aka GM Valen Human (mostly)

This thread is for out-of-character discussions for a table of What the Helms Hide being run for PaizoCon. Sign-ups must be done through the table's Warhorn page.

Start Date & End Date: This play-by-post game will begin on May 28th and must end no later than 11:59pm (PDT GMT -07) on July 11th per PaizoCon rules.

Game Expectations:
Due to the strict deadline for concluding the game, I request that players post a minimum of once per day on weekdays and at least once on weekends. I will do my best to do the same so to ensure that the game is timely completed. That begins said, I realize (and expect) that real life can get in the way of fun at times and that not all players will be able to meet that pace. I expect folks to occasionally be unavailable for a period of time. If I know that I will be unavailable for some reason for more than 24 hours (or 48 over a weekend), I will post such. I request and expect all players to do the same. For instance, I anticipate having limited (possibly, no) availability for posting on June 5 & 6 as well as June 11-20.

I reserve the right to bot players who do not post anything within a 24 hour period (48 hours over a weekend) and ask that each player provide botting instructions or authorize another player to bot their PC's actions prior to the start of the game.

Also, for preparation of chronicles, those who have a seat at the table per Warhorn, please go ahead post the information below:

PFS:
1) Character name:
2) PFS#-Character#:
3) Character Class & Level:
4) Faction:
5) Day Job (with roll):

Then, please "Dot and Delete" in the Gameplay thread.

Please note that, on these forums, I often run games under the alias of "GM Valen" and will be doing so on this run.

Welcome to PaizoCon, whether this your first time in a Play-by-Post game or you are a veteran to these forums! I will do my best to answer any questions you may have and I look forward to sharing a table with you!

Merchants of the Road. Eulogy for Roslar's Coffer, p. 66. wrote:
While kobolds within the Inner Sea region are often viewed as either genuine menaces or as cowardly pests, the merchant kobolds who make up the Redclover tribe do their best to act in contrast to these stereotypes. The Redclover kobolds dress in finely tailored clothing reminiscent of halfling fashion, favoring distinguished waistcoats and puff-sleeved shirts. Their signature attire, though, is a cloth kobold mask, painted with rosy cheeks and a sweet smile, and affixed with light-blocking lenses that give the appearance of button-black eyes. The Redclovers also often pursue musical training and deliberately develop pleasant mannerisms, cultivating charming personas to match their endearing appearances. Armed with such disarming demeanors, the Redclover kobolds use tunnels within the Darklands to travel throughout the Inner Sea region, venturing aboveground to trade with whatever villages or encampments they might find.

Destiny | Guardian's Covenant (Table 2) | On the Trail of History

Sorry about the delay, but my efforts to get out an update have been thwarted by a number of unanticipated demands (as well as a few anticipated that I failed to adequately account for). It looks like it will be late Sunday, or more likely, sometime Monday before I will get an update up.

Destiny | Guardian's Covenant (Table 2) | On the Trail of History

I have been reminded that this table has a HARD STOP date of July 11th. I believe the scenario can be completed in that time (even with my limited posting next week) and acknowledge that my schedule has been a major contributor to the slower pace of this table to date (did I mention my limited posting next week?).

As such, I will be doing my best efforts to keep this table moving. This includes potentially botting any PCs that have not posted within 24 hours of a post requesting a response or action. Please, be sure to post botting instructions in your profile and/or designate another player who may bot your PC on your behalf. In the absence of such, I will bot PCs as I see fit, but will not use any of the PCs' consumables or spell slots.

Dang, I stared at the srd until my eyes crossed and still got it wrong lol.

My (mis)understanding was dropping items is a Free action in PF1 and Free Actions can be done at any point of your turn, so my thinking was Annissa could pick up (standard), move 15, free action drop in an adjacent square, and continue movement back at to the other swarm.

Held (attended) items get a save vs effects, is that right? This artifacts only weighs 1 pound, so can we hold more than 1 in our hand at at time?

No worries. I interpreted the post as Annissa throwing the item some distance rather than simply dropping it. I suspect that one cannot drop an item in the middle of a move action just as one cannot make an attack in the middle of a move action without the proper feat, but I could not find any rule prohibiting it. Regardless, I think the retcon works to the party's advantage.

I believe you are correct on the save vs. effect of attended items, but I would have to look it up. It would not apply to the swarm's special attack as its description specifically states that the attack "causes damage to unattended objects", which I interpret as meaning it does not cause damage to attended objects.

Other than encumbrance, I am currently unaware of any rules that would prohibit a PC from holding more than one artifact in hand at a time. However, if a single PC tried to carry more than half the items at once, I think it reasonable to impose some additional requirement, such as requiring an appropriate skill check to balance or otherwise carry all those items at once.

Is it as the quests scenarios SFS and PF2: are we coming full life and full spells for each quest?

Is Zog trained in survival or shall I lead?

Sorry for being MIA, holiday plans went bust. First, was told that where we were going had signal, but apparently not my carrier (T-mobile's coverage is T-errible) and then the AC went out, so noped out of there with 7 hour drive back home. Plus side, now available to post!

Destiny | Guardian's Covenant (Table 2) | On the Trail of History

It appears that Annissa does not have a Day Job, so I have reported the game and finished the chronicles, which can be found here! Please let me know of any changes or corrections.

Once I have confirmation of receipt from everyone or Friday rolls around (whichever comes sooner), I will mark this campaign as inactive.

I hope you all enjoyed PaizoCon! Thank you all again for a very fun run and I look forward to sharing a table with each of you in the future!
