Once Grungy gave him the okay, Kaz moved forward and opened the door for the group.

GM TOP |

Grungy clears the door, confirming it is NOT locked or trapped.
But when Kaztor tries to open it, something seems to be jammed. Maybe it is nailed shut or barricaded?
Strength check (DC not posted, muahahahah) to bust it in or the usual 'chop chop' vs. wood (hardness 5, HP 20)
_______________
Dran, I don't know what the issue is with the map. Your piece hasn't moved since I put the group at the corner. If it isn't what Halali suggested, I don't have a clue how to fix it. Is anyone else having issues with the map or slides?

![]() |

Xev goes incorporeal and floats through to see what's wrong.

GM TOP |

Xev notices a small creature cowering behind a piece of furniture jammed against the door. Filthy, reeking black rags wrap this small humanoid from head to toe, leaving only its hands and pale white nose visible. He is armed with a dagger out.
He speaks an arcane word and suddenly... useless magic happens. It probably would have been more impressive against a target that can't see in the dark. Halali's bird is gonna be pissed again tho!
The spirit heads back out and informs the group of his findings. The pack of dwarves are having nothing of it and shove the door in, cracking the chair holding it shut in two.

Kaz moves up to the hiding humanoid (if someone would move me, please). ”We’ve got you outnumbered. I hope you don’t mean us any trouble, do you? It could get back pretty quickly if you do,” the paladin asks, trying to cut off the fight before it starts.

Peek a boo..we still see you... Ander says as he lowers his gun at the creature, just to prove his point.

Player Note: I don't think The Magi is coming back. It has been a while and I and other people have reached out to the player on multiple mediums, with no response. If they rejoin, I'll slot them back in.
Xev moves in and gets a wide eyed stare from the creature. The other dwarves calmly attempt to intimidate the foe into surrendering. IF he understood your language and wasn't a horrible little creep that is terrified and hateful towards dwarves, it probably wouldn't have worked anyway (with those rolls).
He stabs at Xev, with no success, then rushes to the door... slamming on the brakes as his path is blocked. Even though the words don't match, you are pretty sure he just said 'oh s&+!'.

Looks like I'm outside of the room and have a crowd of dwarves in front of me. I'll wait until I can stroll in, probably when it is dead....

![]() |

I think you missed me, GM. No problem with a delay though :)
"Getting crowded, isn't it boys? Being cooped up underground makes me yearn for the Sky."
With a wistful sigh, Halali uncoils her kusarigame and swings it over the heads of the dwarves in front...
kusarigama: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 attacking against cover, but it's still an attack. Not hitting anything on that roll though :o

You are correct Halali! My bad. I think I'm so used to having long breaks between posting I assumed tons of time had passed. I'll give you another turn though in round two!
Ander blasts another bullet into the darkness. I mean, everyone (but the bird) sees him totally miss. But if you hadn't seen that, he coulda easily played it off as winging a foe.
Grunigon bides his time, like a sneaky rogue should. Halali almost clips Dran's shoulder, hopefully pushing him to action as he is front and center to a foe that just tried to stab the group's phantom.

AND THE ENEMY EXPLODES IN A VIOLENT FLASH OF LIGHT!!!
That’s literally exactly what happens.
Literally. Combat Over. There would be Fort saves vs Blindness if it mattered but no other enemies are around and it only lasts a few rounds. You can RP it though if you wish. DC is 13.

Fortunately, while the body is gone, the items remain. A basic dagger coated with some sort of sludge. Three more vials of the same sludge. And rags. Thick black rags that were the creature’s clothes, whatever it was.
Craft Alchemy to ID the sludge . This can be rolled untrained, it would be just an INT check then.

![]() |

Hey...who turned out the lights....wait...what...Hey! That had better not be your hands, Kaz... Ander says as the darkness falls.
Oh...hey...it's not permanent..thank the Gods! Now...what is this goop... he says as he looks at it.

Ander is pretty sure it is some sort of poison, though the type and what it does is unknown (no take 20, but good question).
It was definitely NOT Kaz who was touching him (probably). Who could it have been?

”What do you mean those aren’t pillows,” Kaz yells as is eyes begin to clear from the flash.

"Are you sure this so-called magic torch isn't faulty, Halali? Didn't fall off the back of a Razmiri wagon, did it? Only the light keeps going out!"
Grim caws in derision.

GM TOP |

Good news, even more treasure is in this room!
The pathfinders find additional items stuffed into the robes. Apparently this exploding stabbing rag thing had looted a few places down here before ending up in this room.
An engraved ivory bracelet, three freshwater pearls, 27g and 32s.
In the room there are also a few ancient pharasman relics, that would probably be of value to the clerics above. And two well preserved scrolls.
Either Halali or Bilos (or someone else I didn't check yet) quickly identifies the scrolls as 'delay poison'.
Oddly enough too, a cloak in a wooden cabinet emanates magic. The cabinet itself is jammed up against the OTHER door to the room. Apparently this thing decided to barricade himself in from both directions. Odd. But I'm sure it doesn't indicate any possible dangers from beyond the door.

![]() |

When Kaz is told about the loot, he makes sure the crew takes it. Same for the relics…want to make the bosses happy too, he figured.
”Pick a door, guys, and I’ll try to knock it down, assuming we can open it up all quiet like!”

![]() |

A magic cloak? Is it one of those that lets you skink about like the pointy eared folk? Might come in handy. Now...any bets on that cabinet being put there for a reason? I'm not the brightest ioun stone in the pouch, but if I were a betting dwarf...and I have been in the past...there's something through yonder door... Ander says as he chews the end of a somehow still lit stogie.

GM TOP |

I'm sure the cloak is perfectly safe! Totally not cursed. I say, put it on and see if you feel elfier stealthier.
There is really only one door to go through here. The one you came in was barricaded, but that didn't last long. One could probably easily slide the wooden cabinet out of the way of the other door. Breaking would not be necessary.

![]() |

not necessary...lol...yeah right...
Well, time's wasting, folks...we got things to do and stuff to kill...someone grab the cloak and let's get thing thing moved and let's get mobile...if I run out of smokes down here, I'm gonna get right irritable... Ander says as he grabs a handful of some sweets and shoves them in his mouth around his cigar.
Jelly babies? Don't worry...they're not made out of real babies...I'm pretty sure anyways...ha! he says with a chuckle and a spray of partially chewed candy.

![]() |

Halali examines the cloak whilst sampling Shooter's sweets.
Spellcraft (+ Detect Magic): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Then, assuming no adverse indications from her scrutiny, she throws the cloak over her shoulders. "What do you think of the colour, Shooter? Should I get some new boots to match?"

GM TOP |

Dran takes the scrolls and Halali claims the +1 Cloak of Resistance!
I’ll try to get the next room up this evening (in 12 hrs or so).

GM TOP |

Kaztor shoves the closet out of the way, Grunigon confirms it is a safe door to open and Dran does the honors.
The theme of judgment in the afterlife is continued in the carvings on the walls of this room. A wide table stands along the north wall, draped with a heavy black cloth. A single candle burns in a tall, iron candlestick in the southwest corner, but the rest of the room is cloaked in shadows.
Not that you can't see in the dark or anything... /sigh at flavor-text assuming vision status. Ooooh, spoooooky shadows! Anyway, anyone go in?

![]() |

Kaz bravely strides forward, leading the way for the team. ”Step aside, dwarves! Kaz will bravely lead the way! What’s the worst that can happen….”

GM TOP |

A high pitched voice drifts out from the table area, "Welcome visitor. You have come to see the future? To learn the wisdom of the earth, wind and seas? To ask that which should not be asked? You have come to the right place. The mystical oracle, Ya-Rix shall solve your needs... for a price."
The speech seems very practiced.

![]() |

"Gold or souls? I have both, though I'm not sure I want to turn either over."

GM TOP |

The voice hisses happily, "Jusst gold, one per quesstion."

![]() |

"One gold?" Halali asks.
"I will pay your price, oh Ya-Rix, oracle of the earth, wind and sea. Tell me: what is the secret of flight?"

![]() |

I'm sensing this is not Gorum's way. I'll not be calling on the power of others to answer my questions.
Dran looks on disaprovingly.

![]() |

"I do enjoy a good jest ...not as much as Draken, though... but I feel there is a better use of our funds."
He tosses a coin to the oracle. "Where are the bodies which have been stolen from above?"

GM TOP |

What is simply best described as a goblin's head on the body of a snake* uncoils from under the table and snaps up Halali's coin sitting on the table, "Oh, that's easy, wings. I mean... uh, the wind shall lift you like a feather on the breeze, once you have feathers to lift."
*Trained K: Dungeoneering to ID.
Snapping up the tossed coin from Ander she smiles with a Cheshire grin, "To earn coin for your skills, obviously. Gold makes the world go round."
The white bearded Dran looks more ready to cleave the creature in half than ask a question, but fortunately Bilos steps in with an actual dungeon related question.
She ponders for a moment while balancing the coin on her dexterous tail. Blinks twice and replies, "the bodies you seek, dead yet moving, are beyond the great pit."

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Ha-ha!" calls the Stormcrow. "There you go Halali, you and your dwarves just need feathers!"

Hmmmph...tell me something I don't already know... Ander says, disappointed with the "oracle's" answer.
And a pit? Well, we just might have to get Dran to toss me across...then I'll chuck a rope over for you lot...
