Relieved that both dinosaurs have fallen, Dr. Lazarus immediately turns to Gib and asks, "What do you say, my boy? Would you care to handle our wounds this time around?" The Doctor unpacks his healers tools just in case.
While he's being healed, he retrieves his Moderate Antiplague potion. He suggests, "Do we want to quaff our potions that we received?" He downs his.
When Ashasar warns about the hounds, Dr. Lazarus pipes up excitedly, "My dear colleagues, these are the Hounds of Tindalos that I mentioned earlier." He continues (as if the group, like many a university student, wasn't paying attention the first time) "They fly, teleport, and have a gaze effect if you approach. But they lose much of their power in rounded rooms, with no acute angles, such as this one." He makes sure everyone is taking notes. He shakes his head when he sees no writing pads, but he'll settle for mental notes.
Considering the group supplies, Lazarus suggests, "Perhaps now is an opportune time to avail ourselves of our Scrolls of Fly?" He waits till near the end of the rest period and attempts to read his scroll.

As Gib tends to his wounds, Dr. Lazarus winces as the initial taping is a little tight. Ultimately good as new, the Doctor acknowledges, "You do fine work, my boy." He can't even tell he was trampled upon.

Round 3:
Dr. Lazarus 21 damage Stoneskin DR 5 for 18 minutes or hits, two DC 25 basic Fort saves vs 12 and 7 damage

![]() |

Natesh responds to Lazarus's question about precognitive magic with a meek nod, "just brief moments. Although, based on your attacks, your studies have given you a much clearer view of the future than my meager magic."
Moving to get a clearer shot, Natesh mimes out reading another arrow, but this time prepares a long bolt of acid that he launches at the lone horror.
Casting Acid Arrow at Hound Two
Acid Arrow Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Acid Damage: 3d8 ⇒ (4, 4, 7) = 15 And 1d6 persistent acid damage
◆ Stride, ◆◆ Cast Spell (acid arrow)

As he moves into position, Dr. Lazarus tries to hold it together against those harmful bulging eyes.
Fortitude DC 25: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Fortitude DC 25: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Instead of 12hp and 7hp, success means: 6 and 3. And if Stoneskin applies to each attack, would it be 1 and 0? If so, I'm a big fan of Stoneskin!
Lazarus smiles, "Look at the cute red eyes." He seems oddly unaffected by them, thanks to Natesh!

”Hey come back here hound!” Gib shift back next to the first hound which everyone is ganging up on so he can give the beast a poke from his rapier and slash from his dagger. ” Doc, if you think the hounds are that cute why don’t you take one home? I’m sure you can house train it.” The gnome finishes with a grin.
Stride, strike, strike
The foe is flat-footed to Gib due to Gang up feat.

GM Bret |

Instead of the long slashes that others have suffered, Dr. Lazarus has a shower of stone chips and only a minor nick from the hound’s gaze.
Natesh strikes Hound Two with his acidic missile. The hound clearly does not appreciate the gift.
Gib moves into position and attacks twice. The strikes do not get past the hound’s defenses. He gets exposed to the glare of both hounds.
Ripping Gaze, Hound One: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 2) = 13 basic DC 24 Fort save
Ripping Gaze, Hound Two: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 4) = 16 basic DC 24 Fort save
Oops, forgot to apply sickened to the DC. Fortunately it doesn’t change anything best I can tell.

Made one Fort save in my post with a 31 result.
fort save DC25 vs hounds Gaze: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Gib winces in pain from the sharp cutting hound glances. " I vote we give the bad wolfs a quick death."

GM Bret |

Although he shrugs off the worst of the effect from one of the hounds, Gib gets the full effect from the other.

Astrid should be at -21 HP. 13 for the failed fort save and 18-10=8 for the claw attack/shield block with lesser sturdy shield.
"I said it before and I'll say it again. Bad dog!"

GM Bret |

@Astrid Sorry, got the hardness wrong. Correcting. Please update your header with the correct damage to your shield.
Astrid finds out that trying to intimidate one of these hounds is a mistake.
Otherwordly Mind, Mental Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 5) = 15 DC 24 basic Will save, special on crit fail
The hound does not seem in the least intimidated. Perhaps it didn’t have time to fear her before she killed it by skewering it with her sword and then slamming her shield into it. Still, the headache is quite real.

"Natesh, now that's an arrow!"
After seeing the keen flight of Grabthar's Hammar and Astrid eviscerate that poor pup, Lizzo decides to teach the last one a lesson new lesson.
"Stay!"
He yells for the final hound to stay put as he fires away from a safe distance.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

will save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
"Ugh. Very bad dog."

GM Bret |

Lizzo’s first arrow sticks through the dog into the floor. Unfortunately he was expecting the hound to continue moving so the next two arrows miss.
Astrid has another reason she really doesn’t like these creatures.
The only remaining hound quickly gets free and then disappears.
Athletics: 1d20 + 15 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 15 - 1 = 29
Leaving marker at it’s last known location.
Persistent acid: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Does it end?: 1d20 ⇒ 17 Yes it does
It would be an Arcana or Occultism check to know what happened with the hound,
Feel free to speculate without knowing.

Natesh nods modestly to Lizzo, "thank you, still not as accurate as your. I might ask to bother you later to help me rectify that later."
Suddenly realizing that one of the hounds has vanished Natesh wheels his head around, his eyes darting around and taking hold of himself as he worries for suddenly being sliced to ribbons by the hound's ripping gaze. "I didn't see where it went. I think you mentioned it could do something like this Doctor. Could it have fled? I know that would be a sore temptation given how quickly it and it's fellows were struck down."
"Or it could be skulking around invisibly just waiting for a moment to tear us apart." Natesh moves alongside one of the pillars as he grabs a scroll to pierce invisibility, even if that isn't the answer, drawing some spell to hand that might provide Natesh more insight seems to calm Natesh slightly as he gives furtive glances around the room.
Arcana to Identify What Happened with the Hound: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38

When the hound disappears, Dr. Lazarus tries to track its movement based on his vast knowledge of the occult.
Occultism+Pursue DC 28: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 1 = 22
He's genuinely surprised when he comes up empty. But then he recalls the information in his book that he passed around earlier. "For those who didn't just skim the book for pictures ..." he glances pointedly at Lizzo, before continuing, "... you'll recall that the hounds can Teleport to a location with a 90 degree angle." Quickly scanning the room, the Doctor points to the north, "Possibly in that northern alcove?" He scans the alcove from his current position.
Seek+Pursue: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 17 + 1 = 20
If he doesn't see anything, he looks harder. (If this is allowed.)
Seek+Pursue: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 17 + 1 = 29
The RNG is making amends this round. How nice.
◆ Recall, ◆ Seek, ◆ Seek

GM Bret |

Natesh and the doctor both realize that the hound has turned invisible rather than teleported away or some other explanation. Natesh is glad to have his first instinct proven correct as he now has a scroll in hand to deal with exactly this sort of thing.
Dr. L, I need you to pick an area you are seeking in. You can attempt it more than once in a round.
Please select a 30-foot cone or a 15-foot burst within line of sight.
Everyone: “Targeting an undetected creature is difficult. If you suspect there's a creature around, you can pick a square and attempt an attack. This works like targeting a hidden creature, but the flat check and attack roll are both rolled in secret by the GM.”

When he and Natesh realize it turned invisible, Dr. Lazarus looks around.
Seek in a 30' cone aimed at the hound's last known location.
If he doesn't see it, he gazes into the northern alcove.
Seek with a 15' burst in the direct center of the northern alcove.
The Doctor then retrieves his PFS School Item Dust of Appearance and readies it in his free hand.
