Without any weapon the lawyer simply takes notes for the future trial.
You can use one of those static arc pistols we looted from the shobhad, if you want!! They're Large sized, do you take a -4 to attacks with them, on top of whatever other minuses we get for being in a moving van....but hey, maybe you'll get lucky :D
/Speaker for the Dead\
|
Speaker for the Dead, looking uncharacteristically like a holo-vid action hero, holds on to the van's door frame with one hand while firing his pistol with the other!
Attacking a bad guy. I've factored the -2 for firing from the moving vehicle below. I haven't factored in any range penalties (30' range increment)--please adjust as necessary.
Attack vs KAC: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 2 = 2
damage (piercing): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Romano Fafard

Romano takes his azimuth laser pistol and shoots ar the enemy vehicle. He appreciates that he can contribute to catch up.
Vehicle AC, Fire Damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 251d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
| cmlobue |
As the vehicles pass by a liquor store, Speaker for the Dead shoots through an open window and hears the sound of glass breaking and shouting in Goblin.
Romano fires his laser, scoring the side of the enemy van.
Twisted Nicknick despairs that he is not able to issue traffic citations.
The opposing pilot moves their van toward yours!

So if I understand the Chase Rules properly - Liftt could do two things now in the Pilot Phase (like a Speed Up action, and a Trick action to divert traffic,) but the only way to do so is to use the Double Maneuver Pilot action, which increases the DCs of both, and counts as a Full Action, meaning Liftt wouldn't have any actions left for non-Pilot-y things this turn? Is that right?
Also - is it possible/how would it work if Varuthalla wanted to try and aid Piloting?
| cmlobue |
Your interpretation is correct.
I haven't seen any rules about aid, so I assume it works the same - you spend the same action and make a DC 10 Piloting check, and if successful, Liftt gets a +2 bonus to his check.
| cmlobue |
Yes. Though apparently I was wrong, and the DC is 15 + item level.
Varuthalla
|
If you want to try something daring Liftt, Varuthalla would totally offer to help - maybe like, from the turret, she's spotting the incoming cars and yelling when to turn, vectors of incoming traffic, etc?
In any case, Varuthalla has a +12 Piloting, so she auto-succeeds to assist. @cmlobue is it ok to say Varuthalla uses her Move action to assist if Liftt wants, but otherwise wouldn't spend the action?
Liftt
|
Liftt, irate at the dangerous driving of the other car somewhat loses his temper. Cutting in and out of the traffic, he tries to force the oncoming cars into the path of the other vehicle!

Anyone knowing the normally mild mannered Liftt would hardly recognise the road-road enthralled figure behind the wheel that they see before themselves now.
Cutting viscously to the left, he brings the buggy around so he can point his nice new loaner weapon out the window.
"NEVER CUT ME OFF !"

Varuthalla and Liftt both fire at the van, and damage it enough that it can't handle any more punishment. They pull into a roadside shopping center closed off for construction. lol love the mental image of the mild-mannered driving instructor pulling a John Wick and swerving the van, while also shooting a 20 lbs cannon out the window :D Their van did not, as it turns out, go helluva fast :D
Also aw man, did they have to be exactly one frag grenade's worth apart!
Varuthalla nods with newfound appreciation at Liftt's capabilities as she hops off the turret. Remembering how hard the shobhad's we fought in the lab swung their swords, isn't going to rush forwards to present herself as a target this time. She'll fire off one of our looted frag grenades at shobhad MisterDoctor T and Green3, and then dash into cover.
