Brujah Punk Bassist

Everyone but Echo:
Alex takes a moment to lip-sync to the Blondie, then resumes looking in rooms with his completely normal senses.

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

Everyone but Echo:
Rook looks around, hoping to glimpse anything supernatural or hidden to normal sight.
Resolve + Auspex: 3d10 ⇒ (2, 7, 6) = 15
Hunger: 2d10 ⇒ (9, 1) = 10

JSR Anders Phone Call:
JSR wrote:
"That was everything, unless you want to discuss you giving up your foolishness and returning to me," Anders says.

"You so know how to charm a woman back into your arms." She responds drily.

Quieter, she adds, "I miss you. Stay safe anta."

My understanding is that: anta is short for anata - anata is an affectionate you used primarily by women referring to their partners/spouses, whereas anta is used with a partner when you are exasperated with them. Presumably Anders is used to her calling him anata, and would know the difference.

Echo:
Echo prowls the halls and swiftly finds the other afflicted person, this time a small woman. She is surrounded just like Hector. As she arrives, the song ends and she shakes her head. "Shan?" asks a concerned co-worker. "What was that?"

"I don't know," she says, falling into a brittle laugh.

"Maybe you should take the rest of the night off."

One of them notices Echo. "Ma'am, it's past visiting hours. If you could make your way out."

Everybody but Echo:
The Blondie song ends first with the one who started it, then with the following round. Fortunately, Alex has more than enough time to check the ICU and finds nothing out of the ordinary. Rook can confirm, her second sight giving her only the sensation that death is close.

Rook:
"Until then," he says.

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

everyone but Echo:
Rook's voice is quiet so that it doesn't carry. "I sense death, but do not see anyone hidden, yet. Val, does your insight point to any specific person?"

She quickly looks up to see if there is a dropped ceiling they could climb into if needed, and then starts her investigation.

Are there computers they could access? Physical charts at the foot of beds? My primary hospital's ER has a dry erase board on the wall, with lists of patients & their room number, and those patient's conditions that's updated, for example.

Everybody but Echo:
Dry erase boards seem pretty common. Yes, they're there, and it's the same kind of ceiling as the other place had.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Everyone named Echo:
Echo looks around, shaking her head slightly at the leave. "ICU?"

Brujah Punk Bassist

Everybody but Echo:

Alex watches Rook for a moment, then asks, "Should I go to confront the distraction while you work here?"

Echo:
"You can visit who you want in the ICU tomorrow," says a nurse tenderly, putting a hand on Echo's elbow.

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

everyone but Echo:
Before Rook answers Alex, she looks at the dry erase board quickly, to see if it lists any cancer patients.

Everybody but Echo:
There is one, and a quick check reveals she is fine, relatively speaking.

Brujah Punk Bassist

Everybody but Echo:
Alex waits another half-verse for Rook's answer, then nods sharply to her and hares off to check out the source of the Blondie.

There are still some potentially outstanding conversations, but I do want to advance things a touch. This will not penalize you in any way.

Alex, dressed in his scrubs, with an ID hanging from his neck that looks just fine as long as no one inspects it too closely, passes a mildly confused-looking Echo in the hallway as he's hunting around.

Brujah Punk Bassist

That's great! I'm good enough at penalizing myself.

Alex pauses to give Echo a quick check-in.

"The ICU is clear. Rook and Val are investigating from there. I'm going to check out the music. What did you find?"

Gangrel Cult Leader

Echo, who is shaking her head at the very nice woman, snaps her attention to Alex as he passes. With a gleam, she grabs Alex's arm and looks around finally pointing out one or the people nearby. "Shan."

Then she points down one of the halls, "Hector."

She nods, "Puppet."

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex frowns briefly, but nods.

"That was my guess, but then where--?"

Gangrel Cult Leader

"Moving." Echo says, snarl in her voice.

A pause, head cocking to the side, "Door."

"Here."

A whine in her voice, as she looks the direction Alex came from. "Escape?"

Brujah Punk Bassist

"I didn't see anyone ... but I wouldn't, would I?"

Alex pauses for a moment and his brow furrows.

"If you can track, I'll go with you."

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

everyone but Echo:
Rook turns to Alex after she's examined the Board. "Alright. Val and I will see if the cancer patient can tell us anything."

What is the name of the patient with Cancer? Which bed / room are they in? Rook will see if they have anemia on their chart, and ask Val to talk to the patient.

Rook turns to Val. "Would you see if you can wake up name here and see if they'll talk to you - find out if they've been bitten already."

is there a roll I should do for investiation? - see if anything was left behind in the room. Flower delivery from an admirer, drop of blood on the pillowcase, etc.

Everyone but Echo:
Rook can roll Intelligence + Medicine in an attempt to decipher a chart. And sure, she can attempt a Resolve + Investigation roll. The patient's name is Claire Moffatt and she's unconscious.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Echo's grin is all white teeth, "Hunt." As she stalks off leading Alex to an emergency exit.

That may or may not still have an alarm going.

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

everyone but Echo:

Int+Medicine: 1d10 ⇒ 7
hunger: 2d10 ⇒ (3, 8) = 11

Resolve+Investigation: 4d10 ⇒ (1, 5, 7, 5) = 18
hunger: 2d10 ⇒ (7, 10) = 17

The soft buzzing at the emergency exit has in fact ceased by the time Echo and Alex arrive.

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex follows Echo, hoping to spot something before she does ... but not really expecting to.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Unless redirected, Echo heads out through the emergency exit, a happy grumble calling Cailleach from where the wolf lurks outside the door. Echo starts to cast around looking for signs of someone who left recently - so much harder in the paved world than the proper dirt one.

Cailleach:
"See, smell, any?"

Alex and Echo:
The emergency exit starts its buzzing as Alex and Echo make their way out into the night.

Echo:
"Smell all!" the wolf happily responds.

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex and Echo:

Alex looks around outside. He looks up. He looks off in the distance. "What can I do to help here?" he asks Echo.

Rook:
She does not see any anemia on the chart, but she can't be certain. She's never really read a medical chart before. She checks the flowers, and the card appears to be from someone else named Moffatt. Rook doesn't find anything else of note.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Alex+Echo:
Echo goes down next to Cailleach, rubbing against the wolf. A nod, growls.

At Alex's question, Echo nods. "Look."

"Follow."

All teeth, "Catch."

"Talk?"

Echo casts around moving around the hospital, looking for someone. Or signs of someone walking away from the building.

Cailleach:
"Find?"

Alex and Echo:
The wolf whines, backing away from the hospital, sneezing a few times.

Echo:
"Find? Everywhere!"

From what Echo can parse Thanks to a diceless Resolve + Animal Ken -- she is not penalized here, because she is attempting to understand an animal Cailleach is trying to communicate that whatever scents here are absolutely overpowering. Hospital stink is powerful and it's everywhere in this general area. Finding the scent at another location might be easier.

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex and Echo:
Alex follows Echo, keeping a few feet back, alert to any sign of ambush that his (unnatural but not at all augmented) senses can detect.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Alex and Echo:
Echo bumps Cailleach softly on the shoulder with a soft growl. Then she moves away from the hospital proper, casting about on the pathways that one would use to move to and from the hospital on foot, like that conveniently placed graveyard.

"Path?" Is the only explanation she offers Alex.

Resolve+Investigation: 3d10 ⇒ (1, 4, 10) = 15
Hunger: 1d10 ⇒ 6

Cailleach:
"Too busy." Echo agrees.

Echo:
2 successes isn't gonna do it.

Alex and Echo:
The two of you make a wide circuit around the hospital, including sections of the cemetery next door. The hospital is well-lit and relatively welcoming, lit like an office park. The cemetery, however, is filled with great pools of shadow, looming trees, and even a few mausoleums.

Echo can't find a trail, though the hair on the back of her neck stands at attention. Something is watching, though whenever she turns to find the source of the sensation, she sees nothing but wind brushing through the trees.

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

Val and Rook and JSR:

what kind of flowers are there? Any indication what florist they're from? Is there a logo on the back of the card?

"Moffatt?" Wonder if that's relevant." She says to Val after checking the card that came with the flowers at the cancer patient's bedside.

She sends a quick text to everyone.

Group Text:
Rook sends a text message to everyone "Know anyone named Moffatt?"

Val & Rook:
The card is labeled Sherwood Florist and includes an address nearby. In the bouquet there are: orange spray roses, red alstroemeria, mini-sunflowers, sweet william, lavender asters, green button poms, white daisies, and purple statice. There's also a little stuffed bee that's holding a sign saying BEE WELL.

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex and Echo:
After watching the lack of success for a while, Alex takes out his phone, and looks through the phone camera, just in case something stands out in that perspective. He gives the area a thorough looking over.

Alex:
Alex notices he's got a text.

From Susan:
Hey Klaus got picked up for vagrancy. Can you get down there and make sure the pigs don't throw out his tent?

Gangrel Cult Leader

Alex and Echo:
Echo isn't patient in her failure to find anything, but she is certainly dogged. After about the tenth time of turning suddenly, as if to catch something from the corner of her eye she growls. "Spoiled."

She shakes her head, a whine as she tries to think. Another failure.

"Knows."

If at any point her phone makes noise, she ignores it, except to stuff the noisy annoyance into a more padded pockets to stifle the disruption.

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex and Echo:

As Alex is watching his phone, he says, "Ugh," and starts tapping on the screen.

"Do you think they're still around?" he asks Echo, not too loudly. "People problems back in Santa Cruz."

JSR:
Alex responds:

I'm out at Dominican Hospital up in Live Oak. Klaus tent at the usual spot?

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

Val & Rook & JSR:
Rook looks up in the room with the cancer patient, to see if there's any convenient spot to maybe stick a little camera, in case she can come back tomorrow night. If there's a conveniently placed chair, she climbs on it, carefully lifts up a ceiling tile if she can reach it, and takes a fast look to see what's up there. If it looks like she could move around up there, she puts a quarter on the ceiling tile, so she can find it if she crawls around up there tomorrow, and replaces the tile carefully.

Then she looks to see if there's any drops of blood, or anything else that might be in the hallway that someone could have dropped on their way out. Lastly, if there's time, she goes to see if other people have flowers from the same florist (and if they do, what their cards say). If at any point she hears people coming, she will let Val know that they should leave.

If Val leaves, Rook will check in with her before she goes, to see if she heard something or has any ideas.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Alex and Echo:
Echo, even as she listens to Alex, has her attention on an elsewhere. "Ghost."

The whine is beneath the hearing of the living, only a thrum on the sense. "Fubar." She motions to the phone, "Fix?"

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex and Echo:
"Maybe I can fix them if you don't need me here," Alex says, looking up at Echo, then back at his phone. "I hate to stand idle here when I could be doing something useful there."

He looks back up at Echo and also over at Cailleach.

"But if you're going to get jumped the minute I turn my back, that's no good."

Alex tucks his phone away and cracks his knuckles.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Alex and Echo:
Echo turns to observe Alex, the weight of her regard steady. "Fix."

She waves at the dark around, points to herself. Holds up her two pointer fingers and brings them together, "Talk."

She shrugs, a small smile playing on her lips.

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex and Echo:

Alex cocks his head to one side for a moment, doing a decent Cailleach impression, even if inadvertent.

"Musician got rumbled by the cops. Someone needs to grab his stuff before it gets trampled or stolen."

"Didgeridoos are more fragile than you expect."

Alex pulls his phone out and pokes at it again.

Alex:
Same spot. Ducking cops wont leave him alone

ducking

DUCKING

duck it

Hospital? you ok?

Rook:
Rook does not have a good idea of how much space a camera would take or what it would need. That said, there are corners?

There is a chair. Convenient enough. Nothing of note is in the false ceiling, though the intense ugliness of it makes it difficult to concentrate on anything inside.

The nurses start making their rounds soon after. Rook does see a few arrangements, but doesn't get close enough to determine where they're from before being asked to leave.

Brujah Punk Bassist

JSR:
Yeah I'm fine but if they rough Klaus up again I swear there's gonna be some pulled pork one night.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Alex and Echo:
Echo nods, no little growl in her voice, "Go."

She nods again, "Fix."

She puts a paw on her chest, "Watch." She motions to the sick place building.

She motions to the grounds around, with a shrug and whine, "Sera."

Brujah Punk Bassist

Alex and Echo:
"Thanks," Alex says. "If I can borrow your keys, I won't need to break into your car to grab my bike."

Toreador Appraiser, Researcher, & Militant

Rook checks her phone for a reply as she leaves the hospital. She goes toward where they parked the cars, unless she sees any of the group before then, at which point she'll aproach them.

Gangrel Cult Leader

Echo pats her pockets, pulling out one, two, three rings of keys, offering them to Alex.
