Haha I do that, twist arms you know. I'm mean! That's why no one wants me to GM anymore Muahahaha!
The nukkefeen looks in the direction of Jakeric, "Hello Jakeric, I am Anilda. What's everyone else's names?"
Anilda cuts at the air with a pair of scissors in her hand. "You help people? My scissors are dull. Do you have anything sharper?"
Jakeric
|
Jakeric looks a little taken aback. "Um, well . . . no--I j-just have my q-quarterstaff. My f-friends are Cannoli, and D-Daegon, and Guardian, and Vreeka. And that's Lucinus. And the d-divine emissary over there is Grizzlebin! We're here to exp-p-plore and see if the legends about this p-place are true!"
| GM Shadow Dragon |
Anilda awkwardly waves and calls out, "Hello Cannoli, Daegon, Guardian, Vreekka, Lucinus, and Grizzlein. Do any of you have anything sharper than my scissors?"
While waiting for the group to search their gear she also asks, "What do you know about the humans who once lived here? Do you know any stories?"
Okay time to check those notes folks! The PCs can tell a fascinating story about the Sarinis with a successful Knowledge (history or nobility) check or make one up with a successful Bluff or Perform (oratory) check. The PCs gain a +1 circumstance bonus for each topic they have successfully researched at the town hall archives. So select your speakers, stories (whether true or not), add in those bonuses from Saringallow's archives plus ones from earlier in the manor, and give me the results. :)

I think this is sharper than scissors.
I suspect Guardian is not the best first speaker ;)

Anilda smiles (in a creepy fashion), "Yes, thank you, that would be wonderful."
She holds her hand out of Lucinus's replacement scissors.

Lucinus gives Anilda the scissors from his grooming kit, before taking her dull set and setting about sharpening them for her.

She recoils from Guardian XI and says, "“Nuh-uh, I don’t like weapons.”
Anilda exchanges scissors with Lucinus and again cuts at the air haphazardly. In between snips she says, "Thank you Lucinus these work quite well. What do all of you know about the humans who once lived here? Do you know any stories?"
See my earlier post about the skill checks and bonuses. They do have to be trained rolls unfortunately.

i have whetstones for some of my frontliners...+1 damage on first hit of the day is worth the few cp...
Nice to meet you, Anilda...how long have you been here?
She pauses for a moment before replying, "Nice to meet you Daegon. I'm not sure how long I've been here. Time is so difficult for me to track."
Vreekka The Brainiac
|
"Nice to meet you, Anilda. And yes, I know a few stories. Let me start by telling you a bit of the history of Isger and Cheliax..."
Vreekka starts telling a true story about Marcius and Luca Sarini.
Take 10 Knowledge: history, Isger history book: 10 + 17 + 2 = 29
Add +1 for every topic we successfully researched in the Saringallow's archives.
Hm... how many topics were that? (Link) Though I'm not sure which paragraph counts and which does not...
Anyway, even with only one +1 circumstance bonus Vreekka has a result of 30. ;-)

Cannoli’s tail has been twitching in rhythm this whole time and her eyes are giving a long distance stare. Finally, she comes to and exclaims, ”I can’t resist!”
Swaggering into the room, your lovely catfolk bursts out into a rowdy sea shanty.
There once was a man,
A Sarini man,
The name of the man was wasted on me.
The devil drew up a contract now,
Soul below the demon boys own.
Soon may the Sarini come,
To bring us murder and pain and ruin.
One day when the time is done,
He’ll take your soul and go.
She repeats the chorus several times, urging the team to join in, ending finally with a long, ”He’ll take your soul and GOOOOOO!”
Bluff cause she made the story up, even if it is actually true she probably didn’t know the exact details + History Book: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 2 = 30
Perform: Sing just because: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Hah, beat you Vreeka! Assuming you add the same mods we got back in town to both and the history book counts for the bluff. :P

A rowdy shanty AND a dance??? It IS 'Dance Dance Fever'!!!
#2: New Slides on 2 and 3. 2 is the room, 3 is the type of creature Anilda is but she does *not* have blood, knives, etc. around her. I've placed PC tokens in the room. Lucinus would be next to Anilda as he handed her his scissors. Everyone else if you would like to change your position please do so.
Anilda's face produces what's probably a smile? But on her it's more unsettling than comforting.
"Hello smart elflady and singing catlady. Very interesting histories you have presented. I almost forgot to ask: Have you seen my baby? Is she safe?”

I'm sorry to inform you that a small centipede may have eaten your baby! We arrived at the crib too late. In any case, we punished the centipede, but did not locate any babies.
Also technically not a lie.
| GM Shadow Dragon |
@Cannoli: Not technically but Cannoli certainly 'misrepresented' what the party saw in the nursery, swaddled in blankets in the crib...hence the need for a Bluff check.
Anilda sighs but turns her attention to Vreekka, "Your eyes are pretty. Could I borrow them briefly?”
@Vreekka: Since you made the Knowledge check you know what it would mean. What you can't know is the duration so it's up to you.
Vreekka The Brainiac

"You want to 'borrow' my eyes? That would mean I'll be blind while you have them, right? Do you have any specific reason? Or just because you think they are pretty?"

Vreekka The Brainiac

"Hm... well, I need a few points answered before I even consider doing this. First, I need to know for how long you want to 'briefly' borrow my eyes. Second, I need you to promise that you will not try to 'fix' me or any of my colleagues here, not with your scissors or anything else. And Third, what can you offer in exchange?"

Cannoli can't recall anything; perhaps winded from her recent performance?
Guardian XI's programming included information on where Anilda is referring to: the First World. Breaches between the First World and Golarion are a common occurrence and as unpredictable as the First World itself.
Vreeekka's identification of Anilda as a fey creature means Anilda is a native of the First World and not Golarion.
Anilda being from the First World would also explain her trouble tracking/judging the passage of time as time works much differently not just in the First World but between the two realms.

Cannoli pops up from the back with a question, ”Why don’t you take us to where the last portal was and maybe we can help open it up again.”
Anilda smiles again (yeesh it's creepy!) and says, "If someone will guide me I can take you there. It's outside the house. I would rather have your help searching the house for my baby."
If you want to RP it you can but Guardian XI and Vreekka can tell Cannoli you have no way of opening a breach and random breaches appear exactly that way - randomly.
Guardian XI

Guardian whispers to the others.
We hold no means to open such a breach, and no intuition for when and where another random occurrence may happen.

The catfolk frowns, ”Well, it’s up to Vreeka on the eye deal. But like, she certainly doesn’t have to give them up, I know I wouldn’t. My companions say such a random portal occurrence isn’t worth investigating for any reason at all so… I guess I don’t have any issues with helping you find your baby. What did they feel like when you held them and what noises did they make and where did you leave them last?”
| GM Shadow Dragon |
Anilda gives a generic description of her baby.
As Guardian XI surmised above Anilda's 'baby' was the baby centipede in the crib in the nursery.

Although his words can be slow, Jakeric's mind is racing as he tries to understand exactly what's going on here.
"G-guys? M-m-maybe we should just let her keep looking for her . . . baby . . . and we can go on our way too?
I'll go ahead and roll just to see if there's any way to narrow down where a breach to return her to the First World might be located, and perhaps to get a better sense of how much of a threat her kind of fey pose to those who come across the estate.

Jakeric, like Vreekka and Guardian XI, realizes trying to locate a breach between Golarion and the First World is like trying to find a needle amongst thousands of barns full of haystacks.
He can't quite get a read on Anilda; perhaps her fey nature is difficult for him to discern?
No saving that 4 on a Sense Motive - yikes! But see below:
To determine if Anilda would be a threat is a Knowledge (Nature) check. To save some time recall this from the previous page: "Nukkefeens have a peculiar sense of morality. For example, most of them loathe weapons and violence, but think that harming unpleasant people or animals with scissors or similar objects is a way to “fix” them. They are not inherently malicious, though they are obsessed with old, abandoned buildings where great tragedies have occurred. They are likely to settle in abandoned homes, which they take care of in their own peculiar way." And from earlier in this page, when Guardian XI offered his shadow blade, Anilda replied, “Nuh-uh, I don’t like weapons.” :)

Daegon believes Anilda when she says she doesn't know when, or even if, the breach that led her to this world might reappear.

@GM Shadow Dragon: I'm a little confused. Why does she really need my eyes? She seems to be capable of seeing just fine. Examples:
Anilda snips some loose threads from the bed covers.
Guardian XI wrote:She recoils from Guardian XI and says, “Nuh-uh, I don’t like weapons.”Guardian forms his shadow blade and holds it up for inspection.
