Trevor steps forward.
"She speaks truly. And the law itself bears her out", the cleric expounds.
"Templars of Abadar, you know this better than most: law exists to bind the powerful first, or it binds no one at all. A city endures because even its highest servants answer to courts, charters, and contracts greater than themselves. A general who places himself beyond judgment declares himself outside the law he claims to defend."
"Soldiers of Taldor, consider this—when markets fall, when cities burn, when order collapses, it is never the strategist who pays the price. It is those who carried out his commands. Abadar teaches that responsibility follows action, not rank."
"We are not calling for chaos. We are calling for process. Arrest, trial, judgment. The foundations of civilization, not the anarchy of ambition."
"Stand down. Let him be taken alive. If General Pythareus acted in accordance with the law, then Abadar’s justice will clear his name. If he did not, then shielding him makes you partners in his crimes."
"Tonight, you may choose the stability of law over the convenience of power. That choice—more than any battle—decides whether Taldor remains a nation of laws, or becomes merely a nation of orders.”

With Abadar's Blessing? Perhaps we should make an appointment for an audience so we can verify the accuracy of that statement.
”We stand on Abadar’s Pillar and I sit at its pinnacle. What other proof do you need?” says Maxillar.
The soldiers listen to your words and respond. ”I stand by High Strategos’ values and goals of restoring the glory and purity of this once-great nation by removing the Qadirans and non-humans from Taldor and making the teaching of the Vault and Chain the true determination for law and order in our country. But if your claims are true, plotting the assassination of a rival and colluding with evil-outsiders are serious crimes even for the High Strategos. I never thought my support for Maxillar Pythareus could be swayed, but by Abadar’s name, these crimes need to be answered for.”
”Traitors! Cowards!” Maxillar shouts. Maxillar slams down the faceplate on his armor which is fashioned to appear like the visage of a male lion. The magical armor has a supernaturally frightening effect.
You can almost hear the lion's roar in your heads and your bodies are shaken from Maxillar's fearsome stature.
Maxillar Intimidate: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43
The DCs for each of you are: Henrika 25 (I included +4 for remove fear); Icabhod 22; Trevor 25; Tychus 26; Xallis 22; Navia 19; Bartelby 19; Malphene 21; Jack 25
All of you are frightened for one round then each of you are shaken for the following number of rounds afterwards: Henrika 2 rds, Icabhod 3 rds, Trevor 2 rds, Tychus 2 rds, Xallis 3 rds, Navia 3 rds, Bartelby 3 rds, Malphene 3 rds, and Jack 2 rds.
Your diplomacy against the guards was successful. They will not participate in the fight. To clear up the map a little, I am having them flee immediately before initiative and you do not need to worry about them returning.
Henrika: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Going through the spell list, I realized that Henrika had Hermean potential cast, so she didn’t need to use her hero point on the first diplomacy roll. I’ll give it back. But her two rerolls are used up at the start of combat.
I’m also going to assume that your 10 min/level spells were cast before entering Abadar’s Pillar and estimate 20 minutes passed and remove that from the duration. The 1 min/level spells you cast while waiting for Maxillar to arrive in the trophy room and can have the full duration.
If Tychus or Trevor wanted to cast any pre-combat spells, let me know and I’ll add them.
Also, since the Vault and Chain Templars left the room, there is no longer an invisibility purge spell in the room, so Navia goes back to being invisible.
Active Spells/Effects
Henrika: ▲False Life (12 hp, 12 hr), ▲Freedom of Movement (100 min), ▲Glibness (100 min), ▲Heightened Awareness (100 min),▲Heroism (100 min), ▲Message (100 min), ▲See Invisibility (100 min), ▲Remove Fear (12 min)
Icabhod: ▲Barkskin (+4, 100 min), ▲Clay Skin (50 hp, 100 min), ▲Freedom of Movement (100 min), ▲Heroism (100 min), ▲Shield (12 min)
Trevor:
Tychus:
Xallis: ▲Overland Flight (12 hr), ▲Barkskin (+4, 100 min), ▲Heroism (100 min)
Navia: ▲Mage Armor (12 hr), ▲Barkskin (+4, 100 min), ▲Heroism (100 min), ▲Invisibility (2 min)
Bartelby: ▲Barkskin (+4, 100 min)
From Thrain’s room you hear ”High Strategos Pythareus? Is everything alright? I hear shouting!” Thrain does not exit the room this round.
From the guard post (room 24), the royal guards saw the other soldiers fleeing through the room and are shouting ”To arms! Defend the general!”
Icabhod and Tychus are first. But remember you are frightened for the first round.
Also, you probably don’t want to be standing how I just threw all the tokens in the room. Feel free to reorganize them however you want as long as they are on the left side of the room.
Henrika Karthis
Henrika should have heightened awareness cast also, which she can dismiss when it's time for initiative to give her a +4, putting her in the same round as Tychus and Icabhod. She does not currently have a mesmerist trick implanted, so as an immediate action in response to Maxillar using the relic, she can implant and activate Mask Misery, which delays the effects of the frightened condition on her for 1d4 rounds. Since the effect lasts only one round, it won't affect her at all!
Henrika weathers the High Strategos's supernatural fright with aplomb. In response, she casts shadowform on herself (the Will save is DC 18), and attempts to maneuver past their opponent to stand on the opposite side.
Acrobatics, heroism: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 17 + 2 = 23
A question: Since Pythareus used his relic as an action before initiative, does that mean Henrika can use her trick in response before initiative? If she can, then she has a swift action still available and will use it to place her hypnotic stare on Pythareus.
Tychus Marcaius
If Tychus or Trevor wanted to cast any pre-combat spells, let me know and I’ll add them.
Probably only Heightened Awareness, which doesn't help all that much.
Round 1
Panicked by the sudden roar from Maxillar's armour, Tychus follows Icabhod's lead and makes for the nearby doorway.

Round 1
Scared out of their wits, both Trevor and Malphene make for the door.
GM Peachbottom
Round 1
Henrika somehow manages to shake off the frightened condition but isn’t quite agile enough to slip safely past the general.
Maxillar AoO vs. Henrika’s AC 26: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (12) + 25 = 37
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Maxillar Will DC 18, hypnotic stare: 1d20 + 13 - 3 ⇒ (19) + 13 - 3 = 29
Maxillar swiftly swings his axe and hits Henrika squarely. ”Women have no place in politics nor on the battlefield!”
Maxillar hits Henrika with an attack of opportunity for 17 damage
Icabhod tries to flee. Forgetting the door near him is locked, he grabs the handle and pulls frantically to no avail. Tychus also joins in, banging and shouting against the exit. Then they both regain their wits although still somewhat shaken and feel rather silly about their actions.
From within the guard post, you can hear the voice of Kane chanting out the words to spell. Those with spellcraft recognize the words to the spell as a familiar one that Xallis casts: haste.
Kane casts haste on himself and the three royal guards.
I don’t think anyone else has a way of dealing with the frightened condition, so to expedite things, I’ll just have everyone still frightened flee to the far corner. If you do have something you can do, go ahead and post it and I’ll insert it in.
Xallis and Navia keep their eyes on Maxillar but backup in fear until their backs hit the wall.
”You will be the first to die. Show me what you can do!” Maxillar declares a challenge against Henrika and brings down his axe.
Maxillar – Battleaxe vs. Henrika’s AC 26: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42
Damage, challenge: 1d8 + 9 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 14 = 30
Maxillar Will DC 18, hypnotic stare: 1d20 + 13 - 3 ⇒ (10) + 13 - 3 = 20
Maxillar – Battleaxe vs. Henrika’s AC 26: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36
Damage, challenge: 1d8 + 9 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 14 = 27
Maxillar Will DC 18, hypnotic stare: 1d20 + 13 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 13 - 3 = 26
Maxillar – Battleaxe vs. Henrika’s AC 26: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23
As a swift action, Maxillar challenges Henrika which has a number of effects. Maxillar deals an additional 14 damage on attacks against Henrika and he gets a +4 dodge bonus to AC against attacks made by Henrika. Maxillar takes a -2 penalty to AC against attacks made by anyone else and as long as Henrika is in a space threatened by Maxillar, she takes a -2 penalty to AC against attacks made by anyone except Maxillar.
Maxillar hits Henrika twice for a total of 57 damage.
Trevor and Bartelby flee in opposite directions; Trevor moves towards Icabhod and Bartelby hides among the taxidermized beasts.
Malphene and Jack look panicked when they find themselves standing alone in the middle of the room when the three royal guards come charging in. The guards choose to attack the more threatening looking opponent, the heavily armored half-orc.
Royal Guard (Red) – Longsword, haste vs. Jack’s AC 23: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 17 + 1 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
The royal guards are highly trained soldiers and the first one strikes and lands a blow before Jack can muster a defense.
Royal Guard (Red) hits Jack for 12 damage after DR.
The next royal guard moves to flank Jack from the other direction. Stepping around the couch, he provokes an attack from Trevor.
Trevor AoO vs. Royal Guard (Yellow), shaken: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 11 - 2 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The guard accepts the hit from Trevor and makes his attack against Jack.
Royal Guard (Yellow) – Longsword, haste, outflank, power attack vs. Jack’s AC 23: 1d20 + 17 + 1 + 4 - 3 ⇒ (8) + 17 + 1 + 4 - 3 = 27
Damage, power attack, precise strike: 1d8 + 9 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 6 + (6) = 29
The soldiers are trained to work together and the second guard takes advantage of flanking to show off his skills.
Royal Guard (Yellow) takes 3 damage from Trevor’s attack of opportunity. (They are not evil alignment, so the holy property on Trevor's sword doesn't apply.) Then he hits Jack for 26 damage after DR. Then, the guard, shifts his position. The royal guards can use Pack Attack to take a 5-ft. step after an attack. Royal Guard (Yellow) moves from the space below Jack to the space to the left of Jack.
Royal Guard (Blue) – Longsword, haste, outflank, power attack vs. Jack’s AC 23: 1d20 + 17 + 1 + 4 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 17 + 1 + 4 - 3 = 30
Damage, power attack, precise strike: 1d8 + 9 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 6 + (4) = 22
The last Royal Guard (Blue) flanks with Royal Guard (Yellow) and hits Jack again, badly injuring him. Then he also moves in a dance-like fashion, circling his opponent.
Royal Guard (Blue) hits Jack for 19 more damage. Then also uses Pack Attack to 5-ft. step from flanking with Yellow to flanking with Red.
Malphene wants to join Trevor but with the Royal Guards in the way, she is forced to flee to the other side of the room.
Part of the description of Frightened says “If unable to flee, it may fight.” I’m going to rule that with the way the Royal Guards are surrounding Jack and that since he wouldn’t flee towards Maxillar, Jack is unable to flee, so he can fight this round if he wishes to do so.
Round 2
Those near the locked door hear Thrain fumbling with the lock from the other side and you think you hear it click. Thrain remains on the other side of the door this round. He curses under his breath, ”Damn, large fingers.”

Challenging a foe requires much of the cavalier’s concentration. The cavalier takes a –2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge.
The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious or until the combat ends.
Whenever an order of the lion cavalier issues a challenge, he receives a +4 dodge bonus to his AC against attacks made by the target of his challenge.
Demanding Challenge: Whenever a cavalier declares a challenge, his target must pay attention to the threat he poses. As long as the target is within the threatened area of the cavalier, it takes a –2 penalty to its AC from attacks made by anyone other than the cavalier.
Jack, Icabhod, Tychus, and Henrika can go. No one is frightened anymore. You can all act normally.
Henrika Karthis
After having moved closer to Pythareus, Henrika's shimmering body makes her more difficult for him to catch with his axe.
She is blurred, so I'll roll the concealment chance for the first attack. In addition,as an immediate action when he attacks, she will activate her Mesmeric Mirror trick. Three reflections spring up around her.
1st attack: Concealment check, 21-100=hit: 1d100 ⇒ 46
1st attack: Mesmeric Mirror, 1 is Henrika: 1d4 ⇒ 1
2nd attack: Concealment check, 21-100=hit: 1d100 ⇒ 53
2nd attack: Mesmeric Mirror, 1 is Henrika: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Looks like the second attack hits an image instead. Also, it looks like his 3rd attack would destroy an image because it missed by less than 6. Does she still get concealment on that? I'll roll it just in case she does.
3rd attack: Concealment check, 21-100=hit: 1d100 ⇒ 64
Also, I think Mask Misery removes the shaken condition completely. "If an effect that imposes more than one condition triggers this trick, the subject ignores all eligible conditions," and "this trick ends minor conditions entirely instead of suppressing them temporarily".
Falchion Jack
Round 1
Shaking with fear, Jack nonetheless is very familiar with brawls and skirmishes where he is outnumbered, and he resolves to take as many soldiers with him as he can when he goes. First, he activates his Kitsune fighting style. Then, he swings his falchion at two of his opponents-- but rather than aiming to injure them, he instead tries to cut the cords holding their uniform cloaks in place, using the blade to deliver a sharp and shocking punch to each soldier's solar plexus.
Because of his Speedy Tricks class feature, Jack can substitute a dirty trick maneuver for an attack.
Dirty trick maneuver (entangled/sickened) vs red soldier, dirty trick bonus, dueling bonus, shaken: 1d20 + 15 + 8 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 8 + 11 - 2 = 38
Dirty trick maneuver (entangled/sickened) vs yellow soldier, dirty trick bonus, dueling bonus, shaken: 1d20 + 10 + 8 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 8 + 11 - 2 = 36
He ends by slamming his helmet into the forehead of the last soldier surrounding him, attempting to both startle and injure him.
Dirty trick maneuver (shaken/sickened) vs blue soldier, dirty trick bonus, shaken: 1d20 + 10 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 8 - 2 = 34
If these maneuvers succeed, the penalties last for 1d4 rounds plus 1 for each 5 he exceeds the CMD. Both conditions can be removed if the soldier spends a standard action.
Red soldier dirty trick base duration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Yellow soldier dirty trick base duration: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Blue soldier dirty trick base duration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
He steps between the blue and yellow soldiers, trying to keep them between Pythareus and himself.
Henrika Karthis
Round 2
Henrika surveys the battlefield, realizing that she is the only one of their group able to face Pythareus, and grits her teeth. "I am not surprised you would think so little of women, since that seems to be the only lesson you took from Tae Amon's murder. I invoke her memory! The time has come to put her spirit to rest!"
She swings her sword twice with both hands, seeking out any break in her opponent's defenses.
Full attack #1 vs Pythareus (Koriana's blade), heroism, Power Attack: 1d20 + 21 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (8) + 21 + 2 - 3 = 28
Damage (+4 slashing), Power Attack: 1d8 + 14 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 9 = 25
Intimidate to demoralize (Cornugon Smash), heroism: 1d20 + 27 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 27 + 2 = 30
Full attack #2 vs Pythareus (Koriana's blade), heroism, Power Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (10) + 16 + 2 - 3 = 25
Damage (+4 slashing), Power Attack: 1d8 + 14 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 9 = 30
Intimidate to demoralize (Cornugon Smash), heroism: 1d20 + 27 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 27 + 2 = 46
She takes a five-foot step to keep her shimmering mirage active. I cannot defeat him alone, she thinks, but perhaps I can keep him occupied and enraged until my allies can rejoin the fray. She also notes that Pythareus seems particularly nimble in response to her attacks. Perhaps feinting him would not be useless after all, she admits ruefully to herself.
GM Peachbottom
Round 1
Looks like the second attack hits an image instead. Also, it looks like his 3rd attack would destroy an image because it missed by less than 6. Does she still get concealment on that? I'll roll it just in case she does.
Maxillar’s destroys two images. I’ll give Henrika the 27 hp back. As for the concealment, I’m ruling that concealment does not protect images from being destroyed and does not need to be rolled. The description just says if the attack misses by 5 or less. So whether it misses from the attack roll or from the concealment roll, it is still a near miss and the image would get destroyed.
The guards grab at their chests and cough in pain while getting tangled in their cloaks dropping around their legs.
Jack succeeds against all three Royal Guards. Red is entangled/sickened for 6 rounds. Yellow is entangled/sickened for 5 rounds. Blue is shaken/sickened for 5 rounds.
Round 2
Maxillar blocks both of Henrika’s attacks with the shaft of his axe. ”My father did what was best for me. And look at me now. I am a great man!”
Both of Henrika’s attacks miss. Henrika is right: she’ll have trouble defeating him alone. While challenging Henrika, Maxillar’s AC is higher against Henrika’s attacks, but it is lower against everyone elses. You can take advantage of that.

Tychus shoots Maxillar while his attention is on Henrika and pierces three bolts straight into his back in rapid succession.
Tychus hits Maxillar three times for a total of 116 damage. Maxillar does not have DR.

Xallis goes.
Henrika Karthis
When Henrika sees that her first strike has hit Pythareus but hasn't dealt enough damage to knock him out, she invests her considerable willpower in her follow-up attack, desperate to finish him off.
Reroll (hero point) bonus attack vs Pythareus (Koriana's blade), haste, heroism, nonlethal: 1d20 + 16 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 16 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 27
Boo, I think that probably still misses. :/
As an immediate action while rolling her saving throw vs thunderbolt, Henrika implants and activates her Astounding Avoidance trick. This gives her improved evasion vs that spell, so she takes no electricity damage. Her shimmering body is also active vs Pythareus for the next round.
Xallis Livara
Round 3
The addition of reinforcements does not bode well for Xallis and his allies. He decides to fly over to Navia and infuse her with a surge of mutations, causing her body to expand and mutate. The work is sloppy and asymmetrical, resulting in a gangly form with massive, multi-jointed limbs.
Navia plants her talons and reaches out, her limbs poised to deflect blows and eviscerate foes.
Navia's claw vs Red (shaken, heroism): 1d20 + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 28 damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Navia's claw vs Red (shaken, heroism): 1d20 + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 23 damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Navia's claw vs Red (shaken, heroism): 1d20 + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 33 damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Navia's claw vs Red (shaken, heroism): 1d20 + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 25 damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Navia's claw vs Red (shaken, heroism, haste): 1d20 + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 16 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 32 damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
claw's grab vs Red (heroism, shaken, grab, improved grapple): 1d20 + 19 + 2 - 2 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 19 + 2 - 2 + 4 + 2 = 37
Casting evolution surge on Navia to make her large and then attacking. Reminder that Greater Shield Ally gives everyone in her (10 foot) reach a +2 shield bonus to AC and +2 circumstance bonus to saving throws.

Round 3
The royal guard screams as the giant eidolon grabs him and rends him with her claws. When the screaming stops, Navia unceremoniously tosses the guard’s corpse to the ground.
Navia hits Royal Guard (Red) 5 times for a total of 60 damage and kills him. She grabs him too but it doesn’t matter much after he is dead.
Bartelby AoO, arcane pool, haste vs. Maxillar: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
”This isn’t over! I will regroup and hunt you down!” Maxillar turns and runs out of the room leaving a trail of blood.
Maxillar takes the withdraw action to avoid an attack of opportunity from Henrika but moves through two of Bartelby’s threatened spaces so he still provokes on the second space. The AoO misses though.

20% spell failure (deafness, low is bad): 1d100 ⇒ 4
And just like that, his dimension door fizzles.

Thankfully, Trevor is close by to the fading half-orc.
"Come on, Jack! Stay with a little longer.." the cleric murmurs as he leans down to cast cure critical wounds on Jack.

The last remaining royal guard finds himself standing next to Icabhod and makes him his opponent. Icabhod’s defenses are formidable but the guard manages one lucky hit. And even that hit is blunted by the layer of magical clay protecting Icabhod.

Round 3
Jack blinks away unconsciousness and picks himself back up, hoping that Navia's interference will protect him from the soldier's attacks while he stands. "Many thanks to you and the drunken god, my friend," he calls out to Trevor.
I don't think I can avoid the attack of opportunity, but at least Navia is giving Jack a minor AC boost!
Jack angrily slices at the guard with his falchion.

Round 3
Malphene slams her shoulder into the mage and pushes him back into the next room. Kane pounds ineffectively on Malphene’s back. ”Unhand me, wench!”
Malphene’s bull rush against Kane succeeds and she pushes him 10 ft. I moved Malphene with Kane, but if she doesn’t want to, she can stop at the door.
I’d give Trevor a hero point for getting Kane out of the doorway but he’s full. Still, good job!
Royal Guard (Yellow) AoO, haste, entangled, sickened vs. Jack’s AC 26: 1d20 + 17 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 17 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 26
Damage, sickened: 1d8 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 - 2 = 14
The guard stabs Jack but is unable to stop him from getting up and attacking him back. The guard looks pale and jabs his sword into the ground to lean on it like a cane. It looks like it is the only thing keeping the guard from falling over.
Royal Guard (Yellow) hits Jack with his AoO for 11 damage after DR. Jack hits the Royal Guard for 25 damage.

Thrain sees Maxillar fleeing and flies into a rage. ”I’m going to kill you all!” Thrain impales Icabhod with his sword and spiked shield then pulls both apart, rending Icabhod open. Icabhod falls to the ground. Then he continues attacking, swinging at Trevor. Navia grabs Trevor by the collar and yanks him out of reach.
Thrain hits Icabhod three times for a total of 46 damage after DR. Icabhod is dying at -5 hp. Thrain’s distracting attack also gives Icabhod a -2 penalty on attack rolls for 1 round, but since he is next and unconscious, it won’t matter. Train misses Trevor.

Henrika Karthis
Round 4
Henrika breathes a sigh of relief when she sees Jack stand and salutes Trevor before she tears off after Pythareus. Fortunately her speed is hasted, making her faster than her quarry, and she moves to block his escape. She tries to tumble past the lieutenant's counter-attack as she goes further into the chamber.
Acrobatics, heroism: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 17 + 2 = 21
Once she is placed between the High Strategos and the stairs, she draws herself up to her full height (or rather, Baron Astor's full height). "Lieutenant Kane, the High Strategos has admitted his terrible crimes committed in vainglorious pursuit of the throne. We are capturing him to stand trial in Oppara. Your loyalty does you credit, but you would be well-advised to stand down. Elsewise we will treat you as his accomplice, and history will remember you with his misdeeds."
Then she turns and swings her sword at Pythareus, desperately trying to bring him down.
Attack vs Pythareus (Koriana's blade), haste, heroism: 1d20 + 21 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 21 + 1 + 2 = 25
Damage (+4 slashing): 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Painful stare: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) + 9 = 17
Well, obviously she must use her final hero point for this.
Reroll (hero point) attack vs Pythareus (Koriana's blade), haste, heroism: 1d20 + 21 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 21 + 1 + 2 = 26
Uh, maybe she can use a point of inspiration she got from the Lion Blades? It's a melee attack.
Inspiration on melee attack: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Henrika blinks at the man's incredible fortune and fortitude, and steels herself for his counterassault, relying on her shimmering body and shadowform spell to give her some small bit of protection. (She will probably also have to implant and activate a Mesmeric Mirror.)
Tychus Marcaius
Round 4
Entrusting the Trophy Room fight to the remainder of his allies, Tychus skirts the room, avoiding the outstretched limbs of the various taxidermied animals. With nothing but a single shot remaining in his crossbow, Tychus stops by the doorway and takes aim at Maxillar.
But with his lungs screaming for air, and his hands unsteady, he instead decides calls upon Abadar once again for aid.
Casting Divine Favour and Studying Maxillar.
Once she is placed between the High Strategos and the stairs, she draws herself up to her full height (or rather, Baron Astor's full height). "Just surrender, lad. We needn't shed more blood on Abadar's holy grounds..."

Round 3
Icabhod Con DC 10: 1d20 + 2 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 5 = 1
Icabhod doesn’t stabilize and loses 1 hp.
She tries to tumble past the lieutenant's counter-attack as she goes further into the chamber.
Kane doesn’t provoke. He isn’t holding a melee weapon. (He has a bow, but he has primarily been casting spells.) But Maxillar does.
Maxillar AoO vs. Henrika’s AC 26: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (13) + 25 = 38
Damage, challenge: 1d8 + 9 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 14 = 30
Mesmeric Mirror: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Maxillar viciously swings his axe and Henrika quickly reacts with another illusion to save her hide. She strikes back but the general defends.
Henrika’s Acrobatics isnt’ enough to avoid provoking from Maxillar. Maxillar would hit and Henrika activates a mesmeric mirror in which an image gets destroyed. Henrika misses Maxillar.
He sees Henrika standing before the stairs. ”So this is to be my last stand then. So be it.”
Kane replies to Henrika, ”While the High Strategos breathes, I will defend him.”
”When said, my boy. Your loyalty will be rewarded.” says Maxillar.
Kane steps away from Malphene then creates another arc of electricity between Malphene and Henrika.
Lightning Arc Electricity Damage: 11d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 1, 4, 1, 5, 6, 1, 6, 2) = 41
Kane Will save vs. Shadowform DC 18: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Henrika Reflex save, heroism, haste: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 32 Pass
Malphene Reflex save, haste, shaken: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 - 2 = 9 Fail
Malphene fails the Reflex save and takes 41 electricity damage. Henrika passes and takes half damage (20 electricity damage). Kane passes his Will save against Henrika’s shadowform]/i] so the spell takes the full effect.

Henrika was still at 88hp because she didn't take any damage from the thunderbolt spell thanks to Astounding Avoidance. Taking 20hp damage from the lightning arc puts her at 68hp. Since she didn't have to activate her Mesmeric Mirror yet, I could activate Astounding Avoidance again, but I think she is wary of Pythareus's counterattack so she will save her immediate action in case she needs it then.
Xallis Livara
Round 4
Watching Icabhod fall causes Xallis to reconsider his tactics. "Navia! Kill!" he says with a gesture.
The eidolon happily complies, taking a short (for her size) step and laying into another soldier.
Navia's claw (power attack, heroism): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 31 damage: 1d6 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 6 = 17
Navia's claw (power attack, heroism): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 25 damage: 1d6 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 6 = 18
Navia's claw (power attack, heroism): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 23 damage: 1d6 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 6 = 18
Navia's claw (power attack, heroism): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 22 damage: 1d6 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 6 = 17
Navia's claw (power attack, heroism, haste): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 24 damage: 1d6 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 6 = 22
Navia's grab (heroism, haste): 1d20 + 19 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 19 + 1 + 2 = 23
As the eidolon goes into melee, Xallis flies down to place a hand on Bartelby's shoulder before they both warp to the next room. "Go get him!"
Navia tajes a 5 foot step and full attacks. Xallis grabs Bartelby and casts dimension door.

Round 4
It only takes a single swipe for Navia to tear out the throat of the last royal guard.
Navia hits Royal Guard for 17 damage and kills him.
"I'll take you all down with me!"
Maxillar – Battleaxe vs. Henrika’s AC 26: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (16) + 25 = 41

Maxillar steps and uses the Lunge feat to increase his reach by 5 ft. (and decrease his AC by 2). He hits Henrika for 25 damage, Bartelby for 17 damage, and Malphene for 14 damage.

Trevor, Bartelby, Malphene, and Jack go.
Henrika Karthis
Can I roll Maxillar's concealment miss chance for shimmering body? Just in case... ;)
Concealment (21+ hits): 1d100 ⇒ 38
Trevor Kastner
Round 4
"Icahbod! Not you too!" Trevor cries as he knees down to cast another cure critical wounds.
CCW: 4d6 + 12 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 3) + 12 = 25
Dame Malphane Trant
Round 4
Spitting out blood, Malphene groans, "I..have faith..in my husband..!" The lore warden takes a 5-ft. step forward near the spellcaster and attacks.
Scion's Longsword, shaken, hasted: 1d20 + 21 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 21 - 2 + 1 = 34
Dmg.: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Falchion Jack
Jack will drag Icabhod's prone body out of the giant soldier's reach and move sideways to make room for Icabhod to stand up. (He also gets back into his Kitsune Style stance.)
I just realized that Trevor didn't move out of the way, so is still vulnerable to the soldier's attacks. Can Jack pull Trevor with Icabhod?
GM Peachbottom
Round 4
Trevor heals Icabhod for 25 hp.
Botting Bartelby. I’m really bad with the Magus class.
Bartelby Cast Defensively DC 21: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Spellstrike, arcane pool, haste, nonlethal vs. Maxillar: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 31
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 2 = 9 Cold Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 4) = 19
Intimidate: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
Bartelby casts rime frigid touch and frost encases his rapier. He slides his rapier into Maxillar’s unarmored armpit and the frost transfers from his blade to the general. Ice forms in the joints of Maxillar’s armor, restricting his movement. Despite it all, Maxillar remains defiant.
Bartelby hits Maxillar with his rapier and a rime frigid touch spell using his Spellstrike special ability. He deals 9 non-lethal damage and 19 cold damage. The rime metamagic makes Maxillar entangled for 2 rounds. And when Bartelby does non-lethal damage, he gets a free intimidate check from his Enforcer feat. But the Intimidate check failed.
Malphene continues her assault on Kane and the lieutenant is unable to defend himself from the muscular woman.
Malphene hits Kane three times for a total of 45 damage.
I just realized that Trevor didn't move out of the way, so is still vulnerable to the soldier's attacks. Can Jack pull Trevor with Icabhod?
Sure, or we can say Trevor took a 5 ft. step. He probably didn’t realize he was within the enemy’s reach. Either way, he can move.
Round 5
Now that everyone has moved back, Thrain can finally squeeze himself out of the narrow doorway which provokes from Navia.
Navia AoO, heroism, haste vs. Thrain: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 16 + 2 + 1 = 35

Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Navia claws the soldier and draws his attention. Thrain swings his shield at Navia but misses badly.
Navia hits Thrain with an AoO for 12 damage. Thrain misses Navia. AC 38? How is he supposed to hit that?
