Iconic Evolution: Lini

Tuesday, April 9, 2019

We’re at the halfway through our Iconic Evolutions series, so it’s fitting that we’re looking at one of the half-sized iconics this week. In this weekly video series, artist Wayne Reynolds takes Paizo's publisher and chief creative officer, Erik Mona, through his creative process in updating Pathfinder’s iconic characters for the game’s Second Edition, coming out this August. Check out this short video of their conversation for a glimpse into the mind of Pathfinder's most iconic visual artist and the first official look at the new version of Lini, the iconic gnome druid!

Each week, we’ll take a look at a different updated iconic with Erik and Wayne, so stay tuned.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

I have found that the best way to terrify PCs is to describe things in unnecessary detail.

I ran a haunted house adventure once and the thing my players told me afterwards spooked them the most was how I kept reminding them about the dead tree in the front yard every time they looked out a window. "The dead tree is still out there, by the way." "What?" "It hasn't moved or anything. You're pretty sure, anyway." "...Why are you telling me this?" "Just so you know."

They never went anywhere near that tree. :P

But dramatically opening the core rules and/or the bestiary on the table for no apparent reason is a close second...

Rolling dice behind the screen for no apparent reason.

But the dead tree description is a good trick. That which is emphasized is important.

He wanted his group to play a really old game almost completely revolving around alignment.

I thought that was supposed to be: He wanted his group to play a really old game almost completely aligned around revolvers.

That was another movie.

Yay!

I love the update, especially her outfit.

Love her snow leopard too, especially his protective snarl, I'd hate to be the monster wandering around their campsite right about now.

Droogami fans, you know what you have to do.
