Though she doubts the efficacy of her strike, the goblin that Joanna struck topples to the ground, very dead.

Aided by his magic, Kemras' arrow flies true, but a random movement of the singing goblin allowed it to escape with only a superficial wound. Still, it shrieks it's outrage! It dances around in its rage, then mutters some words and puts a hand on its injury, healing itself.

The lone remaining goblin snarls at Joanna as it attempts to slice her with its blade. Screaming it swings wildly, managing to sneak under Joanna's defenses. 3 damage

Joanna cries out in pain as the goblin gashes her thigh. Blood pours from the wound, soaking and staining her trousers and gambeson crimson. She grits her teeth against the pain and tries to put the vicious little monster down before it could follow up.

Unfortunately for the young noblewoman, the pain and shock make her clumsy and she misses for the first time since drawing a weapon at the beginning of the fight.

The goblin attacking Joanne was so absorbed with its target that Sara was able to flank him easily. At her scream, it turned its head slightly, only to catch sight of Sara's starknife descending towards it's forehead. With a hollow thunk, Sara's blade buries itself in the goblin's skull and with a shudder , the goblin's eyes roll back and it slides off of Sara's weapon, lifeless.

The singing goblin snarls as Kemras runs up to it, striking out at him with it's makeshift whip! With a snapping motion and a quick pull, the whip coils about Kemras's ankles and his feet are taken out from under him! As he begin to fall, Kemras strikes out at the goblin, but it nimbly avoids his attack.

It then backs away, now screaming its song, with hate and viciousness .

The euphoria of having survived, the horror as the death and destruction, the guilt of not having been quick enough to prevent anyone from getting hurt, the relief that they'd all somehow survived, and the terror of facing a deadly threat all race around her body as she hugs her cousin.

There's no time to say anything or process what has happened, though. The scream of terror so close chills Joanna to the bone as she looks in Sara's eyes, her own fear and horror clear in her eyes.

"W-we should help," she says, letting go and running to grab her dropped weapons before racing to the source of the scream.

Joanna's going to grab her dagger, sword, and bow. She'll keep the sword our as she runs towards the scream.

Kemras glances around the group of his newfound comrades, and is about to go heal one of the two most injured - Bulvarius or Sara - when the scream stops him. "Of course." He says with a dry, annoyed tone. "Why not?" With that, he sheathes his rapier and turns to the most his most injured compatriot. "You need healing. Have this." He invokes his magic again, touching them and healing their wounds.

I'm not actually sure who the most hurt one of us is at the moment.

Bulvarius is down the most out of all of us. Sara and Jo are both down three, he's down seven.

"Because someone has to do the right thing," Joanna replies to Kemras as if the answer to why not is obvious.

As his wounds are healed, the big cavalier nods his thanks to Kemras;

"My thanks... Mistress Whitehall has the right of it... We help because we can. There is no wrong in doing right."

He hefts his longspear and joins Joanna in heading toward the scream at pace.

He does this enough times to see that all of your injuries have been healed.

You guys suck at reading!! LOL. Everyone is healed. Save your CLW, Kemras.

As you round the corner of the new cathedral, onto the street beyond, you see the source of the screams you heard.

A well dressed man cowers behind a rain barrel, calling for help. In front of the barrel a dog valiantly defends it's master against a goblin mounted on a gobliny dog. With a vicious slash, the goblin rider chops the guard dog's head from it's body! The dog vanquished, a number of other goblins emerge from hiding to cheer!

None of the goblins have noticed your arrival from around the corner.

Surprise Round! Anyone Can go!

In my defense, I had a brain fart and forgot that we got healed up back to full so there. :P

Joanna pales as she sees the poor dog's head fly from its neck. Her stomach twists, threatening to empty itself at the sight. Fear threatens to drag her under and paralyze her, but seeing someone in danger pulls her back from that precipice. She turns to the others, obviously afraid, but in control and willing to put actions to her words.

"I'll go first. Master Bulvarius will follow behind," she tells the others, sounding eeriely calm to her own ears when what she really wants to do is hide behind the hellknight aspirant. Unfortunately, he had a weapon that was unwieldy in close and she didn't. "Sara, will follow with Master Kemras and Miss Audra bringing up the rear."

Without waiting for any protests, Joanna charges forward, fully intent on ending one of the goblins who looked ready to kill the man in wicked glee. She only hopes that she doesn't wind up getting herself killed in the process.

It'll be fine. It'll be fine. Strike fast. Strike hard. We only need to give the man a chance to run.

Joanna's strike is true, but too shallow to end the goblin. Her heart thunders in her chest as the saner or more fearful, it is hard to tell the difference as adrenaline courses through her veins, part of her screams in her mind that she's alone versus four goblins. The part of her that was more focused on the man's safety than her own is in control, however and she spares enough of her attention to call out to him.

"Run! We'll hold them," she tells him, hoping that the others were coming up behind her.

Sara drops to her knees as the last goblin falls, sobbing quietly as she takes in the chaos around them. When Joanna hugs her, she hugs her back tightly, as she lets herself cry on her cousin's shoulder for a brief moment.

"Why, Joanna, why? This... This is all wrong..."

She feeezes when she hears the scream, and slowly nods at Joanna's words. "We... We should." as she follows along and picks up the starknife she threw at the first goblin. She gives a weak smile at Joanna's and Bulvarius replies to Kemras, and starts running behind Joanna.

"Thanks, all of you. For doing the right thing."

----

As they turn the corner and see the brutal way in which the goblin rider killed the dog, Sara stops and grabs at her holy symbol.

"Please, Desna, grant me your strength, and guide my hand. Help me keep everyone safe."

Her eyes go wide as Joanna gives her orders and starts charging the goblin group. "No! Joanna, wait! It's too dangerous! Let me go first, instead! Please..."

Casting Divine Favor. Would have joined Joanna on her charge, but can't reach the goblin from where I started, unfortunately.

Somehow I totally missed that. Oops.

Kemras glances at the woman, considering her plan. "Understood." However, at Sara's objection, he grimaces. I guess she can't be blamed. We're hardly close friends and comrades in battle.

Still, he takes the initiative to move around the nearby stall, readying himself to shoot at the goblins as soon as he can.

Just a move action. I'm assuming he kept his bow out during the run over.

In front of the Cathedral:

Joanna finds that she can't speak for a moment as Sara sobs and questions why it is happening. The young noblewoman doesn't know herself, and as much as she wants to reassure her cousin, she can't find the words.

Unfortunately, before she has a chance to go looking for them, the scream draws their attention to someone in need.

Back in the present
Joanna hears her cousin's protest, but she can't answer it. Someone is in trouble and something within her demanded that she act to help. She sends a brief pray to Shelyn, begging the goddess to not let her add to Sara's grief with her foolhardy rush.

Audra advances to next to Kemras.

Letting her staff lean against her shoulder, she draws her sling.

The group of goblins screech in fear as Joanna and Bulvaris descend upon them. The closes goblin screams in pain as Joanna's blade cuts it's arm, but its scream turns into a death rattle as Bulvarius' pike lifts it bodily into the air, skewered.

Dammit, not quick enough! The goblins had already rushed to engage with Joanna and Bulvarius before he had the chance to nock an arrow to bowstring. Taking a deep breath, Kemras focuses. "Are you any good at firing into a melee fight?" He asks Audra, trying to keep his tone casual.
