I did have an 8am Slot on Thursday, The GM HQ last year opened like 2 hours before the convention did, by around 8 the place was packed.
That Said I will be there much earlier this year on Wednesday, since I am flying in from Texas and Not Germany, so I should be able to get my Ticket before the booth closes on Wed.

Hopefully I will arrive on Wednesday before the GM HQ booth closes. Otherwise it'll be difficult to get my badge AND make my 8am Thursday GM slot. Looks like we'll be starting our 11 hour drive even earlier Wednesday Morning.
Any one know what time the GM booth closes on Wednesday?
What are the consequences of not having your GM badge for the Thursday 8 a.m. slot? ;)

Since you never can tell what changes on day one at a con, you really don't want the possibility that an over zelous security/con personnel causing headaches that most certainly will get resolved, but none the less will cause a huge headache for players/PFS headquarters.
If you can't be there on Wednesday, try and be there on Thursday bright and early. Hopefully they won't make the mistake of opening GM headquarters at 8:00 AM again this year. (And if that's the case IMHO, run your morning game first, then go get your pass at the lunch break.)

Are there any PFS volunteers without a scheduled slot on Friday night? I am slated to run a table of the Year of the Shadow Lodge special, but then PathfinderWiki was nominated for an ENnie. I'm going to be the only admin from the site present at GenCon this year, so it'd be great to be able to attend to represent. If there's someone who could do me a solid and pick up my spot, I'd be eternally grateful.

I could do it in a pinch Mark, as its one of the few slots that I have open in the run (I'm running 8). If someone else can do it, I will bow to them.
Oh and congrats on the nomination.

No luck Yoda, the other GMs I play Society with are all booked and can't adjust their schedules. Sorry.

When should GMs expect the scenarios to show up in their downloads so that we can prepare for Gencon (Less than 2 weeks now).
Thanks
Robyn
These things always come down to the last minute. Josh does his best to get the scenarios to his GMs, but Paizo does have a process they stick to in the interest of quality. To help out, the GenCon scenarios are usually Flipmap-intensive. This will save most of the GMs time on prep. But the fact is that you shouldn't expect to have more than a week to prep. I know that everyone wants to bring their A-game to GenCon. I do too. But all I can counsel is to be patient, let Josh work and trust that he's not going to be wasting any time between now and GenCon :)
If it makes any difference, we went through this last year. Some players were pressuring Josh to get them their scenarios or they were going to withdraw from GMing. It wasn't constructive and it created unnecessary stress. I know that you just asked a simple question Robyn. You weren't getting hysterical or being demanding. My post was more for the benefit of others who are probably thinking the same thing, and I hope I don't come off as condescending or anything.

Ditto on this, I am hoping to get the maps printed and laminated (I know a guy!), but it will probably take at least a couple of weekdays to do that, or it will my abysmal scribbles after all.
Or, if the mods are going to use flips/map packs, could we get a hint of which ones to have ahead of time?

Estragon, if you are running one of the older scenarios this list may help. (Thanks Cpt Kristov!)

Those of you waiting for scenarios, any scenario released prior to Gen Con should be in your My Downloads by end of day today. The 4 August scenarios + Year of the Shadow Lodge will be likely next week.
Am I to understand that #59 The Rebel's Ransom and #60 Shadows Fall on Absalom are among the "4 August scenarios" that you refer to above?

Yes, though they are now 2-03 and 2-04 (we changed the naming convention starting with the next season).

I could do it. It turns out I bought a ticket for this event before I found out I would be running it at PaizoCon. I'll return the ticket and just judge it again. What needs to happen to make sure I get the revised scenario in my downloads so I can prep it.

Thanks! You should email Josh at josh@paizo.com and make sure you indicate in the email that you want to take my place in this event. Also, find me at the con so I can buy you a drink for helping me out.

Hmm... still haven't seen the scenarios. Are 2-01 and 2-02 delayed to correspond with the 04AUG release adventures?

There's no delay. The first four scenarios of the season are released when the season begins, at GenCon. PFS#29, 30, 31 & 32 were all GenCon releases last year. The GenCon scenarios will become available later in August I think. I don't know what happened to the last two scenarios of Season One though.

If that's true, then how am I expected to prep to run them at GenCon? I kinda need at least a few days of prep time (read em, gather resources, take notes, maps, etc).
I was hoping to set them up to run w/ Hero Lab and D20Pro...

Sorry William, I had thought you were asking when they'd be available to the general population. Yes, all the GenCon volunteers are awaiting the Season Two scenarios. When will they be in our Downloads? "Likely next week" wasn't a promise. I guess it's like all being together in the car on a family vacation and poking Father Josh every five minutes with "Are we there yet?". It won't get us there any faster. Josh can't always see the obstacles on the road ahead. If he speeds up it increases the chance of a mishap. I know this analogy sounds condescending. I guess I am having flashbacks from last year, and I have accepted that I won't have a lot of time to prep. Don't worry about what you can't control. Just try to be better than the GM the players had before you. If it's Kyle Baird, your players will love you no matter what ;)

Mark Moreland wrote:You get to share a room paid for by Paizo with three other people.Possibly a stupid question, but I would assume that means the room will have 4 beds in it?
Typically no. Two queen sized typically, just like a normal hotel room.
If you are squeamish about sleeping next to a complete stranger of the same sex, you can always sleep on the floor, or perhaps ask the hotel for a cot (or bring your own.)
TwilightKnight |
Correct, typically only two beds. Depending on the hotel, they may have a sofa with a pull out bed, but don't count on it.
Many hotels offer rolling/folding cots, but there will likely be a charge for them and they are limited. Arrive early if you want one.
My advice is to grab an inflatable mattress. Amazon has a few that are quite inexpensive. I got one for $20 with free shipping.
Or if you are comfortable, just bring a sleeping bag. Use it as a semi-soft base and get extra blankets from the hotel.
TwilightKnight |
Correct. The only thing you should expect to get from the organizers are the reporting sheets. Sometimes the chronicles are printed, but don't count on it.
Go into it like it's a game at your own house. You need to provide everything to give your players a good experience. Maybe even have extra stuff (pencil, minis, dice, etc) for players who arrive unprepared or on a whim. No one really likes being the d4 (or bottlecap, or piece of lint) on the map when everyone else has cool painted minis. :-)
