Giving Thanks for Great Scenarios

Monday, November 25, 2013

Every time the last Wednesday of the month rolls around, emotions run high. Usually it's a mix of growing excitement as I watch a pair of scenarios metamorphose into awesome adventures and anxiousness as I hope that the players and GMs enjoy the scenarios as much as I enjoyed developing them. Given that the Thanksgiving holiday approaches in the United States, I think there's a little excitement about turkey, too.

Following in that tradition of giving thanks for the things we truly appreciate, I'd like to offer this short list of things I'm thankful for at this very moment.

  • I am thankful for having two returning authors who were each willing to accept a unique scenario-writing challenge.
  • I am thankful for the new Tier 1–2 scenario entitled The Confirmation by Kyle Baird, which allows infinite replay by 1st-level characters as well as one play-through with a 2nd-level character. There are many variations in how the scenario can play out, allowing players to have a different experience each time.
  • I am thankful for the spookily atmospheric The Traitor's Lodge by Thurston Hillman, which answers many an unanswered question about a certain dwarf who disappeared during a certain siege in Nerosyan.
  • I am thankful for having some really awesome art to show off today to get people excited about these two scenarios.

Both of these brand new scenarios will be available this Wednesday, so you can enjoy your turkey without the blinding radiance of unconquered adventure to distract you.

Happy holidays and happy gaming,

John Compton

Drat. Was hoping to see these Wednesday, for those of us who planned some Black Friday/Saturday gaming. Ah, well.

I don't know what that thing is with the stitched face, but it should be slain immediately. With fire.

No! Maybe they could still be saved!

(Awesome art piece, though!)

Are the Paizo offices going to be closed on Friday?

I like that the halfling Pathfinder is actually using the Wayfinder as a compass...

John Compton is sneaky ninja person. Possibly evil, definitely unseen.

Also, HUZZAH! Scenarios on Wednesday! ^.^

I don't always give thanks for an awesome scenario, but when I do, I leave a glowing review!
Psyched for these two scenarios! Can't wait to see what goodies [REDACTED] forgot to pack before leaving Nerosyan.

Holy crow, I just want to say how amazingly awesome the art is. Both of them!

Of course, I have a special fondness for the more horrific 'thing' you see presented above. I mean, Halflings are REALLY scary ;)

Looking forward to facing your latest cruelty Thirsty! I got to play Siege of the Shining City at a local con a few months ago and it was a blast.

I do like the fact that Ill never have a character who can say he knows about the traitor from Neroysan as my Paladin... died. Only one in our our big event too. Damn Mythic beasties! :)

I noticed someone above said burn it with fire. If its a funky Demon creature, you are going to give it a pleasant fire bath. Perhaps its best you were Pathfindering somewhere else :)

Oddly I feel like ive seen the halfling somewhere before. Is it just me?

Certainly not, she looks pretty familiar to me as well. I don't recall which book she's in though.

Then use more fire. Demons will burn...eventually.

Thanksgiving's that magical time when we release the cave raptors to hunt dire turkeys.

You have to let them eat every third one, otherwise they lose interest.

A more accurate statement I have not heard in recent memory.

She's from the "Advanced Race Guide," halfling section. I was just about to say how cool it was to see her again. :)
