A tall, if somewhat well built, white robbed figure enters the room. The cowl of his robes are up He holds a very fine looking staff in one hand. The hand looks pale but his eyes seem to shine in the darkess of the cowl.

He speaks in a heavily Ustalavian accent. Greetingsm my name is Niccolo of House Neska from Ustalav. I am happy to make your acquittance. His voice is smooth.

Your adventure begins in the Vaults of the Grand Lodge in Absalom.

Grand Archivist Zarta Dralneen asked Rain in Cloudy Day to assemble a group of Pathfinders in a vault filled with newly acquired treasures.

"Hi all! I'm Rain In Cloudy Day. I'm a new Pathfinder agent here in the Grand Lodge. I'm a special assistant to Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin."

Rain in Cloudy Day has a bright green body and a purple mushroom “cap” atop his head, and he wears a white scarf and brown vest emblazoned with the Glyph of the Open Road. Grand Archivist Zarta Dralneen has long dark hair and black nail polish and is wearing a vibrant blue dress. Both greet the group of Pathfinders in a vault filled with newly acquired treasures, which Rain calls the “Vault of Boundless Wonder!”—a phrase he exclaims while excitedly waving his hands.

Aztryx arrives late and looks like he ran quite a bit to get here. His black hair, tied in a braid behind him matches his plain robes in color. He is wet from sweat. He holds in his hand what looks more like a Shepherd's Crook than a staff.

"I'm sorry I'm late. I am proof that there's no truth to Wizards arriving on time." He smiles in jest as he enters the room.

He suddenly stops and looks in awe at Rain in Cloudy Day. "You are marvelous!"

As both enter the room, Erlam makes a small nod towards towards the grand archivist as he greets her and before saying much more his attention is suddenly drawn to the person next to her.

Erlam looks with curiosity at the overly enthusiastic leshy. Curiosity quickly gives way to confusion on the elf's eyes as he wonders how such an overly exited leshy could be a special assistant to captain Valsin, known for his little patience.

A young Gnome comes running down the hallway, rather relieved to see that the rest of you are only just entering the room. "Ah, good. I'm not too late."

After catching his breath he looks around. "Whoa, there sure is a lot of really cool stuff in here. Oh, my name is Macondi." He gives a smile and wave at everyone. Then something on one of the tables catches his attention and he just stares at it for a while.

If your current character has played 99-01 (Second Confirmation):

Rain's face lights up as he recognizes you. He gushes about how much fun their adventure together was, thanks them for helping him pass his Confirmation, and proclaims that the ruins they uncovered drew the attention of all sorts of important faction leaders for a special new training mission.

If your current character has played 99-02 (United in Purpose):

Rain recognizes you as one of the Pathfinders who undertook the training mission in the ruins. He begs for a firsthand account of your adventure.

Zarta Dralneen watches the conversation with amusement, but clears her throat to remind Rain of his current mission.

"The Archives get more exciting every day," Rain states then adds, "And who better to manage the excitement than Zarta! Oh, have you all met Grand Archivist Zarta Dralneen?" Rain prompts you to introduce yourselves. Zarta smiles and thanks you for coming. Rain and Zarta then lead the group to a table covered in interesting objects.

Rain in Cloudy Day waves exuberantly to indicate the piles of treasure in the vaulted chamber. "Just look at all these magic items! And enchanted weapons! And a skull that always looks at me funny! Big magic books about even bigger magic books! Well, I'm not sure about that last one. I haven't read them. Cataloging all this treasure is bound to be exciting! It sure beats sorting the mail."

Zarta leads the group through the vaults. She runs her fingertips along the table, lifts a strange hourglass, and inspects it with dubious curiosity. "Exciting, yes, and possibly quite dangerous."

Rain frowns. "Well, yes, but… at least we're in the safety of the Lodge? Can't be that bad! You said these items are harmless." He picks up a skull from the table. Its eyes glow with pink fire, and it speaks, "Unhand me, you hideous rotten mushroom! Harmless?! How dare you!" Rain replaces the skull and covers it with a cloth, muffling the voice.
"Well… mostly harmless?"

Zarta fails to stifle a grin. She tilts the hourglass this way and that, shrugs, and sets it back on the table. "Yes, mostly harmless. We believe these items present no major threat to us, and we've secured those we believe to be cursed. The true danger comes from an old enemy of the Pathfinder Society, the night hag Aslynn. She nearly claimed these treasures for herself before they were entrusted to us. We don't know why she needs the items, or which ones are most central to her wicked plans. I'm off to a meeting to discuss the situation with Eliza, Ambrus, and the faction leaders. You'll stay here with Rain and continue cataloging these objects. We need to learn where the items come from and understand what they do. Then we can decide what to do with them. Any questions?"

"Umm... apologies for the interruption Grand Archivist. But do you have a Haohji and a Macondi Missani here? It appears they didn't sign their waiver forms before coming down here. Sorry for the inconvenience but Venture Captain Ambrus is quite strict that all Pathfinders sign a waiver as it keeps our expenses down. I have the documents with me so they just need to sign HERE."

Macondi looks blankly at the visitor for a moment, then realization and shock cross his face. "Oh, drat. I forgot that. Sorry, sorry. Yes, let's get that taken care of right now before I forget again." He follows the Gnome into the hallway to finish his paperwork.

When he returns, he reviews what he had heard from the meeting before. "OK, so someone named Aslynn is mostly harmless and needs to be unhanded. Or was it Zarta that is harmless?"

Macondi lifts one corner of the cloth and mumbles, "Oh, I don't know Harm. Only heal."

About a second later, He drops the cloth and turns towards the Wizard. "Wait, hold on. You said that it works backwards for you? OK. I'll keep that in mind. But that means that you are on your own for keeping yourself alive... -ish." He gives Niccolo a shrug and a smile. "Sorry."

Rain steps up and hands you each a card. "I've taken the liberty of writing down what needs to be done. Let's get started, shall we?"

Surprise! It's skill check time. I know you are all shocked and amazed that there is a whole section specifically on skill checks and/or socialization. The listed skills are the obvious ones for each location, but creative solutions may be rewarded!

To-Do List for My Amazing Pathfinder Friends!:

1. Talking skull - Please talk to the skull. It doesn't seem to like me. Maybe one of you will have better luck?
(Skill Check: Arcana, Diplomacy, Occultism, or Religion)

2. Pile of treasure - We probably shouldn't leave everything in a pile like that, but we've been short-staffed. See what's in there!
(Skill Check: Arcana, Crafting, or Perception)

3. Assorted items - There's all kinds of stuff up in the raised storage areas on the west wall and in the northeast corner. Did we find any magic potions in the vault? Alchemical items? Talismans? You bet we did! I know a healing potion when I see one, but some of this stuff is beyond my experience. See what you can find!
(Skill Check: Arcana, Crafting, or Perception)

4. Pile of empty chests - I already looked through these. If you find more empty chests, just pile them in the southwest corner of the vault.

5. Danger! - These shelves are way up high and piled high with dangerous poisons and possibly cursed items. I think Zarta felt it would be safer if they were out of reach, but we should make sure there's nothing too dangerous up there.
(Skill Check: Acrobatics, Athletics, Medicine, Thievery, or Underworld Lore)

6. Weapons - There are lots of magic weapons lying around. See if you can find the most powerful ones. Our field agents sure could use them!
(Skill Check: Arcana, Crafting, Gladiatorial Lore, or Warfare Lore)

7. Scrolls and such - We sure did find lots of scrolls! Thought I saw some wands in there, too. Might be something useful for the Society's spellcasters in there.

Macondi listens to the requests - at least the first one. "Oh, I can actually talk to the skull. So cool."

He goes over to the skull on the table and pulls off the cloth covering it. "Hi. Aren't you the cute one."

Macondi notices the fires in the eyes burn even brighter and the skull looks like it is somehow scowling. "No, no. Cute isn't the right word. Not with eyes glowing like that. Terrifying, would be a better description. You definitely look like a skull that one should not mess around with."

"So anyway, how are you doing here? Comfortable? Anything you might wish for?"

Niccolo attempts to start a conversation with the skull. To his surprise, it answers!! The skull says, "Call me Zykyryz! No, it isn't my name, but it's shorter than 'all powerful wizard.' That's right, I can do magic! Just wait. Keep me close, and I'll prove it to you."

Haohji heads over to the precarious shelves and climbs to the top. He roots around but doesn't find anything useful.

Aztryx heads for the scrolls and has a look. He finds what appears to be a sliver of wood. Upon closer inspection, he realizes that it's actually a Wand of Heal.

Looking at the pile of treasure (2), Erlam decides to help and look through it hoping to find at least something interesing.

Niccolo engages the skull in conversation. "Oh keep me with you. You won't regret it!" it replies.

Nic, Macondi and Erlam head over to the pile of treasure in the middle of the room. Nic spots a beautiful brooch amidst a pile of coins and picks it up. He shows it to Rain and Rain confirms that it's in fact a Brooch of Shielding. Excited at Nic's find, Macondi and Erlam redouble their efforts. Unfortunately, they only find commonplace baubles.

Rain looks on and sighs contentedly. He heads towards the Vault entrance, calling to you that he's off to get some refreshments. You pretty much ignore him and go on working.

You suddenly hear a scream coming from Rain by the Vault entrance

"They're not real! They can't be real!" The panicked voice of Rain in Cloudy Day precedes his rapid footsteps as he races back into the vault. "I can't… I don't… help! Please, help! They're after me!" Rain collapses just inside the vault, clutching the sides of his head and whimpering in fear. A hideous snarl from just past the entryway causes Rain to go completely still.

Just to remind the GM, I no longer have a buckler (since the last one was destroyed) but now has the shield cantrip, effectively having the same thing.
