1) I am based in Southeast Asia (UTC +8) so my posting hours may be unusual (especially for those in North America). I usually update at least one or twice per day. Just to keep the game moving, please post at least once every day and at least once during the weekend. If you disappear for more than 24 hours, especially during combat, I will simply place your character on infinite delay just to keep things moving.

2) Please label all three of your actions. Even if you think what you are doing is obvious.

3) If I am unavailable for longer than 24 hours, I will let you know in the Discussion Tab. Out of respect for your fellow players and myself, I ask that you do the same. Real life happens, and real life will always take priority over the game, but out of fairness for your fellow players, please let us know if you will be unavailable for an extended period of time.

You arrive in Sauerton during the late morning, after a long trek north from the Andoran coast. You have traveled here on orders from Venture‑Captain Brackett;

The town of Sauerton is primarily comprised of row upon row of neatly kept vineyards, interspersed with old stone villas built in the Chelaxian style. Each plot of grapevines is accompanied by vats for crushing grapes and extruding their juice, along with a large warehouse for storing and aging the wine. The vineyards bustle with the busy hands of numerous workers, though the packed dirt and cobblestone roads have few other travelers during these industrious hours.

To my illustrious associates,
I hope this missive finds you in good health. Recent news from out of the River Kingdoms has made the Society aware of important histories that may have been resting directly under our noses for the past several centuries. One of the founding Pathfinders, a woman named Kerinha Napsunar, whose exploits in the Chronicles have often had curious gaps and omissions, appears to have once had a temporary lodge in or near what is today the town of Sauerton. I implore you to travel there and speak to the locals. See if you can track down any documents or records of Napsunar’s time in the area or the purpose of her lodge.

You should find an ally in Sauerton in the form of the town’s mayor, Thalia Andares. Several years ago, the Society assisted Thalia in navigating a difficult situation with her father, and she has remained a trusted and reliable ally ever since. Her knowledge of the town and its families should quicken your investigations immensely.

If you discover that the lodge still stands or any of its contents have been preserved, please do your best to obtain any documents or possessions of the Society that remain. Once you have obtained whatever evidence there is to obtain, please report back to me hear in Almas.

The townsfolk cheerfully direct you to a large villa they refer to as “the old Sauer estate”. The estate itself has clearly been rebuilt recently, and the vineyards around it are sparse and covered with fresh loam and soil.

"Hey there, strangers! The call comes from a human woman in her mid-thirties with long, dark hair and an open, friendly face. “You must be the Pathfinders Brackett told me to expect. I've done a little digging on your behalf but haven’t turned up much yet. Why don’t you all join me on the veranda for a glass of wine while we talk about your mission here?"

You are led to the veranda and Thalia pours you each a glass of wine. The wine is a sour red whose best quality seems to be that there’s a plentiful supply. Thalia takes a seat on a chaise lounge and asks "So, what can I do to assist you?"

Vanni shifts uncomfortably as they settle in place on the veranda, not much of a wine drinker he holds the wine glass delicately with thick fingers, looking and feeling out of his element.

"Hello, Mayor Andares. We have been dispatched by our Venture Captain to investigate Kerinha Napsunar and whether she had maintained a temporary lodge here in times long past. Any information and clues we could gain about that topic would be appreciated." Vanni is barely moving as he speaks, trying to present himself well, but largely seeming stiff and awkward.

Advanced alchemy: use 2 infused reagents to make 3 Alchemist's Fire and 3 Frost Vials

Scragatha (sounds similar to Agatha) is a short green-skinned goblin. She wears a hooded cloak and leather armor covered with various loops. The loops contain dozens of bottles and vials of various brightly-colored fluids. Some appear to be haphazardly stoppered and some of the bottles have hairline cracks in them.

She clambors up onto a chair and takes the offered glass of wine. She inspects it carefully, not out of suspicion, but of interest. "You know that wine has a few uses besides drinking it. It can be used as disinfectant or as part of a cleaning solution or to flavors certain foods." She pulls out a dropper and takes a sample then puts a drop in another vial of liquid. Swirling it gently she looks at the color change closely. "looks to be around 12% alcohol, a little more than average." Satisfied she puts her tools away and takes a drink of the wine. She swallows it with a slight frown. She leans closer to Vanni and whispers "Ah, well. Disinfectant it is then." Her wine glass is suddenly empty, but you are not sure if she drank it or if the contents disappeared into one of the many bottles on her person.

"Seems like your storage barrels are not sealed properly. It lets in malevolent wine spirits that like to cause the wine to become more vinegary."

Tightening the straps on his pack Gadicus makes his way through the streets slowly, his sights set on the Villa. He had faded away from the others when they entered the town, choosing to retire to a nearby water trough to wash the road from his hands and face. The life of a Pathfinder was exciting and life on the road was thrilling but he did not need to smell and look like he slept in the dirt, not when he was being entertained in a Villa.

Arriving to the veranda a beat after Vanni and Scrag had spoken, Gad clears his throat politely, before bowing to the Mayor. "Gadicus Aurelius Thorn at your service sir," He straightened, a warm smile crossing his face. "Forgive my late arrival, I felt it necessary to tidy myself before our meeting."

With his introduction complete Gad lay his pack and lute carefully by his chair before hopping up on to the seat and taking a sip of wine.

Physical Description
Gad wears his hair long, tied back in a ponytail to keep it from his eyes. He is dressed in black studded leather armor which has been dulled to allow him to move about better in the dark. Under his armor he is dressed in clean basic clothing, a white shirt of cotton over a pair of black hide trousers and a pair of knee length leather boots. Over all of this he wears a long black deep coweled travelling cloak. Gad wears two silver hoop earring in his left ear and a single silver stud in his left eyebrow.

Dinardin is a grim man in armor, carrying a halberd at his side. The simple tabard he wears over his armor displays the arms of now-lost Lastwall. He politely accepts the wine and sips at it without enthusiasm.

"Good Afternoon, Ma'am. I am Dinardin of Longshadow. We would be obliged if you could direct us either to Kerinha Napsunar's lodge or to some historian who might know more about it."

Sebastian is a towering man with a shy demeanor. He wears a simple breastplate over a tunic of a deep red trimmed in yellow, and dark functional pants. He carries a shield emblazoned with a spread palm indicating his religious ties.

Once there is a quiet moment in the conversation, he intones "I am Sebastian, and I hope we aren't imposing on your hospitality. We are indeed looking for any record of Nerinha's presence in this area."

Scragatha listens to Gadicus and his apologies before interjecting. "I love a man with good hygiene" Her eyes lit up and her eyebrows raised remembering something. She reaches a hand in one of her many pouches and pulled out a small vial with black powder in it. Sliding it across the table to Gadicus she says "Hey, this is what I'm calling dry soap. It's for your hair when you can't take a bath. And it's never been tested on animals!" She lowers her voice and says mostly to herself or at all really... Then she reaches in again and pulls out a wrapped stick and passes it over to Dinardin and mimes rubbing it under her armpits then clicks her tongue at him and gives him a wink.

Gadicus gave Scragatha a smile and bowed his head to her in thanks before flourishing his hand over the vial and making it disappear up his sleeve. "I thank you for thinking of me my dear, I shall certainly try this concoction when we retire to our rooms later." His gaze shifted from the young Goblin woman to the tall brooding twin shadows.

'So much muscle in this little group of ours, I won't even have to carry my own weight, they can easily do it for me!' He thought with a sly grin, taking another sip of wine.

Dinardin regards Scrag with an unreadable expression. His eyes seem like flat window panes, revealing nothing of what lies behind them. With a shrug he accepts the stick and stows it in his pack.

After exchanging small talk for a few minutes, Thalia addresses your question.

"Frankly, there's not terribly much I can tell you. The Strickmund winery was built long before I was born, but from what I was able to find in old records about Sauerton, the land the lodge was built on was bought by Ven Strickmund’s great-great-grandfather about 100 years
ago. Apparently Ven’s ancestor was a Pathfinder, so he might be able to tell you more. Be patient, though; Ven likes to talk and takes his time getting to the point. Particularly when he’s interrupted before he finishes his thought.

Ven is one of Sauerton’s oldest living residents, and a passable vintner.
If anyone in town can tell you anything about what the Pathfinders were doing on that land back when they still owned it, Ven will be the one.

Srag speaks up "Well it sounds like this Ven fellow is a decent lead. Besides his love of talking is there anything else we should know about him or what kind of cheese is his favorite? For bribing purposes."

"So what I am hearing is we go speak to Mister Strikmund, perhaps over a couple bottles of wine, and we should find what we are looking for. My thanks Mayor Andares, we appreciate the lead. Is there anything we can do for you or the town while we are present? Pathfinders are always here to help after all." He wastes a dazzling smile on the woman, before taking another sip of wine.

"Cheese is a perfect idea Scragetha," he smiled brightly, nodding enthusiastically. "Maybe a wheel of Chelaxian Blue? Or a nice nutty Sandpoint Stilton?" He frowned in thought for a moment before sighing,"Erastils Eyes if we could find some smoked Ustulavian sausage this would be a real party!"

"Is... is uh... cheese supposed to be part of what we got when we start the job? I only got given a pot of magical healing. Should I have brought cheese? Oh. I just didn't think of cheese, at all, as a thing I'd need. Sword, a shield, spellbook, armor. No cheese. Sorry all, I'm a bit green at all of this..." The big broad man shuffles his wide feet sheepishly, then runs his hands through his hair.

"Oh! Yes. Thank you Mayor Andares. Much appreciated."

He turns to the rest of the group, "So should we go to Mr. Strikmund now, or like, try and find a Chelaxian Blue?"

"No no Vanni my friend, no need to worry. Cheese is what we call in the adventuring business a luxury. We would use the cheese as part of a plan to sweeten the deal. Though I do find the idea of a sweet cheese to be absolutely appalling!" Gadicus winked at the man before downing the last drop of wine in his cup and beginning to pack up.

"If we had more time I would say find the cheese and the sausage but for now I think we should to our task at hand. We will speak with the man first and if he refuses to impart his knowledge well then we can grease that pig when we come to it!"

Scragatha chuckles at Vanni, "Don't worry about it, just remember to bring some next time." She jumps down from the chair, several bottles clinking together alarmingly loud.

"I agree with Gadicus, let's just try to sweet talk him first. Then we can grease him up if he turns out to be a squeaky wheel." She looks around at all the heavily armed men and Gadicus.

"Plus, I think there could be another way we could get him to cooperate if we need to try a less friendly method" She reaches up and squeezes Vanni's bicep. "I'm sure these are not just for show." She gives him a wink as she moves away.

While this conversation is happening, Sebastian is thinking, not only about cheese.

"If there aren't any records that we can sift through, I'm happy to continue on to meet with Ven."

Sebastian hefts his shield onto his back, drains what remains of his cup, and picks up his pack.

"I wouldn't say no to some cheese though." Sebastian pats his stomach.

Gadicus laughs, shaking his head slightly as he follows Scragetha out of the Villa. "Chat with the old man first, cheese, wine and grapes afterwards!"

A winery rests on the hilltop ahead, surrounded by fields with neatly ordered rows upon rows of grape vines and trellises. The winery is built of dark, well-polished wood, the steps leading to the front door grooved with the passage of many feet.

Ven Strickmund sits in an old wooden rocking chair in the shade provided by the covered deck that serves as the front porch of his winery. The old human man bears a long, gray beard, and his teeth are stained a light magenta color from years of “tasting” the wine he and his family produce. When he sees the PCs, Ven raises one hand in a vigorous wave and calls out to them.

"Well, ’ello there friends! Welcome t’ Sauerton! Thalia let me know ye were comin’. Grab a chair and sit a spell!"

Ven loves to talk and hates to get to the point. He starts talking to you about the weather, the most recent harvest, and the political savvy of politicians from across the Inner Sea. After meandering through his stories, Ven finally gets to matters of interest.

"Well, round ’bout a hunnerd years or so ago, my pappy’s pappy’s pappy’s pappy bought this here land from a feller from the Pathfinder Society. Got a great deal too, on account of how he was a Pathfinder hisself. My pappy’s pappy’s pappy’s pappy that is, of course the fella sellin’ the land was a Pathfinder as well. Anyways, this wasn’t a great place for a lodge at the time; too much a goin’ on, too many folks riled up about Pathfinders. Your group hasn’t always had the best reputation in all parts, though yer allus welcome ’round here. Where was I? Right, right, the old lodge. It was a big t’do at the time, on account of the money from the sale of this here estate being used to buy the deed to Diggen’s Rest, an ol’ keep ’bout a hunnerd miles east o’ here. Folks ’round these parts know the stories ’bout the battles and such fought ’round there back during the empire days, an’ suppose’dly there was e’en a ghost or some such. Pathfinders at the time figgered it was a proper place to move their books an’ such. Ghosts tend to keep the vis’ters away, y’know? Funny thing is, I don’t know as that Pathfinder ever came back through here. Maybe they’s still out at Diggen’s Rest, maybe they went somewhere else? Yer best bet’s probably to go look for yerself. I kin mark it on a map fer ya, or close ’nough, and I’m sure you can get supplies fer the hike here in town."

Ven has little more to share with you but he's happy to talk your ears off if you let him.

Scragatha waves enthusiastically back at Ven as she approaches. "Hello sir! And yes we are on official Pathfinder business. Thank you for meeting with us.

Scragatha sits nearby and to listen to the old man. She quickly gets bored though and starts fiddling with things in her pack until the mention of ghosts. She immediately perks up, listening intently. Once Ven finishes with the important part she quickly repacks her bag and jumps up. She seems to either have not heard the part about previous Pathfinders not returning or is unconcerned with it.

"Well sir that is very interesting information, we won't take up anymore of your time, and we've got books and ghosts to hunt. She practically bubbles with excitement as she starts sidling off the porch.

Vanni sits to listen to the old man, and feels much more at ease than he did tasting wine with the Mayor. The old man reminds of him of the many and varied old coots of his own youth.

He mostly quietly listens along, and nods. Happy to take part in the easy job of keeping an elder company, if just for a while.

Once the party has the information they need, and extricate themselves from Ven's tales, he becomes more serious again. Checking his equipment, and double checking the map which he attempts to commit to memory.

Ged smiles brightly at Harsk before nodding towards Dinardin and Sebastian, "We have a mailed fist of Iomedae and a dedicated of Irori in our party Harsk, we have our own ghost busting holy men." He salutes both men, hand over heart.

"Many many thanks for all the information dear sir and for the pleasant conversation but my friends are right, it is time we were away. Right then one and all, let us go see some ghosts and find some books. Marching orders I believe. Eyes sharp and blades sharper still!"

Only thing I'm missing is cheese. ;) Gad is ready to go!

"This seems a good a lead as any to follow through. An old keep is full of mystery, and I love a good mystery" Sebastian is as polite as he can be while also trying not to show too much overeagerness to enter an old castle.

Scragatha is super excited as they walk away from the villa. "Did you hear that?! A ghost! Now I can finally test out my new bomb! I'm calling it "ghost melter", assuming it works that is."

I put a scragatha at the front of the marching order since she is scouting but I'm not sure that is a requirement since the scout description mentions going ahead of and behind the party. She'd be safer more towards the middle of the group, but also she tends to be a little reckless.

Despite the elven communities and dangerous forest-dwelling predators that call the forest home, the route to Diggen’s Rest is strangely free of travelers and beasts. Gadicus, Sebastian and Dinardin feel increasingly uneasy the deeper they travel into the forest along the marked route, and the most sensitive among them begin to have nightmares of a blood-drenched battlefield and the screams of the dying.

After several days’ travel with these premonitions and feelings of dread, you come across an open clearing in the forest. Though the ground is covered with thick moss and tall grass, here and there the ancient hilt of a sword or rusted crown of a decayed helm remains unconquered by the vegetation.

The densely packed woodlands give way to a sprawling pasture. Rising out from the grass and moss covering the ground, the ancient, rusted hilts of old swords stand out in silent testament to some long-past conflict.

The warriors who died on this battlefield were slain during a battle that occurred as part of a failed attempt by local landowners and their allies to secede from the Chelaxian empire. As part of a show of force to suppress any further thoughts of secession from other citizens in the region, the Chelaxian forces in the area forbade anyone from burying the slain insurgents or performing any religious rites on the corpses. Over the many years since, the battlefield has become haunted, the skeletons of the slain animated by the lingering hatred and disquiet of the spirits.

As your group begins to cross the ancient battlefield a group of flaming skull skeletons rise up from the grass to attack those who disturbed their peace.

Vanni's eyes widen, his heart pounding as the horrifying perpetually-grinning skeletons drag themselves to a standing position. Tightening his grip on his blade, knuckles white, he rushes forward and slightly to the side. Muttering words of power as he goes, he reaches for the prepared lesser incantations stored in his mind during his morning rituals.

Indicating with two of the fingers holding his shield, his eyes flash blue, and a handful of tiny runes flicker into then out of existence around his wrists.

A rock lifts itself and hurtles towards a nearby skeleton, it's agreement with gravity temporarily re-written by Vanni's mental impulse.

Gadicus' face sets in a serious frown as he fans out to the side of his compatriots, moving towards the skeletons as he awakens the power within himself. His eyes begin to glow softly as he reaches out mentally, wrapping that power around a nearby rock before mirroring Vanni and sending it whistling towards an undeads head.

Scragatha suddenly becomes a lot less excited. Her large eyes grow wider and her mouth hangs open slightly as she hesitates. The reality of actually encountering the unsettling undead a lot different than talking about it. Seeing Vanni and Gadicus go into action she tries to shake it off and help out!

The canister of powdered salts sails through the air towards the mob of skeletons and hits one square in the ribcage. The mechanism inside the canister throwing salts over everything in the area.

Scragatha jumps up pumping her fist in the air. "Woo! Take that you bags of bones!"

Also, i know that the scout action gives +1 initiative, but I don't know if using that action means I have to be at the front of the group for the marching order.

another edit, I think I am technically just out of range for the first range increment, so my throw attack roll is at a -2 (for total of 14 to hit), they'll all take 1 positive splash damage either way.

It is the URL in Tigers opening combat post marked "Tactical Map". At speed 20 I don't think you can reach an "alive" skeleton as I think I just powdered the one in front of Vanni.

Gadicus runs forward and also picks up a rock with his mind and hurls it at Red Square. The rock easily clobbers the skeleton on the head, knocking it off, and causing the skeleton to collapse. Scargatha creates an alchemical bomb on the spot, runs up and throws it at Red Circle. Unfortunately, the skeleton is just out of range of the missile. It explodes and showers the skeletons with positive energy.

Pink Square charges forward. To everyone's horror, it removes its skull and throws it at Vanni. The skull flies forward and tries to bite him.

Seeing her new prototype canister not having nearly the effect she had hoped for Scragatha is both still visibly frightened of the skeletons and disappointed in her work. She says mostly to herself "Awh, that should have worked! Now what, they already look like they're on fire so a flaming nelly probably won't work. Ah, I know"

She inches closer and pulls out her old trusty standby, Ol'frosty burny.

Vanni continues his momentum around the skeletons, and the melee that has broken out in this once quiet, if not peaceful clearing.

Vanni begins to grin, a wild adrenaline fueled skull grin of his own. He feels it in his elbow before the blade hits, the stone moving to meet the same target as the blade in beautiful symmetry.

Scragatha mixes up two frost vials. She hurls one at Green, which shatters on the ground beside it. Though it does not directly connect, the tiny bit of cold is enough to cause Green to go rigid and crumble. Hurling the other at Blue, she connects dead center and explodes Blue into many tiny fragments. Harsk charges up to Pink and swings his axe. The axe connects and causes pink to shatter.
