Defective Pathfinder Society Chronicle Sheets

Monday, April 1, 2013

Greetings Pathfinders! We regret to inform you that it has come to our attention that some of the Chronicle sheets included in Pathfinder Society Scenarios published between August 2008 and March 2013 may include a defect in the font used to create them. In order to ameliorate the unfortunate situation, we have made the difficult decision to recall all Chronicle sheets published during this window. All members of the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign are encouraged to destroy all physical copies of there Chronicle sheets. Please send a self-addressed stamped envelope to you're local Venture-Captain to receive replacements.

This defect is generally harmless but in some cases may result in the deterioration of ones ability to properly utilize the english language including but not limited to impoper spelling, punctuation errors; and misuse of homophones. If you have noticed any of the above in you're writing, please ensure that you sanitize all of your dice by boiling them in a 4:1 solution of apple cider vinegar and orange juice at a tempeariture of no more than 250° F and no less than 200° F for at least 12 hours immediately before play.

To make up for this this inconvenience, we have decided to allow all Pathfidner Society players to make pugwampi characters as long as their first Chronicle sheet is dated no later than April 8, 20143. PlYAERS USing this option are not required to bring a copy of the pugwampit rules to there sanctioned event for the GMs's review. Paizo Publishing, ;LC takes no responsibily for player death as a result of sitting at a table with a pugwampi characters and their will be no rebuilding for characters that suffers insanity or other permanent ailments do to the actions of there fellow players. Purple dice will not be permited on days ending in "why" and only red d6's can be used to confirm critical hits. Expect table variation and carry a big stick.

Again, we're sorrty for the inconvenient but we hope everyone will understand!

And, as always-don't forget to play! play! Play!

Are we not unveiling the new rule that "power gaming" and optimization count as an alignment infractions, and that it moves your characters 3 steps towards evil and cannot be fixed by an atonement spell?

Shadow Lodge

Don't fourget about multi-classing to a claric with the trickory domane...

Scarab Sages

Oh man! I am glad this does not affect the Venture Lieutenants at all and my wonderful VC Jason Leonard can fix this. Don't worry, it is only a years worth of work for my local region Jason and no you can not have my detailed database of what pfs numbers belong to which players and which ones they have played and gmed.

Sorry, the only half-pugwampi race available takes the form of a Small aasimar, and Mike has declared that those are not Pathfinder Society legal.

EDIT: Dagnabit, Yiroep!

Well at least this beats the introduction of a min-maxer faction...

Hrmm ... 1/2 pugwampi, 1/4 vishkayna, 1/4 Gnome ... but the backstory is I was adopted by a lovely teifling family, so I should be allowed to take tiefling heritages... hrmm ... sounds good for a paladin ;) confused as all crap about everything

Aww...but if I can't get that I'll settle for a boon that give Brace's of the Faclon's Aim or Thacsilonen Speshilist instead?

Oh boy! I love paperwork and can't imagine a better way of comming in contact with all my players than correcting their chronicle sheets.
Luckily we were warned in due time, so I've gathered a fine collection of red pens for hand-correcting the sheets.

I think that it is unfair that you can only get access to this "racial boon" online. After all, some people like myself, don't have access to the internet. Is PFS going to do something for those of us players that are unwilling to communicate with the outside world?

I had a question I've always wanted to ask.

If I dominate person on a Venture Captain and take them with me, do they need the flank trick to be able to flank?

For those of you in my region, you don't need to worry about this. I've already made sure that you're all taken care of AS LONG AS you've played at one of my tables at least once. For those of you who've never played at one of my tables, then I'm sorry to say you'll have to get into contact with Kristie, James, or one of the other Venture-Captains.

If you didn't already make a copy of your Chronicle sheets, do so now and ensure that you DO NOT let the originals come into contact with any other forms of paper. The chemical used for the font is what causes the deterioration - it's rare among the fonts used by Paizo for this happen, but it has been known to occur. (Last year I had to destroy some of mine. T.T)

For those of you looking to make a Pugwampi, don't forget to have the legal source with you when playing it at one of your local gamedays or conventions either. You can use this Blog post as official reference though (per the ruling on messageboard clarifications), so if lugging the book or printout around is too much for you, just refer the GM here.

Anyways, if any of my guys need help disposing of their Chronicles, let me know and we'll do our best to get uninfected copies reissued to you.

Thanks again,
Beazy

I made sure all of Monterey PFS destroyed their chronicles. We also decided to take advantage of the boon and will be starting an all Pugwampi area.

OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR SO LONG.

You don't even know! I've been lovingly curating my Pugwampi Paladin of Chaldira for this very moment. I've even been saving up GM credit because I knew it would happen eventually! I JUST KNEW IT.

So wait, I'm confused. Technically speaking you're my Venture Captain, so should I send you my Chronicles?

In any event, Iceland lodge is fortunate in that we do not keep written records, so no need for me to mark anything!

I've burned my chronicles (in the name of Moloch) and my red 6 siders are ready to go. What now?

I heard Vin Diesel is coming to work for Paizo? Is it true?

Dark Archive

Becase of the Canadien/Americann exchange rates, I've had two work out a special deel with our organizers. In order to recieve you're chronicle sheet replacement's, make sure to dissolve you're chronicle sheets in a week acid, and than send the resulting pulpy slurry too Paizo.

Wile this is a slightly inconvenience, I hope our players all show up with brand-new pugwampi characters!

Liberty's Edge

I don't know about Vin Diesel but I heard Kyle Baird is going to work for Paizo!

Bob, mind posting your address, so I know where to mail my chronicles?

Ooh, maybe my build for a Gunslinger 1/Myrmidarch 4 that shoots ioun stones from his blunderbuss will finally be viable as a pugwampi!

Question for the devs though, if I crit with it, do the ioun stones become implanted in them automatically or do they need to make their Spellcraft and Knowledge (arcana) checks too? If I use focused shot to add my INT to the shot, do they get that as a bonus to those checks too?

According to Seeker of Secrets, failing to properly implant an ioun stone inflicts 1d6 Constitution damage. If you were to fire 50 at once with a blunderbuss, that would mean several handfuls of d20s rolling Spellcraft or Knowledge (arcana) checks to avoid deadly ranged surgery. Of course, the only way to accomplish this is to play a vivisectionist/gunslinger with a 20th level grit power and the Ranged Cheese alchemist discovery in the yet-to-be-released hardcover Ultimate Gremlin.

They changed their minds because since all classes have a main stat or three, having anything above a 14 or 13 in them was argued "optimization" and therefore EVERY society character would become auto evil...

Screw it, we do so many things in real life that is considered power-gaming/optimization (from saving money to your payments, insurance, etc.) So under those rules, EVERYONE IS EVIL!

mini rant:
Since when was optimizing evil? It's a playstyle. You like role-playing, I like not having to sit out 2 hours because my character died in a dumb way and we can't leave to get him ressed because the scenario is and was time intensive.
