sorry to keep ya'll waiting
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Bringing up the rear Zindarel casually, almost cat like, walks across the line while keeping her head on a swivel. having made it to the other side she smiles at Zakzak and says, "Looks like you were having a little trouble Zakzak. Are you ok?

![]() |
Zakzak puffs out his chest, "Me? Troublez? Nah. Juzt wanted to tezt the rope. Give good jiggle. Make zure it would hold ztrong for friend Zindarel. not want her to zplat on ground below."
Not going to even roll deception. It's pretty obvious to everyone he's lieing but trying to save face.

GM Tarthrin |

Zindarel waits to cross last, apparently so she can show off her amazing balance skills to the rest of the group.
***
Sturdy granite blocks anchor each corner of this brick-and-mortar building. Like the other buildings along this stretch of road, there are no windows on the ground floor. A stout stone chimney juts from the flat roof, providing ventilation for a large forge on the first floor and channeling heat through the upper apartment.
As Zakzak makes it to the balcony, the window slides open and a man beckons them through. "Quickly now, everyone in." He’s a tall, balding man with an ample belly and a thick, curling moustache that hasn’t yet succumbed to the encroaching gray already claiming the fringe of hair around his pate. This must be Rickard that Martelle mentioned. He stands by to quietly assist everyone as they get to the landing, extending a large and calloused hand to steady them as they pass through the window. He quickly shuts the window once everyone is inside.
“You lot must be making your way to the theater to see what this nightmare is all about, eh?” Stomping down the stairs to his shop, Rickard can be heard hushing a large dog with a muttered “Quiet, Rosie,” before rifling about and returning with an iron lockbox. An older woman follows him upstairs, presumably his wife Maggie. Pulling a matching iron key from a leather cord around his neck, Rickard quickly opens the box, revealing that it has been stuffed to the brim with pre-packaged ammo. “Take what you need, then. I’ve got more to spare, and anything that gets through the front door will have to deal with my cannon first!”
I'm ruling that basically, Rickard's offer means that you all have unlimited ammo the rest of the scenario since ammunition is listed as negligible bulk.
Anyone have any questions for them?

![]() |
By the time Rickard has returned, Zakzak has successfully stuffed all his pockets full of every last piece of cutlery in sight. Since the spoongun doesn't use rounds. This is essentially my in-character way of explaining having unlimited ammo per your post. He will then smile happily at Rickard and ask, "Do you know anything that might be the cauze of thiz? Or who we might azk? I don't think I normally zee dead-thingz here."

Booker Kaar- grimsnik |

Booker grabs as much ammo as he can. "We will see if we can find out more. Do you know if there are any other ways in other than through the front?"

GM Tarthrin |

Maggie replies, “Much as my husband might want a chance to show off his cannon, I’d prefer you didn’t try to go out through our front door. It does take a bit to reload and there’s an awful lot of those shamblers out there. Poor Rosie’s teeth aren’t what they used to be and I hate to think of her getting hurt protecting us. Now, mister and missus Scothwel planned to be at the first showing of the play; I’m afraid I might have seen Mr. Scothwel lumbering up the street chasing after some unfortunate people a few moments ago. That means there shouldn’t be anyone in their home. If you can shimmy out the window and into their house like you did ours, it’s a short hop across the street to the theater. If you’re quick, quiet, and lucky, you could probably scoot in there without attracting the attention of the undead gathered in the square.”
Rickard adds, "There also should be a side entrance near the theater house where all the supplies and costumes are stored, but that's clear on the other side of the square from our place here."
You can go across to the Scothwel house and then make a quick dash across to the front of the theater, or try to sneak around more. You could also figure a way to get to the theater warehouse on the east side of the theater and then get into the theater that way.

![]() |

Zindarel bows in a genuine expression of gratitude. Zakzak your hard work is appreciated as always.
Zindarel takes her fair share of ammo and begins limbering up for the upcoming activity. "I say we go to the Scothwel house and see if they have any other supplies we might find useful. Once we have checked it out we should sneak around the theater even more. The less contact with zombies the better."

![]() |
Zakzak will bow back to Zindarel, spilling some of his obtained cutlery onto the floor. Which once completed the bow, will quickly resume scooping ti back up and shoving deeper into his various pockets. "Yez. Iz good plan, Zindarel. Explore for more rezourcez, then zneaky zneak to theatre back door. Find cauze of dead thingz. Ztop cauze, then ztop dead thingz."

GM Tarthrin |

Similar game as last time. Everyone can choose to use acrobatics to walk across DC 19 or athletics to hang from the rope and climb along it DC 17. Presumably, since no one is home, the window is most likely locked.
Acrobatics
Grab an Edge at DC 19 to grab onto the rope and hang. If you succeed you can use athletics to try to climb the rest of the way.
Athletics
Maggie wishes you all luck as Rickard opens the window towards the Scothwel residence and cafe. "Good luck, try not to get hurt!"
Rickard adds "If you run into trouble, I don't suggest coming in through our front door if you don't want to catch a cannon blast, but good luck."

![]() |
Seeing Zindarel do it last time, Zakzak will attempt to balance along this time. After making a show of giving the line a few good tugs, to ensure it is sturdy and won't give way for his friends, Zakzak sets off.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
And manages to scamper over to the other window. Confirming it is locked, if it is, Zakzak will smile a all-too-goblin smile, and point his spoongun at the lock. "Open Zayz me!"
BOOM! goes the spoon gun, as he uses Blast Lock
Accuracy of the spoon: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Zakzak will then attempt to open the window, seeing if his shot was a success or not.

![]() |

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Reflex (Grab an edge): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Zindarel looks back to wave goodbye to Rickard and Maggie as she steps onto the line. Extremely confident she pays little attention as she begins crossing. As she goes to put her foot down the line is not there. She begins to fall and reaches out for the line but it is again not there. She wordlessly begins to fall in terror...
Aww geez I was to cocky! I was rolling really well and should have known I was due for some bad rolls.

![]() |
Zakzak, smiling proudly, looks back to wave at Zindarel, and immediately cries out in concern as their friend falls. "Zindarel! No!" He frantically looks around, then turns to Doc and Booker, "Run inzide! Downztairz! Open door to let uz in!". Then, before waiting for a response, will reload his gun, and intentionally jumps off the balcony after his friend.
cus "that's what heroes do"
He WILL try to grab onto parts of the building to reduce the falling damage if he can.
Reflex to reduce falling damage.: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

![]() |

thanks for the reminder I’ll definitely use it!
Grab an edge: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
As she begins to fall and panic grips her, Zindarel, quickly pushes the panic down and reaches out for the edge again. She's narrowly able to grip with her fingertips and hold on!
Athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Two 16s in a row, seriously!
Athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Holding on she takes a deep breath and steadies herself. Unable to get her momentum going it takes her a couple of times before she’s able to make her way across. She sees Zakzak as he readies himself to jump. ”NO ZAKZAK WAIT!
[ooc]Sorry to steal your hero moment[/occ]
As she makes it to the other side with the other she pats Zakzak on the back and says Sorry to worry you friend but thanks for being at the ready to save me. looking at the others she continues “Sorry to worry you all” feeling as embarrassed as Zakzak felt the first time

![]() |
Zakzak will be thrilled to see zindarel make it across afterall. "Zorry Zibdarel! I didn't tezt the line better for you. Not Zhown how thin thiz one iz! Do better next time, promize."
it's fine. I just could think of no other response from the "goblin hero" zakzak ;)

GM Tarthrin |

Zindarel misses her footing and falls her Mithral Tree happens to catch the line as she plummets. It takes her a couple of tries, but she manages to get her legs back over the line and shimmies over with the rest of the group, denying the poor zombies a snack.
A simple two-story building stands at the end of the street. While its first story is brick and mortar like the other buildings in the area, its second floor is made of expensive imported oak, dulled by age but still sturdy and possessed of a dull polish that indicates the owner must have taken great pride in caring for the precious material.
This building has been the business and home of the Scothwel family for many generations, though it’s now recently unoccupied. The last of the Scothwels were among the first victims of The First Sin of Pharasma, having just attended the opening performance. They closed down their cafe early in order to attend the play. Two sets of large bay windows look out over the street on the second floor, along with another bay window along the eastern wall and smaller windows to the north and west.
From the Scothwel residence, the you are about 20 feet away from the entrance of the Aldivur Company Theater House. The second‑floor windows provide a view of the occasional zombie wandering forth from the theater.
Zakzak earns himself a hero point anyway!

With a smile Zindarel gives Zakzak another bow. "No apologies necessary I'm the one who wasn't careful enough. No matter let us search this place maybe we will find pickles here."
Embarrassed but forging on Zindarel scans the house carefully.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Zakzak will beam at the clear limelight shown upon him... and then proceed to immediately rummage through the house for useful things.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

GM Tarthrin |

1d20 ⇒ 1
1d20 ⇒ 7
1d20 ⇒ 14
1d20 ⇒ 9
As Zakzak proceeds to empty out some bedside tables, he finds a false panel next to the Scothwel's bed. Inside appears to be a locked gun safe.
Moans and shambling can be heard out in the streets. Distant screams and gunshots make it apparent that the situation is still spreading.

![]() |
Zakzak will show the group what he found, before asking. "Anyone elze open? My way may not be good for what iz inzide" pointing to how he opened the window.

![]() |

I will not be much help unlocking this so I'll keep watch while you all figure out the safe.
Zindarel checks again making sure her gun is loaded while she patrols the rest of the house.

![]() |
I thought it strange zakzak had thieves tools. Would definitely give em to Doc for this module. Since, you know, zakzak just shoots things open.

GM Tarthrin |

While you wait for Doc to unlock the gun safe with a little more finesse. What is the next part of the plan? You can try to make a run for it to the theatre. You can try to sneak around. You can try to make a distraction in the square and make a run for it. You can also try to make it to the theatre warehouse. Lots of options and ways to manage it.

![]() |
I say sneak our way to the warehouse... Going in the front door of the theatre, where zombies are leaving from, seems a poor choice.

![]() |

I also think going to the warehouse is the best idea. Even with unlimited ammo we'd probably get overtaken going right through the front door and I'd hate to miss out on the possibility of more loot!

Doc Featherton, Nuoc proxy |

So sorry all. Completely spaced on this game the past day and a half. Don't hesitate to PM me or message on Discord (Meridian#7510) should it happen again.
Doc reluctantly takes Zakzak's set of thieves' tools he had carrying with them. She begins thumbing through each looking for what she believes to be the best pick for the job and smells something she can only describe as old pickle juice wafting off them. Wh....why... no. Not going to ask. Finding the correct one, she proceeded to pick the safe.
Thievery: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Will use my Hero Point if that's a fail. Or Zakzak can resort to projectile diplomacy.

GM Tarthrin |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Doc struggles to open the lock while trying not to touch- whatever that is- and sighs in frustration. Then she works her nerve up to do the job and pops the lock open! Just squeaked by
Inside the now-unlocked gun safe is:
- 3 labeled healing potions (lesser)
- a pouch containing a dozen cut garnets worth a total of 18 gp
- Mr. Scothwel’s prized possession, a +1 piercing wind

![]() |
Ironic.. .The Piercing Wind, as a combination weapon, COULD be drawn in melee form by Doc as part of the "draw one ranged and one melee weapon" action... But if she wants to use it as two guns, it'd still take another interact action to flip to ranged mode... And then can't be cus it needs a hand open to fire one handed as a gun XD

GM Tarthrin |

I don't think attached weapons can be "drawn" as a melee weapon. I Think you have to draw the weapon it's attached to.bayonets

![]() |

Zindarel makes her way back down just as the safe is opened.
"That should be helpful," Zindarel says seeing the contents of the safe. She walks over to the window and looks at the zombies streaming out the front door. She looks to see what the best route to the warehouse would be and turns to her companions, "Whenever everyone is ready let us try to make our way to the warehouse"

![]() |
I don't think attached weapons can be "drawn" as a melee weapon. I Think you have to draw the weapon it's attached to.bayonets
You are right on attached weapons. Combination weapons, however, of which the Piercing Wind is, are a single weapon with both melee and ranged grip, (like a bastard sword can be one handed or two handed). they Can even fire ranged as part of melee hit action. Further, if you want to go primary vs secondary mode. Co.bination weapons list their melee statistics, first.. Think classic fantasy trope Gunblade... cus gunblades are Combination weapons too... honestly, because of all the traits and damage die size, for a one handed gun. Piercing Wind is one of the best non-magical guns in the book

![]() |
only reason zakzak isn't taking it. Is cus we've seen that slashing damage is particularly effective at fighting zombies. So his main gun is the best choice there... the Piercing Wind is probably best for whoever is going to get stuck-in in melee most. Cus of its own slashing damage that way...
