Phantasmal Painting

School illusion (shadow) [shadow]; Level sorcerer/wizard 9, witch 9

Range long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)
Area one 100-ft. cube/level (S)

DESCRIPTION
As part of the casting time for phantasmal painting you paint a landscape of your current environment and any alterations to the scene become semi-real illusions. When this spell is cast, multiple semi-real magical effects come into being. Up to 20 levels of spells from either the conjuration, transmutation or evocation schools can come into effect at once in any combination (two ninth level spells and one second level spell, or two sixth and one eighth-level, etc). Each spell is considered 40% real (similar to shadow evocation or shadow conjuration) and lasts for the normal duration for the spell duplicated or the duration of phantasmal painting, whichever is shorter.

Effects of duplicated spells are contained to the area of phantasmal painting and any effect that ventures beyond this area (such as a summoned creature) ceases to exist. Duplicated spells first allow a Will save to disbelieve, then any other save or spell resistance they would normally allow (such as the Reflex save for fireball.)

The caster of phantasmal painting determines when each spell comes into effect. They may all take effect simultaneously, or be added in as part of maintaining the concentration on the spell each round. The caster of phantasmal painting must spend one use of mythic power per spell level duplicated when the duplicated spells come into effect.

This was just the thing I needed after an evening of toiling over encounters for a freelance assignment.

I can confirm that a large portion of my various entries are, in fact, written in coffee shops in and around Seattle. I don't know that I've ever seen any ninjas, but I suppose they could easily have beaten my Perception check!

Nope. The ninjas in the coffee shop are using saucer-sized chunks of your mangled corpse as really messy shuriken, splattering blood and viscera in slow-motion through the air and onto the cafe's other patrons, like a twisted Takashi Miike-Jackson Pollock collaboration.

Are we sure these are ninja and not Deadpool? Because that sounds more like Deadpool.

The reason I'm sighing in my scene is that my sword is on my back (probably because I had to climb in an earlier scene), and it'll take ages to draw it. So I'm going to have to beat one of the yetis with the map, then use his unconscious body to snowboard down the snowy slope in an awesome James Bond -esque chase scene. :P

I'm curious - most spells with durations like this are "Concentration + 1 round". Did you intend to give the caster 1 round to act before they had to concentrate to maintain the illusion, or should it be the reverse (lasting one round past the end of concentration)?

No, the usual way is what I meant. Not the jibberjabber I wrote. I got my horses and carts mixed up. But that's what I get for typing that from my phone! ;)

This is awesome. I'm also going to say this is exactly what happened, because I like that better than the feverish, gross, norovirus reality.
