"Powerful magic binds me to this pool. To the best of my knowledge, it can only be broken by a wish."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It should be safe for at least a few minutes. The cyclopes here mainly stay indoors to conserve energy."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I am a marid from the Boundless Sea. I think the Human phrase is 'water genie.'"

Retired to SUMITHA

'By a wish?' Having heard of 'genies' Elek wasn't surprised to hear of one from the water; though the rest of the information was less helpful. Believing that they were probably under no threat, he told he cursed prosthetic "Xiè xià kuījiǎ."

As the armor 'collapsed' into the prosthetic, he asked, "I know what a genie is, but don't I need to rub a lamp or something to get wishes?" He shrugged his shoulders. "If I had three wishes, I'd happily use one of them to let you go."

Sitting down on the ledge of the pool, he gestures towards the south. "There is a fort on the south side of the island, where Bikendi's ghost is prisoner. Once I free the ghost I can have my crew get the fort functional. But I'll still need to rid the Island of the cyclops."

He pauses, realizing he'd left out information. "You see I've got three months to prepare the Island for a party. I have to entertain the 'Pirate council' in a glorious fashion, proving to them I deserve a spot on their council."

He gestures towards the ruins. "It think throwing the party here would be more impressive." Shrugging, "But I don't know if that's possible."

Realizing he'd started sharing 'too much' to someone he'd just met, he looks back at Vailea. Thinking of the wizard back in Port Peril, "So other than wishing, how do we get you loose? I know some decent wizards."

"It's not that easy, I'm afraid." Vailea smiles sadly. "While powerful members of my kind can, indeed, grant multiple wishes, I am not one of them. My magic is limited to only a single wish each year. If someone were to use it to wish for my freedom, I would happily repay the favor, but so far, nobody has been willing to do so with only the promise of a reward after a year-long wait."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm afraid I know nothing of this 'pirate council.' Being confined here for so long, my knowledge of things outside of Sumitha is vastly out-of-date."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I am very much in favor of eliminating the cyclopes. They're the reason I'm imprisoned here. The tribe has been declining for years; I think they're having a difficult time finding enough food. The island has been under a famine as of late, and cyclopes require a lot of nourishment. From what I've observed, tribe morale is low."

Retired to SUMITHA

'Only one wish instead of three, it was worth a shot.' Smiling, he gives a light shrug, indicating that the wishes were a small thing. He chuckled when Vailea said that the cyclopes moral was low, adding "So are their numbers."

Changing the topic for a moment he points at the water of the pool asking, "Is it fresh or salt water?" Kicking off his Black thigh-high leather boots he swings his legs over and dips his toes in the water.

"Well, I was hoping for three wishes." He gestured towards the compound. "I'd have wished that you could 'repair' this place so it would be livable for me and mine." He smiled "The second wish would have been to ask you to come to the party and tell the pirate council about his place."

Rolling his shoulders, he sighs, "For what it's worth, the invitation stands. in two and a half months I'll be throwing a grand Soiree and you are invited."

His smiled widens, "Vailea, marid from the Boundless Sea, I wish you free of this place the Cyclops call Sumitha and this water pond, free to go wherever you like."

The roll is making a request, to accept the invitation to the party
influence: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (5) + 25 = 30

The freshwater in the pool feels nice and cool on your toes. It's been a while since you've had a proper bath. While pirates aren't typically bastions of cleanliness, you do tend to take pride in your appearance. Freshening up before the soiree with the Pirate Lords will probably be a good idea.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you utter your wish, the walls of the pool shatter, causing the water within to gush out in all directions. Within seconds, the basin is empty, leaving only the marid. She gasps, and her eyes well up with tears. "I ... never thought ... I'd ever be free from this place. I gave up hope years ago. So generous! I would be honored to attend your party. I will also pay you a visit in one year's time to grant you a wish. In the meantime, please take this as a small token of my appreciation." A small vial appears in her hand, and she collects a few tears inside before handing it to you. "My gratitude is more than words can say. I will see you again in two and a half months." She then steps into a shimmer in the air ... and vanishes.

Loot: Vial of Marid's Tears
You may shatter this vial as a standard action create a surge of water that pushes targets in its wake. This surge may be created in any adjacent square and may face any direction, but once created it travels in a straight line for a distance of 60 feet. The wave created is 5 feet wide. The width may be doubled by halving the length. This may be done multiple times, but the length cannot become smaller than 5 feet. (in other words, the options are 60ft long/5ft wide, 30ft long/10ft wide, or 15ft long/20ft wide) A target cannot be pushed back further than the wave’s length.

All creatures within the affected area are pushed as if by a bull rush combat maneuver, except it does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Use 12 + your Charisma modifier in place of your CMB. If the target is on land and is successfully pushed by this ability, they must also succeed at a Reflex save (DC 16 + your Charisma modifier) or fall prone.

'Well, at least I'll have a date for my own party.' Smiling as Vailea thanks him, Elek reaches out and accepts the vial. "I hate slavery, seemed like keeping you here was just as bad." Nodding as she said two and a half months he started to reply, "Yes two and...." breathing a sigh as she vanished.

Looking at the vial he tucked it in his bandolier while sitting down to put his boots back on. Telling the cursed prosthetic "Mì yín kuījiǎ" As the mithril plates formed up his arm and across his body, he adjusted his belt, bandolier and cloak. Finally telling the cold iron harpoon hand, "Chéngwéi dàpào"

As it formed into the adamantium and mithril cannon, he walked up to the western porch and carefully checked both sets of doors for any traps or locks. Once he was confident the doorways were safe, he opened the northern set of doors.

Taking 10(24/29) on perception for the steps and the porch, will take 10(35/40) on disabling any traps or locks

Beyond the double doors of this wide portico lies a huge chamber (50ft ceilings), only weakly illuminated by giant lamps suspended overhead. Very large sleeping pallets cover most of the floor space, and two more sets of double doors lead north and south. (the entire room is considered dim light)

Five cyclopes are resting on pallets here. A sixth keeps watch. As you open the door, he prepares to let out a shout of alarm to wake his companions.

Looks like you get off your Quick Shot before he sounds the alarm. If you somehow manage to deal 115 damage to him, you'll drop him without a sound and can then coup-de-grace the others.

Retired to SUMITHA

As the doors open, Elek looks into the gloomy room. Seeing the sleeping pallets he realizes one of the cyclopes is keeping watch. Quickly lifting the adamantium and mithril cannon he tells the cannon " shèjí" firing it at the lone guard. His shot going awry in the darkness.

Unable to avoid the charging cyclops, Elek shifts his stance taking the axe on his shoulder of his right arm, telling the cursed prosthetic "Biànchéng yú chā shǒu". The mithril ringing from the blow, Elek growls, "Two can play that game." As the cannon shifts to the harpoon hand, he thrusts it at the cyclops face in a feint, while thrusting the estoc at it's groin while slashing with the cold iron harpoon at it's eye and throat. Just as a reminder, feinting is always a move action. Spending martial focus makes the feint strike an AoO instead of a swift action. You're currently 5ft in the air.

You annihilate the cyclops with a flurry of attacks and take to the air! Before you're able to fly out of reach, however, the other cyclopes charge!

RETCON

Your blades flash as the cyclops charges, carving deep gashes. You then dart back into the sky, safely out of range of its axe. The cyclops retreats back into the safety of the building while its companions charge out - only to find you well out of reach.

I moved you back 30ft as requested. You're also 30ft in the air.

Retired to SUMITHA

you only have five cyclops in the fight, I think there should be six. One wounded who retreated instead of died, and the other five who just woke up

Relieved he got in the air in time Elek watched as the other cyclops poured out of the building and the wounded one retreated. Glaring at the grounded cyclops Elek tells the cold iron prosthetic "Chéngwéi dàpào" Flying over the giants, he points the cursed prosthetic at the cyclops nearest the door in a feint, he asks "Who's first?" Quickly turning the cannon at the green cyclops nearly below him he tells the cannon, "shèjí" firing two quick bursts.

Flying blind, back and away toward the stronger windstorm, Elek slows to sheath his sword and draw out the wand. Quickly tapping himself with the wand to see if it will heal the blindness. Then looking quickly to where the cyclops were.

So first round, move action back and up full distance, it looks like 50 ft to the wind storm, he can go 70 so mostly back and a little up? a second move action to sheath the sword. Looks like he needs a second round to draw the wand and cast CLW

Until you remove the projectiles. You can remove one as a move action or all three as a full-round action.

As you continue to retreat, the cyclops watches you warily. Despite her incredible accuracy, crossbows can only shoot so far.

I'm not sure how high you were wanting to go, but with your currently-incredible fly speed, you're probably close to 200ft away from the cyclopes at the moment.

Retired to SUMITHA

The first movement was 70 ft the second, 105 or something like that.

Watching the cyclops on the ground, he tucks the wand back in his bandolier and removes the first crossbow from the grill of his Visor. Keeping a keen eye on the cyclops he removes the other two as well.

looks like two rounds, figured putting the wand away was a move action, so two move actions in one round, and the same, or one full round action in the second. Didn't know if I should do a third round or not. Looks like third round will be flying back and fourth round attacking with the cannon or landing and doing melee.

The cyclops continues to watch you as you remove the hindering projectiles.

When you fly back into range, she'll resume firing.

Knowing that to gain access to the building he'd need to get past the cyclops with the crossbow, Elek flies towards the doors weaving left and right, hoping to avoid the very accurate shooter.

Contemplating landing, he decides not to, knowing that some of the cyclops had not used their strange ability to make one attack without missing. Seeing as how normally he'd rather get hit with a quarrel or a rock instead of an axe, he hovers about thirty foot high and ten foot short of the door.

Leveling his cannon at the cyclops blue in a feint, he looks at the female cyclops with the crossbow and asks. "Any chance you'd like to be a pirate?"

Then turning the cannon towards her, he tells the cursed prosthetic, "shèjí." firing a quick burst at the shooter.

You land a pair of powerful blasts that knock the sniper back a step. She grunts in pair and barks a command to her companions. They quickly retreat through the door to the north, shutting it behind them. Then she responds to your question in thickly accented common. "No. Blasphemous thieves have no place here. Your kind's caused enough trouble." Surprisingly, she then drops her crossbow and calmly walks into the chamber. Picking up a spiked shield and a discarded axe, she turns and mockingly beckons you inside. "Are you going to keep taking potshots from the air like a coward, or will you fight me on the ground like a real man?"

Did he see all of the others go north? Can he tell if there is anyone else in the room?

Potshots from the air? Pot, Kettle, much?' Mentally cursing as the cyclops move back out of his range, Elek considers her question. "Blasphemous thieves. That funny coming from a member of a race that enslaved it's world and eats sentient life." Shaking his head "Potshots from the air like a coward? Pretty hypocritical words for one who shoots that good with a crossbow."

Looking into the great hall, Elek gestures towards the sides where he can't see. "I fight you in there, your lackies jump me. If you want to fight me on the ground come out far enough that I can take to the air before the others can land an axe."

He flies back and lands on the porch surrounding the ruined well, making sure that there was enough rubble between he and she so that the cyclops could not charge him, but would have to approach more cautiously. Telling the cursed prosthetic, "Biànchéng yú chā shǒu." As it became the cold iron harpoon hand he used it to gesture towards the ruined porch.

Double move back and lands

As far as you know, there's nobody else in the room.

"Slavers? Our empire was one of philosophers and scholars. It was the greatest in the world at its peak. We were here before the elves. You know nothing of what you speak. Of what we've lost."

Cautiously, the cyclops exits the structure and begins to approach the well. "I cannot fly. You can. And yet you call me a hypocrite for defending the tribe with the only means available to me. I issue a challenge of honorable single combat, and you think only about how you can escape. I see the bodies of my slaughtered people in the courtyard of my home - dead, presumably by your hand." She spits at the ground with disdain. "You're just like Bikendi."

Retired to SUMITHA

She cannot charge up the steps, correct?

'Philosophers and scholars, the chelish would say the same thing.' Shaking his head as the cyclops approaches. "Do you deny making slaves of and eating sentient creatures?" He gestured toward the broken pool. " Proof of your arrogance. Your people made a slave of a marid from the Boundless Sea named Vailea. She was forced to live in this pool for six thousand years. The magic of the pool was broken when I freed her."

Taking a step back, making sure to keep the cyclops approach blocked with rubble or steps. "I am nothing like Bikendi, you've nothing I want. The day of the cyclops is over, you must adapt or die. I was sent to tame this island so it could be part of the modern country of 'the shackles.' When I approached the tower to the west your soldiers attacked me and mine, almost killing my friend." Gesturing towards the fallen bodies, "I only finish what you and yours started."

Pointing with the cursed prosthetic, to the south, "Your harpy offspring dead." He gestures towards the west; "Your watch tower abandoned." Turning the cold iron harpoon hand towards the building the gargoyles launched from; "your gargoyle guardians gone." Finally pointing east; "Your docks are destroyed, and your ships sent afloat."

Never taking his eyes off of the approaching warrior. "If you wish for your people to survive here, convince your leaders to stand down and treat with me. I will take the 'Dreamstone' so I may rid myself of Bikendi once and for all. Your people can survive with mine, raiding the weak."

Lastly, he points towards the building to the north. "And your ancestors worked with humans, that building is designed in the ancient Azlanti style, an empire of humans." Elek smiles to himself, he's about as similar to the Azlanti as these cyclops were to their ancestors. "Are you as wise as your ancestors were? Or will your leaders condemn your people to extinction?"

The sense motive is trying to read her reaction and not sure if the influence is more diplomacy or intimidate. If they'll talk, he'll talk to them. But the stone is non-negotiable.

lol, not very impressive rolls, maybe he does want to fight her.

Correct. Due to the difference in elevation and rubble, she doesn't have a viable charge lane.

The cyclops looks confused. "I have no idea what you're talking about. All I see is that you've destroyed our supply of freshwater. By your own admission, you've also destroyed our fishing vessels, murdered our watchmen, and slain our only allies. Have you attempted to parley with any of the creatures you've encountered? Or is the language of death the only one you speak? Even now, you threaten to eradicate my tribe if we don't hand over a sacred religious artifact. This island does not need to be tamed. It was our home before your species even existed. Any claim you have to this land is invalid."

She continues to pick her way through the rubble. "Did you even bother to think about how you'd react if the position was reversed? If strangers came to your home, said it now belonged to them, and murdered everyone who tried to stop them? Most of the people here are not warriors. Their deaths grant you no honor."

'She has no idea.' Snorting at the lecture from a 'cylops' Elek retorted, "I do not speak the language of death. I speak the languages of survival and profit. I Parley with those who will aid me with either. Your guardsmen shot at me first, I would have offered parley if they hadn't."

He shrugs, remembering the way the cyclops were able to, almost magically, hit him. "They fought well enough. The strong survive. I'm offering you a chance to do that. Working with me would be better than death."

As she continues through the rubble he touches the Andran Insignia, causing the steel grey light to shine. He frowned when she asked about the situation being reversed. "They were." He lifts up the cursed prosthetic. "A chelish ship overtook my families vessel. Killed my family, enslaved my friends and did this to me, throwing me overboard to die. I was a child." He growls "I survived. They were arrogant, self absorbed, self righteous, conquerors, just like your species. And I give them the same opportunity I'm giving you. Surrender or die."

influence?: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45

The cyclops laughs as she reaches the gazebo and assumes a ready position. "You slaughter half of my clan and only offer a chance to surrender after I challenge you to an honor duel. Don't speak to me of self-righteous conquering. My tribe was perfectly content on our own until you decided you wanted our home. We defended ourselves, and you decided to initiate a genocide. I would never parley with a man as foul as you."

She's in position, and you're able to act first. She has 10ft reach, so any melee attack will require an Acrobatics check to avoid provoking an AoO.

Shaking his head, Elek shrugged, "You're a hypocrite, your people shot first." Shifting his feet like 'Artful' taught him, Elek held his cold iron harpoon hand and his ghost bane estoc at the ready. Shifting quickly, he attempts to tumble under the cyclops guard. Feinting with the harpoon hand towards her face, he thrusts the estoc towards her forward leg. While slashing towards her eye then throat with the harpoon hand and thrusting the estoc at her groin.

She's not a sailor. You're also kind of in the middle of genociding her entire clan for (in her eyes) absolutely no reason. XD

The cyclops hunkers down behind her shield, but you're able to sneak your estoc around it. The resulting pain leaves her open for your cannon to finish her off.

Seeing the cyclops go down, Elek quickly turns towards the open doors watching to see if any more come out for him. Sheathing the estoc as he waits he draws out the wand, deciding to use the last few charges, he casts with it five times and drops it on the ground.

Then drawing out the Castaway's Flare he activates it, hoping to improve the lighting in the room. As the flare illuminates the room he opens both sets of doors to the exterior porch as wide as they can open, guaranteeing himself a quick exit. Knowing that six to eight cyclops had exited through the northern doors, and that more than half had not used their odd magical talent to hit him, he prepared himself to flee in needed.

Once having made sure he had a quick exit, he flies towards the northern doors, hovering at about twenty five foot up and about five foot away, he pointed the adamantium and mithril cannon "shèjí." Blasting away at the ancient doors hinges.

The flare has increased the light level enough that you don't need to roll concealment.

Safely out of reach, you open fire at the cyclopes. Without ranged weapons, it's impossible to reach you, and you're able to slaughter them like fish in a barrel.

From your current height, it's literally impossible for them to get at you, so we'll handwave the half-minute or so it'll take you to shoot them down. XD

Unless otherwise stated, ceilings are 30ft tall.

As expected, it takes a fair bit of time before you manage to bring down the doors. Your view of the room beyond is, once again, blocked by a wall of cyclopes.

Disliking the idea of killing the cyclops in cold blood, Elek remembers what they did to the pirates at the fort.
