After Candledark removes the bar from the door, Oria is able to open the door, revealing the rest of the room to the party. A nauseating yellow light emanates from a glass sphere levitating ten feet above a distant stairway, which leads up to a large copper door etched with geometric patterns and sigils. Dense yellow smoke billows from the beacon’s aura, flowing down the stairs like gaseous water. The sour light casts eerie shadows from the giant taxidermy exhibits and massive stone structures that fill the chamber, making even the disorganized wooden storage crates seem sinister.
The room is dark, except for the light of the beacon which acts as a torch. Those of you with dark vision or light sources of your own can see the small crates at 5ft high and the large ones are 10ft. The taxidermy and other huge items are 15ft high. The ceiling is 30ft throughout the room, while the beacon hovers 10ft below the ceiling.
With the time taken to open the door, 5 rounds have elapsed since you descended the stairs.

CL check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 vs. DC 6 (= scroll’s caster level + 1)
He whispers: "As long as you stay in the range of 10 feet around me, you'll be protected against chaos."
He then 5-foot-steps forward.

Ack, repeated drops of the site and a wonky schedule kept me at bay for a while.
Once again, Oria finds herself face to face with an expression of the dark tapestry with the single minded intent of crushing the life out of her. And no friends to bail her out in short order? What a shame. But the shaman's annoyance turns to fear as she realizes her familiar is also caught in the crushing grip of the tentacles. Surely, her precious little conduit will die before she does.
tentacle damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Skin bruises and limbs are forced in uncomfortable directions as she struggles to concentrate on her magic.
Concentration (DC 10 + 3 + grappler's CMB): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
It's certainly a clever idea. If breaking things is all she's good for, she reasons, why not break the spell she's trapped in? But alas, even that brute force and magical barbarism requires a degree of finesse that seems to be beyond her.
Welp, there goes my only dispel magic.

Shine is not entangled but she is also blocked from entering the room. I do not believe she can see any enemies and if that is true she delays.

DM, please let me know how far that'd get her, whether Drag or Reposition would be better for this, and whether I'd be opposing her CMD or the tentacles's.
| Grandmaster TOZ |
I think even with the expeditious retreat, that's a little too far with both the difficult terrain and avoiding the stealth penalty.
Candledark recognizes the alien creatures as grioths, aberrations from the Dark Tapestry. Immune to the cold of the void, they fight with psychic weaponry that channels their mental attacks through the blades. They also have a poisonous bite that weakens their foes with fear. The third and fourth arms do not appear to be a normal trait, nor are they usually so large, possibly due to magic or mutation.
The grapple prevents all movement, so it would take an action to break Oria free, opposed by the tentacles CMD.

@Grandmaster TOZ: Are the grioths vulnerable to fire?
And I've got another question... what will happen if Kaervek casts create pit on the floor right under the pathfinders - in the middle of the black tentacles?
| Grandmaster TOZ |
Kaervek doesn't recall if they have any vulnerabilities, but he does know they can see in darkness and have no need to breathe. More concerningly, they have short-ranged blindsight.
For the pit, if you can make the concentration check, the floor in that area would drop the distance of the pits depth. But, the tentacles would still reach upward through their 20ft radius. Extradimensional spaces are weird.

|
The wizard shouts: "These are called grioths, they can see in darkness, have short-ranged blindsight and no need to breathe!"
Darn, so the Tentacles drop with the floor. :-( I hoped that they wouldn't be part of the pit at all. Also, the CMB of the tentacles is quite high (minimum +12) - not easy to concentrate on even a 1st level spell. Well, there's not much I can do here. I'll try to survive...
Kaervek sighs. He draws his wand of infernal healing and taps himself with it. (fast healing 1 for one minute)

Trying to keep her party standing and whole Shine channels a second time, using two channels to quicken the healing. She then casts Fireball catching both grioths. She will place the fireball to be as far from the party as possible and still catch them and not the down person in the room.
