Khiari tries to distract White but hesitates and leaves herself wide open. She gets her act together and manages to slide between its legs. Unfortunately, she slips a bit on the damp floor and misses the devil.

Clover sends some needed healing to Bella before scaring the devil. For whatever reason, it takes what Clover said to heart and appears terrified.

This time Vardarel is somewhat ready for the shriek. The wings are a different matter, he moves away from the creature to avoid those.

He then decides to try and take the creature out by shooting it with a lance of holy power.

Stitch, Bella, Khiari and Professor Bun Bun shudder as the shriek pierces their ears. Meat manages to hold together. Clover and Vardarel manage to brave the sound.

Vardarel shoots White with some divine goodness and hits it right in the face. White lets out another scream (no damage this time!) and falls over, its face burned off.

Searching the bodies, you also find a small note, detailing the time and place of the meeting, signed by someone named Valgrothis.

Captain Chun and Lady Val Haltrax emerge from the chambers at the commotion.

"It appears I was right in choosing you as guards." Captain Chun says, before examining the hole and declaring that it 'should only last an hour'. She fetches a pair of brass stanchions will a velvet rope between them to cordon off the area.

While she’s busy setting up the ropes, completes her examination of the bodies and turns to you with a thin smile. "It’s so good that you were here to protect Lord Tevineg against these rogue agents."

You try to get more information from her but Captain Chun only makes some vague explanation about "Hell, and therefore Cheliax, are places where the ambitious must make daring choices to see upward movement" She then excuses herself as council servants remove the remains of the attackers.

After another approximately thirty minutes of waiting, the somewhat quiet is interrupted when a human dressed in black and red messenger’s livery suddenly appears in the middle of the antechamber. As you rush at him with weapons drawn, he suddenly raises his hands. "Wait! Wait!! I am Lady Xansippe’s personal servant, here on an important mission for her!! I need to get into that meeting so stay out of my way!!"

When the servant shows up, Vardarel scrutinizes him as he says “We were not informed to expect any messengers.”

Although you were not expecting messengers, Vardarel senses that the guy is legit. He sighs and says, "I am Tranio, Lady Xansippe's personal servant. I have to deliver this portrait to my Lady."

He sighs and gently pulls at the paper on the portrait, revealing the hideous caricature of Lord Gulv.

You have a decision to make as a group -- do you let this man complete his mission or help Lord Gulv save face :)

Bella picks up the silver dagger. "Excellent craftsmanship. I wonder who they stole it from. Hopefully not from an Azata." She grins at Khiari, who simply sticks out her tongue in response. "Does anyone mind if I hold onto this for now?"

She watches the crew clean up the mess and cover the portal to (probably) Hell with a simple curtain. "Home decor reigns supreme, as usual."

Khiari tries to smooth out her fur and clean as much of the gunk as she can. Stitch's healing gel still stings.

The attendant runs in and Bella notes his attire.

She inspects the picture with a mix of intrigue and artistry. "The nose is a bit big..."

Khiari pipes up. "Is that for the Lady? Go ahead, deliver it." She grins as she senses potential mischief right around the corner.
