Fafrd gets trampled while Maldlethu revels in the power of magic! His force-staff crits the flat-footed creature, probably inflating his sense of power even more.

Feiya avoids the worst of it while talking about the Kyra look-alike contest. Siddartha drops into stance, strides to the big dinosaur, and flurries it! He slashes the flat-footed beast in the throat on his first attempt, and catches it on the follow-through after his flurry. Crit, miss, hit.

Given she has the second lowest reflex after Seelah, Feiya would probably be who Seelah protects.

Reflex save, DC 25: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Retributive strike: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Slashing: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10

Seelah throws herself in front of Feiya, trying to keep the slightly-more-nimble-than-her,-but-less-nimble-than-everyone-else caster safe. The paladin then brings her sword up and tries to make the Steggy regret being charge-y.

She then strides up to the Steggy boy and tries to cut him down before he does something possibly worse and cuts at him.

Longsword strike: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 14 + 1 = 32

Longsword strike: 1d20 + 14 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 14 + 1 - 5 = 19

Before raising her shield and readying to lash out should the need arise again. "Not your time dino. Now go back to it, PLEASE!"

As you heal up you think about what you know about the hounds. GM rolled secret recall knowledge checks for you

As you heal up, another time rift opens up… you hear Feya's voice from earlier echo through the chamber. The random words give you a sinister sense of foreboding.

Feiya's Voice wrote:

"Time is on my side, yes it is..."

"Time is on my side, yes it is..."
"Time is on my side, yes it is..."
"Time is on my side, yes it is..."

It echoes again and again as you prepare for the next wave… you hear a distant hound bay…

Let's Pause here so Maldlethu can do his special prep. I think I know the answer, but while we wait let me know if you want to fight or do skill checks for this wave.

About this chamber:
The chamber has angled edges on the floor near the walls, and the pedestal in the middle, and the pillars where they meet the floor. The small chamber behind the area, with the pod, doesn't have any angles (nor does the pod).

Maldlethu takes a full minute to sprinkle holy water around the area, muttering things like "...show them the power of magic..." and "...they'll see - they'll all see..." under his breath. As he does, the water seems to evaporate into silvery steam that grows thicker and thicker until the entire room feels like a cold sauna. With a final incantation, the priest claps his hands together. The steam ignites, burning away in a flash of brilliant light! In its wake, the air gleams as if crystalized.

Casting sanctified ground (grey spread). All creatures in the area gain a +1 status bonus to AC, attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against the chosen creatures - aberrations in this case.

And either encounter option is fine by me. The spell lasts for 24 hours, so we could still get some use out of it even if it's not right away.

Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Maldlethu misremembers something he read a few hundred years ago, in a book about Leng. It said the Hounds of Tindalos are susceptible to mental effects!

His Daze spell opens a thread between their two minds; the ancient elf is flooded with alien visions of this room in four dimensions — the fourth being time. He sees the future and the past happening all at once, from the viewpoint of a totally alien and totally malicious mind. The connection lasts only a split second, but it's enough to burst some vessels in his brain.

He takes Mental, DC 20 basic Will save: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10 damage.

If Maldlethu crit fails the basic save:
Confused for 1 round.

You learned something: Mental effects against these creatures' otherworldly minds is a bad idea.

The hound is unaffected by the spell.
