I keep wanting to add the abilities from the destruction sphere to the cannon, I know he can't use 'wild magic' but can't remember if he can spend the spell point and raise the dice to the caster level. I didn't think he could, so didn't attempt it.

Not without the Charged Shot arsenal trick (which raises the dice to your character level). The reason is because you'll eventually be able to attack multiple times with the cannon each round.

that's what I thought I remembered, I had been focusing on sphere's and hadn't thought much about the cannon. I've pas planning on using arcane tricks for sphere slots, but maybe I should save one or two of them for other stuff.

"That's Rotgut, Lyle's parrot. Pretty smart fellow - for a bird."

LOL, went back reading posts, just realized "Rotgut" was the parrot not the guy.

Rickety nods, "You can meet with her tomorrow. I'll provide a guide, and you can bring someone with you if you'd like, but she won't want more than that."

So time frame, he would still have time to day to do something, like gather more information.

Would he have time tomorrow to roll for infamy before he leaves?

Rolling for Infamy or crew takes up the majority of the day, so it really depends on whether or not you want to spend the night in the jungle.

phooey, rather not spend the night in the jungle with just one person to share watch with. Will bet a post up soon, watching the browns play KC with my wife.

Edit: Halftime!

:)

We had company over so my post is late, I will get something up :)

edit: my apologies, it's a little short. If Sandara can tell anything about it, or if the Naga can share more info he would go investigate.

not a hundred percent sure on the fly/born aloft mechanical functions, his fly skill is 11 so taking 10 is 21, even more Sandara flying? So this is a little more theatrical than mechanical.

Obviously I'll need to learn the rules a little better if I'm planning on doing flight combat.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You're fine as long as you go slowly and ascend at an angle. The base maneuverability is (clumsy), so you're taking a -8 penalty to Fly checks, but there's no immediate danger or consequence for failure, so taking 10/20 is acceptable.

so with wind lord, he can control a level sever storm and fly at 40 ft speed and fly at poor, so - 4? and the first three maneuvers he can 'take 10' (21 - 4) so 17 while not in combat. Right? Does that effect the concentration for the storm? Can whoever is wearing the 'mantle' do the same? Well, I mean with their own fly check.

Move less than half speed and remain flying 10
Hover 15
Turn greater than 45° by spending 5 feet of movement 15

Yes, all of that is correct. XD

To maintain the storm, it'll cost your Standard action each round unless you spend a spell point. Nobody else needs to concentrate.

one standard each round, ok, didn't think about that but it makes sense. so basically moving half speed anyway, one movement one standard to concentrate.

Eventually I see him flying during some combats, but not soon.

I totally forgot the "Feint Strike" but I doubt if you can fake a zombie. I don't even remember if you can crit undead...

You can crit undead, but they're immune to feinting unless you have the Unlikely Feint talent.

I didn't know if the intelligence played into the feint. Thought it would be worth a shot. Can Elek tell by the battle or the wounds the best way to kill them?

Not really. They have DR, but your estoc bypasses it, so their resistances aren't immediately noticeable.

well, if the estoc bypasses, looks like the rest of the attacks will be piercing, just in case :)

So quick question while I put together a post, wouldn't Elek's ability to use wind let him blow the pollen elsewhere? As long has he was concentrating a standard action a round, it wouldn't use spell points.

Edit:So the map appeared to have two towers about 20 ft square and a bridge joining them. Does the building we entered sort of match that, or is it different in you mind's eye?

That's a clever idea, actually. I think it would work quite nicely. XD

The map's a rough approximation of what the garrison looks like. It's a sidequest that doesn't have its own map, so I'm improvising the visuals.

That's what I assumed, but a top down view is nice for a reference, and it would allow multiple levels if you wanted. I just didn't know if he should expect a doorway to the bridge or what, so I asked.

Apologies for the delay. I've been working on a project all of today and haven't had time to do anything else. I'll update Gameplay after work tomorrow.

That's cool, thanks for the heads up. Hope the project went well :)

I've been trying to mod TES IV: Oblivion and have been struggling greatly. Let's call it a partial success at this point, but more time is needed to see if it's fully playable. XD

So was sitting here chilling when I realized you had posted. In a normal game, if we're in combat, I would post so as not to causes someone else to delay. But normally this late I would just read it and post in the morning. I opened the post and chuckled, she is certainly entertaining. I will have to gather my thoughts and have a cup of coffee in the morning before I try and respond, but great take on the Fey :)

They're probably my favorite creature type. This particular one, by the way, is an homage to a former PC.

Nice, I like meeting characters with an actual personality and history.

I found the race on your website. I couldn't tell if she was an NPC for just this scene or if she was going to join us. But since she's a princess I wasn't sure.

I was sort of hoping that she was a caster looking for a home :)

Edit: so she glides, not flies?

That's correct, she has a constant feather fall effect. She's just an NPC for this scene, unfortunately. This campaign only has room for one Armorist. XD

lol, I didn't realize that's what she was, that's great.

I don't know if the wind screws up her glide, if so we can cast a mantle on her.

edit: Headed out of town for my daughters 38th birthday party, will be back on around 10ish est.

It's the Blistering Hustle talent from the Athletics sphere. Since it didn't exceed your CMD, you'll get an AoO.

So many cool sphere things to learn, it's hard to decide whether to add more sphere's or take the talents of the ones he has already.

The Spheres systems are arguably the best thing to come to Pathfinder since it's existed as an RPG. My party regularly takes Extra Sphere Talent as their odd-level feat for that very reason.

I'd recommend picking a theme and staying within its flavor confines. Otherwise you'll rapidly become overwhelmed with options. XD

lol, true, I'm trying to decide if I want to add Warleader or not, it's fitting for a pirate captain, but there are so many talents that he can use already...

A boon, I have no idea what that means. hmmm, going to play it safe.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As is usually the best course of action when dealing with a fey. Their magic is that of words and meaning. XD

What no love from the Naga? :)

Ok, will get a post up back at Rickety's Day seven.

Snakes don't work that way, unfortunately. XD

True, but they do make nice boots.

Heh. XD

The Shackles sandbox begins now! I'll make up a map of the safe areas this weekend. It'll expand as you gain Infamy. In the meantime, welcome to Level Five!

I'm pretty sure you're familiar with the leveling process by now. Let me know if you have any questions. The chart on my website lists "Attunement +1" for this level. That simply means you gain a +1 enhancement bonus to attack rolls, damage rolls, CMB/CMD, PSB/PSD, and AC.

Sweet! Will Tidewater Rock be on that 'safe area'? Sounds like as good a place as any to head towards, and pick up a little pirate luck.

I'm assuming the Attunement if for attacking with one weapon like the APB?

Added @ 4th lvl
ABP:
5th lvl feat: Rapid Shot
5ft lvl: Attunement + 1 Enhancement bonus to one weapon Estoc (attack rolls, damage rolls), CMB/CMD, PSB/PSD, and AC (leather lamellar)

Armorist:
+ 14 hp
+ 1 BAB
Bound equipment (+3, 2x) +2 Shadow Wake Arm Cannon, + 2 Fey-forged Harpoon Hand, New + 1 keen ghost touch estoc
Destruction Focused Blast The blaster gains the Destruction sphere as a bonus sphere at 1st level. At 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter, she gains a bonus talent from the Destruction sphere. This replaces the summon equipment class feature.
Rogue:
Skill ranks @ 13: +1 Athletics, Influence, Knowledge (arcane), (civilization) (engineering), (martial), Fly, Lore (Ancestors), Profession (sailor), Slight of hand, Sense motive, Spellcraft and Use Magic Device,
Rogue's edge: Influence
shadowstriker: free feat
sneak attack 3d6

I realize the Focused blast only works on the cannon and that's fine. The bound equipment is Now + 2, if I leave that as a bonus to attack, does the harpoon hand get + 2 on feints

The attunement isn't connected to a specific weapon or armor; it's a straight-up bonus. As you gain levels, you become more powerful - not your equipment. XD

If you leave the bound equipment as a +2 instead of trading it for special properties, the bonus will apply to feints.

Your Benevolent Dictator wrote:

But it doesn't stack with the bonus' on the bound equipment, correct.

Correct. The perk to being an Armorist is faster weapon bonus advancement that eventually becomes a bunch of free special properties.

sorry, got wrapped up in getting him to 5, that I forgot to post. I will get a post up after supper. Is heading to tidewater rock within our range?

Technically, the entire world is within your range, but it'll be risky sailing outside of the fringes of the Shackles. It's still quite a large area, though, and Tidewater Rock is inside its bounds. XD

Cool will set sail for Tidewater Rock, will roll for information about the general area.

Trying to clean up a few loose ends. Did we add the Rapid Deploy Sails, Broader Rudder and Rickety's hidden compartments to the ships stats on the Campaign page?

YBD wrote:

Also wanted to make a mental note not to forget about this comment :)

I'll go ahead and get those added after work.

I've updated the Campaign Info page. We'll be abstracting the majority of travel around the Shackles. Essentially, there are 10 major regions. It takes one full day to travel between them. Each region has a variety of things to do, locations to visit, ships to capture, etc. Due to the large number of them, I'm not currently listing them aside from the area's major port. Knowledge and/or Lore checks will give you the relevant information.

For the time-being, since you're intending to check out Tidewater Rock, you'll be heading into the Motaku Isle region.

Very cool!
