What are those? Aris looks back over her shoulder at the people taking care of the injured, then at the maggots, then at the glass globe in her hand.

Don't worry, Viktor. I probably do know what they are.

"Ewww. Some huge worms just came out of that spider. Icky. So not touching those.", Finja relays the information to Aravashnial, very unwilling to enter melee with the creatures unless they prove themselves a danger.
"Or, for that manner, letting them touch me."
She focuses for a moment, then speaks in a strange mixture of Elven, Draconic and Celestial that even to herself are not proper words, just syllables containing raw arcane power. She lets her hands flow over the tunic she wears, and which now starts to shimmer with the blueish hue of an armor made of force.

Dunno if I beat the Maggots, but as soon as her turn comes up, she will cast Mage Armor. Stating it now in case I'm holding things up. Been a very harsh week for me.

Male Human Slayer/Spell warrior AC17/15/12 Fort 4 Ref 4 Will 1/5 CMB=5, CMD=17 Perc=3 Init=2

Free action, switch bardiche to left hand
Move action, draw throwing axe with right hand, no actual movement as he wants to block ways to NPCs
Swift action, arcane strike both weapons
Standard action, throw throwing axe at nearest Maggot
Free action, take bardiche in 2 hands

Smaller targets then the spider, better make sure to hit
Viktor thinks, forgoing the use of deadly aim, switching his bardiche to a one handed stance, and then rapidly drawing and throwing an axe at the closest spider.

throw: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 1 = 14 vs possibly flatfooted
damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10

And hopefully being rewarded with a good hit, he quickly grabs his

Attack of opportunity:

AoO Bardiche: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 = 24 Bardiche crits on 19

Another maggot closes with Victor five foot step then undulates and vomits forth a stream of putrid filth upon Victor. Viktor please make a fortitude check.

The last one scrambles across the distance to Theoden then copies its foul friend and spits the same mass at Theoden. Five foot step and Theoden please make a fortitude check.

I was intending to hit the one closest to me to get my AoO off, I did confusingly write "closest spider" when I meant closest maggot though. Had I tried to hit any other maggot, I would have possibly had to contend with cover or range increment issues.

Any news about the 3rd NPC survivor that Parvin is working on?

@Parvin The middle aged human seem to be severely wounded. Various cuts and bruises' cover his body. Every time you go to examine a wound he grumbles and winces. When the maggot's burst free from the spiders body he cringes and hides behind you. "Deal with those things quickly before they hurt someone important."

"The situation is being handled, don't worry. Try not to move too much for a few minutes. When all is safe to allow it, I will gather everyone around close and call upon Sarenrae's gift of healing. I believe you can be fully restored in that way, your injuries healed."

Yeap, something glitters close to the carcass, good thing I have a broad skillset a moment please Mr. Theoden.

He prestigitates his Bardiche, then proceeds to prestigitate Theoden as well, removing yucky maggot parts.
I figure you dont get infected easily, but there is no reason to risk it.

He then uses a mage hand to partry retrieve his thrown axe, before also prestigitating it while it is still mid air.

Lets see if I can remove and clean whatever glitters there without risking infection. Clean weapons are good weapons. Its not as if using disease or poisons would work against our main adversaries.
Attempting to mage hand whatever is glittering.

So, Giant maggots? Means Giant flies for certain, which may just be what that giant spider there was eating. Oh, I would like to preemptively veto any attempts to domesticate the local fiendishly infused vermin wild life. I have seen some druid try, didnt work.
He speaks in a pretty mirthfull voice.

It's clear that the NPC's with the broken leg and blindness can't be healed by standard HP healing, but what about the third one? Is there any mechanical benefit to a channel or two, or would that just be wasted?

Viktor's magic pulls out one of the things glittering in the rubble. It is a silvery scale about the size of a human man’s palm. As soon as you touch it you have a flash of insight showing you being struck by electricity and cold , and you now you weren't hurt.

You know that three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast resist elements—but only against electricity or cold.

@Parvin as far as you can tell the elf is near death and the woman is not far behind. The middle aged man seem severely wounded as well.

"Hu, that looks pretty.", Finja looks at the rubble to see if there are more scales to be found.

Parvin gathers in all those who need to be healed. Raising her arm to fully expose Sarenrae's holy symbol imprinted on her skin, she calls upon the Dawnflower's healing grace. Two flashes of healing light wash out to engulf those gathered around.

Channel #1: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Channel #2: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Ugh, channeling is so unimpressive. Does that take care of everyone sufficiently?

Finja sees four other scales shining in the dark as she retrieves each she gets a vision as to their powers

Cloudwalking: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and shrinking with the target’s altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in diameter (regardless of the target’s size) and provides concealment (20% miss chance) to any creature or object wholly contained within.

Disguise: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast alter self. While disguised, the target gains a +4 bonus on all Bluff checks made against evil creatures.

Resistance: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast resist elements—but only against electricity or cold.

Sacred Weaponry: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast align weapon, but only to make a weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon spell, this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.

Parvin Sees her healing closes all superficial wounds and begins the healing process on some of the deeper wounds. you now see that the middle aged man was only scratched and bruised. He is now completely healthy though he still whines a little.

Anevia, the human woman, says "Thank you. But you should save those for when we really, really need healing."

Aravashnial, the elf, speaks up saying "I simply must know all of your names if I'm to give you instructions. Also who is the best fighter amongst you?"

The middle aged human male says "I, of course, am Horgus Gwerm. No doubt you have heard of me."

Viktor looks around.

Viktor Hämndson, of the Orchestra mercenary group. I was a part of eh, how to say that it common, "diversionary and reconnaissance" group?
Note sure if I am the "best warrior", these Maggots werent much of an objective benchmark. Most valued kill of my lifetime was a Schir. Trashtalked it into charging me head on, into my readied bardiche, over a greasepatch it didnt see, and it didnt see the rope trap and the cold iron caltrops either. I dont think I would have won in a "fair fight" against it, but fighting fair is for Paladins. No offense to any of those present.

He pauses, eying the various scales.

Hmm, these scales are really useful, I do speak Abyssal and can probably impersonate mid level Cultist personel, to an extent at least, we are lacking any references concerning the local cultist operations. Impersonating a Demon can be done, but is typically a bad idea because you arent telepathic, and cant teleport at will, so its pretty easy to be discovered due to this.
Can we somehow anticipate how long they would last without expending a charge?
He asks, inspecting the alter self shard.
Aligning weapons also seems really handy.

Note that alter self gives a handy +2 size bonus to strength if used to impersonate a medium humanoid, or a bonus to dex if used to impersonate a small one. It is also a way to get like, swimspeeds, scent, additional natural attacks or darkvision, as such it has utility far beyond bluffing

Cloud Walking, Disguise and Sacred Weaponry lasts 19 minutes. Resistance lasts three hours and ten minutes.

Female Aasimar Bard (Dawnflower Dervish) 1 HP: 11/11 | AC: 19 (T: 14, F: 15) | CMB: +0, CMD: 14 | F: +4, R: +6, W: +2 (+2 Deathless Spirit) | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 30' | Performance 13/13

Does the resistance from the scale stack with aasimar celestial resistance since they overlap?

No it does not stack.

Male Human Slayer/Spell warrior AC17/15/12 Fort 4 Ref 4 Will 1/5 CMB=5, CMD=17 Perc=3 Init=2

If I am not mistaked these are scales of Terendelev. It is a forlorn hope, but if we find a potent enough cleric... He pauses

I am far removed from being able to cast such magics, but resurrection rituals tend to require a piece of the body of the deceased, which we now have. Ressurrecting Terendelev is thus possible, and would have sizeable military implications. Comrades, we should find some way to rejoin other survivors on the surface, ideally quickly, as that would have impact far beyond what we can actually do ourselfs. Each of use should pocket one scale, so this mission can suceed if any of us makes it. I will claim the align weapon scale, as I predominatly use weaponry.

He squints into the darkness.

"I don't care. You keep dealing with the yucky things, you can carry any scale you want."

After the immediate emergencies have been dealt with, Parvin introduces herself to the other underground survivors. Along with her name, Parvin states that she has come to Mendev from Gurat in Qadira to join the crusade. Almost apologetically she adds her arrival is quite recent and that she is unclear about what has happened to the city or why it was possible for it to happen.

With her speaking at length for the first time, a couple of things are noticeable. Parvin's Taldane carries hardly a hint of an accent though it is not her first language. On the other hand, she speaks a 'nowhere' version of Taldane, suggesting no region where she might hail from, and no inclusion of slang of any kind. In fact her use of the language is so textbook perfect that it could not have been learned naturally, only in a academic setting.

"We should prepare to move on from here as soon as possible. Without water and food stores on hand, our time to find our way out to the surface is limited. We must also organize to support Anevia and Aravashnial. I can assist Anevia in walking, and Aravashnial will need a guide."

"I will go with Viktor to decide which direction to go. I ask that all of you be ready to move by the time we return."

Parvin's delivery of directions to the group is brisk, concise, and done with confidence. She seems used to expressing opinions and giving directions that are heeded.
