One Year, Lots of Help

Tomorrow marks my first full year at Paizo, and the 365 days have been busy ones. By my count that's 22 scenarios (Mark Moreland developed #4-20), one updated exclusive scenario, 2 specials, five quests, sanctioning notes for 25 Adventure Path volumes, sanctioning notes for two modules, GM 201, and a rather scary number of boons developed so far. Of course, a lot of that sanctioning and boon writing would have been a lot tougher had it not been for a growing cast of volunteers who help out behind the scenes. I’d like to thank everyone who has provided inspiration and feedback both on and off the messageboards.

Later this week a new scenario and a rereleased exclusive join the list, and I’m particularly happy with this second installment of the Destiny of the Sands trilogy. It’s another one of those adventures in which I really wish I could be there to see the looks on players’ faces when they get those Chronicle sheets. I’ve included a bit of art as a teaser.

Happy gaming,
John Compton
Developer

Congratulations John!

Now you're making me not want to run the background, but just push my players into the Destiny of the Sands arc, just so I can see what happens...

Congratulations!

Can't wait for Destiny of Sands #2, we ran #1 on Friday, and my group not only surprised me with an erotic new use for the climb skill, but in correctly identifying the Geod as Golorion's answer to twitter, as they announced that once they find the thing they are looking for they will report back with "#FoundThem" to their benefactor.

Congratulations on the anniversary. Keep up the good work John.
Oh and since you mentioned sanctioning APs, hurry up and get to Council of Thieves before my group finishes :P.

Congrats, John! You've obviously been doing a great job!

I see you mentioned five quests... when will we be seeing those? I've had one in the submission pile for a long while, just curious where you are on going through all of those.

Congratulations on your anniversary! Can't wait to see what this year brings!

Congrats on the one year anniversary, John!

I actually played Destiny of the Sands part 1 last week and really enjoyed it. Part 2 is tentatively scheduled (not on Warhorn yet) next Sunday. Will definitely be signing up if it shows.

Master Compton,

You took on a huge burden by becoming the PFS Developer. I know we Pathfinders are some difficult players to deal with, but I know I speak for myself and maybe a few other kindred spirits in saying thank you for all your hard work. Also I wish to thank you for your transparency. In the conversations both on the boards and in public, it's been nice to better understand what it is like on the developers side of the screen and what you guys have to deal with in order to provide us the players with more awesome things. And it's greatly appreciative to better understand the issues and things that we as players need to do to improve ourselves and the campaign as well.

Thank you for all you do, now please get back to work making more awesome things.

It's been a year already since you left Atlanta? We miss you being in GAPFS, but it's wonderful to see you doing great things with the Mothership at Paizo!

Mr. Compton,

I had the pleasure of meeting you at this past DragonCon and was disappointed that all the slots of GM101/201 you were running were during times I was actually...well...GMing. That said, I look forward to another opportunity to meet you at GenCon, though once again, I suspect I'll be GMing too much to get a chance to play at one of your tables(if you run any at GenCon) or to go to one of the training sessions.

I have known no one but you in your role at Paizo, as I played my first session last year this week. I am grateful for what you do and if you ever need any more help, I will gladly lend it.

Thank you, sir.

Long may you serve Egorian's interests, and Her Infernal Majesty Queen Abrogail II's Will.

Destiny part 1 was well received at the Jax game crawl.

PFS Organised Play has really lit up under your direction John. I hope there's plenty more years to come!

I hope you still get to play John. I hear a lot about Mr Brock getting out and about and getting the occasional game in, but never much about your playing levels.

I'd like to echo the above posts in saying thanks for doing what you do.

Congratulations on your first year, John! Thank you!

My main Season 5 character is Osirion, and I've been greatly looking forward to playing through this arc with her since it was announced.

If this keeps up we may have to start looking at chronicle sheets...

John you are definitely in the position you are because of your talent. You're a real pro and I enjoyed working with you as the developer of my first real RPG submission outside of RPG Superstar. I'd still love to see your notes on my turnover if or when you can find the time!

Congrats John! It's been a pleasure working with you! All of your projects and ideas are fantastic and have helped PFS grow in tremendous ways. Now, if you would be so kind to go grapple a faction leader. ;-P

John, thanks so much for everything you've given to PFS, both in the past year and beforehand. 4-20 is an awesome scenario, and my experience with you as a GM for Part 2 of Bonekeep was one of my best experiences in PFS. I look forward to many more years with you as our lead developer.

It would take a special kind of party to let that happen. :P

I know I'm late to the party, but congrats on sticking with it through insane schedules, looming deadlines, and still finding time to contribute to RPG Superstar. Hope to see you at Paizocon in July!
