Ashun |
Bitty's Farewell
"You too, tell your grandparents about how courageous you got and take care of Egg. It is not easy caring for a dinossaur, right Bea?", he says a bit sarcastic, but gently, as Bea goes up to Bitty and licks her hand. Ashun chuckles softly to himself before also returning the hug.
In the desert ㅤ you can't remember your name, cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
Even if he wears light clothing, Ashun grew up in the mountains, so the heat isn't his favourite, but he doesn't complain. It's much better to focus on the good things.
As the other two introduces themselves, the pale blue changeling answers in kind, "It is indeed a pleasure meeting you both, the name is Ashun. And this is Bea." he bows after presenting himself and using the same motion points towards the blue iguana carrying a cauldron on its back. He then turns to the orc, curious, "Fascinating, it is not frequently that I travel with merchants. Do you have any specialties or are you a trader? Could be beneficial for both of us to exchange information. I may not be a merchant, but I am a crafter and a wanderer." smiling gently he offers a handshake to Loompecker, if accepted, he nods in agreement. Then looking towards the rabbit getting on Dar's shoulders, he gives a small side grin "Indeed small, but I am very impressed by your weapon of choice. I am pretty sure I know of a gnome who would love to meet you." and he bows once more to the two, getting back up fixing his slightly sweated hair.
Loompecker |
The orc smiles largely to Ashun and shakes his hand. You're welcome. I'm more of a trader as I don't craft anything by myself. So I look for trade route around Golarion to see where I can buy and sell things.
Corabee Cori |
I'm not currently traveling with merchandises. Sorry.
"Next time then."
"I'm Bun Helthing. I gueth I will be traveling with you."
"Hi Bun. Yeah, you look like you are just the right size for you."
GM Hmm |
Eventually, the Caravan stops in the bustling oasis town of Eto. "We'll be stopping for a few days to make trades, change camels and rest," Namrik, the wizened lead caravan driver, tells you. "Meet us back here at dawn two days from now, or be left behind."
So... with time on your hands, you head over to the Bent Coin tavern, which maintains a bulletin board where caravan merchants often advertise to hire guards, drivers, and other employees. A gnome merchant with shocking blue hair, glances appraisingly at the board before dragging one of the bar stools across the floor to pin up a notice. The Bent Coin's other patrons gather round to view the posted scroll.
When you investigate, you see an intricate drawing of a puzzle box covered in odd gears and mechanisms, plus a request written in Common, Osiriani, and Kelish.

Reward: Stolen Puzzle Box!
This antique puzzle box was stolen by a bandit raid on my caravan yesterday. It is a keepsake from my grandmother, and of immense sentimental value to me. I am looking for a few brave souls to confront the bandits and retrieve the puzzle box along with any other clockworks of mine you find with the Wizelboom mark. Adventurers bold, please inquire within!
–Tidbit Wizelboom, of Wizelboom's Clockwork Creation
★ --- ★ --- ★ --- ★
As you watch, the blue-haired gnome takes a seat at a booth near the front and settles down at a table with a drink and an expectant expression on her face.
Corabee Cori |
Bee goes over and finally manages to read the notice. "Another grandparent losing their belongings?" He shakes his head. "At least this time they are honest about fighting bandits being part of the deal."
Bun Helsing |
"We mutht get it back!" Bun says indignantly.
Cath Gerbaine |
Cath, silent from looking at the poppet, shakes her head and speaks up, "Let us talk to the merchant and ask for details fist before we go into the wilds."
Corabee Cori |
"I have said before," Bee says again, "no one should have their collection stolen. Especially not an elderly grandma Gnome."
Hearing consensus from the rest of the group, Bee approaches the blue haired Gnome that posted the notice. "Are you Tidbit then? My name is Corabee, but call me Bee. It looks like my friends and I have a bit of time to kill here. Tell us more about this band of bandits and your puzzle box."
GM Hmm |
You find the blue-haired gnome inside the tavern tucking into a meal. "Ah, you look like a fine group! Are you here about the bounty?" She squints, puts her glasses on, and then her eyes widen as she looks at Dar Lek and Bun Helsing. "Oh, my. Such beautiful craftsmanship went into the two of you! Are you... independent creations? Although Wizelboom's Clockwork Creations are famous, I've yet to have any of my own constructs gain consciousness. You are both lovely, simply lovely."
Her eyes look wistful for a moment, and then regathers her thoughts. "Please, sit down, all of you. Introduce yourselves! And feel free to order a beer or some pita sandwiches on me. I'm Tidbit Wizelboom, and my family has been making bespoke clockworks for generations. The Sand Scorpion bandits attacked my caravan on the road west of Eto. Their target was my main wagon with all of its showcase clockworks." Then she gives a sly grin. “My, were they surprised when the cart sprouted scimitars and defended itself!" Then she sighs. "Unable to get at my most valuable wares, the bandits robbed my residential wagon instead. That's when they grabbed my grandmother's puzzle box, likely thinking it was a jewelry box. But I'm afraid that they won't have the patience to solve the puzzle box, and they'll smash it instead."
GM Hmm |
"It looks like my friends and I have a bit of time to kill here. Tell us more about this band of bandits and your puzzle box."
Tidbit pats Bee's hand. "Nice to meet you, Bee. The puzzlebox is a one-foot cube of gears, levers and dials. It's quite the intricate antique, and my grandmother made it for my own tenth birthday, years and years ago. The real treasure is not its contents, but the box itself, which can be reset into dozens of different puzzling configurations, and relocks when you reset it."
Then Tidbit takes out a parchment with an elegantly sketched hand-drawn map. "As for those bandits, I've been doing a bit of research of my own on them. My sources around the local bars and pawnshops tell me that this," she taps her finger on an oasis near the Pillars' Rise mountains, "is the most likely location of the Sand Scorpion's Bandit Camp."
She peers at you once more. "Do you have any other questions for me?"
Loompecker |
And I guess this puzzle box is priceless... The orc asks for a beer as he learnt to make profit of what is offered. And you want we collect the puzzle of the puzzle box, right? Anything else you would like to see back to you?
Corabee Cori |
“My, were they surprised when the cart sprouted scimitars and defended itself!"
"Pfffft." Bee can't help but chortle at the mental image of that. "Nice. That will certainly teach them."
"But I'm afraid that they won't have the patience to solve the puzzle box, and they'll smash it instead."
"So do you need the box? Or just its contents? If they have smashed the box, we will need to know what we are looking for. Well.. we will need the description of the box too I suppose - in case they haven't smashed it yet."
Edit: ninja'd.
GM Hmm |
And I guess this puzzle box is priceless... The orc asks for a beer as he learnt to make profit of what is offered. And you want we collect the puzzle of the puzzle box, right? Anything else you would like to see back to you?
"If by priceless, you mean that it would be never for sale, you would be correct. The puzzlebox's prime value it to me, as a memento of my Grandmother. Her letters to me were stored inside.
"There was quite a bit missing from my residential wagon. If you find any other clockworks with the Wizelboom mark and return it to me, I will be most grateful. I'm willing to pay you four gold a piece, plus purchase dinner for all of you when you come back. What do you say?"
Corabee Cori |
She peers at you once more. "Do you have any other questions for me?"
Bee bounces excitedly on his toes. "Can we ride your scimitar wielding wagon to get there?"
GM Hmm |
"Ha! I like you, Corabee!" Tidbit sighs, and says, "I can't let my other wagon go though... It has most of the goods I need to sell. But I will let you ride it when you get back!"
Corabee Cori |
"But I will let you ride it when you get back!"
"Good enough for me." He glances at the others. "How about the rest of you?"
Ashun |
Ashun nods in acknowledgement, "It is a pleasure meeting you, Tidbit. I am Ashun, and this here is Bea."" he points towards the cauldron-carrying-iguana by his side.
"And yes, it is indeed enough for me. Even though it may be fun riding a scimitar wielding wagon, I actually quite like puzzles." smiling gently, he nods once more, agreeing with Bee.
GM Hmm |
Tidbit pays for your drinks and breakfast, and hands you the elegantly scribed map. The map is excellent, and about two hours later, you find yourselves at Pillar's Rise, a small but lush oasis guarded by an ancient sandstone statue of a sphinx.
There's not a bandit in sight, but three bat-like creatures rise out of the shade, shrieking at you in the languages of earth and air.

Why is it so hot?
Hearing the screeches of the creatures in the shadows, Cath raises her shield and walks forward. Steeling herself with her step, the woman walks to guard Ashun while grabbing her dagger from her belt, "Perhaps I can help with these when they get closer!"

Cath moves in front of Ashun, draws a dagger and raises her shield. Ashun moves with her and casts Guidance on Cath. Loompecker recognizes these creatures as Dust Mephits, elementals of Earth and Air who have no weakness for him to exploit. So he employs his personal antithesis on Blue and moves to the side.
Unable to employ their favorite hit and run tactics this turn, the three mephits all fly out, hovering ten feet up, in different directions.

It tends to get everywhere, and it is indeed irritating.", he then points towards Corabee and draws in the air a glyph of warding that appears as a tattoo in the hands of the dust-bat and in Bee's swords' guards.
