Aaaaaaand another week passes with no player's guide. This is... words fail me.

Sara, I think we all hear and appreciate what you're saying and appreciate the hard work you all do, but is mine ready yet? IS IT??? I have to know!!!

WHY MUST I WAIT? WHYYYYYYYYYY????

Sorry, please carry on.

Ok, how about an AP that let's you play as dragons? No, I'm serious. How amazing would that be?

That's a deep quote from the Mummy. Well done.

Please tell me their is someway I can play the scorpion guy. That would be freakin' sweet.

I've always wondered how a 20/20 gestalt class stacks up against a 20th level class with 10 levels of mythic. Would they be comparable or would one blow the other out of the water?

Are we going to get any word from the designers regarding what they learned from the playtest, and potential changes/directions for these classes in the final product ?
Yes. In the form of a big book.

It's always nice when people jump in to provide dumb responses. As I understand it, a meeting was supposed to happen last week that got moved (possibly) to this week and from that meeting we will see some feedback. Enough, hopefully, to make these classes closer to what the end product will be once the book comes out.

My hope is the devs will throw us a bone in the form of some post-play test analysis for people like myself who want to play these classes in a functioning form until the book releases. I don't need all the bells and whistles but a little duct tape should hold us over.

New puritanism, as it relates to this community, refers to the overreaction to such things as cleavage, exposed legs, etc. That by us seeing such things, and enjoying said objectionable things, somehow makes us sexist neanderthals.

This is a weird iconic.

Realism is great and all but I'm more interested in fun and the cool factor. Magic makes all things possible and I bet we could all think of some cool instruments that could also serve as weapons. Why not?

Go die in a hole realism!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Can we agree that, as a class, this one in particular should get instruments that also work as weapons? Lute axe, flute dagger, etc.

6 people marked this as a favorite.

I hope you introduce an entirely different kind of "axe" for this class. And if not, why not?

Why people just can't wait to see the whole class before going in to panic mode is beyond me.

Not until they see the rest of the class they're not.

Gotta love how the one class the majority agreed was too strong got a boost.

Or you guys could wait to see what the entire class looks like before being snotty. Weird idea I know.

I agree with everything you've just said. What worries me a little is a trend I keep seeing about the demonizing of attractive characters, and I'm not talking about just the ones that have the bikini armor. Attractive, at least based on some posts both here and on other forums, is somehow now a bad thing. Even an attractive face is problematic now to some. I do understand that not everyone feels this way but this is a trend I'm definitely not a fan of. I'm not saying every character has to be a supermodel or even all that attractive, but I do like a little moderation on both sides and hope this doesn't lean too heavily one way or another.

Jessica, does Pazio have contract female artists? If you found some good female artists I think the problem of semi clad female character drawings would go away. After all male fantasy artists pen female art drawings as their as their idealized minds see females in a Fantasy setting.

BTW the new Swashbuckler female Iconic is awesome.

Not everyone hates attractive women and men in fantasy art. I'm not saying everything has to hang out all over the place but I don't think making everyone look average and covering them head to toe in armor or clothes is something everyone wants either. Can't we find a nice middle ground?

Your players will take it more seriously than being attacked by a Georgepeppard any day. A Georgepeppard fires a machine gun at you that only does property damage and the bullets avoid you entirely.

I just ran the intro to this AP for my players and they are near the half way point of the first site. I used the history of Wati in the Wati section and paraphrased it. As for the invocation, I said the lottery started with a prayer and then went in to the actual opening fluff. No one really cared that I didn't have something more specific for that part of it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The thing I really wanted, after reading it, was more info about the other adventuring groups. A paragraph or two about the various members of those groups or interesting locals don't require stats or additional math and would have more worth to me at least.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I second that. Your writing is spot on. Like many I believe that fiction belongs in novels and not adventures. I think if a survey were conducted about what people want in the APs and gave us optional choices to the fiction I'm not sure the fiction would be the top choice.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

This was the first fiction I've read that I felt was relevant. Why? Because it detailed a place I will be using in the adventure. With that said, I would prefer to toss out the fiction all together and replace it with smaller fun facts about locations in the setting that help make a place more interesting and personal to the players. It's those small details that help paint the picture of a living breathing community.

I'm also a fan of more adventure material as others have stated here. I think it would be cool to have a section dedicated to side quests. Perhaps small events that help flesh out the setting or story.

I agree somewhat with the original post's perspectives. The thing that we lack the most are generic prestige classes not tied to the Golarian setting. I like some of the setting specific ones but they are very binding flavor-wise. Yes, as a GM I can tailor them to my needs but I don't have time for that. Just give me some non-setting specific prestige classes and I will be happy.

As far as feats go, I think we have enough and then some.

The party consisted of one paladin of Iomedai, a cleric, a monk, a wizard, and a rogue.

As for hindsight, one thing I did at the end, because they were a pretty tough group, was to allow them to try to get through the end fight at level 4. Yes, I could have leveled them to five but they were clipping along at a solid pace and the best part, because they had burned through all of their spells and were dangerously low on potions, was it boiled down to a photo finish and they were under the belief the whole time that they were inches away from a TPK. I don't kill groups, and rarely characters, but they didn't know that.

Ultimately that harrowing desperate finish made it feel that much more satisfying for them.

Hey everyone, I ran chapter 1 on saturday and we're just getting to the start of chapter 2. So far it has been smooth sailing. My only complaint is that I found all of the fights in part one to be pretty easy and not all that challenging. Granted, the characters are feeling out how combat works and the group dynamic but most fights were whack, splat, done.

Traditionally I have found martial classes to be boring. The 3.5 fighter was plain vanilla and the barbarian not much better than that. The original TOB was a breath of fresh air. It swept aside boring and gave us something exciting. Then came 3.75 and now the fighter is much more in line with what I would imagine they should be and for the first time in a long time I enjoy playing a fighter.

Now with that said, I will happily and readily set the fighter aside for any of the TOB classes without looking back. Nothing against the new fighter, but I looooove martial/magic classes. My concern with the feedback thus far, and their have been good points made, is that in an effort to balance the warlord class their is a chance of over correcting and making them less efficient and killing the overall fun of playing them in the first place. Please don't let the loudest and most repetitive voices water down these classes because they have an unspoken agenda to make these classes mediocre.

There's a couple in the 2nd adventure. Never fear!

I hope it doesn't get overdone though. We get it, inclusiveness is good, just don't beat me over the head with it. I'm cool with everyone loving everyone but some moderation makes it feel more organic and less forced. I hope that didn't make me sound like a hater. I'm really not.

Will their be an equivalent prestige class similar to Jade Phoenix? I loved it both for its blending but also because it had a really cool story behind it. Thanks.

Yeah, um, about that. I have friends who are teachers in three separate schools (2 High Schools, 1 Elementary school), and in classrooms nowadays there are plenty of left-handed desks, more than enough for the percentage of left-handed students. But let's just ignore that because you want to feel like your discrimination is equal to other peoples'

Hey, guess what!

DADT was repealed!

So by Tholomyes standard, we can stop worrying about fairness for GBLT! Life is a wonderful world. :-(

I happen to come from a rural area, and can tell you that just because you have your data points, doesn't mean that it's universal.

Lefties still face difficulties. Heck, every time I move, I have to reconfgure my desk because the movers' default configuration is for a right handed person.

Lefties, like myself, don't face any difficulties. At best your talking about mild inconveniences. Why are you trying to make a non-issue into some kind of weird discrimination that doesn't exist?

Liz please don't feel like you have to wait to send us the PDFs at the same time the books ship. If the PDFs got to us sooner I promise none of us would be mad at you.

James I've seen you ask for support votes like this in the past on other potential products from fans like me and honestly I almost missed this post. I'm betting many do. I would love it if you guys ran some polls on projects like this you've been mulling over but in a place where we can easily find it and vote on it.

Just my two cents.

Listing the ring, to me, feels kind of pointless. There is no way the characters can buy it before they are off and away and no matter how desperate the town is for aid I can't imagine someone in that community being crazy enough to part with something of that value "for the greater good." Haggling it down would also be pointless as there's no way to get the price down enough to afford it. That leaves stealing it. Is there a scenario here I'm missing?

Awesome. Fun fact: only the males are poisonous. If it's a male she's holding then she's holding it the wrong way. They have poison spurs in their back feet.

See Bugly the problem is you are taking "The sky is falling!" knee jerk reaction approach to a product announcement that 1) we barely know anything about and 2) will be available for play testing. Why get all freaked out about it now?

Hi. I've been looking for any new product announcements from Paizo at Gen Con but I've only seen the Mythic announcement. Was their anything else mentioned? Thanks.
