December 2019 Starfinder Society Releases

Thursday, December 12, 2019

With the holiday season upon us, December also brings a slightly early release for Organized Play scenarios—which works because it gives our community something to play during the holidays and allows the Organized Play Team to enjoy some days off! Our releases this month take us to two extremes of our level range, with a level 1–4 scenario and then our first foray into higher levels with our inaugural offering for levels 9–12. Let’s dive right in.

Starfinder Society #2-13: Storm of the End Times, a scenario for levels 1-4 from Starfinder Society veteran Nicholas Wasko, takes us to a place first mentioned in our initial quest pack: the oceanic world of Wealdriad. Sent to observe a rare natural phenomenon, the PCs must balance their roles as ambassadors, scientists, and researchers as they set-up on Wealdriad’s mysterious basalt pillars. Of course, not everything goes according to plan, and the PCs must step-up to stop one of the visiting groups from ruining the entire viewing. Storm of the End Times is appropriate for low-level play, while also providing some interesting new lore on one of Starfinder’s most popular species!

As our ongoing Year of a Thousand Bites metaplot ramps up, so does the need for higher level adventurers. Starfinder Society #2-14: Data Purge, by Cole Kronewitter, is our first scenario for levels 9-12 and brings together a group of PCs for one of the most audacious missions yet: breaking into the Lorespire Complex. I want to tell a whole bunch of stories about this adventure, but I think it’s best for players to experience this scenario for themselves. Luckily for everyone out there, Cole has done an amazing job of putting together a “reverse-heist” that involves a lot of different encounter types, some career capstone-level encounters, and even a bit of time to just sit back and snack on an apple or two.

Here’s a shot of an interesting NPC who the PCs may meet inside the Lorespire campus.

That’s it for December’s preview. I hope everyone can spend some time over the holidays relaxing, spending time with family and loved ones, and (of course) getting in some games of Starfinder Society. Stay tuned for January’s preview, when we come back with a pair of scenarios that take us somewhere we’ve never explored and a return to a planet we haven’t been to since the early days of Season 1.

Join us for next week’s blog, when our newest developer James Case gives us his take on life, the universe, and being a part of the organized play team.

Until next time,

Didn't know that Philosopher worms leave Nchak? O_o

9-12?! My 701 will ride again!

That's nice. My 701 probably won't get the most benefit out of it because he's not level 12 yet, but it's good to have. It being our first forray into content of that level, hopefully it's balanced well.

Scarab Sages 5/5 5/5 Venture-Captain, Netherlands aka Woran

Sounds like both are going to be awesome!

Here's hoping we're going to Aucturn.

"Me too!" Charli grins. "When you get high up in the Society, you wind up getting caught up in administrative duties. I've had to fundraise for Manifold Host and do other things. But now it look like I'll get another chance to get into the field!"

"Did anyone else notice that apple reference?" Trusty sweeps up the cores, and checks to make sure that for once and for all, all the garbage has truly been taken out.

Charli claps her hands at the thought of a charity fashion extravaganza. "I'm not much of a fashion icon, but I have a cute Poshkettle Tea cap and apron. You bring in the style, I'll cater!"

I'm quite keen to hear feedback once Data Purge has been out for a bit to see if it's best saved for high tier. I've got a lvl 10 character, but not a lvl 12. Worth considering all options.
Sounds like fun either way! Weeeee purging rats data! I wonder if this is where those 1,000 bytes I heard so much about are...
(I bring that typo up out of reverence, and not as a gibe - I still maintain the Year of A Thousand Bytes sounds pretty cool, and on-brand for Starfinder!)

If the thousand bites is in fact referring to certain ysoki, I must say, I really hope when a stat block appears for them, they have an enhanced natural attack called a kill-o-bite.
