Welcome!

I know, I know. 8 people clearly isn't 4-5 people... But then again what good survival horror story doesn't have a large cast that dwindles down over time. That being said, it would be interesting if you all survived. Each of you bring fun skills, abilities, and flavor to what is going to happen. I look forward to getting to know you and your characters as we run through this AP.

A few things I want you to look at before we process:
- Starting wealth is class average, and make sure you have spent every last copper.
- Favorite Class Option: You get all 3 per level. 1 HP, 1 Skill & Racial Bonus.
- Make sure you have every skill/trait/feat chosen. Once we begin, they are set in stone.
- Roll me a % please.

Also, I had come across a good format for characters stat bar but I cannot find it. Does anyone have a link to a good one we could all use?

Female Daughter of Urgathoa Daughter of Urgathoa (8 levels)/Cleric 6/Hierophant 6

If you didn’t want to run with all 8, you could just split us up into two tables of 4. I’m running two WotR games, and it’s actually surprisingly nice to be able to use some of the same content for both tables.

Just a helpful suggestion, not saying you have to or anything of course.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Thanks for the invite.

I'm here. I'll tidy up the character sheet this weekend when I get time.

Maybe he's running 8 so he can slowly kill us off...

Percentage: 1d100 ⇒ 38

Wounds (1) HP (25) AC (17/12/15, +1 will rage) Saves (+6/+4/+2, +2 Fear/Emotion, +2 Hardy,) CMD (16, +1 v slow) Initiative (+2) Rage (4/7) Sanity Threshhold (26/28) Edge (14)

Whether 1 table or 2, thank you for running this! And slowly killing PCs off does mean for a real horror vibe…

1d100 ⇒ 11

Female Daughter of Urgathoa Daughter of Urgathoa (8 levels)/Cleric 6/Hierophant 6

Oh yeah, this.

Percentage: 1d100 ⇒ 48

HP: 26/26 | Perception +6 (deaf), Sense Motive +6 | Speed 20 ft | AC 21 Touch 12 Flat-Footed 20 | CMD 14 | Fort + 9, Reflex +8, Will +7 | Init -3 | O Sp (Lv1: 6/6), M Sp (Lv1: 2/2) | Active: None

Let's roll: 1d100 ⇒ 77

I will get this alias set up. I'm not decided on "the Slip" part. Lacking memories and all. But I have spent everything down to the last copper, my racial favored class bonus won't matter until Level 2, and if I have anything else to futz around with I'll make sure to do it (and run it by you) ASAP.

Huzzah! Although, "we'll start with 8" does sound fairly ominous...

I believe I have the 1st 3 things you asked for taken care of already, but I'll double check. As for the 4th... percent: 1d100 ⇒ 22

"Blue" | HP11/11|AC15(T11 FF14)|CMD15|F+3R+1W+5|Init+1|Per+8 Inquisitor(Royal Accuser) 1 | Sanity 35/36 |Threshold 3 | Edge 18

1d100 ⇒ 50

Super stoked to have been selected for this! I know that I was hesitant/wary When I first read the recruitment thread but My brain started churning out ideas for a character and I just had to submit so yeah I'm excited.

I'm pretty sure that I've gotten everything taken care of already but I will double check. I did update the stat block that's on this profile to reflect back correction with my zero level spells.

Yay! Thanks Mr Clint. I'm a big fan of over recruiting for games anyway.

I think I'm good on the requirements and here's the 1d100 ⇒ 64

As I said previously, I am not out to kill anyone off. Thinking about how this is going to unfold, I will say be resourceful and show ingenuity.

I am looking forward to this game. I am currently running a homebrew game that has story, but it is very sandbox in its nature. This is going to give me the fun of DMing, but with more structured start and end.

As far as a start goes I am going to have our first post up Sunday afternoon. That gives everyone ample time to double check all the details.

An ending... I know that APs take time, they take time when you are in person. PBP are even slower from what I've read. I think that if we all are committed to posting once a day we can have a very fruitful experience and have that satisfied yet longing for more feeling.

Guys, gals. Here's to the next X years. Let's get a little strange.

It might be good to get the gameplay thread up anyway, just so we can see the campaign in our list.

That would be helpful for me too, if it’s not too much trouble.

Interesting way to try and do it! I'll get alias/etc sorted at some point. but here's a d100.

Ans thanks for the invite!

I went ahead and made my first post. I couldn't wait.

I love that you included background music in the post! I let it play the whole time I read everyone else's posts and wrote mine and it set the mood perfectly.

Female Daughter of Urgathoa Daughter of Urgathoa (8 levels)/Cleric 6/Hierophant 6

Almost back at my pc, I’ll get a post up shortly! Sorry for the wait

I did not say this in the opening, but treat your current responses as if you are acting in an initiative order. Only go once until I respond to the scene.

Mission accomplished! I want to try to add outside elements like music, sounds, and images that help enhance the text.

No worries. It is the weekend so I know peoples family/work/sports/church/etc responsibilities are fuller than the weekdays. If people are able to post once a day on the weekend that is cool with me, but not expected. Just once on the weekend is needed.

Just wanted to say I'm enjoying everyone's posts so far. Everyone's displaying some great writing chops and people's characters feel rich and nuanced. Asrat has a great character voice, and Ethyl's decision to run the other way is a very revelatory character note too.

Hey guys, be sure to stick with the single round actions. Two went left one went right three stayed behind and we are waiting for one more post

Female Daughter of Urgathoa Daughter of Urgathoa (8 levels)/Cleric 6/Hierophant 6

Hey guys, sorry to leave so soon, but I think I just overcommitted. I don’t want to drag it out and end up not giving my all to this game, so I’m going to back out now and let you guys enjoy the game.

Thanks for the opportunity to build the character, I appreciate it! If there’s a way for you to remove me from seeing the game in my campaigns, I’d appreciate it, but if not that’s okay, I’ll just follow along.

Good luck everyone!

I am sorry to see you go. If you don't mind, I am going to bot your character through the remaining intro. I appreciate you stepping forward and backing out now instead of struggling in all of your games. Best of luck to you!

Female Daughter of Urgathoa Daughter of Urgathoa (8 levels)/Cleric 6/Hierophant 6

Feel free to! I don’t mean any offense to you, and I’m sure I would love playing in your game. You seem like an awesome GM, and I’ll keep my eye out for future stuff from you. My plate is just a bit full, and this game has plenty of wonderful players already!

I wish you guys the best! Don’t die, and all that.

Lol, remember what the guide said, "Trust your GM."

No it means you don't gain a madness, yes you could have just gained a phobia of blood or night terrors replaying these events over and over in your dreams. Whether you gain a lesser or greater madness depends if your total sanity damage is less than your sanity edge.

I think I had to read the sanity rules about 5 times before it clicked.

Thank you good Dr for sharing that reminder.

And for a reminder from the DM from the first posting. You don't recall your name. Some of you are using it, but you wouldn't remember what it is.

You don't want us to speak or think our names, or you don't want us as players to write our names in our posts at all at this point?

In almost a blink of an eye the season shifts. It's fall you think to yourself. No... it's just almost winter. What was I here for? Looking around you remember that you are in a market. It is a slow day in the market. Looking up you realize it is later in the day on this overcast day. You see many empty stalls that would typically hold the goods of merchants all over the region. The region! Where am I? you look around and you cannot ditch the feeling that you have been here before. Why can't I remember where I am? Come on T.... You hit another wall. What's my name? worry begins to trickle across your mind...

You can talk and interact, but you don't remember where you are, why you are here, or even remember your name.

Think of your actions in the sense of a round. 6 seconds.

Thanks. First time using sanity rules.

No problem. I'm just referring to my character's name for lack of better thing to call him.

GM:
So if I understand things correctly I now have a lesser madness (4 sanity damage and my threshhold is 2)-- I'm sure it won't matter until this scene resolves, however it does. So I'll wait til you tell me more about my repercussions!

There's a couple of ways to get a game to stop showing on your campaign page. The first is the GM can edit the campaign and deselect you as a player and your character.

The second is you can hide the gameplay thread. Find the thread here and to the right there's a null symbol near where it shows you who last posted and what time. Click the null symbol and it will hide the thread and thus the campaign.

I learned something new today. I did go ahead and deselect the Alias and the main profile.

Well that's unfortunate.

Sidenote, I will never roll that well again.

It appears everyone has made the sanity save, but everyone still takes 1 point of sanity damage. If you could add your Sanity Score/Threshold/Edge in your stat bar similar to Asrat that would be great. | Sanity 37/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

"Blue" | HP11/11|AC15(T11 FF14)|CMD15|F+3R+1W+5|Init+1|Per+8 Inquisitor(Royal Accuser) 1 | Sanity 35/36 |Threshold 3 | Edge 18

Done.

I should be set

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

So is your Edge half your max Sanity or half your current Sanity?

Asrat wrote:

Max. Your max can be reduced by taking ability damage (and presumably drain) to mental scores.

Just so everyone knows, you can feel free to read the other scenes that are going on. I am only doing the spoilers so that it keeps things simpler running the scenes.

This is quite horrifying and I am enjoying it terrifically despite being dead.

this opening scene was rather hard to run via PBP... I didn't want to rush it, but I also didn't want to take it too slow for the sake of Ryzel or those who died first....

Also, I feel like I need to take a break from Blacklist. There's some dark stuff there that I pulled from for this scene.

Erebus, I am glad you enjoyed it. Hope everyone else has also.
