Why is the first Ghost Touch rune 75 gp, and the latter ones 65 gp? Most likely you conflated them with the regular Striking runes, which are 65 gp as well, but just checking.

Putting my player hat on, you have three melee people. Kitting them all out with Ghost Touch seems pricey. Perhaps worth it, but it'll eat into your budget a lot, maybe you also want to buy other stuff. You're putting a lot of eggs in one basket here.
Personally, I'd give Kka one Ghost Touch, which means she can also Sneak Attack incorporeals. That's already a lot of damage. And then maybe a second one for Fuìn, who can make use of his reach to catch them while they're moving.

Also, seems like you have about a thousand gold. I like the approach of seeing what you want to have and buy as much as you can, but some characters might want to save up for a bigger item in the future. Isn't it more fair to give everyone 200 gp? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I see Kka wants like three Ghost Touch runes for herself, that's a lot.

Kvit, maybe wait with adding spells to your spellbook. You're gonna pick up the Wizards's spellbook soon, you can crib some spells from that as well. There might be some spicy stuff in there.

Lough, I had a realisation about your hands and shield. Earlier I said you need to keep track of whixh hand your shield is in, as it prevents you from using that hand's Strikes. But I realised that only matters for the slag claw, because that's literally at the end of your hand. Your entire other arm is silver, so even if that hand is occupied, you can still use your silver elbow to strike people. So from now on I'll say that if you have your shield in your mechanical arm, you can still use silver Strikes.

Very technically, an unarmed strike is with any body part, but since it's a claw, it makes sense that it isn't available when your hand is occupied. But that doesn't matter when your entire limb is silver.

I should mention that the wishlist I put up is just that, a wish list. I do not expect Kka to get everything on that list, far from it. I'll be happy if she ends up with the Shadow and Ghost Touch runes, but if that money is better spent elsewhere, then so be it. That's why we need to come up with wishlists so that we can properly prioritize which purchases will improve the group's overall probability of success in the adventure.

The nice thing is that once we have the +1 Striking runes and +1 Armor runes out of the way, we don't have to worry about fundamental weapon or armor runes until we hit Level 8. That means that we can spend more of the loot on the backliners and their wishes.

Whoops, yeah. My bad. The 3 Armor Potency (not Ghost Touch) runes on the purchase list should be 160gp each instead of the listed 65.

The bottom line is now:

I just figured that everyone would like to upgrade their AC now that we're at Level 5, but if the backliners would prefer that the 160gp be spent on something other than upgrading their armor, that's fine with me.

As I mentioned above, the list I posted is her wish list and I do not expect her to get any of it, though the first two items would be nice to have.

The last several times we've gone through this loot distribution and purchase decision cycle, we've generally been working on a consensus basis; everyone puts out their wishlists (in priority order) and we decide as a group what the best set of purchases are for the party as a whole (where "best" means maximizing the probability of success of the group as a whole).

We could certainly switch to a more individual basis. In which we sell everything and then divide the proceeds among the players to spend as they see fit. If there was something on the loot pile that a player wanted to get, then they could "buy" it back for 50% before it was officially sold. If that happened to be a rune of some sort, then the player would then also pay the transfer costs. If several players wanted one of those items (say a Ghost Touch rune), then we could have the GM roll to see who gets it.

Given this approach, the Stuff we're keeping list (bar icons) would move to the Equipment that we're cashing in at 50% list, and the Purchases list would be empty. Tweaking my spreadsheet to make this happen results in the following:

GRAND TOTAL = 1180.5 (A:544.5 + B:636 - C:0)

Dividing by 5 puts 236.1gp in each of our pockets. The Sturdy Shield, Ghost Touch rune, and +1 Armor Potency runes that were on the Stuff we're keeping list are now up for grabs by anyone on the Equipment that we're cashing in at 50% list.

I'm fine with this approach if that's what the rest of the group wants. The result is likely a less efficient use of resources and thus a reduction in the effectiveness of the group as a whole, but it's quite understandable if that's not everyone's priority.

I would give Haunt Lore the ability to disable haunts at the same DC as other skills. It would allow you to always participate in haunt disablings even if you lack the requested skills.

Also, if you don't boost STR now, you won't be able to upgrade it again (at least, not raise it to 20) before the end of the campaign. Just letting you know.

I'm going to take the day and night to think it over - I didn't see any other skills that "grabbed" me per se relative to filling party gaps, and we've had a few Hauntings, so, thought I'd take the opportunity to flex the story into his development while adding this tool to his tool kit...

My thinking is this: Master proficiency covers me offensively, and as Lough has prioritized both INT and CHA, he leaves his defenses lacking, so, I'm going to just leave ST at 18 and raise the floor of his defensive ability modifiers (CON and WIS) in tandem with his "fun" ability modifiers (INT and CHA).

And yeah, in the end it's only a +1, which the Fighter really covers well, so it's not like you're missing out enormously.

I made the choice not to optimize my ability scores at 1st level and I think it has bitten me in the butt a few times. It also means I won't have max Str/Dex at 20th but I don't think we're going that far anyway (unless people want to do Stolen Fate/Fist of the Ruby Phoenix after this, which I might be amenable to, but it's too far down the road to say for sure).

A full rundown of 5th level for Fuìn:

I believe we get to play our PCs at Level 10 for just the very last chapter. So the 20 (+5) will only be in effect for one chapter. In a way, you are sacrificing a +1 in some other ability score for 6 chapters just to get the +1 in your main ability score for 1 chapter.

I very nearly skipped pushing Kka's Dex to 19 because of this, but the only other options for where to put the boost were Str and Int, neither of which I associate with Kka, and which would do her very little good over those 6 chapters.

I'm currently working my way through Stolen Fate and so far it's been a lot of fun.

I don't think it matters much. The Studded Leather gives you a +2 to AC with a +3 Dex Cap, and the Leather gives you a +1 to AC with a Dex Cap of +4. Either way you will get a +5 to your AC

At this point I guess we need to take a vote between the Consensus approach we've been using and the Individual approach I outlined in an earlier post, or... some other approach if anyone has any input on the matter.

I nominate Kka as Treasurer, making most of the decisions for the group, as her player seems not only willing to do the work, but team oriented and amenable to input.

Happy with any of the other options too, even if consensus seems unrealistic in the PbP medium, and even if individual seems like effectively rounding off the remainder of a party resource over nickels and dimes!

Ouch, good luck with recovering. I got it twice. First time I slept 18 hours in one day, then it simply was a strong fever. Second time was a lot milder. Hope you recover quickly!

And yeah, your attack bonus probably shot up by 4, right? 1 from STR increase, 1 from regular level up, 2 from Master. That's a big jump. :P

Too bad about catching Covid. I got it last year; it took me out for about a day, with a couple of additional days of regular-flu-like symptoms before it was done with me. Luckily, I had two vaccinations in me at the time, or it could have been much worse.

Since I'm not getting a lot of feedback on loot distribution, I'm going to make a concrete proposal for how to spend the loot as a jumping off point for further discussion.

I will be starting from my original listing, to which I will add Kvit's Crafter's Eyepiece and Wand (L1): Magic Missile to the to-be-sold pile. This leaves us with 1073gp to spend.

Looking at the wishlists and Kvit's recent post, it seems that getting Armor Potency runes for Kka, Cherry, and Kvit is a priority, so we'll get those. Along with the 7.5gp Ghost Touch rune transfer cost, that takes us down to 585.5gp.

Lough's wishlist mentions a Spellguard Shield, but I'm not sure that the 200gp difference in cost vs that of the Sturdy Shield (Minor) is worth it (namely a +2 to AC vs spells, but with a reduced Hardness, HP and BT).

Fuìn has a Lifting Belt on his list, which makes sense. It probably also makes sense to get one for Lough, but he apparently doesn't feel the need for one right now (add it to your wishlist when you do).

Cherry's top priority is getting a Guardian Staff for 250gp and Kvit's top priority is a Staff of Evocation for 230gp. I'll add both of these to the list, but that pretty much burns through the rest of the money, leaving us with 25.5gp

Kka has a Shadow Rune for 55gp next on her list, but needs to come up with an additional 29.5gp to buy it. She has 17.3gp of her own, so needs a 12.2gp loan from someone to finalize the purchase. Let me know if anyone has that kind of money burning a hole in their pocket that they can lend her.

This is a Level 6 Item, so off the list for now anyway.

Going to use Level 5 to test the efficacy of a Sturdy Shield, and decide later if the extra HPs or extra +2 to (nearly) all saves is a better fit!

Is that a confirmation for Ghost Touching his handwraps?

Sorry, Cherry, but the Guardian Staff is Level 6 and will have to wait until we level up. You don't have to redo your spell list.

I'll rethink things a little when I get the chance. Looks like Kka will get her Shadow Rune after all.

Eh, I'm okay with the staves. They mostly free up some spell slots, that's fine.

I think the Sturdy Shield is the "default" for most people, as it allows for blocking throughout the entire combat. With the more fragile shields you have to stop blocking at some point, and that makes things interesting, IMHO. The remaster is going to have Sturdy-like runes, I've heard, so maybe at some point you can switch them out. :)

You have as much downtime as you want, but know that the Vaults won't be sitting still, either. At first there was a bit of a timer because of Gauntlight firing again soon, but you foiled that. Surely they won't have a backup? :-)

And yeah, I allowed the staves because the melee people got a lot of goodies last level (Striking runes!), it was time to give the casters some toys we well. :P

I just finished updating Kka's profile for the new stuff she bought. The Shadow rune on her leather armor gives her a +1 item bonus to her Stealth. It is now at +14, which means her Initiative is also at +14. Looking at the Initiatives template at the top of this page, it looks like they haven't been updated after our recent leveling-up.

Oh Fuin is a Master at Stealth now so he will also probably be doing Avoid Notice from now on. Lough and Cherry both have pretty solid Perception checks so I think we'll be okay. That means Fuin should have a +13 initiative. I'll edit my tagline to reflect his new Exploration default shortly.

At +13, he's only an expert like Kka (who is also at +13).

+4 for Expert
+4 for Dex
+5 for Level

Except that with her Shadow rune, Kka gets a +1 item bonus for +14.

I'm interested in retraining Kvit to use the eldritch researcher archetype.

If I use class feats, that means dropping the familiar master abilities (+2 familiar abilities). Which I haven't been utilizing much.

I could get "forbidding ward" as the initial Cantrip
Then I could drop Quick bomber and pick up Seeker of Truths and get the Scholarly Recollection. focus spell.

Strange Script Also seems like it could be useful.

Other then those, I don't think the rest of the archetype will prove to be that useful for kvit or this AP. What do you all think?

Sneakers won't be able to quip anything fun from now on if I do this!

Concerning the spellbook.
There is very little overlap between it and Kvit's book. A lot of good options there.

My question is, How can he use it? You can't just adopt a spellbook as your own, can you? I don't see anything like that in the rules.

It looks like I can Borrow a Spell that requires a check each day for each spell. Which could be doable. I have +11 Arcana and +12 Occultism.

The only other way I can see is using the Learn a Spell activity, but that's costs $$$ which I don't have.

Scholarly Recollection is an excellent spell, I have a PFS cleric who uses it. Especially good if you don’t already have a use for your reaction.

Never saw Borrow a Spell before. Neat! An excellent temporary solution.

I'm willing to give you the Speech ability for free if that's the sticking point. Sneakers is too fun to keep mute. :)

You can also Learn a spell, which allows you to copy it down permanently in your spellbook. It costs a bit of money, but you'll have that when you deal with Carman tomorrow.

Speaking of money, I thought Kka basically squeezed everyone dry for her Shadow rune. Where did Lough get the last few gold pieces from to copy the spells into his familiar?

Adventurer's Pack (1.50), Breastplate (8.00), Caltrops x3 (0.90), Ordinary Clothes (0.10), Spear (0.10), Steel Shield (2.00) = 12 gold, 6 silver spent, then from 15 starting gold, leaves us with 2 gold, 4 silver...

GM - I am seeing two Downtimes In Lough’s history - at the beginning when he critically failed, then again Here. But I think I remember the exact number of those days “counting” to be nebulous. Is it possible he has more pocket change from that time period?

OK apropos of nothing, I just got Rage of Elements and HOLY TOLEDO the kineticist is so cool!

I wrote up four different kineticist builds last night and stayed up until way way waaaay too late doing it lol.

Of the four I made, I think the earth/water tank/healer is my favorite. With free archetype, I'd probably grab champion dedication to get the reaction at 6th, add to the tankiness.

Some takeaways:

1. Metal Element is metal AF. A couple of the abilities gave me serious Hellraiser vibes.

2. Finally, elemental eidolons! YAY!

3. But no genie eidolons. Boo :(
(This may have something to do with how they're re-working genies to be more real-world lore accurate, I'm not sure.)

4. New options for elemental familiars, including a tiny raincloud that can express emotion through little faces in its little cloud and I WANT ONE

5. Jessica Redekop is an amazing writer. The Paizo Blog post about RoE is taken directly from the book's intro, which was written by her. I got to do a Monster Jam with her and some other freelancers a while back and it was a lot of fun. Jessica is crazy good at what she does, and is also good people!

6. This is the first book featuring the remaster changes and I gotta say, I dig them. My favorite is that "spell levels" are now "spell ranks" to help differentiate between spells and character levels, which is a HUGE help to new players.

7. The Kinetic Specialists sidebar made my eye start twitching. All of them have expected names ("pyrokinesis" for fire specialist, "hydrokinesis" for water specialist, "geokinesis" for earth, etc.) except metal, which is "metallokinesis." Not "ferrokinesis," which would have made way more sense and sounds so much better. Words cannot express how much I hate the word "metallokinesis." I know it's small and stupid to get hung up on, but I refuse to use it in my games. Any metal specialists will be ferrokineticists.

8. The picture of Aziza Amani al-Fasih, the jann "author" of the book (the entire first and last chapters are written in her voice) has her wearing a wide-brimmed sun hat and she just looks so freaking adorable. Also, my brain ended up reading those sections in the voice of Shoreh Aghdashloo and it was super relaxing.
