Howirk Crookfeather

Howirk does his best to get some more positive energy to flow from the wand as needed, starting with Leon. He then moves onto the injured half-orc.

If it is okay with the GM, I am fine having others bot Howirk's UMD rolls and hit point healing in the future when out of combat in an effort to keep the game moving.
| DM Carbide |
I'm good with that. Are you going to heal the human you found?
Howirk Crookfeather
|
Are you going to heal the human you found?
Yes, Howirk will heal the human once the others are at satisfactory strength--unless he gets some indication that the human is likely to expire first. Feel free to bot any additional rolls.
Leon the Brute
|
Leon soaks up all that healing and has Howirk tap the guy on the table next.

He pulls the clamps off the stomach incision as the wounds heal. If the victim wakes up, ”Hey dere bud, howya doin? We here ta hep.”
Korgaar the Keen
|
If I may interject, I'd much rather that Eveleth and Korgaar are healed to a functional degree before we wake up the potential enemy on the slab ;) - I see Eveleth's had some heals but I don't know how many of Howirk's CLW rolls are on Leon and how many Eveleth.

"Blast."
Howirk's mojo runs out well before Korgaar's wounds are healed. The dwarf looks about sheepishly, holding his now practically-useless wand. "Er.. "
Korgaar does have a couple of potions, but would certainly appreciate a couple more CLW charges if someone has them to spare.

Eveleth got 9 so far, but I don’t know how far she was down. Leon took all that healing rolled by Howirk off his wand to get to full. There is an extra potion available for either of you, btw. I was assuming the patient on the table is secured down, but could be wrong. Either way Leon will wait for other healing to be done, as requested, before directing any to the victim. He will also happily share his wand if anyone’s has junked out.
| DM Carbide |
The victim on the slab is indeed secured in place.
Korgaar the Keen

Cheers, Leon :)
"Don't mind if I do" Korgaar nods to the big human in appreciation, and waves the other's wand at Howirk.

"Much better. How're the Eveleths doing?"
3 charges used, thanks again Leon.
"Hmm?" Eveleth dazedly sits up. "I'm not sure, I don't see them around anywhere."
She grabs a potion off her belt and chugs it. "This drink is far better than whatever that woman was serving."
Crossing my own CLW potion off.

We got some items too, fyi. Alchemical grease that Leon would love to take one of and use. And a magical cloak that needs ID’d. But the big man is waiting to see if his wand hit gets the table dude conscious, if not we still have the other potion from the enemy.
| DM Carbide |
The minor healing on the man isn't enough to get him conscious yet, although it does start to close the incision.

Leon pours the enemy’s last potion down the victim’s throat.

Wand UMD: 1d20 ⇒ 11
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
One more use of the wand wakes him up.
The vivisected human stares around blearily, not really focusing on his surroundings, until he realizes that the party is there. ”...colors…you’re not them...oh, gods be praised, you’re not them!” He introduces himself as Zelius Jagrah, taken as a slave in Cheliax before being sold to the Blakros family. He was left in the Museum three months ago and underwent a ritual that night that left the mark on his forehead and bound him to the Shadow Plane. Since that time, he’s been mainly performing manual labor for the Onyx Alliance, until he was selected to be the subject of some tests. The dead woman didn’t explain to him what she was planning to do, but he overheard her talking with another fetchling about “infusing him with ‘liquid night.’” (He appears normal, incidentally.) He begs you to free him.
A search of the room turns up a fine copy of a book called The Umbral Leaves, which Korgaar recognizes as the unholy text of the cult of Zon-Kuthon.
Leon the Brute
|
Leon nods, ”I wanna free dis guy. Yous all ok wit dat?”
Chains? Ropes? Shackles? Locks?
| DM Carbide |
The leather restraints on the man are easily removed. He stands and stretches, wincing as the scar tissue around the mostly-healed incision pulls. "Thank you for your kindness. How do I get out of here?"
Leon the Brute
|
”Dassa prollem. De doah outta heah is closed. We needa key. Goin ta look fer one tru da las doah. Less ya wanna try hackin ya way out. Dere an axe in da next room.”
He begins smearing the oily substance on his armor and exposed skin.
Eveleth
|
"Liquid night? And here, I had always assumed night was a gas."
Eveleth looks around. "We should keep moving. We're proving less perishable than the room suggests we should be."
Leon the Brute
|
Leon shrugs as the guy ignores him. He heads back out through the slick room and down the hall. After checking the door he waits for his group before pulling it open.

The man comes out of a shivering fit and nods, going after the axe. He's still pretty groggy.
Leon hears low chanting from the other side of the door. A bright sign high above it reads, "Biological Oddities," while a dark reflection of the sign warns that the room beyond is a "Ritual Chamber." Opening the door reveals a large room taking up the rest of the building.
Harsh, cold light floods the room from the ceiling, gleaming off the marble walls and shining across the polished granite floor. Myriad pedestals display stuffed creatures suffering from unspeakable deformities, and liquid-filled glass tanks hold the shriveled bodies of even stranger anomalies. In the room’s center, a wide ebony pyramid stands about ten feet tall; darkness seems to flow out from its top into the air like ink in clear water. Indistinct rune circles, candelabras, and idols cover what can only be the site of barbaric sanguinary rites, occupying the same space in the Shadow Plane.
Standing before the pyramid is a thin gray humanoid of the sort the party has already encountered before. He's coating a slender-bladed knife in a strange black liquid. Two young women kneel in front of him, swaying back and forth in a trance. The women bear a familial resemblance to Hamaria Blakros.

Eveleth seems lost in thought for a moment, confused by her own misapplied logic. Then she brightens, as she pulls her shadow close to her. Bluish light seeps from her hands and eyes as the blades on the collar of her cloak become apparent. She reaches out for the pyramid.
