Sen's zoomboard hums as she slowly floats on it through the corridors after Zetara and Locket.

Just posting to show I'm paying attention!


Peering through the door into the next room, Zharis, Sen, and Locket see the following:

A handful of empty server racks lie tangled in one corner
of this room. Three overturned filing cabinets take up the
opposite corner, their drawers hanging open like the slack
jaws of dead creatures. A single computer console stands
bolted to the floor in the center of the room, its screen
flickering.

Sen and Locket, I moved your tokens to be near this doorway. The rest of you may move as you wish.

She drifts her zoomboard over to the console and begins attempting to hack it, telepathically humming a sugar-pop tune.

Zetara enters the southern room (red) gingerly, testing to see if it stable and ready to jump back to the entrance.

If it seems stable, she approaches the flickering screen to see if she can make out anything or do anything worthwhile.

Gath follows behind the others. "Hey, is that another door?" The shobhad shuffles forward to check it out.

As Sen and Zetara begin attempting to punch in some commands on the terminal, there is a brief hum, the a loud cracking noise. As Sen and Zetara look up at each other, electricity arcs out of the terminal, hurting both of them.

electricity damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 4) = 15
DC 14 Reflex save for half. This affects both Sen and Zetara.

I did roll some perception checks to see if either of you may have spotted this, but your rolls were unsuccessful.

As the two of you attempt to get over any injuries you may have suffered here, you realize that this power surge burnt out the power supply on this terminal.

A spare battery and DC 14 engineering roll will get the terminal up and running for several minutes (only using one charge of the battery).

Janebok hobbles forward and rips two auxiliary cables from the terminal, bites off the insulation, and connects them to the battery.

Being ready for disaster, Zetara jumps back and is able to avoid some of the electricity that shoots out from the malfunctioning terminal. Still, she takes further damage. Health was still high, but her stamina readouts were at 50%. Fully functional, but a recharge was probably due relatively soon.

She watches Janebok expertly repair the console, and since it looks like she and Sen have the situation well in hand, she wanders back to the other room to take a closer look.

She examines the outer room, and if she doesn't see anything interesting and she is not attacked, she proceeds to the back to look into the side chambers.

She is looking with her darkvision only for now. Depending on what she sees, she might go farther and introduce light into the equation.

Sen's finely-honed reflexes and instincts kick in and she flips her zoomboard back in a Tail Clutch Planker that keeps her from receiving too serious a shock.

"That was a close one!" she exclaims. "You okay, Z?"

She watches as Janebok gets the terminal back up and running again.

"Better get this brain-box's secrets fast, chek-check? Don't know how much time we got before we fry it for good."

She goes back and checks to see if it's locked.

Did my previous Computer check do anything, even if it didn't disable the trap?

Sen and Zetara are able to download a bit of data after connecting a battery to console.

Most of the console’s data is corrupt, though you can see the names of missing servers (“Aballon,” “Castrovel,” “Absalom,” etc.). These servers are gone and can’t be accessed. Instead, you find a message in the console’s only data module that reads, “To Dr. Vari-8, please transfer your experiment results to the servers at your earliest convenience.
They aren’t doing anyone any good sitting on your personal computer. Thank you! —Dr. Cwynie.”

DC 18 engineering or physical science check:
You are able to determine what caused the power
build up in the conduit. Perhaps this will come in handy later.

"Dr. VARI-8?!" She exclaims. Then she turns back and looks at Vari-13. "Is this, like, your great-great-gramma or something? I know technically androids don't spawn like us organics, you do that 'rejuv' thingy, but! Is that why you were lookin' for this wreck in the first place? To learn more about where ya came from?"

Regardless of Vari-13's answer, Sen also takes a closer look at the module to see what caused that surge.

I believe Vari-13 remained with the goblin and ikeshti for now. They CAN be contacted via comm device though! I'll assume that's how this interaction went.

Vari-13 is excited about these initial findings. "Yes, Vari-8 is one of my progenitors and was an engineer aboard this ship! I am most appreciative for the confirmation you have provided to me for their presence here. I do hope there is more information to be found. Please keep me informed."

Gath is able to muscle open the outer door to the north. It reveals a small vestibule. The door beyond is locked tightly.

"Chek-chek, V-13!" Sen chirps into the comm. Then she looks to the others. "Next verse same as the first, big guy?" she asks as she floats her zoomboard after Gath.


I just want to get everyone on the same page here. Gath has opened a door to the north, and it has revealed a vestibule with more doors beyond. There is also the room to the east--I believe someone may have at least peaked in the room, and it appeared to be some sort of library or reading room. Let me know where everyone would like to head.

Zetara investigates another room, and sees the following when the door to the chamber is pushed open:

The two far doors off this chamber are UNNATURALLY dark. As Zetara approaches, the temperature suddenly drops and two horrific figures appear, coming THROUGH the walls.

Their malevolence is evident, and they mean to rip the android apart with their elongated, grotesque claws.

Zetara is just able to plea for help over comms before they attack!

I have placed a picture on the map slide of these sinister foes. I was going to do a surprise round, but initiative handled it nicely for me, so I won't worry about that. They come through the walls or floor and attack!

Zetara thought she was just doing some last minute checking for anything else valuable, but unfortunately she didn't take appropriate precautions since upon entering the first time, nothing had attacked her.

When the dark ghost things showed up, she was caught off guard, and one of them slashed her quite well, lowering her functional readiness state to less than 50%, which combined with the new damage in turn caused a glitch in her logic circuit.

Confusion result: Deal 1d8 + Str modifier damage to self with item in hand. Guess we'll say my tactical dueling sword was in my hand?

She suddenly swung her sword wide, but carried the swing too far, taking a chunk out of her own shoulder after passing through nothing.

(Deducted 9 SP and 1 HP for the attack, and 3 HP for the self-harm.)

Wait a sec, I forgot about my new ghost killer swoop hammer!

"Wait a minute..." Uchurtai studies his new hammer before the magical property clicks in his head. He gives a toothy grin, "Oh yeah. Let's crack some incorporeal skulls."

With that he charges towards the figure that had attacked Zetara. As he does so, a ghostly cackling skull appears on the head of the hammer, bringing it home with brutal force.

Locket hits one of the undead with his magically-infused pistol. It seems to get the attention of the undead, but it doesn't do much damage.

I've got nothing that will help much against incorporeal creatures. Got to get some hardlight handwraps someday. I'll come provide healing support.

Gath wheels and hurries toward the sound of the fight. He squeezes through the door and then between the consoles beside Sen. He raises his rifle to his shoulder and fires.

I think I still had some damage left over from getting shot while shutting down the turret gun or whatever earlier, which is why my tag line says I'm at -22 rather than -13, but could be wrong.

Just looked back over all my posts since the race. Gath at least, spent an RP to recover stamina around mid-December. Otherwise full stats right now. That means I've got healing options if someone needs them.

Sen's mind reacts to the scrambling with poise and grace.

"HEY, BIKERBOY! DUCK!" she telepathically calls as she spins her zoomboard to blaze the driftdead and NOT Uchurtai.

The blast goes over Uchurtai's head harmlessly, really only warming him a bit.

GMQ, a while back I rolled 15 on a mysticism check to ID these things. What'd I get?

will save v Dc 11: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 65

"Zetara! What are you doing? I'll stop you!" Gath swings his rifle toward the android, snags it on one of his lower hand and pivots the rifle butt into his own face.

self-inflicted damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

1–25 Act normally.
26–50 Do nothing but babble incoherently.
51–75 Deal 1d8 + Str modifier damage to self with item in hand.

So, so sorry for my massive distraction and absence.

Knowing nothing of the mystic arts, Janebok rushes to help and queries "What does that mean? How do we harm them?" She moves to help and fires her needler rifle.

Unfortuntely, I don't think Janebok even knows the import of incorporeal.

Attack roll to see if she even learns of their immunity: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17


Gath, you learn that these incorporeal undead are called Driftdead, but you don't know much else.

The remaining undead realizes that Uchurtai poses the greatest risk to it, so it continues to attack the shobhad.

to hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
damage, S: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

I'll assume Janebok's learning something about incorporeal and mundane damage from watching all this...

Seeing that her mundane kinetic attack is ineffectual, Janebok switches to energy and shoots a minor jolt of lightning at the creature.

Electricity: 1d3 ⇒ 1


Uchurtai ends the final undead with another smash from his new hammer.

The undead's face slowly mutates into a more natural face, but full of pain and horror. Thankfully, it fades away until there is nothing left.

The two back reading rooms brighten gently, allowing you to see moldering, broken furniture and a few small shelves.
