Performance: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Practice makes perfect.

In the morning, she enters Kline's sparse living arrangement and makes mental notes of where he should add the throw pillows. He may be excellent with the sword but without the style, what's the point?

"Sounds like we're going to escort a potent artifact. My knowledge about Zura is... lacking but I agree with Madame Rosemont. A demonic vampire lord sounds like trouble."

"Good thing you chose the best people for the job!" Khiari grins.

Everyone is at full health again before the next mission.

“The item seems to have a minor negative effect on living creatures but, based upon both my research and the reports of the agents who encountered it previously, short-term exposure should have no significant consequences. If you ever have cause to believe that is not the case, abandon the item at once and return here.” Eando answers Fran.

He then describes what they are about to retrieve. "It’s a necklace stored in a wooden box. The necklace is silver and set with a single ruby. Based on its description and some of the details the other Pathfinders noted, I believe it is an item sacred to the demon lord Zura, the first vampire. There are legends tying the demon lord’s history to Azlant, and the presence of this item seems to lend credence to those tales."

GM Screen:
Stitch's Religion (T): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Stitch and Fran both know that Zura, the Vampire Queen, is the demon lord of blood, cannibalism, and vampires. According to legend, she is the reincarnated form of an Azlanti queen who indulged in blood rites and acts of cannibalism in a quest for eternal life. After death, she was reborn as a unique vampiric succubus who quickly ascended to the status of demon lord. Though many of her cults died out with the Azlanti empire, Zura is still worshipped by vampires and those aspiring to become vampires, particularly within Cheliax and Ustalav, as well as among the drow of the Darklands.

Bella's eyebrow twitches as she learns more about Zura. "A noble who believes in debauchery and abuse, but ignores death. What a mockery of the natural order!" She crosses her arms and taps her foot. "Our father reminded us every day to be thankful for all those we come across, who are willing to help."

She notices Khiari's annoyance and realizes she is acting unladylike. "My apologies for the outburst. But that kind of behavior is quite... repugnant." She huffs at her failure to find the correct word.

After they speak with Eando Kline and make themselves ready, they can easily make their way through the Oubliette (as the ruin is called) and into the area where the item is located, having been given instructions
on how to get there safely. Along the way, there are some signs of the previous Pathfinders’ mission here: the bodies of several destroyed skeletons and zombies, disturbed cobwebs and rubble, and occasional splashes of blood on the walls.

A broad stone stairway descends into the darkness to the west out of this low-ceilinged room. To the south is an archway carved with a rose motif. Beyond, the room opens into a chamber decorated with a hooded figure bearing a scythe, rendered as a protector — or warning — of what lies beyond. A single pedestal stands next to the northern wall. The relic awaits within a wooden box on the pedestal. There is no difficulty retrieving the item except...
