PaizoCon Product Announcements and Sneak Peeks!

Sunday, May 24, 2015

One of the exciting parts about PaizoCon for a lot of our attendees, fans, and onlookers are the juicy spoilers and announcements that come out of the show (whether it comes from one our RPG or Adventure Path panels, or the Preview Banquet). So, let's take a look at what's coming this November and beyond!

Gather Your Forces!

The Season of the Righteous for the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild starts this week! Be sure to take a peek at the newly released Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild Guide to get yourself ready for laying down cards and taking down the evil that's begun spilling out of the Worldwound. You can also check out the whole line Wrath of the Righteous products here due out later this year.

We also announced our return to Osirion, land of the pharaohs, in the next Adventure Card Game base set, Mummy's Mask! Look out for more details about this release soon!

Hell's Rebels Continues!

There's been a lot of speculation surrounding the 100th issue of the Pathfinder Adventure Path. Now we can tell you! Pathfinder Adventure Path #100: A Song of Silver will be a 128-page softcover issue with several new monsters, revelations about the great mystery himself—Aroden, and a retrospective of the previous 16 Adventure Path campaigns.

You might have noticed that we haven't been saying much about the Adventure Path line lately, or announced what's coming next. And since we've been talking quite a bit so far about hell, it's evil denizens, and the good fight against 'em, it only makes sense to mention what's coming up next:

Hell's Vengeance!

Friends, Food, Good Times!

Whether it's the start of a long adventure, tracking down contacts, interrogating suspects, or just plain enjoying some downtime, inns and pubs are a mainstay of many roleplaying campaigns. During the PaizoCon Preview Banquet, Erik took time to give us a glimpse of what's coming in the next set of Pathfinder Battles miniatures. This next set, The Rusty Dragon Inn comes with set dressings, just like the June release Dungeons Deep, some friendly faces, and monsters that fit in perfectly with any bar brawling, plot scheming, or memory making game sessions.

Other November Releases

In addition to the products above, we've also just announced the following on paizo.com today:

Trust No One

As if it wasn't stressful enough to be a Pathfinder adventurer, a new tome of monsters and other worldly beings is coming your way! Within the pages of Bestiary 5 are creatures that warp the minds of their victims, monsters from beyond the stars, as well as an array of other monsters, familiars, and other allies.

And as much as we know you love monsters, we also know you want more... so I'm going to leave you all with a mockup of the hardcover coming up after Bestiary 5:

Ultimate Intrigue will reveal new options for skill-based classes (like the alchemist, bard, druid, hunter, inquisitor, investigator, mesmerist, ranger, rogue, slayer, or spiritualist), a complete influence system, feats and spells that can be used in social settings, and THE VIGILANTE!

Most of this looks to be right up my alley, so many thanks for the announcement! :)

I love the art for the dream dragon.

Also the Annunaki remind me of the engineers from Alien/Prometheus.

The Fastachee looks interesting.

I keep telling myself, I have too many minis, I have too many minis, I have too many minis. Then, you go and make me change my mind. The Rusty Dragon Inn miniatures set looks like a great themed set.

Hell's Vengeance? A sequel to Council of Thieves perhaps?

I'm thinking it's probably the name of #101. I can't see them using Devils or Cheliax as the main focus of 2 Adventure Paths in a row.

Possibly, or to that and/or Hell's Rebels, which is the one coming next.

I'm actually hoping that Hell's Rebels and Hell's Vengeance concern the same events, so you could play both paths with a different set of characters at the same time. So the actions in one AP formed the background to the challenge in the other.

From what I am aware of via Twitter, Hell's Vengeance is a full AP designed for EVIL characters.

Except they are. Hell's Vengeance is the AP after Hell's Rebels, and is for evil PCs.

Nice. I'm looking forward to comparing this to Way of the Wicked.

I hope this vigilante class turns out to be more interesting then it sounds.

About time. <grin> Some heroes need to get their dead on!

Greys? Annunaki?

As if I needed another reason to suspect a Pathfinder sci-fi spinoff...

Ooh! Ooh! A Fastachee!

Hopefully not the only Native American monster in this book! And hopefully a harbinger of Arcadian news on the horizon!!!!

I like the sound of more native American monsters and sci-fi.

Please, various deities of Golarion, let me have a flying monkey familiar

Dream Dragon = SO awesome, same as Hsigo and Wood Colossus (the colossus for me)

Don't like the sciencefiction dude and really hope the native american creature isn't the only one, rather see Tsemaus, Ugjuknarpak, A-mi-kuk and Amhuluk.

2015 is going to go down as the year that Paizo took the most money from me...

I think the "sciencefiction dude", is one of those aliens that the "Ancient Aliens" conspiracy theorists, think built the pyramids.

From the picture, it looks like they just want to plug in their laptop.

...or probe someone;)

If the Fastachee isn't a fey, I will be very disappointed.

I hope all the esoteric dragons are different alignments or all them are CN.

The dragons (sadly) are named as ALLIES in the bestiary 5 description, so probably 5 good-alignment dragons.

Seeing so much good-alignment creatures and sciencefiction things it seems the designers really wanted to make the book just for you Dragon78 :-p

It probably has Drakes, Lycanthropes and 10+ golems too :-p

Too be honest the only drakes left I really want to see are storm and crystal.

I don't need 10+ golems, though 4-5 sound good to me.

Looks like a wood colossus to me, rather than a golem. I guess by number 5 your going to get a few esoteric monsters. Of course I'm down with that, I love the weird ones.

On the minis front the Rusty Dragon looks like an interesting set, curious to see what monsters make it into this one. Not sure about a Bar as the incentive, if it actually is. Since there's only two sets a year, I think I'd prefer an actual monster, but I'm happy to wait and see.

Any word on the pathfinder iconics line? Sadly quiet on that front. Hope it doesn't stop at three, especially since there was really no new iconics in these sets, I was/am looking forward to the other iconics.

Hi Cat... see that post from Mike.

What will the chase figure for the new mini set be [green dragon?/gold?]

Talking about rusty dragon then it's a bar

Elrawien Lantherion wrote:

Since they've done a gargantuan Green, and the most recent Case incentive was a Red Dragon, I doubt that the next one will be a dragon at all or at least not one defined by a color. Maybe a linnorm? The Annihlator Robot (small hope)? A neothelid? Something else, that is a little odd? Or, if they do go Dragon, I'd suspect either Copper or Brass (the two metallics most likely to be antagonistic to the PCs).

Kevin Mack wrote:

Bold assertion, where's the link with the spoiler to back it up? Not going to lie, it this is the case incentive, my interest has dropped about a 1,000%. I'm all for dungeon / setting dressing, but NOT as a case incentive. Waste of a figure.

Reported here.

Eye rolling* really? a bar?

Elrawien Lantherion wrote:

Agreed, waste of a mini. Especially in light of no firm information on how popular the dungeon dressing pieces will be. Oh well, Just saved myself 30 -50 $ :(.

I had hoped it was a misunderstanding. I am very sad that they went with the Bar as the case incentive when there are so many other things still needed. :-(

I actually like the bar idea; a whole tavern would be even better!

Swashbucklersdc wrote:

Please understand, the idea of a bar is not the issue. It is the idea of it replacing one of the many gargantuan monsters that could have been the case incentive that makes me less than excited. :-(

Statting out the Greys is probably the best thing to have ever happened in the entire observable universe

Agreed. I have no problem with the Bar as a miniature (and I am in fact a big fan of the dungeon dressing pieces and hope they do well), my issue is with it replacing a gargantuan monster, since as a case incentive is the ONLY way Wizkids has been producing the Huge and larger minis for a while now.

With the evolution sets not doing as well as they hoped and the Reign of Winter huge two-pack being a flop, the Case incentives have really become the only game in town for the biggest and baddest of critters.

I can't really think of any Gargantuan monster that would fit with the theme of the set, though.

Bar mini is awesome!

I am really excited about Bestiary 5 and Occult Realms but the Ultimate Intrigue I am about 50/50 on right now.

Booze, evil, and intrigue?!

These are a few of my favorite things:

Decaffeinated song attempt:

Shadowed figures in hallways and whispered suspicions
Glinting of sword points and realized ambitions
Nobles intriguing to bring down their kings
These are a few of my favorite things

Havoc and revolution, the headsmen so brutal
The cries of the massess, their protests so futile
Calistrian antipaladins savoring stings
These are a few of my favorite things

Raging druids call lightning, viewed only through flashes
Secretive Lissalans delivering unholy lashes
Drinking Cayden's brew and inspiring flings
These are a few of my favorite things

When the zoog bites
When the wyvern stings
When I'm feeling ... glad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

... and now back to your regularly scheduled insanity, likely already in progress :)
