Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

Hey guys
Sorry I have been MIA since the end of last week. Friday we found out that we lost a pregnancy. My wife wasn't too far along, but this is the second one this year and its really weighing heavy on the both of us. Tomorrow morning my wife has a D&C, and need to focus on her.
I have been wanting/trying to post more but my head/heart isn't in it. I am going to take a short leave and get past the Christmas season and make sure she is good to go moving forward.
I will be back before the new year, just need a week to focus on some real life stuff. I have been really enjoying this group and how you are all playing your characters in this AP. It has been a lot of fun, for me, since we started.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

Take all the time you need.

Wulfric Stonehelm |

I'm sorry for the extended silence- RL has been even more hectic than I anticipated. I'm over the hump now and hope to have posts up in all my games tomorrow, but certainly won't complain about Clint taking some time off. (My SO and I went through something similar, you have my sympathy.)

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

Hey thank you all for the kind words. My wife had her procedure yesterday, and everything went as planned. Rested up yesterday and felt great this morning. We are looking forward to getting away for a few days around Christmas. I am looking forward to coming back mentally refreshed. Thank you all again for hitting the pause button on the game.

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

I picked up Inscryption and Encased for myself. My SO picked up Cooking Simulator and Unpacking.

Erebus the Slip |

Restful holidays, all! My sister got me the game Worst Case Scenario and I proved that I know her husband better than she does (at least when it comes to ordering bizarre hypothetical situations).
Cheers, and please be as well as possible.

Wulfric Stonehelm |

Yes happy holidays, all. I've been on a big Axis and Allies kick and got some upgraded pieces for the Global 1940 version, and a rare edition of an older version with differently colored pieces (which I'd been looking for).

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

Darkest Dungeon is great. They're making a sequel now.

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

Hey @Bolkvar, if it's a stylistic preference towards the leather lamellar, Slip will happily take the chain shirt. There's currently no mechanical difference between them.
A quick accounting of armor as I understand it:
Blue: Armored Coat
Bolkvar: Lamellar (Leather), and possibly the armored kilt if Vex gives it up
Chatty: Leather
Doc: Leather
Rook: Chainshirt (from earlier), will probably take a shield
Slip: Chainshirt
Vex: Leather, Armored Kilt, and Buckler (all from earlier), but expressing interest in the Scale Mail And weapons:
Blue: Short sword, brass knuckles
Bolkvar: Improvised flail
Chatty: Rapier, sap, masterwork silver dagger
Doc: Dagger, dagger
Rook: Nothing yet, but I imagine he'll take the heavy mace
Slip: Light crossbow with 10 bolts, Sling
Vex: Longsword, dagger If I have that accounting correct, then everyone has (or will) select one piece of armor and one weapon (except Bolkvar who is allergic to traditional weapons).
Just wanted to make sure everyone had the piece of armor/shield and the weapon they wanted from Captain York. I don't think Rook selected anything yet. I could have missed it though. Just wanted to double check.

Looks good to me-- since nobody else does sound like they want to dibs on the scale mail, I'm happy to switch to that, and free up the kilt, etc.

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

Doc knows nothing useful, lol

Wulfric Stonehelm |

Sorry, I would like the heavy mace, yes. Thank you. Was there a light shield or buckler available? If so, I'll grab one of those for my armor piece, but I don't want a heavy shield because then I would have to screw around with dropping and retrieving my weapon to cast spells.

Erebus the Slip |

Was there a light shield or buckler available?
The shields available were:
1 heavy wooden shield, 1 light wooden shield, & 2 bucklersAnd no one took any of them, so you're welcome to any of them that you want.

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

I'm still missing my crafting alchemy kit and some misc gear but otherwise at start.

Wulfric Stonehelm |

Sorry, my rules-fu is rusty... if the spells are ones that I can cast (eg if Doc is right about them being divine spells and they're on my list) can I identify them just by reading them?

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

You need to decipher scrolls first, that is usually automatically accomplished by casting read magic, which no one currently has prepared. Otherwise you can decipher scrolls with spellcraft check, typically with a DC 20+spell level. I guess these scrolls are easier than normal?
Read magic is something I always have prepared if I'm able. But it is not an Alchemist extract.

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

Oh man, that's my bad. I was using the "Identify the properties of a magic item using Detect Magic" rules of Spellcraft. DC 15 + Caster Level. I just grouped them under the wand's DC which taking a second look should have been an 18... but no one got it anyway so we just move on. And I guess no one technically used Detect Magic. People can have a second chance tomorrow (in game) if you decide to take them with you.

Erebus the Slip |

I also almost always take read magic, especially on a spontaneous caster. Why I chose mending this time instead is currently a mystery.
An oracular mystery (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
I'll see myself out.
We might as well take them with us for now. Maybe one of the people back in the chapel can recognize them, if we want to risk bringing them to their attention. Risk = confiscation for the good of all.

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

Don't see our tokens on the new map, but Vex will move towards the closed door that is mentioned
Have added a new slide for where you currently are.
I think moving forward I am going to just use the overview map and reveal the rooms as you go into them unless there is a specific need to "put a map on the table." Like for combat or other encounters.

Erebus the Slip |

So I'm a bit confused. I thought that the room below had an incinerator, not really a boiler. The boiler is on the ground floor, right? I'm just trying to figure out the logic.

Erebus the Slip |

I read back. The word used was furnace, so yeah you're probably right that we need to go down to get the heat on.

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

It is very possible that there was a terminology slip up on my end. So in the basement where you all woke up was the furnace that would then heat the tanks above & send heat through the facility.
The furnace was in the same area as the first surgeon doppelgänger.
The tanks is where you ran into the dire rats and the strange looking rat like creature that crawled into the walls.

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

Don't worry I just called Chatty a fool for his fool's errand. No hard feelings lol.

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

Chatty goes off by his lonesome and dies as a horror descends from the sky and follows the smell of rotting meat.

Asrat |

The pile of bodies turns out to be a Corpse Orgy.

Bolkvar Stonebeam |

The pile of bodies turns out to be a Corpse Orgy.
Wow. A corpse orgy sounds terrifying. And I really didn't think that I'd be saying those words...

Erebus the Slip |

All I can think of is this, from Castlevania.
Or, from the recent series, which is basically a 20th level Enchanter vs a 20th level Conjurer/Transmuted. I don't know how to classify Isaac other than BAMF.

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

Can we not run the time out of my 10 minute buff immediately? Please?

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

Heightened awareness. I declared it a bit ago, but it was under the provision of when we left the chapel area.

Dr. Ethyl "Doc" Ermengarde |

We can easily do it on the way back.
@GM if the duration is less than 5 minutes I will trigger the initiative bonus for next combat.

Mr Clint's Strange Aeons |

So far it seems like the group is split on if they are going down? I am still waiting for that to kind of clear up. Angry is breaking up the table for the furnace below. Simple check that I will grant any of the players because it has already been kind of discussed, once the fire is started what will you use to keep it going? Who is going to man it?
If the group is heading down, let's make it happen. If the party is moving on, let's move on. If the party wants to split and some head down and some continue on, let's do that. I am good to run whatever the group decides.

Erebus the Slip |

I'd rather move along and take care of this later. It doesn't seem like a priority, but rather a relative downtime task after we have already used our daily resources and are looking to rest.

![]() |

I also OOCly vote for moving on. Nobody's going to freeze to death for lack of boiler/furnace in 10 minutes time, and breaking up the table for wood will also take time, plus a single table won't burn for long. Better to come back for it when we have a good bit of fuel.
