Save the Date!

On the first day of Paizomas, my GM gave to me…

As we close 2020, we give you exciting news of a new Pathfinder Playtest! Just after the new year we’ll release a playtest with two new classes for you to create, play, and share feedback on. The playtest will run from Jan 5-Feb 5. We wanted to share the news so you can plan some games in that window. For our organized play community, players will be able to try the playtest classes and earn credit for a Pathfinder Society character at the same time.

A general looks over a scale model of the battlefield, determining the best place to deploy her troops.

Be the first to play two new Pathfinder classes in just under 2 weeks!

Not sure how to find a game? Check out warhorn.net or our VTT partners (Roll20, Fantasy Grounds or Astral) for games. Need a pre-made adventure? Consider using a Pathfinder Society scenario (you can run them outside of Society rules), link together a few Pathfinder Bounties, or try Troubles in Otari!

We hope you all have a safe December, enjoy a cup of virtual cheer, and we’ll see you here on January 5th!

Huzzah! Let the speculation begin!

Interesting! I wonder if they are updates to PF2 or something brand new...

Whoa!! Say what??!! Awesome!

YES thank you and what is it this new class ?

For the last book, I'd have much rather had an inquisitor than an investigator. So hopefully we'll get that.
I really liked the hybrids from the class guide. The shaman and arcanist. Or will we get a completely new never before seen class?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Classes. Plural. And you have to wait. :)

I'm betting on Gunslinger. Other than that, I have no idea.

What do we have to do to get a hint? :D

Man, I'm super excited regardless. This is great! ^-^

I wonder if it is for the magic book due next or a later book? If it's the magic book then something like an Arcanist, Shaman or Inquisitor (Possibly also the Kineticist which would be cool)

If it's for a different book then it could be anything.

I do wonder if they might be going down the line of adding very specific character classes into Lost Omen books. I'm thinking of something like the Gunslinger in a book about the Impossible Lands.

Wait we can Playtest for PFS Credit?

That's neat!

New playtest before the book the last playtest was for is even out? Wild. Wonder if we're looking at two martial characters for a new Ultimate Combat since the last one was two magic characters for a new Ultimate Magic.

We're bringing the commoner back! I'm so excited!

Just kidding, real classes inside:

EXPLOSIVE RUNES!!

Could be one or the other, could be both...

Could you give us a level range for the Society Playtest so we CAN plan ahead?

They will be playtestable (is that a word?) at levels 1, 3 and 5, same as the pregens.

I'm wondering if we're gonna get two more classes for Secrets of Magic or if that is for another book coming 2021. Either ways I'm fine by it. I'd love to see Gunslinger and Shifter in 2e, but they'd probably wouldn't come out in the same playtest...

Pathfinder 3? Guys, I realize that the life cycle for a system's probably a bit shorter than it was 20 years ago, but this seems a little soon.

Wonderful surprise! Ready to give constant and endless feedback. :)

Putting my imaginary money on gunslinger and something else, and a equipment based book late 2021. But not so secretly I'm praying to every deity that one of the classes is kineticist.

Liberty's Edge

Gunsli-Erm... I mean Drifter & Occultist is where my money is at.

gunslinger and occult classes would be my guess.

They did mention at GenCon that they planned to start adding in new content entirely to their PF2 releases, so it's possible that we are seeing the gunslinger and something ele. I hope so. That would be awesome in a tech/equipment release.

Really hoping we get the Occultist as "focus caster nonpareil" but new classes are always fun.

Hoping for something completely new. Maybe a tactician of some sort.

They've said guns are coming sooner than people expect before, so gunslinger is my guess (and hope). The other, I'd expect either a new class or kineticist.

What...what in the...wait we can create a class?! Is this a typo? Do you mean create fixes for it like we did with Magus & Summoner?

P.S.
I'm thinkin' there really is some news for Gunslingers. I'm ready to see some firearms.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm going to guess Inventor. If that includes the gunslinger, then I'm hoping some kind of Tactician or Mastermind class, but if not then a gunslinger too.

But I'm excited no matter what we wind up with. An Occultist would be lovely.

Playtest announcement? That is a very thoughtful birthday present, Paizo. Thank you!

ETA: The picture indicates a tactician style class, but this could be misdirection. We shall soon see, in just under three weeks!

I'm still gunning (pun intended) on the idea that the gunslinger is going to be an archetype, so I have zero clue what these new classes are going to be.

They were pretty clear during GenCon that they expect the gunslinger would be a full class. Obviously that didn't set it in stone, but I'm fairly confident that they have a much bigger plan for gunslinger than just a bolt-on proficiency.

Please let one of them be a Kineticist. Kineticist and Arcanist would be really nice.

And for the love of Aroden, DON'T make a gunslinger. Guns in fantasy games are super lame.

I think guns are fun and Aroden was awful, so bring on the gunslinger!

I do seem to remember Mr.Buhlman saying something along the lines of the gunslinger likely being introduced alongside a bunch of equipment for them as support, in a tech or equipment focused rulebook, and that it would probably come soon.

I.... But.... You....

There's no book for these announced yet!?

I am going to guess Inquisitor and Shaman. We need at least three classes to cover a conversion of Occult Adventures, and no other unconverted classes require as much work to convert as the two I named.

I appreciate you, lol.

But also I need to know!!

Can someone from Paizo with spoiler privileges tell us whether either of them is a completely new class? We're eventually going to get a class that's not a version of something we had in PF1, after all.

Judging by the picture l, I’m guessing a Warlord/Tactician class which would be super cool!

Wait, to clarify is this 2 UNSEEN new classes, or are they Summoner and Magus patch 2.0? I'm perfectly fine with either!

Not without getting fed to the warehouse raptors, they can't.

Definitely not the latter. This is separate from Summoner and Magus!

Whether or not they are entirely new classes or if one/both are PF1 conversions is apparently kill-you-if-I-tell-you news for Paizo staff. :)

PS Gunslingers appear to be by a giant margin the most requested returning class, so I don't know why people are hopeful that they never appear in PF2. Of course they will. I'm sure they'll be rarity-gated, but they absolutely deserve to exist.

Are the warehouse raptors trained in haruspicy?

If they did, they'd be fed to the warehouse smilodons.

Praying for Gunslinger and something Warlord-like.

Well, I believe there was an attempt to train them once, but they kept eating the entrails before reading them.

Or so I've been told...

+1 to the Gunslinger, and +1 to a completely new class! Hopefully another martial to counter-act the 2 new spellcasters in SoM.
