked questions personally, one reason why I keep going for their products even though I so rarely get to use them! :/ I believe they've fully admitted on the boards here about some of the issues going on with some of the subs, and spoke quite personally about it which I think many people appreciated, respected, and understood. Honestly it's a pretty small community we're all in so I think the word has gotten around about the difficulties. It's unfortunate but with some of the things that were going on (personal issues as well as personnel changes) completely understandable in my opinion.
Price is too high and the book is system agnostic. Pass. I can always just rock old Dark Sun material or re-skin my 4e campaign setting if I'm getting material where I have to provide crunch myself. That, and as much as I respect one may have passion for music making it what seems the defining selling point of this is just pushing the price up on something without adding much value for me.

WotC so poisoned the well with it that I'm not even going to bother looking at 5th edition. They've lost me forever.) This still going on?
In answer the OP, I don't think it's really come up at all in games. Well, ok when I was a teen there were always the jokes about gay people, teen thing to do especially in the nineties I suppose. Then again, back in those days the campaigns generally had PvP within 10 minutes of starting so seems things change! If an AP or mod has homosexual characters I wouldn't change it to hetero or anything like that, but at the same time I'd more than likely not go out of my way to introduce homosexuality if I'm making up my own stuff.
So there are some here that think power gamers won't take backgrounds to get the best mechanical advantage? Oh boy...when I played LFR I'd say at least half the characters had the born under a bad sign background (let you use your highest stat for starting bonus hp rather than con). I'm interested mind you, I just hope these things are balanced well I guess :)

Cory this thread was started in large part to thank Paizo for being inclusive. I would daresay if they weren't as inclusive there may be some who wouldn't feel inclined to buy their products. At the risk of sounding crude the days of hiding in the closet are way over, even in tabletop gaming. One of my buds that I used to play with was gay, so I for one am happy that the game includes more variety and ways for him to feel welcome at my table.
Fair enough, though to be honest that's a fairly not safe for work thing to post there, even if it is only a link. But since you're somehow hinting that im the type to say and do those sorts of things you feel entitled to do so. Mind you, I'm not an admin so obviously my comment about suspending someone was in jest. Additionionally, I hope you're not offended over my saying boob plate I wasn't the first to mention that. Finally, I mentioned griefing because it seems to be THE hot topic about this game. By all means, crusade on.
Last time I played a Pathfinder Adventure Path campaign, we were rolling up characters for Council of Thieves. Was told we could use Heroic point buy or roll 4d6 drop lowest re-roll ones. I obviously chose rolling. Started rolling up at the table everyone was at...didn't know I had to announce to the DM for him to watch it. Midway through rolling I hear "no no no no homey, I gotta watch"...as if I'm going to cheat in front of 5 others who may be watching me anyways. **Rolled** 17,
It was something to that affect. Rolls were better than the ones he had me restart from heh.I even looked at him cockily and thanked him for letting me start over ;p Said I always wanted to try a monk >< Just wanted to share that =)
Eh the problem I have with it is, by and large I see way too commonly that people suddenly play the role play card when it comes to rogues stealing party resources. The better question is does the player ever roleplay with his other characters? Sometimes it seems the person just wants to rip the party off and so the rogue conveniently fits. |
