Starfinder Core Rulebook Errata

Friday, October 9, 2020

For those who missed it earlier this week, we have updated the Starfinder FAQ and Errata with errata for the 1st and 2nd printings of the Starfinder Core Rulebook! You can see these errata in full by expanding their dropdown, and they are also fully searchable using the search bar at the top of the page.

These changes exist largely to clarify intent, fix known issues, resolve inconsistencies, and generally improve quality of life for GMs and other players. Some highlights for player characters include cheaper grenades, medicinals, and poisons, while GMs now have guidance on creating gunnery numbers for NPC starships (and better balanced gunnery numbers for many of the sample starships included). Of course, there are a lot of changes to peruse, and we always welcome more questions, comments, and feedback on our Rules Questions forum.

Also note that the changes listed for the 1st and 2nd printings are already incorporated into both the Starfinder Core Rulebook Pocket Edition and the 3rd printing of the Starfinder Core Rulebook. Eagle-eyed readers of these new printings will notice that we also took the opportunity to clean up stray typos and make language more consistent.

Thanks for joining us in our journey to constantly improve Starfinder!

Really fantastic to see all these updates live on the FAQ! Thanks for all the hard work in making them happen.

Archives of Nethys is currently hard at work adding these erratas to the site, and we will have them with next weeks update!

I believe owners of the Starfinder Core Rulebook PDF were updated on August 5 with the release of the Pocket Edition. They can find it waiting for them in their Digital Downloads on paizo.com.

This is great! Would have been nice to get something on what the Exocortex Mechanic's Wireless Hack ability does, though, since as far as I can tell by RAW it can never actually hack anything.

Can we expect the updated errata for the Character Operations Manual in the near future?

We would like to have the Mechanic class features at level 11 (Coordinated Assault) and level 17 (Control Net) that are missing when using Experimental Prototype as the alternate class feature.

Is there some way to download the errata rather than just look at it online? I don't have my desktop running during games...

any news about the pathfinder errata that we were told would come out soon after paizocon?

Is the errata page borked for anyone else still? Page loads for me, but under the search bar, where the errata would presumably be, I just get:
We're having some trouble right now.

Please try again in a few minutes. If you repeatedly receive this error, please let us know.
Error 500
Internal Server Error

It's been like this since the forum post announcing the changes; I didn't think much of it at the time, as others were saying there were problems accessing it.

And yet it still mentions a cyberbow with no such weapon existing... :)

I had that problem but it disappeared a few hours later (I also logged out, cleared my browser history, cookies and so on before logging back in).

Hey Finders. The office is closed today for the holiday.

I'll talk to Joe about the status of the Character Operations Manual errata.

No, there is not a separate downloadable errata doc. There are no plans to make one at this time.

The Pathfinder Core Rulebook second printing is coming soon. It will contain updated errata beyond what was released in the first errata blog. The current plan is that it will be added to the Pathfinder FAQ. There is a blog tentatively scheduled for late October/early November to announce the update and give highlights. The Core Rulebook PDF will be updated when the second printing starts to ship.

I'll push the server error message to the Tech team too. Stay well. Adventures Ahead!

Thanks Aaron!

I still wish Solarians got "free" skill ranks (analogous to the Operative's specialization skills) in his Skill adept skills.
