@Stepnik - is there a way for you to craft potions “in the field”? I’m not against going back to town, but now seems like an odd time - it has taken a bunch of hours to get here, AND this place is clearly inhabited. As a *player* I’d be keen to “clear” the place rather than let the denizens, now likely sure we are invading, to shore up their defenses even more….

I can do my normal potions, and my instant ones, but if back in town I can maybe try to find formulas and do different ones. Outside my innate abilities I have to spend at least half the cost of the ingredients... and the time I spend lowers the cost the longer I do so. It's not a big deal if you guys want to stay.

The more loot we find the more potions I can make. :-)

Fatal is very strong but it's given to weapons with very small weapon dies.

Waedin just got unlucky with amazing attack rolls combined with REALLY high damage rolls.

That's what I was wondering. But 'Deadly' specifies that the extra damage die is added AFTER doubling damage on a crit, whereas 'Fatal' does not make that distinction. It feels like it should be that way, or else it's extremely powerful.

So that means the Kobold 1 Crit would have netted 23 damage, not 28, which means Waedin would have still gone down after the Kobold 2 hit.

Fatal changes the die. Usually small (d4, d6) to larger (d8, d10, D12)

On Fighters it is really good. Or you set yourself (and help from group) to debuff/buff for it.

A party built to buff two members with Fatal weapons can be quite good.

Not only does it change the die, but it also adds a die. The question is, do you add the die before or after doubling the crit damage?

The fatal trait includes a die size. On a critical hit, the weapon’s damage die increases to that die size instead of the normal die size, and the weapon adds one additional damage die of the listed size.

That is a good question....it reads either way....hmmm ...I want to lean it adds that extra die and it doubles, but ...wow that would be strong.

Perhaps it only adds an extra die as Deadly in this case.

I can see either interpretation.

I'm going to rule, at this table at least, that the formula is (1dX+Y)*2 +1dX rather than (2dX+Y)*2, until I'm convinced otherwise.

In this case, the end result is the same so doesn't effect this combat. Game on!
