Shaking his head, Elek looked one last time at Milksop's body. Not sure which irritated him more, that the man didn't have enough sense to stop lying or he didn't have enough sense to be a little afraid. Turning towards Breaker he nodded, "Let's go, once we get near the door I will teleport us out."

Walking down the steps into the water, he swam with Breaker toward the exit. Touching his friend on the shoulder the told him, "Stop here, I'll use the ring." Using the ring of the Sea Strider he teleported himself and Breaker up and away from the temple. Taking a moment to make sure the gig was the only vessle in the area.

Taking 10(27) on perception, Assuming there are no other boats in the vicinity
Swimming up to the gig and climbing into the hull, Elek takes his spot at the rudder. As Breaker and Owlbear find their spots at the oars, he calls on a strong wind to push them home. Once the arrive back at the Isle of Empty Eyes, Elek docks the gig at the new dock. Telling Owlbear to let Ambrose know their back, he dismisses Breaker to his other responsibilities. Taking a moment to find Iryani he pulls the 'Ring of the Iron Skull' skull out of his pocket, handing it to her. "I figure we may need to deal with the dead in the future. I figure you should hold on to this."

Taking his leave of the witch, Elek heads to the Tavern and finds Jack, pulling the boy to the side, he ask. "Mr Skrimshaw, what do you think of the idea of learning how to make maps?"

Still curious if Jack could remain part of the crew while he learns this or if he would be gone

After speaking with Jack, Elek took a moment and ate a bit. Then finding his way to the tower and walking the edge of the walls, watching the sun set. Remembering he had the 'cloak' in his possession he heads to the bay to enjoy the feeling of the wild animal moving through the water. Ending up at Sarafina's grotto, he did not tell her what he'd done that day. Instead he kept asking her questions about her day, finding the things she found interesting charming. As the evening wained, he headed back to the 'Revenge' and slept.

Anything need to happen before we move on?

Jack wouldn't mind learning how to make maps. He's been spending a lot of time watching Ellarian work and finds it quite interesting. It would be an apprenticeship-type situation, so Jack would be gone until he's completed his learning.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's nothing else scheduled until your party, so we can skip ahead to then if you're ready. If there was anything else you wanted to do beforehand, now would be a good time.

Retired to SUMITHA

Pleased that Jack had accepted Ellarian's apprenticeship, Elek nodded. "When we send a ship for the 'entertainment from 'Quent' you will travel with Ellarian to learn his craft." Pausing for a moment Elek remembered when he first met Jack. He knew the boy had been pressganged as well and really didn't know if Jack wanted to be a pirate. Learning map making from Ellarian would give Jack a choice as to what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Smilng at his friend he gestures towards the bay. "Once you done with your training, you'll have a place here if you want it." His smiles wains a little, "But if not, I understand. This life isn't for everyone."

So where to from here?

Jack smiles. "Thanks, Captain Elek!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The remainder of the time before the party passes quickly. With the help of your fleet (and their crews), both the fort and docks are completely repaired well before the deadline. Once that's done, you set about acquiring furnishings and making the buildings not just livable, but comfortable. After that, it's time to prepare for the arrival of your guests. Your staff is comfortable with their assigned roles, and you brought the troupe of performers back a couple days early. They've had several rehearsals, and from the glimpses you've seen, it should be quite the memorable performance. All that's left now is to wait for your guests....

Throughout the day, ships arrive with your guests. Each is accompanied with a small retinue of guards, as befits their station. Clearly, everyone wants to impress the others with their power and influence. The last ships to arrive are those of the Pirate Council. In addition to Tessa and Maxevale Janis, there's the Blood Moon (Avimar Sorrinash, lord of Ollo), the Come What May (Lady Cerise Bloodmourn), and the Wavecrest (Captain Mase Darimar). (these three are pictured in the usual spot, from left to right)

When the Pirate Lords come ashore, they greet you as amiably as any meeting between pirates allows. Lady Bloodmourn hails you with a flourish, while Avimar Sorrinash gruffly acknowledges you. Captain Darimar merely gives you a slight nod, preferring to focus more on looking over your docks and shoreline.

Retired to SUMITHA

May I assume that everyone mentioned in the discussion thread also made it to the party?

Having put on his finest clothes: the blue double breasted dress coat trimmed in black, Black thigh-high leather boots and a black tri cornered hat with blue lace. Elek also wore his ghost touched estoc in its scabbard and the cursed prosthetic in the form of the cold iron harpoon hand. As each ship would arrive, Rakkaw would send a runner to let him know who to expect. So that Elek could be at the docks and greet each of them; escorting some to the tower himself, others he asked one of his officers to seat. There were three table set in a square in the Tower's interior; the head table for the council members themselves; the table on its left for his other guests and the table on the right for his captains and attending officers. Outside the tower, spread between the tower and the tavern were tables for the retinue of guards and crewmembers that would be at the fort.

Not surprised that Council members would arrange to arrive last, Elek made sure to escort each personally and seat them at the 'Council's table;' Saving the middle spot for the 'Master of the Gales,' seeing the 'Hurricane King' had chosen not to grace them with his presence. As he walked each council member from the docks to the tower, he would point out things about the fort that he thought each captain may find interesting. Taking the time to ask questions and to listen as the captains answered; in the attempt to influence them toward his acceptance on the council.

After the last of the council had arrived Elek escorts them to the Tower, seating them at the 'Council Table' he then seats himself in the center of his officers, so he could address the council and his fellow guests all together.

stuff:

So I wasn't sure I should write out every conversation he has with every person he escorts to the table, but I do want to roll the mechanics for it. I figure each 'Council Member' he'd not met, he'd have some knowledge about, try and influence to shift attitude and try a 'sense motive' on. So basically everyone but Tessa and wide Olga

[ooc]What number does Elek have to roll to let him 'know' the knowledge on their pathfinder wiki page?
Maxevale Janis:

Of course! I just didn't want to write out a long list of names. XD

Before you can escort the Council members to the tower, Avimar Sorrinash wastes no time in getting down to business. "Before we feast, I'd like a tour of your fortifications. As lord of an island, you need to be prepared for offshore raiders."

Naturally, there are events before, during, and after the party. XD

For knowledge of the Council members, you know most of the information on the wiki aside from Maxevale's disparaging nickname, Lady Bloodmourn's family history, and the bit about Sorrinash's werewolf crew. That's because in my games, Avimar Sorrinash's ship isn't crewed by werewolves. XD

Retired to SUMITHA

Would any rolls benefit here?

Smiling at Sorrinash's request, Elek nods, "Certainly." He gestures towards Tower, "Let us start with the tower." Leading the council member to the tower, he nods to Rakkaw, then points to the 'Catamaran.' "Our first line of defense, is our heavily armed catamaran, if it doesn't stop whoever is coming for us, it will certainly slow them down." He then points towards the coral, "Nature itself has provided out second line of defense. Without a map or guide, no ship can enter the bay, at least not at any sort of speed. Once in the bay, larger ships will not be able to reach the docks, they would need to use ship boats." He gestures toward the gates, "The gates are protected by firedrakes, and we've smaller ballista set around the walls." He gestures towards the lower floor. "Come, let us walk the wall."

Heading to the second level, he opens eastern door, heading out to the Guard tower. Stopping at the guard tower, he continues. "We will add more ballista here to deal with any unwanted ships." Gesturing towards the gate, he leads Sorrinash to the top of the gate tower where the firedrake is located. "We've a full crew on the catamaran, and a full crew here at the fort. " He turns and gestures towards the west. "As you saw from the tower, the walls go clear around. Would you like to see the rest, or shall we go down to the feast?"

Elek Knowledge (martial): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Sorrinash likes what he sees but wants to see the rest. He also inquires about the skill of your crew. Aiming siege weapons can be tricky - especially against a moving target that's firing back.

Retired to SUMITHA

Gesturing towards the large tower, "Let up proceed back to the tower and we'll walk the other side of the fortification." As they walk he continues "My Crew has had siege Weapon Training aboard the 'Revenge' As we install more styles of siege weapons, will train on those as well."

Once they've gotten to the other side of the tower and walk the perimeter on the western side of the fort, Elek will point west, "I'd eventually like to clear the jungle here and build a town." He turns to Sorrinash giving a wolfish smile, "We're the last port in the 'Shackles' heading towards Mediogalti Island. If I play it right, I could be rich just on trade."

Stopping at the northwestern corner of the fortification, he points towards the giant stairs, "Up on the ridge is another ancient tower, from there you can see even further than this tower. I believe there used to be a way to communicate from one to the other, but we haven't figured it out yet."

As they continue moving around the perimeter of the fort, Elek points out the different buildings sharing what he intends to do with them. As they round the tower towards the gate, he points toward the southeastern tip of the island. "I intend to leave that section of the Island wild, so if anyone gets into the opposite bay, they will need to cross through the jungle just to get to the other side of the bay."

Elek Knowledge (martial): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Sorrinash nods thoughtfully as he listens to your plan. "It sounds like you've put quite a bit of thought into this. I approve." As you rejoin your other guests, he gives you a masterfully-crafted ship in a bottle. "In appreciation for the thorough tour."

You've gained an impossible bottle.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -
While your acting troupe is setting up for their performance, Lady Bloodmourn suggests you share a tale of your adventures on the Island of Empty Eyes. "Ideally with a round of your best drinks!"

I'll need a Perform check to go along with your story. XD

Retired to SUMITHA

perform check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Giving a slight smile at Sorrinash's comment, Elek nods, "Yes, I've tried to consider several options." As they rejoin the other guests, Elek is truly surprised as he accepts the 'ship in a bottle.' "Thank you Captain Sorrinash, this will be put to good use."
----------------------------------------------
As he headed towards the table his officers were seated at, Elek heard lady Bloodmourn's request. Nodding, instead of sitting he moved around the table towards Audessa, loudly asking, "Ms Reyquio would you have your ladies serve the rum from the 'Jester's Grin'" Tuning back towards Lady Bloodmourn, "Now that's the story I should be telling, how we took the finest of rum from a chellish rumrunner." He smiles and shrugs, "Allas, you asked about the island."

Walking out to the space between the tables he theatrically crossed his arms, eventually resting his right arm on his cursed prosthetic and rubbing his chin with his right hand. Eventually lifting his hand exclaiming, "I've got it." He gestures towards the building they are seated in. "As you know, by the building were setting in, and the statues the Isle is named after this used to be a part of the ancient cyclop empire. But there are other secrets to be learned." He gestures towards the northern side of the island. "On top of the plateau is a city named Sumithia and up until recently the cyclopes still lived there. Once we cleared this fort of the things that had moved it, I learned that there were cyclops still alive on the island. Being armed with that knowledge, we proceeded with our search, finding a giant staircase leading to the top of the Plateau. Sitting on the western side of the plateau there is another tower similar to this, but it was guarded by four of the creatures, they fired upon us and did not survive our counter assault."

"Not wanting to endanger my crew I proceeded to the cyclops city of Sumithia alone." He looked towards Vailea the marid from the Boundless Sea. "I found a city that time had passed by. It was run down and the cyclops' living in a barbaric state. I went methodically through the buildings, killing all who fought. The city had slipped so far from its former glory that there were even gargoyles living in the unused buildings." Gesturing towards Vailea, "What I did find worthy of praise was a prisoner the cyclops had taken centuries before, whom I was able to free. Vailea the Marid was being held prisoner in a deep well there in the city. I destroyed the well, and freed her, on the promise that she would join us today to verify my story." Nodding to the Marid, "Thank you for joining us today, Vailea."

Pausing, wondering how much of the story he really wanted to tell, Elek looked at the party goers. Deciding to leave out the part where he died and Besmara resurrected him because his work was not finished, he focused on the Main building. "Once I freed her I entered the palace, there was a fierce warrioress, guarding the palace with her people. We exchanged blows," He lifted the cursed harpoon hand telling it " Chéngwéi dàpào, Dìmàn" As the cold iron harpoon hand changed to the mithril and adamantium cannon, Elek cast his mantle on himself, speaking the name of the wind, "Fēng" He stirred a light wind and lifted off the ground. "I moved to a distance far enough that I could kill her with my cannon, but the Warrioress issued a challenge, after she fired several crossbow quarrels at me." He smiled and shrugged, "I was so impressed by her combat skills I asked if she and her people would join me as pirates." Hovering a few feet above the ground, his smile waned, as he released the wind and settled back on the stone floor.. "She refused, so accepting her challenge. I landed, and we fought." He brushed his shoulder, where she'd wounded him, then rested his hand on his estoc. "She wounded me in the shoulder with her axe, then I killed her with my blade." His smile, returned, "She would have made a fine pirate, she was not the fiercest cyclops I fought that day, but she was the most honorable."

Gesturing towards the door of the tower. "I entered the palace doors ready to fight the cyclops I knew were there, but they had retreated to the 'kings' chambers. Once I blasted the doors open their king sent them in waves to stop me." He shook his head, "Instead of attacking me they should have run, I told them as much as they fought and died. As I forced myself further into the palace, I finally found the 'King.' A huge cyclops with a horn above its eye. I retreated to the foyer of the palace, I fought from the air, but it was able to leap and pierce me with its horn." He placed his hand on his side where he was wounded. "Then I killed him with my cannon." Shaking his head, "The king had no honor, but he was a fierce beast."

He turns and looks at his officers. "After I killed the cyclops' I returned to the 'Banshee's Revenge' to rest; returning the next day with my crew to loot the place." He turned back toward lady's Bloodmourn, "I honestly don't remember how many of the cyclops and gargoyles I killed, the two worthy opponents were the king and the warrioress, of the two I respected her the most."

Your story is well-received, but it's the rum from the Jester's Grin that wins the day: as luck would have it, the vintage is Lady Bloodmourn's favorite. In addition, Mase Darimar seems particularly impressed that Vailea accepted your invitation. Between her appearance and Sefina (who looks somewhat uncomfortable in the courtesan's dress she borrowed), you've made quite the impression on the sea elf. When your story's over, he gives you a respectful nod and presents you with an intricately-carved conch shell.

You've gained a horn of the tritons.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -
By this time, your performers are ready, and their act begins! After only a few minutes, though, Audessa discretely waves you over. She's doing a good job of hiding it, but you can tell that she's distraught. "I hate to impose, but we're experiencing a minor problem in the kitchen. Can you help us deal with it?"

Retired to SUMITHA

Pleased that Vitterande's rum was so well recieved, Elek raises an eyebrow as Captain Darimar produces the 'horn.' Moving to the 'Counsel's' table Elek accepts the gift, giving a light bow. "Thank you Captain Darimar, you humble me."

As the performers begin, he notices Audessa waving at him. Excusing himself he moves to where she is waiving from. Nodding as she explains, he turns, slipping his arm in hers moving towards the kitchen. "Of course Ms Reyquio, what seems to be the problem?"

sense motive (just in case): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29

You automatically passed the Sense Motive, so I just rolled the results into the previous post. XD

Audessa checks to make sure nobody's in earshot before responding. "Rats! In the kitchen!"

Retired to SUMITHA

Rats? is that a code, or are there rat's Owlbear couldn't deal with :)

Telling Audessa, "I'll be right there." He steps back to the table where his officers were seated, leaning down by Conchobhar, "Mr Shortstone if I've not returned by ihe time the troupe is done, please perform a song," He pauses, then leans back in, "If you've finished the one about lady Kaelitessa Aruvari Kaviiri that one would be good."" He gives a self-serving smile, "That way they can hear about me killing Sevenfingers."

Moving quickly from the Tower towards the tavern's kitchen where they were cooking, Elek tells the cursed harpoon hand, "Chéngwéi dàpào" Getting ready to blast any rats to smithereens.

As it turns out, Audessa meant exactly what she said - although she may have underrepresented the issue a little. A half-dozen large rodents are scampering around the kitchen. As you watch, another wriggles up through a crack in the kitchen floor and makes a beeline for the door, aiming to skitter between your legs and escape.

Retired to SUMITHA

Sorry, I read this early yesterday and forgot to post. Any knowledge check that will help figure out what's going on?

Blinking, Elek asked "Where are they coming from? I didn't think this building had a basement, a crawl space then?" As the rat tried to skitter between his legs, he pointed the cannon down, telling it "Bù réncí shèjí" As the cannon fired, Elek looked around for Owlbear, wondering why he hadn't deal with the rats.

Not really sure if the rats are the problem or the result of the problem, figure taking a quick shot to start initiative will at least get us moving. Shadow Wake Merciful Arm Cannon: (attunement), point blank shot, focused blast, Melee Archer, deadly aim. crafted blast: bludgeoning,\

The rats are probably coming up from the root cellar. These pantry-like areas are partially underground and use the subsequent natural cooling to help keep fruits and vegetables fresh.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your blast easily dispatches the (AC 14, 4hp) rat - which appears to be quite ordinary. Your cannon's somewhat noisy, though, and you know that if things get too out of hand, it may draw the attention of your guests.

In regards to Owlbear, you know that he's slow, clumsy, and blind in one eye. That combination of factors makes it difficult for him to deal with multiple fast-moving creatures. Still, his absence is definitely concerning.

Retired to SUMITHA

Is the cannon noisy? I never really thought about it? Oh and there's a pantry?

Splattering the rat against the floorboards before it escaped out the door, Elek frowned, looking to Audessa, "Sorry about the mess." Realizing he'd not seen his slow, clumsy and blind in one eye friend, he asks, "Have you seen Owlbear?"

Realizing the rats were still and issue, he needed to figure out why they were pouring out of the root cellar like, well, like rat's abandoning a ship. Turning to Audessa he asks, "Where's the root cellar door, I'll try and figure out what's spooking them."

Most kitchens in this era have a pantry/root cellar to help preserve items. It's more of a closet than a room, so that's why it doesn't show on the map.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cannon definitely isn't silent. I'd say it's a little louder than your normal speaking voice. When you use spell points and/or wild magic, it's significantly louder.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another pair of rats scurries toward the door as you speak with Audessa. "Owlbear went into the cellar to track down the nest." She gestures toward a small door by the stove.

Retired to SUMITHA

Nodding, he aims the weapon telling it ”Kuàisù shèjí" firing two quick shots at the fleeing rats, "guess I should check on him then." Shaking his head as he misses the first rat, he turns and heads towards the small door by the stove, intent on seeing what was going on.

Raising an eyebrow, Elek realizes Owlbear is asleep. Relieved that his simple friend seemed to be ok, Elek swats at the rats as they climb over him, nipping him in several places. Stepping away from the rats and towards Owlbear, so he doesn't accidentally hit his friend, he tells the cursed adamantium and mithril cannon, "Sǐwáng zhī zhuī" firing the cone of death at the swarm.

Your cone of death dispatches the swarm ... and by some miracle manages to miss almost all of the stored goods in the root cellar. Looks like your cooks won't need to make any last-minute adjustments to the menu.

Quickly looking around, Elek moves over to Owlbear and tries to wake him up, "Hey Owlbear, you ok?"

Owlbear stirs and slowly blinks his way awake. "Five more minutes?"

Retired to SUMITHA

Not surprised his big friend was tired, it had been a few busy days, Elek nods, "Sure big guy, before you go back to sleep can you tell me what got the rats worked up? Did you see anything out of the ordinary?"

Owlbear yawns blearily. "Dunno. Saw a buncha rats and then got sleepy."

Retired to SUMITHA

Furrowing his brow as Owlbear explained what happened, Elek told his friend. "That's fine Owlbear, if you want to rest a little more, that's fine. Ms Audessa and her ladies can take care of the serving from here on out." Moving back up into the kitchen he told Audessa, "I've killed the rest of the rats. I've no idea what set them off, but I'll try and find out."

As he headed back to the tower he wondered about Owlbear. If his friend usually took naps in the afternoon, or if there is more going on than meets the eye.

If he get's back to the tower undisturbed.
Entering the tower he nears the table his officers are seated at, leaning near the witch he whispers. "Ms Iryani, there was a disturbance in the kitchens cellar. Owlbear was sleeping through a rat swarm. Would you mind going over and seeing if you can find any residue of magic?"

Iryani silently nods and heads toward the kitchen. She returns a few minutes later and shakes her head. On a more positive note, the performers you hired are incredible - well worth the money. As their show wraps up, Audessa signals that the food is ready. Despite the rat problem, the cooks were able to keep things on-track.

Retired to SUMITHA

Tipping his head to Iryani as she returns, Elek hopes that there will be no more suprises. Seeing Audessa's signal he nods, watching as they brought out the first course. Smiling to himself as the Crab and shrimp bisque is served, remembering how excited Owlbear was to be fishing for shrimp and crabs.

Is there anything in particular that Elek needs to do?

The first course goes smoothly. The bisque is delicious, and conversation is pleasant. The second course is equally good - at least at first. You're in the middle of chatting with Olga when you feel a twinge in your stomach. Feels like a bout of food poisoning is about to start....

Taking a bite of the squab Elek realized something was off. Excusing himself from conversation with Olga, "Pardon me Captain, I believe I'll make a toast." Waiving at Audessa to stop serving the food, as he pushes the chair out to stand, he leans over to his first mate, "Ms Quinn, somethings wrong with the squab, is there a 'prayer' you can use to purify the food? "
In case she has any good ideas
--------------------------------------
Looking to his party goers, he smiles. "Before we eat I'd like to make a toast!" As he starts to head around the table, stopping near Conchobar and Iryani, quickly telling them. "Something poisoned the food, I need a plan."

Realizing he only had one neutralize poison, he headed to the nearest server with a couple glasses of the rum, he considered which of the esteemed guests he had't really spoken with. As he moved towards the table he slipped the neutralized poison in one of the classes of rum, handing it to Lady Cerise Bloodmourn, smiling he nods, "My'Lady" Then lifting his glass he turns to the party goers, "To Besmara, may she fill your holds with plunder!" As he sipped the rum he watnce lady Cerise, then turned to his cleric of Besmara asking, "Ms Quinn, would you give us a blessing from Besmara?"

probably should take 10(31) on slight of hand to make sure Lady Cerise (or anyone else) didn't see him put the potion in her drink, If Sandara or anyone else can do anything to prevent party wide food poisoning, now would be the time. Sandara has a single neutralize poison spell prepared, and Conchobhar can sing a healing song. Unfortunately, this will consume a large portion of their magical abilities for the day. (aka Sandara's only 4th-level spell slot and all 24 rounds of Conchobhar's bardic performance)

On a positive note, Sandara, Conchobhar, and Iryani can all provide first-aid to anyone suffering the effects of whatever happened to the food. (aka mundane Heal checks to give a bonus to any saving throws)

As he moves towards the end of the table, "Mr Conchobhar, if you'd perform your song after my toast, we need to heal the council first. Pass the word down the Sandara, I'll take care of Lady Cerise, she needs to heal Tessa, your song needs to heal Mase Janis, Sorrinash and the Master of the gales.". As he moves towards the center of the room he looks towards Olga, feeling badly that she'd have to suffer with the rest of them, he'd figure out a way to make it up to her.
-----------------------------
After the toast he gestures towards Conchobhar, "My personal bard has a song prepared." Passing by Conchobhar, he whispers, "Be ready to with any mundane methods to help relieve the other captains and crews." Passing by Sandara and Iryani, he tells them the same. Whispering to his captains at that end of the table. "I think someone is messing with Ambrose's cooking. If you're not feeling well, try not to make it too obvious. Ms Sandara and Ms Iryani, will be able to help."

Sitting down beside Olga, he leans over and confides. [smaller]"I think someone may be trying to ruin my party. I've got the best cook in the whole of the shackles, but someone messed with his squab."

Olga is quite upset when you tell her. "No kidding! I've been trying not to vomit for the last five minutes. Why didn't you get a food taster?" She's so upset, in fact, that you're not sure how much longer she'll keep whispering instead of shouting....

Retired to SUMITHA

Why hadn't he gotten a food taster? Shaking his head Elek remembered the days he was helping Ambrose in the galley. "In a fashion I did." He smiled, "When you see Ambrose, you'll understand. You can tell he tastes everything, that comes out of his kitchen." His smile widens, "Heck, Sometime he taste so much, some stuff doesn't make it out of the kitchen."

Waiving to Sandara, he nods towards Olga, "Just stay calm, my first officer, will give you a hand. Tommorow when your feeling better I'll take you on a tour of the Island and you'll forget about all of this."

taking 10(41) on diplomacy here, I hope he doesn't have to spell out not making a scene.

"It'll take more than some silly tour to make me forgive you," Olga sniffs. The fact that you're focusing on healing the Council members instead of her is likely the source of her anger. She's more than a little vain, after all. Still, she should keep quiet for the time-being.

More drama! The desert course is late. Audessa discretely indicates that Kroop's passed out. It seems he may have overindulged on the fancy rum you plundered. Even worse, he didn't finish the recipe, and Audessa isn't sure where he left off.

Retired to SUMITHA

Smiling at Olga, Elek acquiesces, "I will try to think of something, in the meantime let us enjoy desert. I'm sure Ambrose has something wonderful planned." Turning, looking at Audessa, Elek realizes she is gesturing for him. Excusing himself from the table, he moves towards the hostess. Learning that Ambrose is 'out' he ask, her "Do you know what he was preparing?"

As he headed back towards the kitchen, he sees the big northern Wulfgar speaking with the pirates at the gate. Yelling the clerics name he waives the big man over. As they head to the kitchen together, it's obvious that the Gorumite had been in his cups as well. Explaining the situation to Wulfgar, Elek asks him if he can sober Ambrose up.

Entering the kitchen, he quickly begins looking to see what Ambrose was fixing and where he'd left off.

Any chance the 'carpenter/surgeon' can help get Ambrose on his feet. Elek will take 10(27) on perception to see what Ambrose is fixing. What kind of a roll do you need for Elek to identify it, or to finish it, if we can't get Amborse on his feet?

You'd need a 4th-tier spell to get Kroop fixed up, and it looks like Wulfgar's level 6. Unfortunately, dessert's success or failure rests squarely on your shoulders. Time to bring back Profession (cook) from the beginning of the campaign. XD The kitchen counts as a MW tool.

Cool, Elek will try and rescue the hazelnut creampuffs.
cook: intelligence, cook book, Kitchen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Hmmm not looking good...

With Wulfar in tow Elek heads to the kitchen. As the big cleric heads to the slouching chef, Elek moves to the counter to see what was in the bowls. Finding one bowl with cream in it, he notices there are several small bowls set out to use to mise en place. Some seem to be emptied already, some still have ingredients in them, and some are still clean. But it appears all the ingredients are still on the table. Shaking his head, he sees the cookbook laying on the counter by the stove. Walking over to the cookbook he tells Wulfgar, "What a mess? How's Ambrose?" Turning towards Wulfgar he sees the big man shake his head.

Realizing Ambrose was out for the duration, Elek turned back to the cookbook. He'd been in this situation before, not with this much on the line, but still. Finding the cookbook open to a desert page, it had several deserts listed, buy which one was Ambrose making and where was he at in the process?

Pausing for a moment he sniffed the air, then sniffed again. Something was burning. Realizing Amborse had something in the oven, Elek grabbed a towel, jerking the handle of the cast-iron, wood burning stove open with his harpoon hand, he took the hot tray of overcooked creampuffs out of the oven.

Nearly burning his hand through the towel, he set the pan on the top of the stove. Breathing a sigh, he touched the top of the pastries, the didn't look too bad, but the tops were stiffer than they should be, and he couldn't tell if the middles were messed up or not. Well, at least he'd figured out what recipe and where Ambrose was at in the process. Looking at the recipe, it appeared that they still needed to mix the cream filling and pipe it into the pastries.

Moving to the bowl of cream Elek took a spoon and tasted the mixture. It tasted like it had the milk and hazelnut seasoning, but he couldn't tell if any eggs had been placed in it yet, nor could he tell how much sugar, and sugar was not in any of the bowls. Looking back at the recipe he measured out the sugar and poured it into the bowl. Then not sure about the eggs, he cracked five eggs into the bowl. Moving the bowl to the double boiler on the stove, he began to whip the mixture until it took on a custard texture.

Realizing he was running out of time; he pulled the custard mixture from the stove and began shoveling spoonsful into the piping bag. Placing the tip into the pastries, he squeezed the custard filling into he pastry until it began to come out the other side. Working as quickly as he could he finished the thirty pastries. Setting them on a tray, telling Audessa, "Go ahead and serve the Creampuffs, with the gelato and the desert liquor." Realizing he had flour all over his clothing, he took over the blue and black great cloak, laying it over Amborse, he headed back to the party.

The creampuffs - while far from inedible - aren't nearly the same level of quality as the rest of the meal. A somewhat disappointing conclusion to an excellent feast. On a positive note, Olga's managed to keep herself together until dinner's over, after which she excuses herself relatively gracefully. The rest of your guests thank you for the meal and the entertainment and retire to their ships for the night. While you have sufficient accommodations for those who wish to sleep on the island, pirates don't become Council members by being trusting, for the most part, so their caution is understandable.

As soon as your guests have left, one of Audessa's courtesans approaches you. She's a combination of upset and apologetic as she explains that Sefina asked her to give Kroop some wine right before he started preparing dessert. "Only one glass, I swear!" Shortly thereafter, Kroop fell asleep.

Retired to SUMITHA

Raising an eyebrow at the information provided, Elek nodded to the courtesan, "Thank you, I shall have to speak to Sefina." Moving through the tower he asked, Sandara, "Ms Quinn, would you see that any guests who are staying on the island find accommodations. I've a mystery to attend to." Walking outside the tower he takes a quick look around for his friend. Having placed his mantle on earlier in the evening, Assuming Sefina isn't still in the fort Calling on he wind, he flies to the opposite side of the bay to Sefina's grotto, Calling out as is his habit.

Assuming she is there
Once she come to the surface, he begins, "I hope you had a pleasant time this evening, I know the 'borrowed dress' must have been uncomfortable, I'd assumed you'd wear your shawl. Either way, I know Mase Darimar was impressed with your attendance." He furrows his brow. "I do have a question, one of the ladies told me you asked her to give Ambrose a spot of wine. It appears to have made Ambrose fall asleep. Has Ambrose done something to offend you that you would want to embarrass him? I could have him apologize." He frowns a little more, "Or have I done something to offend you? If I have I can assure you it was not on purpose."

I guess this is making a request like diplomacy? I think the sense motive is self explanatory :)

Surprisingly, Sefina is waiting for you on the shore when you arrive at her grotto. Once she sees you, she lights off a skyrocket firework, which shoots straight up into the air before exploding in a burst of light and sound. She then approaches. It's obvious that she's been crying, and her voice cracks in sorrow as she responds. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. The tiny man made me do it. I don't have a choice!" Her form shimmers, and she suddenly appears so beautiful that it's almost impossible to look at anything else.

Wouldn't her Spell-Like Ability summoning the elementals have the same effect as casting a spell?

Summoning the elementals will end the fascination effect. Quite the tactical blunder for Sefina. XD If you hadn't spent so much time building a relationship with her, she'd have used her drowning caress instead.

Retired to SUMITHA

Realizing Sefina was again doing something magical Elek stirs from his fascination, seeing the large water elementals rising from the water, he takes to the air, climbing at a difficult angle to get beyond their reach. As he flies, he points his cannon at her, then shaking his head, remembering her words. "Why? What tiny man, why no choice? Where is he?"

move action, up 25 ft, standard maintaining flight. the fly check is 20 so automatic (his modifier is +19) do you need a diplomacy roll, or is she set on fighting?

The elementals attempt to crush you under the weight of their watery bodies, as you rise into the air, but you're able to avoid all three of them without much difficulty.

Round Two
Sefina's voice is mournful as she responds - along with a spray of blinding poison. "He took my shawl! If I don't obey, he'll destroy it! Told me to put something in a glass of wine and make sure the cook drank it during the party."

Generally, using Diplomacy requires one minute of continuous interaction, so it's much too early for a roll of that sort.

So much to my dismay, he presently is not wearing his armor, and I never said he drew a second weapon, so his AC is 22, but I don't think anything?

Dodging past the water elementals, Elek frowns at his friend as she tells him a little more information while she's blasting water at him. Telling the cursed prosthetic, " Mì yín kuījiǎ" As his mithril armor manifests, he continues. "If you've done what he asked, why the signal and why are you attacking me? What is his plan, I can help you, Where is he?" Realizing he may have to fight his friend, he tells the cursed prosthetic, " Tiānjiā fǎshù diǎn" spending some of the cannon's innate magic to sustain the wind. He draws out the Castaway's Flare and sets it off, hoping to warn his crew of whatever is coming.
