Huzzah!

I will cast my ballot in favor of Karisa Starsight. Both candidates have very interesting backstories and should be featured in future products.

Karisa Starsight, to my mind, has the inside knowledge to reform Liberty's Edge. She is familiar with the evils of slavery, but also seems to believe in mercy and redemption. She also sets up the possibility of problems with her adoptive father's past and her own mysterious origins catching up with her.

As someone who plays several Liberty's Edge characters, I have had my characters check out some faction missions before deciding what to do. (I have not played every scenario, but I am aware of the issues in what I have not played.) Many of my characters try to balance their lawful nature with a belief in liberty. (I believe that Lawful Good and Lawful Neutral characters who follow either their faiths or Common Rule as a philosophy should be able to find a home within the faction.)

I would have no problem if Colson Maldris died while trying to achieve some redemption for his misdeeds and having both Karis Starsight and Tamrin Credence lead the Liberty's Edge faction. {Redemption for Maldris is possible, but it should take more than an atonement spell.) I look forward to seeing how people vote. We should have more interesting choices like this.

I want them to be co-leaders.

A small fox clambers on top of the voting box, carrying a sack who's bottom glistens wetly and in true Andoran fashion has a few words to say. A surprisingly deep gravely voice booms out from the gray bundle of fluff, echoing across the square

"We've had more than enough "coalitions" and schmoozing. Maldris' "little black book" could fill four libraries. And that's fine. But what has he DONE? What has that gotten us? Not a damned thing I've ever seen."

Grr pauses to move aside as someone casts their vote into the box. Andorans have seen better, and weirder, orations and keep voting as he paces across the ballots to avoid being in anyone's way.

"On the other hand we have someone that's seen slavery, not just looked at it. That knows what they're up against. That's known the price for others freedom , would and HAS paid that price themselves. Someone's who's gains in freedom can be measured in people, not paper. That's why I'm voting for Tamrin Credence. To show slavers what the edge of liberty looks like, up close and personal."

He drops the sack into the box to cast his ballot.

A weathered tengu squints at Karisa and then Tamrin, nodding at them both politely before dropping his vote in.

"Votes should be private." he offers in a gravely tone, then departs.

I've cast my ballot for Tamrin. Several aspects of this character are appealing to me, not least of which include the reduced ties to Andoran and the Eagle Knights. I enjoy the fact that he clearly has opinions about the Society and its members. He's similarly going to provoke opinions from PCs, including at least one of mine.

But what has he DONE? What has that gotten us? Not a damned thing I've ever seen."

"Maldris got us to where we are and put us in the place to correct wrongs for more than a few seasons, you ungrateful Fox."

Marsest shifts his weight and sighs.

"He's not here now though so that's not relevant. Karisa gets my vote if we're required to pick just one candidate, but both have major strengths that would lead me to believe collaboration would be the most effective way forward."

They're both very interesting characters who would make excellent leaders, but of the two Karisa Starsight stands out to me as the one more likely to be able to keep the Liberty's Edge ship afloat through the coming storms, keep its people safe, get to the bottom of whats going on and ensure the faction can keep on doing what it does best.

Tamrin sounds like an excellent field agent and operative but not necessarily someone who would be the best 'big picture' leader for juggling dozens of operations throughout the Inner Sea. Plus the fact that he's undermined a faction leader in the past and possibly even put Pathfinders lives at risk because of it doesn't scream 'reliable leader'.

I do say, how does a member of the nobility partake their fair share in this vote off event?

Liberty's Edge needs a strong voice. We also need a "face" that will be remembered by those seeking freedom and haunting to those who withhold it!

I vote for Karisa Starsight!

Tamrin brings grit and hard experience, and would help us keep an eye on Zarta. I like that. Still, the merciful nature of Ms Starsight could be a benefit as well. Hmm. Tough choice, if one really must choose. Our own Pathfinder Society is run by a council, or so we are told, why not the people of Liberty's Edge?

I like both of them and hope that both continue to be an asset to Liberty's Edge. My vote though must go to Karisa Starsight. Between her training and balanced ways of thinking, she will be able to unite us all and hold us to act in a manner which coincides with the purpose which made the creation of Liberty's Edge a neccesity.

I really appreciate the direction this discussion's going, and it's good to hear that both of these characters have traction. It's entirely appropriate that Liberty's Edge should be voting on these issues.

Two things to remember: First, this voting's open to everyone, even if you don't have a Liberty's Edge PC yet. Second, those who do have a Liberty's Edge PC should remember to download the Season 9 Faction Journal Card, for which participating in the Leaders in Liberty contests/voting is one of the season goals.

Tamrin's decisive stance is what the faction needs to purge the corruption.

"It is a difficult choice, then, that requires careful contemplation and considered thought, not just for our possible pasts, but of our futures to take care.

May all see their own Path to Enlightenment on this matter."

There's a bit of a pause.

"Oh, right, should probably mention... Brother Wei Ji, Aspirant of the Master of Masters, Eagle Knight, from the Home Office."

I voted for Tamrin for a few reasons. The first and foremost is experience. As a Bellflower Tiller he has been fighting the system from the inside for a good while now. Also of note is that he puts further distance between the faction and Maldris’ many misdeeds. Maldris’ skeletons have skeletons in the closet. Lastly, he is a halfing, and halflings are pretty cool.

I vote for Karisa Starsight, because Tamrin wasn't interesting NPC. Tamrin's loyality is very questionable. IMHO Tamrin will be more usefull as Cheliax Custom officer.

P.S. IMHO Laria Longoad is the best option for Liberty Edge. She is an Hell's Rebels NPC, but Eando Kline is AP NPC too, and he is important in PFS.

T's sad not to see Junia Dacilane in the list. I hope, she will become the next leader. And I would like to see her in future scenarios.
But.. well.. we need to have the halfling among faction leaders. Not only because they bring good luck. Not just because he's halfling. But because he looks really cool. LE just deserved a good leader.

Tamrin Credence not only has actual first-hand experience as a field agent but he also already donned the mantle of leadership during a recent crisis in Absalom. How many slaves were freed that day?

I'm sorry to say, but the other candidate doesn't seem to have a lot of actual experience in the field or as a leader. However, her contacts and familiarity with the faction's official matters will be useful--when she's working with Tamrin as his second-in-command.

(Also, the Society needs more halflings.)

While Karisa's experience is appealing, the idea of teaming Tamrin up with Zarta for mission briefings is just too good to ignore.

Also, Karisa seems a little "too good to be true," while Tamrin's backstory of a butler/slave-turned-captain is much more appealing to me than slaver's child-turned-captain. I like the pragmatic Tamrin more than I do the schmoozing Karisa. Seems to me that his briefings could play that up a lot more than hers. Plus, he's a Halfling, I have a soft spot for them.

I reckon I'll be votin' for Tamrin, an' before you say anyfin it isn't coz he's a Halflin' like me. As much as I've enjoyed them parties Zarta throws, havin' someone who has worked the other side isn't a bad idea.
Plus if he starts playin silly buggers I can just Teleport him into the Sun or summat.

Personally I prefer Tameron Credence because I think he will be a more interesting NPC, and I look forward to the sniping between him and Zarta Dralneen.

Voting Karisa Starsight for two reasons :

- She was in confidence to Colson Maldris' plans, and while she doesn't have operational experience, she is better placed to oversee the operation when Tamrin Credence is more on frontline duty and only had indirect involvement with the Liberty's Edge faction. The ability to get above the melee is what a leader may need at times.

- I might see the logic of why the latter might be more suited in that aspect and how he handled his part on tbe Absalom crisis, but for the same reasons it could be dangerous. Being pragmatic and more decisive isn't bad, but I'm holding the Zarta thing against him. Karisa probably will be naive but to clean the dirt of the faction let's not adding more of it even with good intent.

Of course, my vote was given for Karisa Starsight. From this character you can make a much more interesting hero, it will be such a "dark horse", which no one takes seriously at the beginning, thinking that she is naive and young. For its development it will be much more interesting to observe than just a "bad" halfling.

We don't get to see nearly enough halflings that aren't kleptomaniacs, sociopaths or perverts. *stern look at fellow players, they know who they are*

We need to bring the fight to the slavers. We need to be far more proactive. Those enslaving others must be killed!

And the one whom I trust to actively work towards something resembling my personal values and goals are Tamrin!

Of course, my vote was given for Karisa Starsight. From this character you can make a much more interesting hero, it will be such a "dark horse", which no one takes seriously at the beginning, thinking that she is naive and young. For its development it will be much more interesting to observe than just a "bad" halfling.

The way I see it, Tamrin isn't "bad" in any way, aside from allying with some criminal elements for the greater good. He might have a pragmatic outlook, but his backstory is way more gripping to me. I already get a feel of how his mission briefings go, while I have no idea what Karisa's like other than "She's friends with the Eagle Knights."

To be fair though, I like her self-reflecting attitude. The Society could use more of those. Then again, the eternal "action versus inaction"-debate: would you rather wait until you have a clear picture, possibly losing opportunities, or make a firm stand for what you believe in now?

Aside from that, I like Tamrin because I can envision him as a combination of the pragmaticism of Aram Zey and Marcos Farabellus' brash "if you have to break some laws, just go for it"-atttiude. He has a clear moral compass I can get behind.
Also, his backstory can lead to some fun scenarios. Old "friends" coming back to haunt him and such. Plus, Bellflower stories!

I've got a couple of Liberty's Edge PFS characters, but don't know a whole lot about Karisa and Tamrin's roles in the faction other than what I've just read.

There are a lot of ways this could affect both characters and further development, but I not only look at now, but the future for the factions in terms of storyline that can result for this decision, for better or worse.

My vote goes to Karisa.

Consider this a vote for Tamrin. Breaking the chains of slavery isn't always glamorous work. You need someone who won't shake at doing something shady to help the greater good, even if it a makes a Paladin sneer.

Besides that, Halfling representation, and non human races in general, is sorely lacking in the society. A vote for Tamrin is a vote for equality!

This is just a temporarily fill in until Maldris returns right? I like the way he was taking things... Which of these two does the Paracountess endorse, maybe she could give our faction some moral guidance...

<Okay roleplaying aside, I gotta go with Tamrin, its not because he has proven leadership and experience in the field as well as getting results. Its not because Karisa seems like a babe in the woods who allowed her sugar coated glasses to hide Maldris' darker side.

While I do agree with everything I said above, at the end of the day, any time Tamrin appears in game and I hold up his homemade face card, it will remind my players of that scenario where at the end I looked at them and told them all that you all did a evil act willingly and without question or hesitation, anyone good must change their alignment to neutral (the sole neutral person protested their acts the whole time and was spared).

Now Tamrin didn't tell them to go off and do what they did, they came up with that on their own... and I will never let them forget that, specially since the mastermind of it was normally the nice person in the party.>

Winding down from his rant, Zomo turns to Tamrin. "Here is a leader that's proven time and time again that he places the mission ahead of his own luxury and pride! Who has been tried! And found made of iron!"

Dropping his vote in the box, he turns one last time to Kasira; "If you're in, I'm out."
