Same - what is happening with the people affected by the channel, if any, GM? If e.g. some of the cultists came up fighting, Verene would delay ending the web until they were subdued; if no one came around, she could end the web now.

Uh, I'd say that there're probably a few cultists who survived. Elliot really butchered the ones he hit.

EDIT: In case you were wondering, I don't like the Hellknights. They just... ugh. So, expect these folks to be portrayed with that in mind.

I wouldn't worry that anyone will think you need to be narratively nicer to the Hellknights, GM. Generally, I believe it's fine and even interesting for there to be NPCs who are diametrically opposed to the PCs in some ways but are still on the same side and working toward (some of) the same goals. They don't have to be caricatures, even if they are unsympathetic or are Evil aligned, if they have people and things they care about, and reasons for their behavior. And just in the short interaction we've had with Gaz, that seems to be true of him.

Azira, good memory on the whispering wind. I did look at it, but that spell seems like a less reliable choice for our purposes than sending Thamyris. It delivers the message to a place, not a person, and speaks the maximum-25-word message one time, whether or not anyone is around to hear it. It doesn't seem like we would have any way of making sure it contacted a specific person even if we sent it to whatever room Irabeth is using as an office. If no one comes, we won't know if the spell failed, no one was in that room at that time, someone was there but it was the wrong person who didn't pass the message on, or what's going on.

Meanwhile, because she can make him invisible and she thinks there are no quasits around, Verene is comfortable sending Thamyris this distance at this time, and she will be able to keep in contact with him via their empathic bond, so she will know at least if he succeeds or fails, if something goes wrong, etc.

For the sake of keeping things moving, Tharymis was already sent back to the Heart I believe, so I suggest we stick with that plan for now over still doing it ourselves? Also, @GM Can the citizens tell us anything of more nearby survivors before we go?

@GM Could I ask how far away Elliot's home was before it was destroyed? He would like to visit the site to see if anything could be found. Or to poke his memory perhaps.

Hey everyone, wanted to give a heads-up that there is a major work deadline I have to meet in about five weeks from now. As such I might be less active than usual. I will try to post when I can, but might not make daily posts for the near future. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the heads-up, Elliot, and best of luck with the deadline!

P.S. I love Wild Arcana so much. I never want to be without it again. Being able to cast random utility spells that you didn't know you would need in the morning, as a wizard, is just so cool. And if ears of the city doesn't work, there's always blood biography, though it is a bit more macabre.

As someone who moved from California near the coast to Colorado, Merixia is 100% RIGHT about fish! Proper fish live in saltwater. Freshwater fish should be left for the wildlife. Blech. Unless you've been hiking all day, at which point any kind of food tastes like the ambrosia of the gods.

@Merixia I'll take your word for the former; I'm not a big fan of fish meat in general despite coming from a family of fisherman. I guess I am a rebel of sorts :) The hiking bit though, amen to that. I remember going on like a six hour mountain hiking trail on the island of Tenerife once and ending up in a 'village' of like five buildings at the very end. The basic vegetalble soup and boiled potatoes there tasted divine!

About the bag of holding type III, paying for the crafting cost (3700 gp) out of party gold before the next time we split money would be fine with me. I believe it would take Verene 4 days of devoting 8 hours of work to it each day, and a DC 24 Spellcraft check that she can simply take 10 on, once we have sold some items and have the necessary gold in the party kitty. (Base DC is 5 + 9 [item CL] + 5 [double crafting speed] + 5 [no access to the 5th-level spell secret chest].) Until the Queen and the army get here, I believe our only extradimensional storage option available for purchase is a handy haversack.

Unfortunately, Verene only got the necessary feat yesterday in-game, and we haven't had a free day since then for her to work on any magic items. Although I thought at first that today would be a downtime day, it has turned out to be more of an adventuring day. Which is fine: we still have people to save, and that takes priority.

Elliot will try and be there for his sister when they return. Once she's calmed down and settled in, he asks her where she lost sight of their father as they fled. He would then join the scouting or cleanup crews operating in that general area to search it for him. If he hasn't been found by the end of the week, and it seems the city is safe, he would proceed to bury his mother's remains, her preserved arm in this case, alongside his siter and whomever would want to accompany them.

Other than this, he alters his time helping out securing/repairing/cleaning up the Blackwing Library, his once sort of home, checking up on his teacher periodically, and focuses on training his martial skills through sparring with whomever was willing. He probably approaches Azira to try and learn from her fighting style, as hers was the closest one to his own. And he can eventually a magus spells that mimics her parry ability, which he's gotta learn somewhere! .

Once it becomes apparent that the serious fighting is definitively over, he asks Merixia if she could try healing part of Lyra's scars with lesser restoration which if given helps to a certain extent, as stated earlier .

Lastly, he would try and talk to some of the prisoners the group took, like the Tiefling woman that actually surrendered at the fight near the hellknights, in an effort to try and understand what had led to them giving their lives to cultism and evil gods, and trying to determine if there was actual remorse among any of them. (And, while being there, stopping overzealous Hellknights from killing all said prisoners).

Aside from these activities, he is there for his friends, offering help or just a friendly face to talk to whenever he can. He doesn't push the romance along in a meaningful way in this time as there is just too much to do... and he just has no real idea how to proceed either. Bookworm life, you know how it is :) Though, he did have a lot of time to gather ideas...

For general, bts activities, Azira will help tend to Korryn (assuming she has survived) and use her healing to help with the wounded, she’ll participate in patrols, and she’ll do whatever she can to teach people swordplay and the tenets of the Inheritor; and sometimes she’ll dance to help keep morale up (her own as much as anyone else’s).

The big specific thing though is that I need to have a funeral for my mom. I’ll probably do them for Sorica and Jin Mai too (and maybe Timon, depending on what Korryn says), but the one for my mom is extra significant because (aside from all the emotions) it sets the stage for my cohort’s arrival. I don’t know how much of that you want ‘on camera’ though? If anyone cares enough to read it, I could post a synapsis of the service in a spoiler, or it can be completely off-camera? I probably won’t post RP between me and the cohort though, I can just do a quick intro post for the other players before we officially start book 2 (unless someone really wants to see how he joins up, lol).

Thesius is still interested in funding a bag of holding if Verene will make the bag.

Thesius otherwise will do his best to help where possible through the use of his skills and spells.

He'll continue to find the time for his dance to Desna as he continues to try to further investigate the bond.

I will definitely read anything you would like to write about the funeral(s) or arrival of your cohort, Azira. And of course, any flavorful descriptions of others' activities during this period too. :)

Verene will largely be busy with crafting during this time, but she can only do it for so long (8 hours) each day, so will have some free time as well. The number of days of downtime we have is fairly significant to what she can accomplish, so I will wait on specifics for the crafting/wand recharging/spell copying until we have more information on that. She will definitely make time to go to the funerals/services of Elliot's parents and Azira's mom/friends. She will check every day for news of her 3 remaining important NPCs, and socialize with the rest of the party and at least a bit with each group of survivors we have met so far, plus the First Children. She would also like to accompany Elliot at least once in speaking to the captured cultists, especially the man who actually said the words "I surrender." (The only enemy we've ever encountered who genuinely did! All the others we successfully captured — Faxon and his two underlings, as well as the tiefling woman who was attacking the Order of the Pyre armigers — were taken prisoner against their will by being knocked out and restrained, then brought back around.)

I feel like we're definitely decided on paying to craft a bag of holding III as a group, right? In that case, the basic number everyone is working with for this split is 3449.9 gp, not the 4121.4 I estimated before. Feel free to check my math, as I am a bit tired.

Math for that - things that are 50% sale price have already been halved:

And the priority items for crafting each person has declared interest in so far are:
Elliot - +1 amulet of natural armor, the upgrade for his Cloak of resistance to +2, L1 Pearl of Power (3000 gp cost to craft total / 3-4 days)
Azira - +2 Dex belt, +2 Cha headband (4000 gp cost to craft total / 4 days)
Thesius - Eyes of the Eagle, Handy Haversack(? - Do you still want to split and share this with Verene if we're doing the BoH Type III as a party? I'm still down to do it if you are.) (1750 gp your cost to craft total / 2-3 days)
Merixia - +2 Str belt, L1 Pearl of Power(?) (2500 gp cost to craft total / 2-3 days)

If any of this has changed just let me know. With the time we get, I will prioritize doing the first item for each person before moving on to the second item for each person, etc. The Bag of Holding will take 4 days by itself. The estimates are inexact because I think I can use the time cleverly and save a few days here and there by combining half a day of work on a more-expensive item with a half day of work that will allow me to complete a full less-expensive item. This allows the most efficiency while following the "no more than one magic item may ever be completed per day, no matter the amount of time it technically takes to craft" rule.

@Verene are we counting in the sale value of a fully charged wand of daylight, if that is sellable? As between both Verene and Elliot and a week of downtime they should be able to get it back up to full.

Also, i think i will instead opt for a +2 dex belt and an amulet of natural armor +1, if that is all right with you.

Sure thing, Elliot. And no, I was not counting the daylight wand yet, before knowing how many days we have to restore charges. But you're right that it's probably safe to assume we can sell it from full. With average rolls and both of us working on it, it should only take a couple of days to fully refill. Assuming we can sell it to the Abadarans at half price for no trouble, that's another 5625 gp ÷ 5 = 1125 gp per person to add to your totals.

Cool. That'd be enough to get the +2 cloak of resistance as well as well as the belt and amulet (4500). Perhaps in that case I should start with the belt and the +2 cloak (3500). It's functionally superior over the amulet of natural armor. If we have days left to craft it, the amulet'd be nice to have but it is more of a luxury upgrade than the other two are.

Depending on when you want the funds, you will have 13 days before the Queen and her army arrive.

With the arrival of the army, the base value for Kenabres is 4400 gp, and the purchase limit has shot up to 10,000 gp.

The spoiler in Verene's last post is basically a longer summary giving the items made in the 12 days she had available for crafting:

Elliot's belt of incredible dexterity +2, -2000 gp to Elliot.

Azira's belt of incredible dexterity +2, -2000 gp to Azira.

Thesius's eyes of the eagle, -1250 gp to Thesius.

Merixia's belt of giant strength +2 and 1st-level pearl of power, -2500 gp to Merixia.

The group's bag of holding type III, 3700 gp gold cost already subtracted from party gold before split.

Merixia's pearl of power was the only thing that could be crafted in a single 4-hour block of time, and that was all I had left over after creating the first item on everyone's list plus the bag of holding. She'll keep working on the other items as we move along the timeframe in-game. I'll update Verene's profile to reflect new spells and money total, and the treasure list spreadsheet to reflect items sold, sometime later today.
