Please fill in the Macros link at the top of the page. We will begin once everyone has filled out their page.
Tyranius |
Looks like with the current CP we are in high tier. This means that Salaish Talenduth will get a level bump. Do any of you have Mentor Boons for Salaish Talenduth to choose from. (Can choose 2 Mentor Boons)
Level Bump
Arlo Rumble |
Hello! I noticed I messed something up on RPGChronicles, sorry. I thought my GP Gained from last chronicle was my total GP. GP should be 269.46, not 100.64. My apologies.
This character just leveled up, I'll update his stats online soon (within 24 hours), and fill in the macro accordingly.
Jayma |
I've updated the macros for Jayma. Nice to see some familiar faces. Jayma's adventured with Arlo and Symeon in the past. Looks like we've got a good group here.
Iniquity Pen |
I have Protective Mentor at Revered for +6 more HP, but I would recommend any other mentor boon if available.
Hurrying through the last of the GM credit on thus character.
EDIT: I have 1 Glyph to give out.
EDIT: My armor has Bulwark.
EDIT: Gladiator archetype allows me to use Performance as Initiative if there are non-combat spectators.
EDIT: Situational modifiers are written in the macro's notes as additions to the base default modifier for ease of calculation but they're not bonuses.
Symeon Isafira |
I don't think I grabbed it yet, but Symeon should definitely qualify for the Magical Mentor boon which really only helps magical casters, but I think Salaish is a bard, iirc.
I have a glyph as well.
It'll be great to play with Jayma and Salaish again, it's been a moment since I last played Symeon and this looks like a great group to dust him off with. I'm also looking forward to playing this series. I GMed and played (with Symeon nonetheless) the special tied to these, so I'm excited to see how it began.
GM Tyranius |
@Arlo - Updated your gold in Chronicles
@Iniquity Pen - Looks like you still need to input your skill modifier numbers on the Macro sheet. Saves and Lore were input but not skills.
@All- Looks like the table has 2 Glyphs so far. (Who are they going to?)
Symeon Isafira |
Well Salaish should get one, period. Otherwise, I'm hoping there's enough for everyone to have a second at the start.
Iniquity Pen |
If Symeon is giving his to Salaish, I'll give one to Symeon. Investigators make lots of rolls. :)
Salaish Talenduth |
Looks like with the current CP we are in high tier. This means that Salaish Talenduth will get a level bump. Do any of you have Mentor Boons for Salaish Talenduth to choose from. (Can choose 2 Mentor Boons)
Level Bump
Increase every DC the PC has by 1.
Increase the attack modifiers, attack damage, spell damage, saving throw modifiers, skill modifiers, Perception modifiers, and AC of the PC by 1.
Increase the Hit Point totals of the PC by 10 or by 10%, whichever is higher.
I'll get Salaish's character sheet adjusted with the three items listed above today.
Thanks to Iniquity Pen for the mentor boon and Symeon for the glyph. :)
Iniquity Pen |
We've got Horizon Hunters with us, and the mentor boons are free at Liked, so you should have the option for 2 of the following:
Protective Mentor: +6 more HP more above bump
Magical Mentor: spell DCs +1 more above bump
Rugged Mentor: saving throws +1 more above bump
Worldly Mentor: perception and initiative +1 more above bump
Arlo Rumble |
Ah, forgot the Mentor Boon. I'm Verdant Wheel, I can give bonuses to Initiative and Perception checks:
Help low-level PCs at your table with Perception checks and Initiative rolls. Must be Liked by Verdant Wheel to obtain.
I have two glyphs to hand out. :)
I have GMed this scenario rather recently, so I'll keep to the back a bit.
Updated my character to level 6, now updating my digital sheet and filling in the macro sheet.
GM Tyranius |
Alright, we are all filled in on the Macros. Will start up the intro while Salaish chooses two of the mentor boons. (Just let me know which ones so I can update the tracker.)
Jayma |
We've got Horizon Hunters with us, and the mentor boons are free at Liked...
I'm sorry, but except for claiming a Wayfinder boon, I've never done anything with Faction Boons and haven't dealt with them before.
Jayma has a reputation of 65 with Horizon Hunters. Looking over the documentation, this appears to make her Admired, which apparently gives her access to a variety of Faction Boons. Most seem to cost some nominal AcP to purchase, but Mentor boons appear to be free. So I went ahead and claimed the Rugged Mentor Boon for Jayma (as well as Heroic Hustle and Rugged Wayfinder).
So now it seems that I can chose a lower-level PC who requires a Level Bump and increase their saving rolls by 2 (instead of the regular 1). Looks like only Salaish qualifies, so she now has +2 to all her saving throws from the level bump.
Symeon Isafira |
Only problem is one can only benefit from any 2 mentor boons at the most, so she will have to choose.
Iniquity Pen |
I certainly recommend increasing one's saving throws. That'll bring your saves in line with a level 5 character.
More notes for the GM:
Impressive Performance: I used Performance for Make an Impression
Fancy Moves: I used Performance for Demoralize
Clever Improviser: I get half level to Untrained skills and can attempt trained actions despite being untrained. More pertinent, Iniquity happily uses any appropriate Recall Knowledge skill no matter how wrong he risks being.
Stage Fighting: Unless fighting irredeemable creatures (e.g., undead, golems, slimes, etc.), all weapon damage is nonlethal (at no penalty).
Arlo Rumble |
Ah, I see I've been ninja'd by Iniquity when I was typing my previous post. :)
I also see we have a good small-to-medium ratio in the party. :)
Information for the GM:
- Wildwood Halfling gives me no difficult terrain from plants. I think that would also include magically created plants, but I'll leave that up to your discretion.
- Watchful Halfling gives me bonuses to notice possessed characters, as well as a free check to notice them (it's never come up yet, but you never know).
- In case I tie initiative with enemies, Pilgrim's Token allows me to go first.
- Intimidating Glare allows me to use Intimidation despite not sharing a language with opponents.
To everyone else:
- I've got all the relevant Medicine feats to treat people: Battle Medicine, Ward Medic, Continual Recovery. Out of combat, healing shouldn't be a problem.
- I've got a +15 on Medicine checks, as well as Assurance. I'll most likely just roll for checks anyway, in case of crit successes (and I tend to use Hero Points for fumbles). If you prefer I use Assurance on you, please say so.
Iniquity Pen |
There's Lay on Hands healing at 18 hp/cast, too, so out of combat healing is solid. :)
EDIT: And save the risk of needing a Hero Point; use Assurance vs. DC 20 Treat Wounds on me. :)
Arlo Rumble |
Oh yeah, proficiency mod is +10, so I can make a DC 20 for 2d8+10. Which should be about as good as 4d8 on a crit DC 15. Or at least more reliable.
GM Tyranius |
With that I will not worry too much about out of combat healing unless there is a specific time crunch. We will just determine that everyone is topped off after a bit of time.
Salaish Talenduth |
I will take Jayma's Rugged Mentor for +2 to saves and Magical Mentor for +1 to spell DCs.
Thank you!
Symeon Isafira |
Symeon also has many of the relevant healing feats and gets some good bonuses to Battle Medicine. He's not quite got a +15, but does have a solid +11 and can use battle medicine on a character once every hour. He also recently got the medic feat that allows him to treat some conditions as well.
Jayma |
It's good to see that there's plenty of healing because Jayma has nothing in that department. She's a ranged blaster and socialite, so tends not to take a lot of damage.
As to notable feats, she has the following:
Empathetic Plea (↺) Reaction to try and avoid damage from an unprovoked attack.
Gossip Lore Can only be used to Recall Knowledge, but on any topic. A fail gets her the same effects as Dubious Knowledge.
Intimidating Glare For those times when words fail her on a Demoralize.
She also has a bunch of magical items that grant her +1 on several of her more important skill checks. I've included those bonuses in the base skill modifiers of the macros sheet.
Symeon Isafira |
Oh, right unusual abilities. Symeon has:
Gutsy Heritage: it boosts success on emotion effects to crit successes
Known Weaknesses (Class feat): gain a free recall knowledge check on a creature whenever he tries to Devise a Stratagem.
And finally Keen Recollection, allows a check with any recall knowledge untrained, gives level to proficiency to such checks... Though Symeon has a better modifier for most of the recall knowledge skills.
Salaish Talenduth |
And here's Salaish's rundown of useful stuff:
*Inspire Courage (+1)
*Inspire Competence (use +11 Performance to Aid another & failure counts as success)
*Fascinating Performance (up to 4 creatures; lasts 1 round, in combat a crit success is required)
Arlo Rumble |
I said I had two Hero Points to give out, but haven't specified to whom, exactly.
1d3 + 1d2 ⇒ (3) + (1) = 4
One Hero Point to Jayma, one Hero Point to Fin-thir!
Also, for my School Item, I'll grab a Scroll of Heroism.
I'll also buy a Scroll of Animal Form and a Scroll of Spider Climb, for mobility purposes. 12 GP each.
Salaish Talenduth |
I'll be out of town this weekend. Please bot me as needed.
Symeon Isafira |
Well, those attack rolls were dismal.
Jayma |
Well, those attack rolls were dismal.
They matched your damage rolls perfectly though. :)
Iniquity Pen |
That seems like a lot of damage from 1 attack. 2d6 +3d6? Maybe you wanted to make a second attack, but that seems to have been dropped.
I figure it's Spellshot from his Eldritch Archer archetype.
I've got a crossbow gunslinger I'm building toward that. It's a lot of suboptimal vs. bow to bank on crits. Probably should just make a fighter...
GM Tyranius |
Yup, Eldritch Shot. It acts similar to the Magus' Spellstrike to where the damage and spell go off simultaneously. Big damage but sustained for a short period.
Arlo Rumble |
Ah, that explains. I looked into their profile page, but couldn't find it. Must've missed it. Thanks!
Also, GM, I did two Recall Knowledges, one for the dryads, one for the flytraps. Unless you gave me info on the dryads twice, then it's all good. :)
Iniquity Pen |
They swallow paladins, I can tell you that! ;)
GM Tyranius |
Ah sorry, I thought both were for the Dryads. Will get that rolled up here.
Iniquity Pen |
[ooc]Of course the only one who has taken damage is the only person Symeon can't reach.
It's in the job description for champions: take damage. :)
Symeon Isafira |
Wait how does Iniquity have retributive strike and glimpse of redemption? I thought NG champions could ever get Glimpse?
Iniquity Pen |
Played my paladin recently and got confused :)
Symeon Isafira |
My cat passed away today. I'm sorry but I won't be posting an update today.
Jayma |
Tomorrow morning I will be starting a 4-5 day roadtrip that will take me from Italy (where I've been staying for the past few months) back to Spain. It is quite possible that my post production will be affected during this time, especially over the weekend when I will be trying to escape the heat high up in the Apennine Mountains and where connectivity is a known problem. If I am unusually quiet during this time, at least you'll know why.

All good we got you! Enjoy the trip.
Arlo Rumble |
Don't mean to backseat GM, but I think it would've been nice to know that locations "close" when you get enough successes. It might lead to a bit of optimising (not to mention slow down the game a bit), but it prevents situations such s Symeon's where people can't really participate in skills.
On the other hand, I respect a GM's decision to not disclose what happens "behind the scenes." Not revealing the mechanics of the game lets us focus more on the storytelling aspect, rather than the mechanical aspect.
Just wanted to get that off my chest, I didn't mean to insult anyone's style of GMing. Sorry if it came across as such.
GM Tyranius |
Yea, I was trying to get the feel of the best way to run this 'dance' as it is a little weird without it taking quite a while in PbP.
At a RL table it would have been 1 round of checks all the way around the table three times each phase so you would have seen them close.
Though you guys are currently maxing this event in terms of rewards so all in all you are doing excellent.

I will be out of town from June 28th through July 4th. My posting may be unaffected, sporadic, or non-existent, depending on the internet situation in each place I'll be. Please bot me as needed.
Iniquity Pen |
Tyranius' post got a little confused. You'll have to open all the spoilers to see what happened.
GM Tyranius |
All fixed! I missed a close out tag
GM Tyranius |
We are very close to the end of Part 1 here. Please make sure your chronicle information is correct. Is anyone going to level with this chronicle?
