Gaius Marius

Gaius moves closer, hoping it will improve his aim as he fires at the remaining soldier.
MW Composite Longbow (+1 Str) with Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 91d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 = 10
The curse continues! :(
Rozi
|
Rozi swings three blades wildly at the dog, shortsowrds in hands and tail blade on .... tail.
mwk shortsword, twf: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 = 8damage, sneak: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (1) = 4
shortsword, twf: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23damage, sneak: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (2) = 5
tail blade: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 2 = 14damage, sneak: 1d2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (6) = 8
Rozi likely lands a hit or two, stabbing with a sword and maybe cutting with a tail blade.
Lady Alya De Qill
|
Alya jumped off her mount and looked back at the fight, she grabbed her crossbow and aimed, it was a distance but she could make it.
at red packman Light Crossbow 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 = 7 the -1 is for 1 range incrment miss
Gaius Marius
|
Alright, we need to have some kind of curse removal ceremony to fix our die rolls! Who's close to New Orleans??!
Flying Freedom
|
Freedom steps to the side of the dog coming at her, grabs her curve blade from the air as it returns, and strikes at the cur.
mw ecb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Gaius Marius
|
Rozi defeats the nearby dog. Alya, Gaius, and Flying Freedom all miss.
Twitchy, your target is down, so please redo your action, including rolling again.
I started the miss-parade, I stink! :(
Gaius Marius
|
Gaius will try, again, to shoot the remaining soldier:
MW Composite Longbow (+1 Str) with Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 171d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8
Rozi
|
Rozi 5 foot steps north to allow a flanker to move in, then delays until a flanker moves in to make his 3 attacks.
mwk shortsword, twf: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 = 25 damage, sneak: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (6) = 9
shortsword, twf: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18 damage, sneak: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + (3) = 4

I'm going to reassign attacks just a little to make this work out. In real time you guys would be able to discuss.
Rozi and Twitchy team up to deal with the soldier, and Gaius deals with the last dog.
You definitely hear other groups approaching your position.
[ooc]what now team? stay here or go into town?
Lady Alya De Qill
|
She mounts up and jees her mount on into the town,
As she passes the others she says.
"Move move move, into the town fast as you can"
And heads in at full speed.
Gaius Marius
|
"Into the town as fast as we can!"
Gaius starts running for the town.
| GM Redelia |
You quickly make your way through a bit more mire, and into the town of Railford.
Atop a hillock stand half a dozen small stone cottages surrounding a tall brick and timber building topped with a massive tin-covered water drum. A sign over its looming doors reads Railford Distillery est. 4693. From a squat brick building sharing an adjoining wall with the distillery rises a long cylindrical chimney. A low, moss-covered cobblestone wall surrounds the entire property.
Every building in town has its shutters closed and latched. You also constantly hear threats shouted at you from directions you are not facing, and a few bottles and bits of trash are thrown at you.
Lady Alya De Qill

heads for the largest building in town. If there is not such a biulding in the center. Once there she stops and calls out at the top of her lungs.

"Attracting additional attention was not the course of action calculated for the highest probability of success..." Orenjii mumbles as Lady de Quil announces the Pathfinders' presence.

"Could you speak louder? Some of the soldiers who we ran from might not have heard you."
Gaius keeps an eye out for more soldiers and keeps his bow covered but ready.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Lady Alya De Qill

To her fellows she says,
"I suggest you all take cover and hid, I'm front and center here, if this goes wrong, head back out as best you can, I will Delay them as best I can. But we need to know what is going on here and time is short"
She looks around to see if there is any response. She goes on,
"TELL US, WHY WOULD YOU ATTACK TRAVELERS COMING HERE WITHOUT HESITATION? WE TRIED TO TALK TO THOSE AT THE CAM FIRES, BUT THEY JUST ATTACKED AT ONCE, WHY!!! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?"
Deplomacy 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Gaius Marius
|
"Run and hide? Woman, you're speaking to a Taldan; never order us around like that."
Lady Alya De Qill
|
"Be assured Edge Gaius I suggested that is all. I would not think to order. But right now we have bigger things to worry about, the way I see it is, we either, Negotiate turms which I am trying to do, find egress into a defendable position or we withdrew. I am all ears if you have a fourth better option, which I would be happy to follow."
She looked worried, this was not going as planned, what going on here, She look around to see of there is a response to her attempt to parlay.
What in the hells is going on here, if the towns are locked down, that means the men and dogs were guards but why an attack with no words at all?. She started to get a cold feeling that the new LOAD RAILFORD was behind what ever is going on here. Had he done something to this town and this was the default they spoke of?
Flying Freedom
|
Freedom draws on her previous battlefield experience to suggest a plan with some hope of survival.
"We need to find spot where we can defend ourselves. Something not vulnerable to fire, with a chokepoint where our enemies cannot benefit from larger numbers. If we can hold them off long enough, perhaps we can negotiate, since dealing with us is not their primary concern."

"It doesn't appear that the people in the Distillery are working with whomever is manning the campfires or else they'd be calling for help, ringing a bell, something instead of throwing bottles and trash at us. Perhaps the people here think we're some of the people out there?"

After a few moments, a few villagers come out to talk. They are armed with household and farm implements, except the leader who carries an old sword. They demand to know what you are doing in their town, and if you are related to the soldiers surrounding the town.
Lady Alya De Qill
|
She dismounts and walks to the leader.
"We came to find shelter out of the rain, and were attacked by those outside your town, with our rhyme or reason, do you know why?"
Gaius Marius

"As our rather excitable associate has indicated, we aren't related to the soldiers outside. In fact we had to kill a group of them and their guard dogs before we could enter the Distillery. We're here to find the son of Iodon Railford and hold discussions with him regarding the future of the Distillery and to offer our assistance. If you would be so kind as to introduce us, we'd be very appreciative."
Lady Alya De Qill
|
She did not respond the comments about her. Humans lived such short lives, what would be the point.
"As our bowmen here says, we are here to meet with Railford junior, but before you point us in right way to Master Railford, an explanation of what is according here would help more me thinks. Troops watch firs and dogs. Not a very warm welcome."
Rozi

Rozi tries to help make the case about how he stabbed a dog or two himself. (Aid Another)
Aid Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
"It was outside the town, don't worry, it was one of those dogs that was not on your side! Probably!" He kind of rambles on before cutting himself off hoping not to get in the way.
Lady Alya De Qill
|
GM not being funny but, she has made, 1 intimidation roll and 2 Diplomacy rolls all asking the same question. What is going on here? 4th rolls a charm then, Diplomacy + Inspiration = 1d20 + 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (11) + (5) + 5 = 21
Lady Alya asks again,
"Please, with sugar on top, can you tell us, what is going on here?"
Gaius Marius

Woo hoo, untrained Diplomacy with a Charisma of 8 on the way! 8)

Makes sense; I just rolled a 1 to hit in another module...

Those previous rolls were all made before anyone came out. Even if they had not been used up to get someone to come talk to you, they could not have been used to influence the attitude of someone you had not yet seen.

The man introduces himself as Dalard, and he confides that the distillery’s owner, Becher Railford, recently left town on a private excursion from which he has yet to return. Two days ago, Becher and a few men ventured out into the swamps to recover a secret cache left by his father, which among other things, contains the deeds to the entire town. Only this morning one of his men stumbled into town. Sickened with fever, he told a horrifying tale of walking corpses that fell upon his friends just after Becher recovered his father’s strongbox. The soldiers outside are using a new law to try to claim the distillery and town, and will do so unless the deeds can be retrieved. He begs you to go after Becher, tells you the location of the cave, and gives you a few things to help you. (two scrolls of remove disease and a potion of remove paralysis)
any further questions for him? what do you do now?
Gaius Marius
|
"Greetings Dalard, I am Gaius Marius. Thank you for the information concerning Becher Railford. How many men went with Becher? What common hazards are found in these particular swamps? Did the man who returned tell you anything about how he became ill? I'm guessing by the items you've given us that disease and paralysis are not uncommom?"
Lady Alya De Qill
|
Alya nodes, finally.
She let Gaius talk to the man, Gaius seemed to want to lead so she felt it best let him. She went into her staddle bags and rearranged things. Taking out a few bits and putting some in. One thing she did was hand signal whistles to each of the party.
"If we are heading to a swamp then cave, best have the means to signal each other."
Lady Alya De Qill
|
"Good that will help Orenjii"
Flying Freedom
|
"I can send sound signals a short distance away, or dancing lights a bit further. Unlike Orenjii here however, I do not have a means of facilitating communication over great distances."
Gaius Marius
|
"Let's get into that swamp! If we don't save ol' Becher get those deeds then chances of getting set up with a new lodge here seem slimmer than none."
"Perhaps...but I'd advise care before wandering into an unknown swamp in the dark that's haunted with undead and something that causes disease."
