"Excuse me, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, oh god. Let me clean that up. Oops that's not what I meant to do. I'll just be going now."

A twitchy and nervous looking dromada from the accounting department of the Starfinder Society timidly approaches the two other Starfinders.

The door to First Seeker Ehu Hadif’s office opens to reveal a comfortable wood-paneled room. Silver-framed photos line one wall, opposite a window overlooking the Lorespire Complex grounds. Behind the sturdy wooden desk, the comfortable faux leather chair swivels to reveal the First Seeker, a kasatha clad in red armor and a matching facemask. He raises a hand in greeting, then gestures to the plush chairs in his sitting area.

“Thank you for coming, Starfinders,” he begins, waiting for everyone to be seated. “As I’m sure you’re aware, the announcement of my impending retirement means that the Starfinder Society is once again amid election season. Four years ago, I was honored to accept the title of First Seeker thanks to the votes of Starfinder agents such as yourselves, and in just a few weeks we’ll be asking agents to cast their votes again.”

“While there are few official regulations around candidate selection, the members of the Society tend to coalesce around respected individuals, and that’s exactly what has happened. Four candidates have garnered the support of their peers, and soon we’ll be calling all agents to cast their votes. I’m asking all our agents to meet with these four candidates, learn about their proposed mandate or area of inquiry, and complete any tasks they might have prepared for prospective supporters. Just as with our faction leaders, the sort of tasks an agent deems worthy tell a lot about who they are and what they stand for.” Ehu leans back in his chair, a twinkle in his eyes. “What do you say, Starfinders? Care to spend some time looking for my worthy replacement?”

With that, he forwards an infosphere page that lists the candidates (See handouts)

Aurora Everbright: “Aurora Everbright is an ambitious and bold Starfinder. She’s a pilot and professional racer, and is quite media savvy. Aurora believes that the Starfinder Society’s achievements and heroics have gone uncelebrated—a situation she intends to remedy. Aurora has pledged to double funding for the longrunning Starfinder Chronicles and to collaborate with a variety of entertainment and media partners to produce a selection of new vidcasts, documentaries, vidgames, and other media for public consumption, all centered on the heroic exploits and groundbreaking discoveries of the Starfinder Society. You’ll meet Aurora at Jatembe Park.”

Dr. Heldin Sevaile: “Dr. Heldin Sevaile is an intelligent and altruistic Starfinder. He’s a scientist with degrees in botany and biochemistry, and a doctorate in genetics. Dr. Sevaile plans to lead a scientific expedition to catalog the flora and fauna of the galaxy in order to create a library of genetic sequences. It’s his hope that scientists and scholars the galaxy over will mine this dataset for potential new medicines and treatments. He’s promised to make any new pharmaceuticals discovered by the Starfinder Society available to the public on a non-profit basis. You’ll meet Dr. Sevaile in the laboratories.”

Nykiti Lampadephoros: “Nykiti is an insightful and mysterious Starfinder. She’s a powerful spellcaster and diviner. Her prophecies and visions can seem frivolous or nonsensical, but I’ve always found them useful in the end. Nykiti aims to investigate magical occurrences and anomalies, including Kazmurg’s Absurdity, and research the magical objects left uncatalogued in the Society’s vaults and storage spaces. You’ll meet Nykiti in the Communion Vaults.”

Sarmak: “Sarmak is a curious and passionate Starfinder. He’s a hunter, engineer, and electrician. He has an intense interest in ancient civilizations that built megastructures or displayed advanced technological capabilities. Sarmak is in the process of organizing an expedition to a city of the First Ones on Aballon. Exploring forgotten sites built by his people, izalguuns, is also a primary interest. You’ll meet Sarmak in the Archives’ Cortex.”

I have two votes for number one, so I'll start with that one

Can you all fill out the RPG Chronicles and the slides? Otherwise RZMR may come after you

Although the group is told to meet Aurora in Jatembe Park, she catches the group right outside the Lorespire Complex...

A bright pink hovercar stops suddenly at the curb. A blonde halfling pops her head out of the sunroof, her bright white racing suit reflecting the simulated sunlight. She waves energetically, calling out “Hello, Starfinders! You’re the ones Ehu just met with, yeah? I’m Aurora! Hop in, I’ll give you a lift!”

It's a tiny car, but the null-space technology gives everybody plenty of room (not that Volitare needs much). Hold on tight! the halfling says as she planks the gas on the sportscar, pushing everyone to the back of their seats.

“The Starfinder Society is at the forefront of galactic exploration. We’re the movers, the shakers, the innovators, the heroes! But all our exploits get ignored—unless something goes wrong. Why? Because we let other people tell our stories. We’ve got the Starfinder Chronicles, sure, but for everything else? We leave it up to other people. It’s time that changed. We need to seize the narrative and tell our own stories. Shine the spotlight where we want it. Let the galaxy see how important we are—how integral!”

Aurora activates the autopilot as she swivels in her seat to face the group. “This week in Jatembe Park there’s a big talent showcase. A bunch of bigwigs from all kinds of talent agencies, media networks, vidstreams, and other broadcasts are attending. I’ve booked us a slot on the main stage for later today, and one of my pals is a director. He has a script we can use that’s all about the Starfinder Society, so it’s perfect! If we can get these influential folks interested in us, we can build partnerships. We can make vidstreams, movies, documentaries, vidgames—you name it! We’ll have the interest and capital we need to tell our stories the way we want.”

Aurora spins her chair around and re-engages the manual drive. “Being a Starfinder is about excitement, competition, discovery, and—let’s face it—a little danger. We get into tight scrapes and intense situations cause we’re doing big, important things! We never settle for less! I want us to be at the forefront of galactic exploration and to stay there, but to do that we need credits, and we need the public on our side. Zo! Media, the Opulos Corporation, Jenoate— they’re the tastemakers in the galaxy these days. Getting their attention is the first step to something huge! The first step to joining them. What do you say Starfinders, you ready for primetime?”

With one hands, she reverse-parks the vehicle behind a partially built stage and hops out. This is Jebodah Hamisfore she continues without missing a beat, introducing the group to a male feychild gnome, he's our director, and this is Rishir Heatru she says, while a male pahtra holds out a clawed hand our stagehand. Got any questions?

I need each of you to select one of six roles: Leader, Technician, Priest, Warrior, or Acrobat
If qstor joins on time, you can also select 'the Foe', otherwise Rishir will take up that role

Darakwinn is not particularly bulky so she's comfortable in the small car and isn't nearly as worried about death and dismemberment as Trober.

She doesn't seem very convinced by Aurora's argument, though, as evidenced by the way she sits with her arms crossed over her chest.

Splendid, Aurora says as the adventurers pick roles I think we have a good cast here, [b]I'll give you some time to prepare your lines, and to prepare for the play.

The script is in the handouts

You can all make a skill check to help set up the play. You can choose any skill as long as you can describe how that skill would help set up a stage or make the play more interesting. E.g. Athletics to prepare the stage and scenery, Computers or Engineering to set up lights and special effects, Diplomacy or Bluff to greet people as they arrive, Disguise to improve the costumes, or Perception to block scenes in the most appealing way.

Taking the last roll for Vomatian
Engineering: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Trober tries to be terrifying, but surprises nobody. Vomatian is quite convincing as the Technician, showing his true engineering skill.

As Seldszar says the line that begins, “Alright team, we’ve got one more job,” the group spots movement in the back of the crowd. Two young lashuntas are making their way through the crowd, snatching valuables from the distracted audience’s pockets and bags...

"BUT WAIT!" Seldszar proclaims as he draws his pistol and Arachne begins warming up the menacing plasma weapon "there is a final epilogue, a final act to this play, TWO OF OUR ENTERTAINERS, have been practicing sleight of hand through the audience - they are about to return your goods, JUST TAKEN AS PART OF THE SHOW - we wouldn't like to see them meet the same fate as the Jinsul menace..." Seldszar announces at them, with a smile, but a degree of menace.

"Those dirty..." Darakwinn begins but then remembers where she is.

"I mean, yes. They should remember that this is only a demonstration and what will happen if that demonstration goes wrong," she says, getting off the enercycle and taking a firm grip on her pike.

Seldszar and Darakwinn move to stop the thieves' nefarious plan, but of course we're looking for a subtle approach without alarming the audience.

At this point, it is paramount to convince the crowd that moving from the stage into the audience is part of the show.

I need one member to make a Bluff or Diplomacy check to convince the audience, or somebody to make a Cmputers check to convince camera drones to follow them and continue broadcasting their “performance”. Anyone not rolling the main check can aid another by rolling any of the other checks (so if the lead rolls Diplomacy, you can still aid with Computers, for example)

Excuse me please .. Passing through. Scanning for jinsul.

Volitare leaves the audience in a gasp of excitement... Jinsuls? Even scarier than the one on stage?

This gives the starfinders an opportunity to close in on the thieves

Another check, to close in without the thieves expecting: Bluff, Sleight of Hand, or Stealth check, same rules as before
