Success!

Nigel Aldain grabs a handkerchief and dabs his forehead at what Zabu says. "Oh yes, certainly. I'm cooperating with you right now, aren't I? That should make them happy, right?"
Success!

Nigel nods distractedly at Manny's comment, but doesn't really acknowledges what he says.
Sadly, not high enough for a discovery.

Nigel looks at Aerin like he grew a second head. "Ahem, like I said, this is only a copy, not the real thing. Though I suppose even an artful copy of an artifact can impart some of its magical powers..."
He looks like he wants to burn this thing immediately.
Success! Barely not a crit due to CP scaling.

Nigel nods in agreement with Atae's comments and looks appropriately pensive, but is clearly not really listening to what she has to say.
Religion is a good skill to use, but you didn't roll high enough.

Nigel Aldain leads you to the next part of the tour. He stops at an empty display case. "This spot is reserved for a copy of what I'd like to call the Foals of Szuriel. I've learned my lesson and decided to not show the original here, so my wife is currently busy with crafting a copy. The original is securely locked inside the vault, because anything associated with the Horseman of War is bound to be dangerous. I can show you the original later on if you want, it's an intricately carved statue of two fiendish steeds that was originally crafted as an offering to Szuriel, the Horseman of War. It is very well made, but the mind boggles at its implications. I've been having trouble identifying its magical powers, but with such a subject, its purpose can't be good."

Manny stares at the display case with an ounce of contemplation. War, never ending. His family has fought the undead for hundreds of years, guided on by a list of divine guardians. Shylye's been active the longest and chose to guide Manny.

"A tribute to War? Struggle allows us to achieve despite adversity. But too much conflict is painful. And if you can't choose to struggle, you just suffer instead." He keeps his eyes on the glass, almost reaching out to touch it before stopping himself.

Nigel loves two things: his wife Dhrami, and the Museum (you're not sure which comes first, though). Disrespecting Dhrami or claiming historical ignorance will upset him.

On the way to his office, Nigel Aldain stops at a large frog-shaped idol. "This is called the Golden Grippli. We're not sure, but this might represent a famous fiend keeper. The peaceful grippli are known to honour those individuals who can keep evil entities at bay."

If you make a DC 18 Perception check:
The plaque explaining the history of the Golden Grippli says something else entirely. It suggests a connection between the ancient gripplis and the demon lord Gogunta.

You finally arrive in Nigel's office. Nigel stops at a drawing board detailing possible layouts of the Blakros Museum. He leans in conspiratorially and says with pride, "Also in our vaults is an artifact known as the shadow obelisk. It allows us to change the physical dimensions of the Museum's interior. I'm honestly not sure where it came from, but I can assure you, I've had it thoroughly examined and used it for years without incident."

"See, here's my ledger of what's happened with, and sadly to, the Museum since I took charge. Take your time to examine it and I'll be nearby if you have any questions."

Nigel stands at the drawing board and studies his drawing board, no doubt dreaming up new exhibits.

Looking through the ledger, it seems like everything is in order. No files are missing or out of place, but the level of hazard pay provided to employees far exceeds the expected standard. Some employees who escaped with only relatively minor injuries or trauma received as much as a year's worth of sick leave, while only being absent for a few months.

If you make a DC20 Society or DC 22 Perception check:
The details explaining those payments seem to be a more recent addition. It's easy to see when Nigel switched inks; those explanations are only a few weeks old.

"Uh huh..." Manny fights off his sleepiness for just a bit longer as they look at the ledgers and the frog. Shylye's probably chastising him for not appreciating fine art.

Anyway, back to the fun part: influence!

Zabu's doing a good job playing bad cop -illegitimate children? I guess Nigel has enough power to get away with it- so Manny will try to play good cop.

Step 1: Figure out a resistance, but this time through a societal approach. "Your work as a curator must bring some controversy, eh? Plenty of people think I just pluck some strings, but they don't understand the music... What bristles you the most from the ignorant?"
Society: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Nigel's response indicates he loves his wife and his museum.Disrespecting Dhrami or claiming historical ignorance will upset him. Maybe Zabu's implication about outside children was a bad call.

Nigel rolls his eyes. "Ehem, yes... The Golden Grippli was given to us by famous explorer and enormous windbag Gerhard Pendergrast. He is as much a scholar as I am a successful Pathfinder. Sadly, the donor of an exhibition piece gets to decide what goes on the plaque, but that doesn't stop me from giving... an alternate view of history, shall we say. Without speaking too much ill of Gerhard, let’s just say that he represents one of many unfortunate associations that the Blakros family has picked up over the years."

Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed wrote:

"Sir, how dare you question my faithfulness to my lovely wife? Though this Museum might have its proverbial skeletons in the closet, I can assure you, I have none. Sometimes my duties prevent me from filing complete accounts at the time, but I always make sure I file a complete report afterwards."

He refuses to acknowledge Zabu afterwards. Though his outburst at possible unfaithfulness seems genuine, you get the feeling Nigel's weirdly defensive about the accounting.

Aerin Airendil wrote:

After having composed himself, Nigel answers smoothly, "Like I told your uncouth friend here, there's obviously a lot of paperwork involved when exhibitions go awry and staff gets injured. Accounting is the least of my worries at the time, and can sadly get lost in the shuffle. I do make a note of it and return to it later on, of course."

"Yes, everyone can see the end result, but not the effort that goes into producing it. People think this is just a cabinet of curiosities or a freakshow, but I'm trying to educate people about our history and our place in the wider world. Our present is shaped by our past, and if we don't learn from it, we could make the same mistakes all over again. That's what I'm trying to do here, mister Holysmith."

Other than the oddly inflated sick pay, you don't find anything out of order. After you're done, Nigel leads you down to the vaults to show you how they store the museum pieces.

A thick wooden door opens to a sizeable vault filled with chests, bookshelves, wooden crates, and several unusual pieces. Four square pillars spaced throughout the chamber rise to a vaulted ceiling. On the ground, several items look too large to have ft through the room’s single doorway. These large displays include an ogre trapped in a block of ice, statues of fearsome-looking horses, and a giant-sized bronze shield, among other various relics and curios.

Nigel closes the vault behind you and continues. “Each of the pieces here will hopefully find a home on display in the museum above,” the curator explains. He gestures toward the items around the chamber in turn.

“We discussed Foals of Szuriel during our tour. The Frozen Ogre of Kalsgard would be simply a curiosity were it not for the fact that this creature’s corpse remains preserved in an unmelting block of ice. The Tapestries of the Forgotten Pharaoh may hold the secret to a lost Osirian dynasty if we can fully decipher the hieroglyphics. The Amethyst Column of Tannaris has a heretofore unknown connection to one of the ancient Runelords of Envy, and the Eloquent Page of Ytarn is a volume penned by his favorite poet. It seems unlikely that the Danava Shield was truly wielded by those most ancient titans, but we suspect that it might have some connection to a cult of giants who worshiped the creatures. And the Castrovelian Orb possibly originated on the green planet itself.”

Nigel pauses and allows himself a rueful smile. “I apologize for giving a history lesson at every turn. Investigate as you wish; you will find detailed records of each of these pieces and other minor curios here, all consistent with reports I sent to the Blakros family."

Nigel retreats to the back of the room to let you do your work.

Take a look at the map and place yourselves where you'd like to be. It's quite full, I know, but the pictures should speak for themselves.

"Thank you, Nigel." Manny hopes he's a bit more relaxed now. Everything seems in order, and the Pathfinder reputation remains mostly intact. There are some bookkeeping issues, but Manny isn't the type to argue the nitty gritty details. He'll make a few notes about it later.

The Danava Shield is incredibly huge. You'd have to be gigantic to pick it up. He wonders if a legendary hero carried it into battle against some great evil. Or if the shield was part of a dastard's protection, as the forces of good overwhelmed them and took their stuff.

Times like this make Manny wish he paid more attention in history class. Too many beautiful classmates enjoyed his music, and he was always happy to oblige.

As you walk around the room, Nigel remarks, "Heh, I've read a story about how the Foals of Szuriel are able to interact with surrounding life forces. In fact, I think this is the first time this many people are this close to it..."

Nigel is about to prattle on, but then the statues start to tremble. Then they start to shake violently, and cracks appear across their bodies. Suddenly the statues shatter, and three smoke-breathing horses stand in their remains. The horses whinny and seem ready to attack.

Battle Prayer
Feat 7
Divine General Skill
Source Gods & Magic pg. 104 2.0
Prerequisites master in Religion; you follow a deity
Calling out to your deity, you recite scripture to harm a foe. When you select this feat, choose chaos, evil, good, or law. Your choice must match one of your deity’s alignment components. This action has the trait corresponding to the chosen alignment.

Attempt a Religion check against the Will DC of a foe within 30 feet. The foe is then temporarily immune to Battle Prayers from your deity for 1 day.

Critical Success You deal 2d6 damage of the chosen alignment type, or 6d6 damage if you have legendary proficiency in Religion.
Success You deal 1d6 damage of the chosen alignment type, or 3d6 damage if you have legendary proficiency in Religion.
Failure There is no effect.
Critical Failure The backlash of your foe’s will against your prayer prevents you from using Battle Prayer again for 10 minutes.

This will be chaos effect
2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 if critical success
1d6 ⇒ 6 success

Manny chokes on the thick smoke as he casts Haste on himself.
You fought these things before. What do you want to know about them?

Atae recites a prayer of chaos against the Nightmares. Sadly, it has no effect. You make the DC, but they're Neutral Evil. Also, Heroism is a Touch spell, you're not touching anyone right now. You can do something else if you want.

Zabu's face contorts as his inner rage takes over. His first attack misses, but his claw tears a nice chunk out of Red.

Flat checks for Othello: 2d20 ⇒ (6, 16) = 22
Othello shields Zabu from harm. The Nightmare feels no remorse, divine punishment weakening it in return. He then manages to hit Green twice, greatly injuring it.

Then Blue jumps into action. It starts to breathe smoke, then rushes past the very old (and very flammable!) tapestry and ends up next to Aerin, then tries to chomp on him.

Will save Green: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Crit fail!

Atae shows Green visions of the things it fears most, and Green whinnies in agony.

Aerin manages to evade the worst of the fire, but in doing so inhales a lot of smoke. He defends himself with magic and readies to strike.

Nigel curses and splutters in anger and surprise. "They're targeting the artifacts! Who knows what happens when the energy that's stored inside them gets loose!"

He starts casting a spell, and suddenly Manny slowly rises into the air.
Nigel cast Fly on you with Reach Spell. The ceiling's slightly pyramid-shaped, with 15 foot high ceilings at the edges and 25 foot high above the pillars around the ogre, so you can fly over the Nightmare if you want.

Green, heavily damaged, trots off with fiery hooves again, smashing into the frozen ogre. The ice shatters and before the ogre has time to animate it gets trampled to bits. It stops next to Zabu and Othello, its hooves damaging them for 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3) = 13 fire damage (basic DC 21 Reflex save to avoid), then bites at Zabu.

Jaws minus Frightened 3 and Enfeebled 1: 1d20 + 16 - 3 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 16 - 3 - 1 = 27
Piercing damage minus Enfeebled and Glimpse of Redemption: 2d10 + 6 - 1 - 9 ⇒ (8, 2) + 6 - 1 - 9 = 6
Othello gives it a second chance to repent, but it doesn't. Zabu feels less hurt than before and Green winces as divine punishment weakens it.

The Red Nightmare takes off, running back to trample the Column to fist-sized chunks, then turning back to bite at Manny. Which would provoke, if Manny wants to attack.

Bite attempt: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
Piercing damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 4) + 10 = 20 and 1d6 ⇒ 3 evil.
